Total Verses: 110

Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi
(I) Begin with the Name of Allâh WHO is Most Loving and Most Merciful

75.             Qala alam aqul laka innaka lan tastateeAAa maAAiya sabran
He (Khidr) said: "Did I not tell you that you cannot observe patience with me?"

76.             Qala in saaltuka AAan shayin baAAdaha fala tusahibnee qad balaghta min ladunnee AAuthran
Mûsa responded:  "After this if I ask anything from you then you should not let me accompany you.  Well, now you have gotten an excuse from my side.”

77.             Faintalaqa hatta itha ataya ahla qaryatin istatAAama ahlaha faabaw an yudayyifoohuma fawajada feeha jidaran yureedu an yanqadda faaqamahu qala law shita laittakhathta AAalayhi ajran
Then they advanced further until they reached in a village and asked for food from the people of the town but they refused to entertain them.  There they saw a wall that was about to collapse.  That person (Khidr) rebuilt that wall.  Mûsa said: If you wished then you could have demanded wages for this task."

78.             Qala hatha firaqu baynee wabaynika saonabbioka bitaweeli ma lam tastatiAA AAalayhi sabran
He (Khidr) responded: "So this is the end of our company.  Now, I am going to tell you the reality of those things about which you could not keep your patience.

79.             Amma alssafeenatu fakanat limasakeena yaAAmaloona fee albahri faaradtu an aAAeebaha wakana waraahum malikun yakhuthu kulla safeenatin ghasban
The detail about the boat is that it belonged to a few poor people (Masâkîn) who used to work-hard in the river.  I wished to make it defective, because a little further there was a territory of such king who was taking every boat by force.

80.             Waamma alghulamu fakana abawahu muminayni fakhasheena an yurhiqahuma tughyanan wakufran
As for the boy, his parents were believers, and I foresaw that he would trouble them by his rebellion and infidelity (Kufr).

81.             Faaradna an yubdilahuma rabbuhuma khayran minhu zakatan waaqraba ruhman
This is why; I wanted that their Râbb should give them such child in his place that would be better than him in piety and friendship.

82.             Waamma aljidaru fakana lighulamayni yateemayni fee almadeenati wakana tahtahu kanzun lahuma wakana aboohuma salihan faarada rabbuka an yablugha ashuddahuma wayastakhrija kanzahuma rahmatan min rabbika wama faAAaltuhu AAan amree thalika taweelu ma lam tastiAA AAalayhi sabran
And the detail of this wall is that it belongs to two orphan boys who live in this town.  Under this wall; a treasure is buried for these children and their father was a righteous man this is why your Râbb wanted that they should dig out their treasure when they attain their age of maturity.  This has been done due to the Mercy of your Râbb; I have not done anything by my own will.  This is the reality of those things over which you could not hold your patience."  (R) 1

83.             Wayasaloonaka AAan thee alqarnayni qul saatloo AAalaykum minhu thikran
And O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), these people ask you about Dhul-Qarnain.  Tell them that I am going to tell you something about him."

84.             Inna makkanna lahu fee alardi waataynahu min kulli shayin sababan
WE had given him authority in the land and had blessed him with all kinds of provisions.

85.             FaatbaAAa sababan
He made the arrangements (for a movement, first toward the west).

86.             Hatta itha balagha maghriba alshshamsi wajadaha taghrubu fee AAaynin hamiatin wawajada AAindaha qawman qulna ya tha alqarnayni imma an tuAAaththiba waimma an tattakhitha feehim husnan
Until when he reached the limit of the sunset then, he saw the sun setting in black water and there he met with a nation.  WE (Allâh) said: "O Dhul-Qarnain!  You have the power to punish them or treat them with kindness."

87.             Qala amma man thalama fasawfa nuAAaththibuhu thumma yuraddu ila rabbihi fayuAAaththibuhu AAathaban nukran
He said: "Whoever among them will do evil we will punish him/her, then he/she will be brought back to his/her Râbb and HE will give him/her more severe punishment.

88.             Waamma man amana waAAamila salihan falahu jazaan alhusna wasanaqoolu lahu min amrina yusran
And whoever among them will bring Faith (in Oneness of Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala), and will do righteous deeds, there is a great reward for him/her and we shall treat him/her with kindness."

89.             Thumma atbaAAa sababan
Then he prepared (for another movement),

90.             Hatta itha balagha matliAAa alshshamsi wajadaha tatluAAu AAala qawmin lam najAAal lahum min dooniha sitran
Until he reached the limit of sunrise.  There he saw that sun is rising on such a nation for whom WE have not made any arrangements to protect from the sun.

91.             Kathalika waqad ahatna bima ladayhi khubran
This was their condition, and whatever Dhul-Qarnain had, WE knew it very well.

92.             Thumma atbaAAa sababan
Then he prepared (for another movement),

93.             Hatta itha balagha bayna alssaddayni wajada min doonihima qawman la yakadoona yafqahoona qawlan
Until he reached between two mountains, there he met with a nation who could hardly understand a word.

94.             Qaloo ya tha alqarnayni inna yajooja wamajooja mufsidoona fee alardi fahal najAAalu laka kharjan AAala an tajAAala baynana wabaynahum saddan
Those people said: "O Dhul-Qarnain!  Gog and Magog (Ya'jûj and Ma'jûj) spread great mischief in this land, should we then pay you any tax for this task that you build a barrier between us and them?"

95.             Qala ma makkannee feehi rabbee khayrun faaAAeenoonee biquwwatin ajAAal baynakum wabaynahum radman
He said: "Whatever my Râbb has given me is enough.  So you just help me with labor, I am going to build a barrier between you and them.

96.             Atoonee zubara alhadeedi hatta itha sawa bayna alsadafayni qala onfukhoo hatta itha jaAAalahu naran qala atoonee ofrigh AAalayhi qitran
"Bring me iron sheets."  Finally, when he filled the gap between the two mountain-cliffs then he asked the people that now light the fire.  Until when (this iron wall) became red hot like fire then he said: "Now bring me melted brass I shall pour over it”.

97.             Fama istaAAoo an yathharoohu wama istataAAoo lahu naqban
(This barrier was such that) Gog and Magog (Ya'jûj and Ma'jûj) could not even climb over it and to dig a hole in it was the most difficult task for them.

98.             Qala hatha rahmatun min rabbee faitha jaa waAAdu rabbee jaAAalahu dakkaa wakana waAAdu rabbee haqqan
Dhul-Qarnain said: "This is a blessing from my Râbb.  But when the time for the Promise of my Râbb will come then HE will level it to the ground, and the Promise of my Râbb is ever true."

99.             Watarakna baAAdahum yawmaithin yamooju fee baAAdin wanufikha fee alssoori fajamaAAnahum jamAAan
And on that Day WE shall let the people go to pell-mell with each other (like waves in the sea) and the cornet/trumpet will be blown and WE shall gather the entire mankind together.

100.          WaAAaradna jahannama yawmaithin lilkafireena AAardan
And that will be the Day when WE shall bring Hell before the infidels (Kafir),

101.          Allatheena kanat aAAyunuhum fee ghitain AAan thikree wakanoo la yastateeAAoona samAAan
Before those infidels (Kafir) who were (pretending to be) blind from MY Advice (Al-Qur'ân) and were not ready to hear anything.  (R) 2

102.          Afahasiba allatheena kafaroo an yattakhithoo AAibadee min doonee awliyaa inna aAAtadna jahannama lilkafireena nuzulan
Do then the people who have adopted the way of infidelity (Kufr) think that they take MY slaves as their deities (Auliyâ') except ME?  WE have prepared Hell for the entertainment of such infidels (Kafir).

103.          Qul hal nunabbiokum bialakhsareena aAAmalan
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) ask them, "Shall WE tell you that who are most unsuccessful and unlucky people in their deeds?

104.          Allatheena dalla saAAyuhum fee alhayati alddunya wahum yahsaboona annahum yuhsinoona sunAAan
Those, whose efforts in this worldly life had gone astray from the right path and they kept thinking that what they are doing is right.

105.          Olaika allatheena kafaroo biayati rabbihim waliqaihi fahabitat aAAmaluhum fala nuqeemu lahum yawma alqiyamati waznan
These are the people who denied embracing the Revelation (Ayât) of their Râbb and did not believe in appearing before HIM.  This is why all of their deeds are wasted; on the Day of Judgment, WE shall not give any weight to them.

106.          Thalika jazaohum jahannamu bima kafaroo waittakhathoo ayatee warusulee huzuwan
Their reward is Hell for that infidelity which they have committed and because the mockery they have been doing with MY Revelation (Ayât) and with MY Rasools.

107.          Inna allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati kanat lahum jannatu alfirdawsi nuzulan
However; those people who brought Faith and did righteous deeds, for their warm reception there will be Gardens of Al-Firdaus (the Paradise)

108.          Khalideena feeha la yabghoona AAanha hiwalan
In which they will live forever and they never like to go out anywhere else from that place.

109.          Qul law kana albahru midadan likalimati rabbee lanafida albahru qabla an tanfada kalimatu rabbee walaw jina bimithlihi madadan
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) tell them: "If the ocean become ink to write-down the Words of my Râbb; the ocean will deplete but the Words of my Râbb will not finish, even if we bring that much more ink (another ocean) it does not suffice."

110.         Qul innama ana basharun mithlukum yooha ilayya annama ilahukum ilahun wahidun faman kana yarjoo liqaa rabbihi falyaAAmal AAamalan salihan wala yushrik biAAibadati rabbihi ahadan
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) say: "I am a human as you are, a revelation is being send to me that your Allâh is only One Allâh therefore whoever anticipate to meet with his/her Râbb he/she should do righteous deeds and do not associate any partners with his/her Râbb in devotion (worship).  (R) 3

17.            Faittakhathat min doonihim hijaban faarsalna ilayha roohana fatamaththala laha basharan sawiyyan
And (she) had hidden from them by placing a screen.  In that situation, WE sent OUR Rûh (Angel -- Jibrael, Gabriel) to her and he appeared before her in the form of a complete man.

18.            Qalat innee aAAoothu bialrrahmani minka in kunta taqiyyan
Maryam suddenly said: "If you fear Allâh then I seek refuge of Allâh against you”.

19.            Qala innama ana rasoolu rabbiki liahaba laki ghulaman zakiyyan
He (Angel) said: "I am only a messenger from your Râbb and I am sent to give you a righteous son”.

20.            Qalat anna yakoonu lee ghulamun walam yamsasnee basharun walam aku baghiyyan
Maryam said: "How shall I have a son when no man has ever touched me and I am not an unchaste woman?"

21.            Qala kathaliki qala rabbuki huwa AAalayya hayyinun walinajAAalahu ayatan lilnnasi warahmatan minna wakana amran maqdiyyan
Angel said: "So will it be, your Râbb says that it is very easy for ME to do so and WE will do so in order to make that boy a sign for the people and a blessing from US (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala) -- and this has to happen."

22.            Fahamalathu faintabathat bihi makanan qasiyyan
Therefore, Maryam conceived that child and she went to a distant place (Bethlehem valley about 4 - 6 miles from Jerusalem) with that pregnancy.

23.            Faajaaha almakhadu ila jithAAi alnnakhlati qalat ya laytanee mittu qabla hatha wakuntu nasyan mansiyyan
Then the pain of childbirth brought her under a date-palm tree.  She began to say: "Would that! I had died before this and had been long forgotten”.

24.            Fanadaha min tahtiha alla tahzanee qad jaAAala rabbuki tahtaki sariyyan
The Angel called her from her feet-side and said: "Do not grieve.  Your Râbb has gush a water stream underneath you

25.            Wahuzzee ilayki bijithAAi alnnakhlati tusaqit AAalayki rutaban janiyyan
And, you just shake the trunk of this tree; fresh ripe-dates will fall on you.

26.            Fakulee waishrabee waqarree AAaynan faimma tarayinna mina albashari ahadan faqoolee innee nathartu lilrrahmani sawman falan okallima alyawma insiyyan
Therefore, you eat, drink, and refresh your eyes.  Then if you see any person tell him/her, “I have pledged a fast for the Most Loving Allâh -- so today I shall not speak to anyone.”

27.            Faatat bihi qawmaha tahmiluhu qaloo ya maryamu laqad jiti shayan fariyyan
Then she came to her people with that child.  People started saying: "O Maryam, you have committed a hateful sin (Fariya).

28.            Ya okhta haroona ma kana abooki imraa sawin wama kanat ommuki baghiyyan
O sister of Hârûn, neither your father was a bad person nor your mother was unchaste lady."

29.            Faasharat ilayhi qaloo kayfa nukallimu man kana fee almahdi sabiyyan
Maryam pointed towards the child.  People said: "What shall we ask from him who is a boy in the cradle?"

30.            Qala innee AAabdu Allahi ataniya alkitaba wajaAAalanee nabiyyan
The boy spoke out: “I am a servant of Allâh.  HE gave me a Book, and appointed me as a Prophet,

31.            WajaAAalanee mubarakan aynama kuntu waawsanee bialssalati waalzzakati ma dumtu hayyan
And HE blessed me wherever I live, and (HE) enjoined for the punctuality of prayer (Salât) and the poor-dues (Zakât) as long as I am alive,

32.            Wabarran biwalidatee walam yajAAalnee jabbaran shaqiyyan
And, made me dutiful to my mother, and did not make me cruel and uneasy.

33.            Waalssalamu AAalayya yawma wulidtu wayawma amootu wayawma obAAathu hayyan
Peace (Salâm) is upon me the day I was born and when I die and when I am raised again to life."

34.            Thalika AAeesa ibnu maryama qawla alhaqqi allathee feehi yamtaroona
This is 'Iesa the son of Maryam and this is that truth about him for which people are doubtful.

35.            Ma kana lillahi an yattakhitha min waladin subhanahu itha qada amran fainnama yaqoolu lahu kun fayakoonu
It is not for Allâh to take anyone as HIS son.  HE is pure (Glorified, Exalted).  HE when decides about anything then HE just says, "Be", and it is (it comes into being).

36.           Wainna Allaha rabbee warabbukum faoAAbudoohu hatha siratun mustaqeemun
(And 'Iesa had said that): "Allâh is my Râbb and as well as your Râbb, so you should only serve (worship) HIM, this is the Straight Path”.

37.            Faikhtalafa alahzabu min baynihim fawaylun lillatheena kafaroo min mashhadi yawmin AAatheemin
But then different sects began disputing among themselves. Therefore, those people who committed infidelity (Kufr) for them that time will be of great destruction when they will observe a big day (A Day of Resurrection).

38.            AsmiAA bihim waabsir yawma yatoonana lakini alththalimoona alyawma fee dalalin mubeenin
When they will be brought before US (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala) that day their ears will listen clearly and their eyes will also see very well -- but today these cruels (Zâlimûn) are in total error.

39.           Waanthirhum yawma alhasrati ith qudiya alamru wahum fee ghaflatin wahum la yuminoona
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), when these people are negligent and are not bringing the Faith -- in this situation warn them about that Day when the decision will be given and nothing can be done except regrets.

40.            Inna nahnu narithu alarda waman AAalayha wailayna yurjaAAoona
Finally, WE will be inheriting all that what is in the earth and everyone will be brought back to US (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala).  (R) 5

41.            Waothkur fee alkitabi ibraheema innahu kana siddeeqan nabiyyan
And, narrate the story of Ibrâhim in this Book, no doubt he was a righteous man and a Prophet.

42.            Ith qala liabeehi ya abati lima taAAbudu ma la yasmaAAu wala yubsiru wala yughnee AAanka shayan
(Just remind them of that occasion) When he said to his father: "Dear father, why do you worship those things which can neither hear nor see and nor can benefit you in anything?

43.            Ya abati innee qad jaanee mina alAAilmi ma lam yatika faittabiAAnee ahdika siratan sawiyyan
Dear father, such knowledge has come to me, which did not come to you, you follow me, I will guide you to the Straight Path.

Dear father, do not serve Shaitân, Shaitân is disobedient to the Most Loving (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala).

45.            Ya abati innee akhafu an yamassaka AAathabun mina alrrahmani fatakoona lilshshyatani waliyyan
Dear father!  I have feared that you may not incur the punishment of the Most Loving (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala) and become Shaitân’s companion."

46.            Qala araghibun anta AAan alihatee ya ibraheemu lain lam tantahi laarjumannaka waohjurnee maliyyan
Father responded: "Ibrâhim, Have you been averted from my deities (Ilâhan)?  If you did not stop then I shall stone you to death.  So you should isolate yourself from me forever.”

47.            Qala salamun AAalayka saastaghfiru laka rabbee innahu kana bee hafiyyan
Ibrâhim said: "Good-by to you.  I shall pray to my Râbb to forgive you; my Râbb is very kind to me.

48.            WaaAAtazilukum wama tadAAoona min dooni Allahi waadAAoo rabbee AAasa alla akoona biduAAai rabbee shaqiyyan
I leave you people and as well as those deities whom you invoke except Allâh.  I shall only call my Râbb; it is hopped that I shall not be forsaken by calling to my Râbb."

49.            Falamma iAAtazalahum wama yaAAbudoona min dooni Allahi wahabna lahu ishaqa wayaAAqooba wakullan jaAAalna nabiyyan
So when he turned away from those people and their deities except Allâh then WE gave him children like Ishâque and Ya'qûb and made each of them Prophet.

50.            Wawahabna lahum min rahmatina wajaAAalna lahum lisana sidqin AAaliyyan
And, bestowed them with OUR Blessings and granted them true honor.  (R) 6

51.            Waothkur fee alkitabi moosa innahu kana mukhlasan wakana rasoolan nabiyyan
And, mention about Mûsa in this Book.  He was a chosen person and was a Messenger Prophet.

52.            Wanadaynahu min janibi alttoori alaymani waqarrabnahu najiyyan
WE called him from the right side of the Tur (Mount) and honored him with a secret conversation,

53.            Wawahabna lahu min rahmatina akhahu haroona nabiyyan
And, with OUR Blessing (WE) made his brother Hârûn a Prophet and gave to him (as a helper).

54.            Waothkur fee alkitabi ismaAAeela innahu kana sadiqa alwaAAdi wakana rasoolan nabiyyan
And, mention about Ismâ'il in this Book.  He was truthful in his promise (a man of word) and was a Messenger Prophet.

55.            Wakana yamuru ahlahu bialssalati waalzzakati wakana AAinda rabbihi mardiyyan
He used to command his family for prayer (Salât) and the poor-dues (Zakât) and was a favorable person in the sight of his Râbb.

56.            Waothkur fee alkitabi idreesa innahu kana siddeeqan nabiyyan
And, mention about Idris in this Book.  He was a pious person and a Prophet.

57.            WarafaAAnahu makanan AAaliyyan
And WE raised him to a high place (rank).

58.            Olaika allatheena anAAama Allahu AAalayhim mina alnnabiyyeena min thurriyyati adama wamimman hamalna maAAa noohin wamin thurriyyati ibraheema waisraeela wamimman hadayna waijtabayna itha tutla AAalayhim ayatu alrrahmani kharroo sujjadan wabukiyyan
These are those messengers from the children of Adam on whom Allâh bestowed HIS Love, and from among the progeny of those people whom WE had embarked in the boat with Nûh, and from the offspring of Ibrâhim and from the breed of Israel.  And, they were from among those people whom WE guided and favored.  Their condition was such that when the Verses of the Most Loving (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala) were recited to them -- then with tears (in their eyes) they fell down in prostration.

59.            Fakhalafa min baAAdihim khalfun adaAAoo alssalata waittabaAAoo alshshahawati fasawfa yalqawna ghayyan
Then after them those deteriorate people became their successors who wasted prayer (Salât) and followed their lust, so it is quite near that, they should suffer the consequence of going astray.

60.            Illa man taba waamana waAAamila salihan faolaika yadkhuloona aljannata wala yuthlamoona shayan
However those who repent and bring Faith and do righteous deeds they will enter into the Paradise and no unjust will be done to them.

61.            Jannati AAadnin allatee waAAada alrrahmanu AAibadahu bialghaybi innahu kana waAAduhu matiyyan
There is everlasting Paradise ('Adn, Eden) for them, which the Most Loving (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala) has secretly promised to HIS slaves and certainly, this promise has to be fulfilled.

62.           La yasmaAAoona feeha laghwan illa salaman walahum rizquhum feeha bukratan waAAashiyyan
There they shall not hear any nonsense talk, whatever they will hear will be only righteous, peace (Salâm).  And, they will regularly keep getting their provisions morning and evening.

63.           Tilka aljannatu allatee noorithu min AAibadina man kana taqiyyan
This is that Paradise whose inheritors WE shall make those among OUR servants who have been pious (Al-Muttaqûn).

64.           Wama natanazzalu illa biamri rabbika lahu ma bayna aydeena wama khalfana wama bayna thalika wama kana rabbuka nasiyyan O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), we do not come down without the Command of your Râbb.  Whatever is before us and whatever is behind us and whatever is in between these -- all that belongs to HIM and your Râbb is not forgetful.

65.            Rabbu alssamawati waalardi wama baynahuma faoAAbudhu waistabir liAAibadatihi hal taAAlamu lahu samiyyan
HE is a Râbb of the skies and the earth and of all those things, which are between the skies and the earth; therefore, you should serve HIM (Alone) and remain firm on HIS service.  Do you know any other being equal to HIS excellence?  (R) 7

66.           Wayaqoolu alinsanu aitha ma mittu lasawfa okhraju hayyan
Human asks: "Is it really when I shall be dead then I shall again be brought to life?"

67.            Awa la yathkuru alinsanu anna khalaqnahu min qablu walam yaku shayan
Does human not recall that WE have created him before when he was nothing?

68.            Fawarabbika lanahshurannahum waalshshayateena thumma lanuhdirannahum hawla jahannama jithiyyan
By your Râbb, WE certainly shall gather them together along with Shayâtin, then (WE) shall bring them around the Hell and make them fall on their knees,

69.            Thumma lananziAAanna min kulli sheeAAatin ayyuhum ashaddu AAala alrrahmani AAitiyyan
Then shall pick out each such person from all sects who had been worst rebellious against the Most Loving (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala),

70.            Thumma lanahnu aAAlamu biallatheena hum awla biha siliyyan
Then WE know this that who deserves most to be burned in the Hell-fire.

71.            Wain minkum illa wariduha kana AAala rabbika hatman maqdiyyan
There is no one among you -- who will not pass over the Hell, this is pre-decided, and to fulfill this judgment is the responsibility of your Râbb.

72.            Thumma nunajjee allatheena ittaqaw wanatharu alththalimeena feeha jithiyyan
Then WE shall save those people who (in this world) were pious and will leave the cruels (Zâlimûn) fallen in it.

73.            Waitha tutla AAalayhim ayatuna bayyinatin qala allatheena kafaroo lillatheena amanoo ayyu alfareeqayni khayrun maqaman waahsanu nadiyyan
When OUR Clear Verses are recited to these people then those who deny say to those who bring Faith: "Tell which one of the two of us is in a better position and whose meetings are splendid?"

74.            Wakam ahlakna qablahum min qarnin hum ahsanu athathan wariyan
Whereas before them WE have destroyed many such nations who had more provisions than these people have and were advance in ostentation (showiness).

97.            Fainnama yassarnahu bilisanika litubashshira bihi almuttaqeena watunthira bihi qawman luddan
Therefore O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), this is why WE have made this (Al-Qur'ân) easy and revealed in your own language so that you may give glad tidings to the pious people (Muttaqûn) and warn the stubborn people.

54.             Kuloo wairAAaw anAAamakum inna fee thalika laayatin liolee alnnuha
Eat and also pasture your cattle.  Certainly there are many signs in it for those who have common sense.  (R) 11

55.             Minha khalaqnakum wafeeha nuAAeedukum waminha nukhrijukum taratan okhra
WE have created you from this earth; WE shall return you into it and from it will bring you out again.

56.             Walaqad araynahu ayatina kullaha fakaththaba waaba
WE showed all OUR Signs to Fir'aun but he kept denying and did not believe.

57.             Qala ajitana litukhrijana min ardina bisihrika ya moosa
(Fir'aun) Began to say: “O Mûsa, have you come to us so that you can expel us from our land with the power of your magic?

58.             Falanatiyannaka bisihrin mithlihi faijAAal baynana wabaynaka mawAAidan la nukhlifuhu nahnu wala anta makanan suwan
Well, we are going to bring the same magic against you.  Decide when and where (you) want to compete.  Neither you nor we should turn-away from this promise.  Come at wide open place.”

59.             Qala mawAAidukum yawmu alzzeenati waan yuhshara alnnasu duhan
Mûsa responded: "The day of festival has been decided, and the people should assemble as the sun rises”.

60.             Fatawalla firAAawnu fajamaAAa kaydahu thumma ata
Fir'aun returned and collected all his equipment and came back in competition.

61.             Qala lahum moosa waylakum la taftaroo AAala Allahi kathiban fayushitakum biAAathabin waqad khaba mani iftara
Mûsa (addressed the opponents at a right time) said: "O miserable people, do not fabricate lies against Allâh, otherwise HE will ruin you by a severe torment.  Whosoever fabricates lie -- he/she is unsuccessful."

62.             FatanazaAAoo amrahum baynahum waasarroo alnnajwa
Hearing this -- difference of opinion arose among them and they secretly start consulting each other.

63.             Qaloo in hathani lasahirani yureedani an yukhrijakum min ardikum bisihrihima wayathhaba bitareeqatikumu almuthla
Finally some people said: "They both are just magicians.  Their objective is to drive you out from your land with the power of their magic and end your exemplary life style.

64.             FaajmiAAoo kaydakum thumma itoo saffan waqad aflaha alyawma mani istaAAla
Today assemble all your plans (devices) and with alliance come into the competition.  Therefore understand that whoever overcomes today will succeed."

65.             Qaloo ya moosa imma an tulqiya waimma an nakoona awwala man alqa
The magicians said: "O Mûsa, Are you going to throw or shall we throw first?"

66.             Qala bal alqoo faitha hibaluhum waAAisiyyuhum yukhayyalu ilayhi min sihrihim annaha tasAAa
Mûsa responded:  "No, you throw (first)."  Suddenly it appeared to Mûsa that their ropes and their sticks are moving around by the power of their magic trick,

67.             Faawjasa fee nafsihi kheefatan moosa
And Mûsa became scared in his heart.

68.             Qulna la takhaf innaka anta alaAAla
WE (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala) said: "Do not fear, you will be the victorious.

69.             Waalqi ma fee yameenika talqaf ma sanaAAoo innama sanaAAoo kaydu sahirin wala yuflihu alssahiru haythu ata
Throw that which is in your hand, right now -- it will swallow all their falsehoods.  Whatever they have fabricated is only a magician's trick and the magicians can never succeed, no matter how skillful he/she may be."

70.             Faolqiya alssaharatu sujjadan qaloo amanna birabbi haroona wamoosa
Eventually this happened that all the magicians were made to fall down in prostration and they cried out: "We believed in the Râbb of Hârûn and Mûsa."

71.             Qala amantum lahu qabla an athana lakum innahu lakabeerukumu allathee AAallamakumu alssihra falaoqattiAAanna aydiyakum waarjulakum min khilafin walaosallibannakum fee juthooAAi alnnakhli walataAAlamunna ayyuna ashaddu AAathaban waabqa
Fir'aun said: "Have you brought Faith in him before I gave you permission?  It is confirmed that he is your chief who taught you magic.  Well, now I will have your hands and feet cut-off from opposite sides and will hang (crucify) you on the trunks of date-palm trees.  Then you will come to know among us whose punishment is severe and long lasting."

72.             Qaloo lan nuthiraka AAala ma jaana mina albayyinati waallathee fatarana faiqdi ma anta qadin innama taqdee hathihi alhayata alddunya
The magicians replied: "By the name of HIM, WHO has created us, it can never happen that after seeing all the clear signs still we prefer you (on truth).  Therefore, do whatever you want to do.  At the most, you can only decide about this life of the world.

73.             Inna amanna birabbina liyaghfira lana khatayana wama akrahtana AAalayhi mina alssihri waAllahu khayrun waabqa
We have brought Faith in our Râbb, so that HE may forgive us our mistakes and from this magic, to which you forced us.
“Allâh is the best and HE is immortal.” --

74.             Innahu man yati rabbahu mujriman fainna lahu jahannama la yamootu feeha wala yahya
The fact is that whoever will come to his/her Râbb as a criminal (Mujrimûn), there is Hell-fire for him/her where he/she will neither live nor die.

75.             Waman yatihi muminan qad AAamila alssalihati faolaika lahumu alddarajatu alAAula
And whoever will come to HIM (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala) as a believer, who has done righteous deeds, there are high ranks for all such people,

76.             Jannatu AAadnin tajree min tahtiha alanharu khalideena feeha wathalika jazao man tazakka
There are everlasting gardens ('Adn, Eden), underneath which canals will be flowing; they will live in it forever.  This is the reward for such (pious) person -- who adopts the purity.  (R) 12

77.             Walaqad awhayna ila moosa an asri biAAibadee faidrib lahum tareeqan fee albahri yabasan la takhafu darakan wala takhsha
WE sent revelation to Mûsa: "Now take out MY servants (Ibâdi) during the night, and made a dry path for them through the sea, you should not have any fear of being followed and nor be afraid (while passing through the sea)."

78.             FaatbaAAahum firAAawnu bijunoodihi faghashiyahum mina alyammi ma ghashiyahum
Pursuing them Fir'aun reached with his army, and then the sea overcastted them, as it should overcast.

79.             Waadalla firAAawnu qawmahu wama hada
Fir'aun had misled his people, and did not guide them correctly.

80.             Ya banee israeela qad anjaynakum min AAaduwwikum wawaAAadnakum janiba alttoori alaymana wanazzalna AAalaykumu almanna waalssalwa
O Children of Israel, WE delivered you from your enemy, and set time for your meeting on the right side of the Tur (mount) and sent down to you sweet dish and quails (manna and saliva)
--

81.             Kuloo min tayyibati ma razaqnakum wala tatghaw feehi fayahilla AAalaykum ghadabee waman yahlil AAalayhi ghadabee faqad hawa
Eat of the pure provisions (Taiyibât) WE have given you and do not rebel after eating it, otherwise MY Calamity will come to you.  And the one on whom MY Calamity come he/she is bound to fall.

82.             Wainnee laghaffarun liman taba waamana waAAamila salihan thumma ihtada
Except the one who repents and brings Faith and does righteous deeds, then keeps following the Straight Path for him/her I AM very forgiving.

83.             Wama aAAjalaka AAan qawmika ya moosa
And O Mûsa what brought you ahead of your people?"

84.             Qala hum olai AAala atharee waAAajiltu ilayka rabbi litarda
He said: "They are just coming behind me.  I have hastened to come to YOU, O my Râbb, so that YOU may be pleased with me."

85.             Qala fainna qad fatanna qawmaka min baAAdika waadallahumu alssamiriyyu
(Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala) Said: "Well, then listen, WE put your people in test after you -- and Samiri (name of a magician) has misled them”.

86.             FarajaAAa moosa ila qawmihi ghadbana asifan qala ya qawmi alam yaAAidkum rabbukum waAAdan hasanan afatala AAalaykumu alAAahdu am aradtum an yahilla AAalaykum ghadabun min rabbikum faakhlaftum mawAAidee
Mûsa returned to his people in state of an anger and sorrow.  Reaching there, he said: "O people of my nation, did your Râbb not make good promises with you?  Did then the promise seem to you long in coming?  Or did you desire to bring the wrath of your Râbb on you that you broke your promise with me?"

87.             Qaloo ma akhlafna mawAAidaka bimalkina walakinna hummilna awzaran min zeenati alqawmi faqathafnaha fakathalika alqa alssamiriyyu
They replied: "We have not intentionally broken the promise with you, the fact is that we were loaded with the burdened of ornaments of the people and, we threw those down.”
-- then the same way Samiri (the magician) also put some in it

88.             Faakhraja lahum AAijlan jasadan lahu khuwarun faqaloo hatha ilahukum wailahu moosa fanasiya
And made a statue of a calf for them, which produces the sound of ox/bull.  The people cried-out:  "This is your deity (ilâh) and the deity of Mûsa and Mûsa has forgotten it”.

89.             Afala yarawna alla yarjiAAu ilayhim qawlan wala yamliku lahum darran wala nafAAan
Did they not see that neither it respond to their prayer and nor it has any power to harm or benefit them?  (R) 13

90.             Walaqad qala lahum haroonu min qablu ya qawmi innama futintum bihi wainna rabbakumu alrrahmanu faittabiAAoonee waateeAAoo amree
(Before Mûsa came) Hârûn had already said to them: "O people, you have embraced the mischief because of it, your Râbb is the Most Loving (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala), so you follow me and take my word."

91.             Qaloo lan nabraha AAalayhi AAakifeena hatta yarjiAAa ilayna moosa
But they said to him: "We will keep worshipping it (the calf) until Mûsa returns to us”.

92.             Qala ya haroonu ma manaAAaka ith raaytahum dalloo
Mûsa (after scolding the nation, turned to Hârûn and) said: "O Hârûn, when you had seen them going astray then what had stopped you

93.             Alla tattabiAAani afaAAasayta amree
That not to follow my way?  Did you disobey my order?"

94.             Qala yabnaomma la takhuth bilihyatee wala birasee innee khasheetu an taqoola farraqta bayna banee israeela walam tarqub qawlee
Hârûn replied: "O son of my mother!  Do not hold my beard, nor pull hair of my head, I had fear of this thing that you will say on your return, that you caused a division among the Children of Israel and did not respect my word."

95.             Qala fama khatbuka ya samiriyyu
Mûsa said: "And Samiri, what about you (what you want to say about this matter)"?

96.             Qala basurtu bima lam yabsuroo bihi faqabadtu qabdatan min athari alrrasooli fanabathtuha wakathalika sawwalat lee nafsee
He (Samiri) replied: "I saw that thing what these people did not see, so I took a handful of dust from the footprint of the Rasool (Angel Jibrael) and threw it (on the casting of calf).  My inner-self gave me this understanding."

97.             Qala faithhab fainna laka fee alhayati an taqoola la misasa wainna laka mawAAidan lan tukhlafahu waonthur ila ilahika allathee thalta AAalayhi AAakifan lanuharriqannahu thumma lanansifannahu fee alyammi nasfan
Mûsa said: "Well then go away, now you have to keep saying all your life, "Do not touch me.”  And there is fixed term for your accountability which will never vanish from you.  And see your deity (ilâh) for which you had been so devoted, now we will burn it and after breaking it into pieces will disseminate in the river."

98.             Innama ilahukumu Allahu allathee la ilaha illa huwa wasiAAa kulla shayin AAilman
O people, your deity (Ilâh) is only One Allâh except HIM there is no other deity (Lâ ilâha illa Huwa), HIS knowledge is prevailing on everything.”

99.             Kathalika naqussu AAalayka min anbai ma qad sabaqa waqad ataynaka min ladunna thikran
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), this is how WE tell you the news of the past events, and WE have given you a “Ziker” (an advice, remembrance) especially from OURSELF.

100.          Man aAArada AAanhu fainnahu yahmilu yawma alqiyamati wizran
Whoever will turn away from it he/she will bear a heavy burden of sin on the Day of Judgment,

101.          Khalideena feehi wasaa lahum yawma alqiyamati himlan
And all such people will be seized in it forever, and on the Day of Judgment, it will be very painful burden (of the responsibility of the sin) for them.

102.          Yawma yunfakhu fee alssoori wanahshuru almujrimeena yawmaithin zurqan
On that Day when the Trumpet will be blown and WE shall gather the criminals (Mujrimûn) in this condition that their eyes will be faintrd (with fear, Zurqa),

103.          Yatakhafatoona baynahum in labithtum illa AAashran
They will whisper to each other: "You hardly have spent ten days in the world" --

104.          Nahnu aAAlamu bima yaqooloona ith yaqoolu amthaluhum tareeqatan in labithtum illa yawman
WE know very well what they will be talking about.  (WE also know this that)  At that moment the one who is most careful estimator among them will say that no, your worldly life was only for one day
---- (R) 14

105.          Wayasaloonaka AAani aljibali faqul yansifuha rabbee nasfan
These people ask you (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) that where these mountains will go on that day?  Say that my Râbb will blow them away by converting into smoke/fumes

106.          Fayatharuha qaAAan safsafan
And will turn the earth into smooth plain

107.          La tara feeha AAiwajan wala amtan
That you will not see any wrinkle or curve in it.
--

108.          Yawmaithin yattabiAAoona alddaAAiya la AAiwaja lahu wakhashaAAati alaswatu lilrrahmani fala tasmaAAu illa hamsan
On that Day all the people will come straight to the call of proclamation, none will show any arrogance.  And all the voices will be humbled before the Most Loving (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala); you will hear nothing except the rustling (hissing noise).

109.          Yawmaithin la tanfaAAu alshshafaAAatu illa man athina lahu alrrahmanu waradiya lahu qawlan
That day no intercession shall avail -- except that the one to whom the Most Loving (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala) has given permission and like to hear his word
--

110.          YaAAlamu ma bayna aydeehim wama khalfahum wala yuheetoona bihi AAilman
HE knows all the past and the future of the people, and others do not have complete knowledge of it
--

111.          WaAAanati alwujoohu lilhayyi alqayyoomi waqad khaba man hamala thulman
The people’s head will bend (humbled) before the Eternal (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala).  The unfortunates will be the ones who will be carrying the burden of sins at that time.

112.          Waman yaAAmal mina alssalihati wahuwa muminun fala yakhafu thulman wala hadman
And there will be no fear of unjust or cruelty for the one who does righteous deeds and as well as he/she should be a believer.

113.          Wakathalika anzalnahu quranan AAarabiyyan wasarrafna feehi mina alwaAAeedi laAAallahum yattaqoona aw yuhdithu lahum thikran
And O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), the same way WE have revealed this Al-Qur'ân in Arabic and have given all-kinds of warnings in it perhaps these people may be saved from stubbornness or some signs of wisdom may come in them because of it.

114.          FataAAala Allahu almaliku alhaqqu wala taAAjal bialqurani min qabli an yuqda ilayka wahyuhu waqul rabbi zidnee AAilman
Therefore Exalted and Elevated is Allâh the True King.  And see (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), do not hasten to recite Al-Qur'ân until its revelation is complete for you and pray that O Râbb give me more knowledge.

115.          Walaqad AAahidna ila adama min qablu fanasiya walam najid lahu AAazman
Before this, WE had given one command to Adam, but he forgot and WE did not find steadfastness in him.  (R) 15

116.          Waith qulna lilmalaikati osjudoo liadama fasajadoo illa ibleesa aba
Recall that time when WE had said to the angels that bow down in prostration before Adam.  They all went into prostration, but it was only Iblîs (Satan) who refused.

117.          Faqulna ya adamu inna hatha AAaduwwun laka walizawjika fala yukhrijannakuma mina aljannati fatashqa
On this (at that moment) WE said to Adam, Look, he is your and your wife’s enemy, it should not be that he get you expelled from the Paradise and you get into trouble.

118.          Inna laka alla tajooAAa feeha wala taAAra
Here you have all these facilities that you neither feel hungry nor stay naked.

119.          Waannaka la tathmao feeha wala tadha
Neither thirst nor (sun’s) heat disturbs you.”

120.          Fawaswasa ilayhi alshshaytanu qala ya adamu hal adulluka AAala shajarati alkhuldi wamulkin la yabla
But Shaitân fascinated him saying, "O Adam, Should I tell you (about) that tree which gives eternal life and boundless kingdom"?

121.          Faakala minha fabadat lahuma sawatuhuma watafiqa yakhsifani AAalayhima min waraqi aljannati waAAasa adamu rabbahu faghawa
Eventually they both (Adam and Eve) ate the fruit of that tree.  Consequently, their private parts immediately appeared to each other and they both began to cover themselves with the leaves of the
Paradise.  Adam disobeyed his Râbb and went astray from the straight (right) path.

122.          Thumma ijtabahu rabbuhu fataba AAalayhi wahada
Then his Râbb chose him and accepted his repentance and gave him guidance

123.          Qala ihbita minha jameeAAan baAAdukum libaAAdin AAaduwwun faimma yatiyannakum minnee hudan famani ittabaAAa hudaya fala yadillu wala yashqa
And (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala) said: "You both (parties, Satan and human) get down from here (
Paradise).  You will remain enemies to each other.  Now if any guidance reaches you from ME then whoever will follow MY Guidance will neither go astray nor fall into misfortune.

124.          Waman aAArada AAan thikree fainna lahu maAAeeshatan dankan wanahshuruhu yawma alqiyamati aAAman
And whoever will turn away from MY “Ziker” (Advice, Guidance) there will be hard life for him/her in the world and WE shall raise him/her blind on the Day of Resurrection"
--

125.          Qala rabbi lima hashartanee aAAma waqad kuntu baseeran
He/she will say, "O Râbb, I was with sight in the world, here why raised me blind?"

126.          Qala kathalika atatka ayatuna fanaseetaha wakathalika alyawma tunsa
Allâh will say, "Yes, the way you had forgotten OUR Revelation (Ayât) when it came to you.  Today the same way you are being forgotten”
--

127.          Wakathalika najzee man asrafa walam yumin biayati rabbihi walaAAathabu alakhirati ashaddu waabqa
This is how WE reward (in the world) to those who violate the limits and do not accept the Revelation (Ayât) of their Râbb, and the punishment of the Hereafter is more severe and more lasting.

128.          Afalam yahdi lahum kam ahlakna qablahum mina alqurooni yamshoona fee masakinihim inna fee thalika laayatin liolee alnnuha
Then have these people not received any guidance (from this lesson of history) that how many generations WE have destroyed before them in whose (destroyed) towns they move around today?  In fact, there are many signs in it for those people who have common-sense.  (R) 16

129.          Walawla kalimatun sabaqat min rabbika lakana lizaman waajalun musamman
If your Râbb had not already decided one thing and a term for respite had not been determined then judgment about them would have been surely passed.

130.          Faisbir AAala ma yaqooloona wasabbih bihamdi rabbika qabla tulooAAi alshshamsi waqabla ghuroobiha wamin anai allayli fasabbih waatrafa alnnahari laAAallaka tarda
Therefore, O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) be patient with that what they say, and glorify your Râbb with HIS praise before the sunrises and before it (sun) sets, and praise HIM during the nighttime and also at the (both) ends of the day (timings for the five compulsory prayers), perhaps you may be pleased.

131.          Wala tamuddanna AAaynayka ila ma mattaAAna bihi azwajan minhum zahrata alhayati alddunya linaftinahum feehi warizqu rabbika khayrun waabqa
And even do not try to see the splendor of this worldly life, which WE have given to various kinds of people among them.  WE have given it to them just to put them to a trial and the lawful provisions given by your Râbb are lot better and more lasting.

132.          Wamur ahlaka bialssalati waistabir AAalayha la nasaluka rizqan nahnu narzuquka waalAAaqibatu lilttaqwa
Urge your family toward prayer (Salât) and you yourself should be punctual to it.  WE do not want any provisions from you.  WE are giving you the provisions.  And the good end is for the piety.

133.          Waqaloo lawla yateena biayatin min rabbihi awa lam tatihim bayyinatu ma fee alssuhufi aloola
They
say, "Why does this person not bring any sign (miracle) from his Râbb?"  And has not a clear sign come to them from all the teachings of the former Scriptures?

134.          Walaw anna ahlaknahum biAAathabin min qablihi laqaloo rabbana lawla arsalta ilayna rasoolan fanattabiAAa ayatika min qabli an nathilla wanakhza
If WE had destroyed them with some misery before its coming then the same people would have said: "Our Râbb, why did YOU not send a Rasool towards us so that we should have followed YOUR Revelation (Ayât) before being humiliated and disgraced."

135.         Qul kullun mutarabbisun fatarabbasoo fasataAAlamoona man ashabu alssirati alssawiyyi wamani ihtada
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), tell them, "Each one is waiting for the end result, therefore now just wait, soon you will come to know that who are following the Straight (right) Path and who are the guided ones.  (R)
