Name:
The name of this Sûrah
is not related to any special Ayât/Verse.
However, there is a continuous mentioning of many Anbiyâ (Prophets) for that reason it is called Al-Anbiyâ. According to
the subject matter, it is not a title of the Sûrah but just a
symbol to recognize.
Period of Revelation:
Both the subject
matter and the style of the Sûrah indicate that it has been revealed in the
middle period of Makkah, according to our division the third period of the
Makki life of the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. In its background, the circumstances are not
as such, as they are evident in the Sûrahs of last period.
Theme and Subject
Matter:
This Sûrah discusses
the continuous struggle between the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa
sallam and the chiefs of Makkah. In
this Sûrah, the answers have been given for those objections and doubts, which
were being put forward concerning his Prophethood and his invitation towards
the Belief of Tauhid and the Hereafter. The chiefs of Makkah have been warned for
their maneuverings against the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa
sallam and been cautioned about the bad consequences of
their activities. They have been
warned about the thoughtlessness behavior towards the invitation of the Prophet
Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam.
In addition, at the end of they have been made to realize that the
person whom they consider a trouble and misery, in fact he has come to them as
a blessing.
During the speech the
topics, which have been particularly discussed, are as follow:
1.
The misunderstanding of the disbelievers
of Makkah -- that a human being could never be a Messenger and on the basis of
this their denial to accept Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam
as a Prophet -- has been disproved with details.
After this some
examples have been presented from the life stories of the Prophets, the purpose
of it is to make them understand that all the Prophets, who were sent by Allâh subhaana
wa ta’aala in the human, were human beings and had all the characteristics
of other human beings of the world except those which were exclusive to
Prophethood. They had no thoughts of
Divinity or being Godlike, but they used to implore Allâh subhaana wa
ta’aala for all their needs. Along
with these, two other things have also been mentioned from these historical examples. First, many troubles came upon the Prophets,
and their opponents also tried their worst to defeat them, but finally they
have been helped out by Allâh subhaana wa ta’aala in unnoticeable
way. Second, the Deen (Way of Life) of
all the Messengers were the same, and the same Deen was presented by the
Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. That is the only Right Deen (Way of Life) of
the human beings, and all other religions/doctrines that have been invented in
the world --- those are nothing but false disputes created by the misguided
people.
Finally, it has been
told that liberation of human being depends solely on the adoption of this Way
of Life (Deen). Those people who will
embrace it, they will be successful in the final judgment of Allâh subhaana
wa ta’aala and will become the inheritors of the earth. In addition, those people who will discard it
they will suffer the worst consequences in the Hereafter. It is blessing of Allâh subhaana wa
ta’aala that HE has been informing the people beforehand through HIS
messengers about this Reality. Foolish
are those people who are considering the arrival of Prophet Muhammad
sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam an affliction instead of a blessing.
