Total Verses: 93

Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi
(I) Begin with the Name of Allâh WHO is Most Loving and Most Merciful

60.            Amman khalaqa alssamawati waalarda waanzala lakum mina alssamai maan faanbatna bihi hadaiqa thata bahjatin ma kana lakum an tunbitoo shajaraha ailahun maAAa Allahi bal hum qawmun yaAAdiloona
Well, WHO is HE (the One) WHO created the skies and the earth and showered down the water from the sky for you -- then with it grew those wonderful gardens whose trees to cause to grow were not in your power?  Is there any other deity (ilâh) except Allâh (who is behind all these things)?  (Absolutely not)  But these are the people, who are turning away from the right path.

61.            Amman jaAAala alarda qararan wajaAAala khilalaha anharan wajaAAala laha rawasiya wajaAAala bayna albahrayni hajizan ailahun maAAa Allahi bal aktharuhum la yaAAlamoona
And WHO is HE (the one) WHO made the earth as a place to rest and caused the rivers to flow in it and fixed the nails of mountains in it and has ordained a barrier between the two seas?  Is there any other deity (ilâh) except Allâh (associated with these
things)?  Not at all, but most of them are ignorant.

62.            Amman yujeebu almudtarra itha daAAahu wayakshifu alssooa wayajAAalukum khulafaa alardi ailahun maAAa Allahi qaleelan ma tathakkaroona
WHO is HE (the one) WHO listens to the prayers of distressed when he/she calls HIM and WHO redresses his/her grievance?  And (who is HE who) makes you caliph (administrator) in the earth?  Is there any other deity (ilâh, who can do all these things) except Allâh?  You people rarely think.

63.            Amman yahdeekum fee thulumati albarri waalbahri waman yursilu alrriyaha bushran bayna yaday rahmatihi ailahun maAAa Allahi taAAala Allahu AAamma yushrikoona
And WHO is HE -- WHO guides you in the darkness of the land and the sea and WHO sends the winds as messenger of glad tidings?  Is there any other deity (ilâh, who does this thing) with Allâh?  High Exalted is Allâh above from that idolatry (shirk) which they commit.

64.            Amman yabdao alkhalqa thumma yuAAeeduhu waman yarzuqukum mina alssamai waalardi ailahun maAAa Allahi qul hatoo burhanakum in kuntum sadiqeena
And WHO is HE -- WHO originates the creation and then repeats it, and WHO provides you the provisions from the skies and the earth?  Is there any other deity (ilâh, associated with these things) with Allâh?  Say, "Bring your proof if you are truthful.

65.            Qul la yaAAlamu man fee alssamawati waalardi alghayba illa Allahu wama yashAAuroona ayyana yubAAathoona
Tell them, "No one has the knowledge of unseen (Ghaib) in the skies and the earth except Allâh.  And your deities even do not know when they will be raised (again).

66.            Bali iddaraka AAilmuhum fee alakhirati bal hum fee shakkin minha bal hum minha AAamoona
But the knowledge of the Hereafter has been lost from these people, and they are in doubt about it, but they are blind about it.  (R) 1

67.            Waqala allatheena kafaroo aitha kunna turaban waabaona ainna lamukhrajoona
These unbelievers say: "Shall we be really raised up again from the graves when we and our forefathers will have become dust?

68.            Laqad wuAAidna hatha nahnu waabaona min qablu in hatha illa asateeru alawwaleena
These news have been given to us a lot and have also been given to our forefathers before, but these are merely tales of ancients which we have been hearing since the old times."

69.            Qul seeroo fee alardi faonthuroo kayfa kana AAaqibatu almujrimeena
Say, travel through the land and see what has been the end of the criminals.

70.            Wala tahzan AAalayhim wala takun fee dayqin mimma yamkuroona
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), do not grieve on their condition and nor feel distressed at their tricks --

71.            Wayaqooloona mata hatha alwaAAdu in kuntum sadiqeena
They ask: "When will this promise be fulfilled if you are truthful?"

72.            Qul AAasa an yakoona radifa lakum baAAdu allathee tastaAAjiloona
Say: "It may be that the punishment for which you wish to hasten a part of it may has come closer to you.

73.            Wainna rabbaka lathoo fadlin AAala alnnasi walakinna aktharahum la yashkuroona
The fact is that your Râbb is Gracious to the people, but most of the people are not grateful."

74.            Wainna rabbaka layaAAlamu ma tukinnu sudooruhum wama yuAAlinoona
No doubt your Râbb knows very well whatever their hearts have hidden in it and whatever they disclose.

75.            Wama min ghaibatin fee alssamai waalardi illa fee kitabin mubeenin
There is no such hidden thing in the heaven and in the earth that is not recorded in a Clear Book (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfûz).

76.            Inna hatha alqurana yaqussu AAala banee israeela akthara allathee hum feehi yakhtalifoona
The fact is that Al-Qur'ân narrates the reality of those things to the Children of Israel about which they differ.

77.            Wainnahu lahudan warahmatun lilmumineena
And it is guidance, and mercy for those who bring Faith.

78.            Inna rabbaka yaqdee baynahum bihukmihi wahuwa alAAazeezu alAAaleemu
Certainly, (the same way) your Râbb will also decide between these people by HIS Judgment and HE is All Powerful and All-Knowing.

79.            Fatawakkal AAala Allahi innaka AAala alhaqqi almubeeni
Therefore O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), trust in Allâh surely you are on a clear truth.

80.            Innaka la tusmiAAu almawta wala tusmiAAu alssumma aldduAAaa itha wallaw mudbireena
You cannot make the dead to hear, nor you can make those deaf to hear your call -- who are running away by turning their backs,

81.            Wama anta bihadee alAAumyi AAan dalalatihim in tusmiAAu illa man yuminu biayatina fahum muslimoona
And nor you can prevent the blinds from straying by guiding them to the right path, you can only make those people to hear -- who bring Faith in OUR Revelation (Ayât) and then become obedient.

82.            Waitha waqaAAa alqawlu AAalayhim akhrajna lahum dabbatan mina alardi tukallimuhum anna alnnasa kanoo biayatina la yooqinoona
And when the time to fulfill OUR Word will approach to them then WE shall bring out an animal from the earth for them, who will speak to them because people did not believe in OUR Revelation (Ayât)
.  (R) 2

83.            Wayawma nahshuru min kulli ommatin fawjan mimman yukaththibu biayatina fahum yoozaAAoona
And just imagine about that Day when WE shall gather together from every nation a crowd of those people who used to deny OUR Revelation (Ayât), then they all shall be arranged (according to their kinds of classifications),

84.            Hatta itha jaoo qala akaththabtum biayatee walam tuheetoo biha AAilman ammatha kuntum taAAmaloona
Until when they all will come, then (their Râbb) will ask from them: "You rejected MY Revelation (Ayât) whereas you did not knowledgeably comprehend them?  If not this -- then what else were you doing?"

85.            WawaqaAAa alqawlu AAalayhim bima thalamoo fahum la yantiqoona
And the promise of punishment will be fulfilled against them because of their cruelty, and then they will not be able to speak anything.

86.            Alam yaraw anna jaAAalna allayla liyaskunoo feehi waalnnahara mubsiran inna fee thalika laayatin liqawmin yuminoona
Did they not perceive that WE had made the night for them to rest and lighted the day?  There were many signs in it for those people who used to bring Faith.

87.            Wayawma yunfakhu fee alssoori fafaziAAa man fee alssamawati waman fee alardi illa man shaa Allahu wakullun atawhu dakhireena
And what will happen that Day when the Trumpet will be blown and they all will be terrified -- who are in the skies and on the earth -- except those people whom Allâh wanted to save from this horrible thing --and all shall come to HIM in submission.

88.            Watara aljibala tahsabuha jamidatan wahiya tamurru marra alssahabi sunAAa Allahi allathee atqana kulla shayin innahu khabeerun bima tafAAaloona
Today you see the mountains and think that they are firmly fixed, but at that time they will be flying like clouds, it will be miracle of the Power of Allâh WHO has ordained all things with wisdom.  HE knows very well whatever you do.

89.            Man jaa bialhasanati falahu khayrun minha wahum min fazaAAin yawmaithin aminoona
The one who will bring good deeds he/she will get much better reward than its worth and such people will be protected from the terror of that Day,

90.            Waman jaa bialssayyiati fakubbat wujoohuhum fee alnnari hal tujzawna illa ma kuntum taAAmaloona
And whoever come with evil deeds, all such people will be thrown into the fire on their faces down.  Can you get any other reward except this, as you sow so shall you reap (reward according to your deeds)?"

91.            Innama omirtu an aAAbuda rabba hathihi albaldati allathee harramaha walahu kullu shayin waomirtu an akoona mina almuslimeena
(O Prophet, Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, tell them) I have been commanded only to serve the Râbb of this City (Makkah) WHO has made it sacred and WHO is the Owner of everything.  I have been commanded to live as a Muslim,

92.            Waan atluwa alqurana famani ihtada fainnama yahtadee linafsihi waman dalla faqul innama ana mina almunthireena
And recite this Al-Qur'ân (to them)”.  Now whosoever will embrace the guidance, will embrace it for the good of his/her own-self and whosoever goes astray, tell him/her: "I am only a warner."

93.            Waquli alhamdu lillahi sayureekum ayatihi fataAArifoonaha wama rabbuka bighafilin AAamma taAAmaloona
Say to them,  "Praise is only for Allâh -- soon HE will show you HIS Signs (Ayât) and you will recognizes them, and your Râbb is not unaware of those deeds which you people do."  (R) 3

1.               TâSînMîm

WE correctly narrate to you some of the circumstances of Mûsa and Fir'aun, for the benefit of such people who bring Faith.

The reality is that Fir'aun revolted in the land and divided its people into groups (sects).  He used to humiliate one of the groups from among them killing their sons and used to let their daughters to live.  In fact, he was one of the mischief-makers (Mufsidûn).

5.                Wanureedu an namunna AAala allatheena istudAAifoo fee alardi wanajAAalahum aimmatan wanajAAalahumu alwaritheena

10.            Waasbaha fuadu ommi moosa farighan in kadat latubdee bihi lawla an rabatna AAala qalbiha litakoona mina almumineena
On the other hand, the heart of Mûsa’s mother was frightened.  She would have disclosed the secret if WE had not strengthened her heart so that she might be among the believers (of OUR promise).

11.            Waqalat liokhtihi qusseehi fabasurat bihi AAan junubin wahum la yashAAuroona
She said to the child's sister (Musa's sister) go after him.  Therefore, she has been watching him from a distance in such a way that (the enemies) did not notice it.

12.            Waharramna AAalayhi almaradiAAa min qablu faqalat hal adullukum AAala ahli baytin yakfuloonahu lakum wahum lahu nasihoona

14.            Walamma balagha ashuddahu waistawa ataynahu hukman waAAilman wakathalika najzee almuhsineena
When Mûsa reached to his full strength and his growth was completed then WE gave him judgment (Hukman) and knowledge; WE give such reward to the pious people (Muhsinûn).

15.            Wadakhala almadeenata AAala heeni ghaflatin min ahliha fawajada feeha rajulayni yaqtatilani hatha min sheeAAatihi wahatha min AAaduwwihi faistaghathahu allathee min sheeAAatihi AAala allathee min AAaduwwihi fawakazahu moosa faqada AAalayhi qala hatha min AAamali alshshaytani innahu AAaduwwun mudillun mubeenun
(One day) He entered the city at such a time when the people of the city were asleep.  There he saw that two men were fighting.  One was of his own-nation and the other was from his enemy’s nation.  The person of his nation called him for help against the person of his enemy’s nation.  Mûsa struck him with his fist and killed him.  (As it happened)  Mûsa said: "This is Shaitân's act; he is deadly enemy and an open betrayer”.

16.            Qala rabbi innee thalamtu nafsee faighfir lee faghafara lahu innahu huwa alghafooru alrraheemu
Then he began to say: "O my Râbb, I have done wrong to myself, forgive me”.  Therefore, Allâh forgave him; HE is Forgiving and Loving.

17.            Qala rabbi bima anAAamta AAalayya falan akoona thaheeran lilmujrimeena
Mûsa pledged: "O my Râbb, the mercy you have done to me after this now I will never become helper of the criminals (Mujrimûn)".

18.            Faasbaha fee almadeenati khaifan yataraqqabu faitha allathee istansarahu bialamsi yastasrikhuhu qala lahu moosa innaka laghawiyyun mubeenun
The next day early in the morning he was walking through the city in a state of fear and danger from all sides, then suddenly he saw that the same person who had called him yesterday for help -- is calling him today again.  Mûsa said: "You are certainly misguided person!"

19.            Falamma an arada an yabtisha biallathee huwa AAaduwwun lahuma qala ya moosa atureedu an taqtulanee kama qatalta nafsan bialamsi in tureedu illa an takoona jabbaran fee alardi wama tureedu an takoona mina almusliheena
Then when Mûsa decided to attack the man of enemy’s nation, he cried out: "O Mûsa, are you going to kill me the same way as you have killed a person yesterday?  You want to live in this country as a tyrant, do not want to reform."

20.            Wajaa rajulun min aqsa almadeenati yasAAa qala ya moosa inna almalaa yatamiroona bika liyaqtulooka faokhruj innee laka mina alnnasiheena
After this, a person came running from the other end of the city and said: "O Mûsa, the chiefs are counseling to kill you, get out of here, I am your well-wisher”.

21.            Fakharaja minha khaifan yataraqqabu qala rabbi najjinee mina alqawmi alththalimeena
Hearing this news Mûsa left the place in a state of fear and wariness and he prayed: "O my Râbb, save me from the cruel people (Zâlimûn).”  (R) 5

22.            Walamma tawajjaha tilqaa madyana qala AAasa rabbee an yahdiyanee sawaa alssabeeli
(Getting out of Egypt) When Mûsa went to Madyan (Midian) he said, "I hope that my Râbb will put me on the straight path”.

23.            Walamma warada maa madyana wajada AAalayhi ommatan mina alnnasi yasqoona wawajada min doonihimu imraatayni tathoodani qala ma khatbukuma qalata la nasqee hatta yusdira alrriAAao waaboona shaykhun kabeerun
And when he arrived at the water-well of Madyan (Midian) then he saw that many people are watering their animals and apart from them two women are keeping back their animals.  Mûsa asked from those women: "What is your worry?"  They replied: "We cannot water our animals until these shepherds take away their animals, and our father is a very old man."

24.            Fasaqa lahuma thumma tawalla ila alththilli faqala rabbi innee lima anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqeerun
Hearing this Mûsa watered their animals (for them), then he went and sat in a shady place and said: "O Râbb, whatever good YOU bestow on me I desperately need it!"

25.            Fajaathu ihdahuma tamshee AAala istihyain qalat inna abee yadAAooka liyajziyaka ajra ma saqayta lana falamma jaahu waqassa AAalayhi alqasasa qala la takhaf najawta mina alqawmi alththalimeena
(It was not a long when) One of the two women came to him walking bashfully and said, "My father is calling you so that he may reward you for watering our animals for us”.  When Mûsa came to him and narrated his story to him then he said: "Don’t fear; now you have escaped from those cruel people (Zâlimûn)”.

26.            Qalat ihdahuma ya abati istajirhu inna khayra mani istajarta alqawiyyu alameenu
One of the two women said to her father: "O my father, hire this person as a servant, the best person for you to hire as a servant can be the one who is strong and the trustworthy."

27.            Qala innee oreedu an onkihaka ihda ibnatayya hatayni AAala an tajuranee thamaniya hijajin fain atmamta AAashran famin AAindika wama oreedu an ashuqqa AAalayka satajidunee in shaa Allahu mina alssaliheena
Her father said (to Mûsa): "I intend to wed one of my two daughters to you provided that you serve me for eight years, and if you wish you may complete ten years.  I do not want to be hard on you.  If Allâh will (Insha-Allâh) you will find me righteous person."

28.            Qala thalika baynee wabaynaka ayyama alajalayni qadaytu fala AAudwana AAalayya waAllahu AAala ma naqoolu wakeelun
Mûsa responded: "It is settled between you and I.  Whichever of the two terms I fulfill then after that no injustice would be done to me, and whatever we are promising Allâh is witness on it."  (R) 6

29.            Falamma qada moosa alajala wasara biahlihi anasa min janibi alttoori naran qala liahlihi omkuthoo innee anastu naran laAAallee ateekum minha bikhabarin aw jathwatin mina alnnari laAAallakum tastaloona
When Mûsa completed the term and he left with his family then he saw fire in the direction of Tûr (Mount).  He said to his family: "Wait, I have seen fire, perhaps I may bring some information from there or get a burning piece of wood with which you may warm yourselves”.

30.            Falamma ataha noodiya min shatii alwadi alaymani fee albuqAAati almubarakati mina alshshajarati an ya moosa innee ana Allahu rabbu alAAalameena
When he reached there, he was called from the tree on right side of the blessed place: "O Mûsa, I am Allâh the Râbb of all the worlds ('Alamîn).”

31.            Waan alqi AAasaka falamma raaha tahtazzu kaannaha jannun walla mudbiran walam yuAAaqqib ya moosa aqbil wala takhaf innaka mina alamineena
And (it was commanded that) throw down your stick.  The moment Mûsa saw that the stick is twisting like a snake; he turned his back, fled, and did not even look behind.  (It was said): "O Mûsa come back and do not fear, you are completely safe.

32.            Osluk yadaka fee jaybika takhruj baydaa min ghayri sooin waodmum ilayka janahaka mina alrrahbi fathanika burhanani min rabbika ila firAAawna wamalaihi innahum kanoo qawman fasiqeena
Put your hand in the breast of garment (it) will come out shining without any pain.  And to release fear squeeze your hand.  These are the two clear signs (Burhân) from your Râbb to present before Fir'aun and the people of his court -- they are very disobedient people (Fâsiqûn).

33.            Qala rabbi innee qataltu minhum nafsan faakhafu an yaqtulooni
Mûsa submitted: "My Râbb, I have killed one of their man, I fear that they will kill me

34.            Waakhee haroonu huwa afsahu minnee lisanan faarsilhu maAAiya ridan yusaddiqunee innee akhafu an yukaththibooni
And my brother Hârûn is more eloquent (in speech) than I, send him with me as a helper so that he should support me, I fear that they will reject me."

35.            Qala sanashuddu AAadudaka biakheeka wanajAAalu lakuma sultanan fala yasiloona ilaykuma biayatina antuma wamani ittabaAAakuma alghaliboona
(Allâh, subhaana wa ta'aala) Said: "WE will strengthen your hand through your brother and will grant such power to you both that they will not be able to harm you at all.  With the power of OUR Signs (Ayât) you and your followers will be victorious."

36.            Falamma jaahum moosa biayatina bayyinatin qaloo ma hatha illa sihrun muftaran wama samiAAna bihatha fee abaina alawwaleena
Then when Mûsa came to those people with OUR Clear Signs (Ayât), they said: "It is nothing but a fabricated magic.  And we never heard these things in the time of our forefathers."

37.            Waqala moosa rabbee aAAlamu biman jaa bialhuda min AAindihi waman takoonu lahu AAaqibatu alddari innahu la yuflihu alththalimoona
Mûsa responded: "My Râbb is fully aware of that person who has brought guidance from HIM and HE knows better that whose end-result is going to be the best, the truth is that the cruel people (Zâlimûn) never succeed."

38.            Waqala firAAawnu ya ayyuha almalao ma AAalimtu lakum min ilahin ghayree faawqid lee ya hamanu AAala altteeni faijAAal lee sarhan laAAallee attaliAAu ila ilahi moosa wainnee laathunnuhu mina alkathibeena
And Fir'aun said: "O people of the court, I do not know any of your deity (ilâh) except myself.  Hâmân, get the bricks baked and build me a tall building, perhaps by climbing on it I may be able to see Mûsa's Allâh (Ilâh), I consider him a liar."

39.            Waistakbara huwa wajunooduhu fee alardi bighayri alhaqqi wathannoo annahum ilayna la yurjaAAoona
He and his armies were arrogant in the land without any truth and thought that they have never to return to US.

40.            Faakhathnahu wajunoodahu fanabathnahum fee alyammi faonthur kayfa kana AAaqibatu alththalimeena
Eventually, WE seized him and his armies and threw (them all) into the sea.  Now see -- what was the end-result of those cruel people (Zâlimûn)!

41.            WajaAAalnahum aimmatan yadAAoona ila alnnari wayawma alqiyamati la yunsaroona
WE made them leaders inviting towards the Hell-Fire and they will not be able to find any help from anywhere on the Day of Resurrection.

42.            WaatbaAAnahum fee hathihi alddunya laAAnatan wayawma alqiyamati hum mina almaqbooheena
WE set a curse to follow them in this world and they will be in severe difficulty (Al-Maqbuhûn) on the Day of Judgment.  (R) 7

43.            Walaqad atayna moosa alkitaba min baAAdi ma ahlakna alquroona aloola basaira lilnnasi wahudan warahmatan laAAallahum yatathakkaroona
After destroying the former generations, WE gave Mûsa a Book (Taurât), as a means of enlightenment for the mankind, as guidance and a mercy, so that the people may learn lesson.

44.            Wama kunta bijanibi algharbiyyi ith qadayna ila moosa alamra wama kunta mina alshshahideena
(O Prophet, Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) At that time you were not present on the western side (of the Mount) when WE gave this Divine Law to Mûsa, and nor you were among the witnesses.

45.            Walakinna anshana quroonan fatatawala AAalayhimu alAAumuru wama kunta thawiyan fee ahli madyana tatloo AAalayhim ayatina walakinna kunna mursileena
But after that WE have raised many generations (till your time) and a long time has passed over them.  You were also not present among the people of Madyan (Midian) that (you, Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) might be reciting OUR Verses to them, but WE are the sender (of this news of that time).

46.            Wama kunta bijanibi alttoori ith nadayna walakin rahmatan min rabbika litunthira qawman ma atahum min natheerin min qablika laAAallahum yatathakkaroona
And you were also not present at the bottom of the Tûr (Mount) -- when WE called (Mûsa first time),
but this is mercy of your Râbb (that these information are being given to you, Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) so that you should warn those people to whom no warner had come before you -- perhaps they may come to their senses.

47.            Walawla an tuseebahum museebatun bima qaddamat aydeehim fayaqooloo rabbana lawla arsalta ilayna rasoolan fanattabiAAa ayatika wanakoona mina almumineena
(And WE have done it so that) It should not be that when any calamity seizes them because of their own misdeeds, they should say: "O Râbb, why did YOU not send any Rasool to us that we should have followed YOUR Revelation (Ayât) and should be among the believers."

48.            Falamma jaahumu alhaqqu min AAindina qaloo lawla ootiya mithla ma ootiya moosa awa lam yakfuroo bima ootiya moosa min qablu qaloo sihrani tathahara waqaloo inna bikullin kafiroona
But when the truth came from US to them, they began to say: "Why has he not been given that what was given to Mûsa?"  Have these people not denied that which had been given to Mûsa before?  They said: "Both are magic (the Taurât and Al-Qur'ân) which help each other.”  And said: "We do not believe in any of them."

49.            Qul fatoo bikitabin min AAindi Allahi huwa ahda minhuma attabiAAhu in kuntum sadiqeena
(O Prophet, Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) Ask them: "Well if you are truthful then bring any Book from Allâh -- which may give better guidance than these two (the Taurât and Al-Qur'ân), I shall follow it (the same book)."

50.            Fain lam yastajeeboo laka faiAAlam annama yattabiAAoona ahwaahum waman adallu mimmani ittabaAAa hawahu bighayri hudan mina Allahi inna Allaha la yahdee alqawma alththalimeena
Now if they do not fulfill your this demand then should know that they are the followers of their own desires, and who else would be more astray than the one who follows his/her own desire without guidance from Allâh?  Allâh does not guide such cruel people (Zâlimûn) at all.  (R) 8

51.            Walaqad wassalna lahumu alqawla laAAallahum yatathakkaroona
And WE have delivered OUR Word (an advice) to them repeatedly -- so that they may come out of negligence.

52.            Allatheena ataynahumu alkitaba min qablihi hum bihi yuminoona
Those people whom WE gave the Book before it, they bring Faith in it (Al-Qur'ân).

53.            Waitha yutla AAalayhim qaloo amanna bihi innahu alhaqqu min rabbina inna kunna min qablihi muslimeena
And when it is recited to them then they say: "We brought Faith in it, it is really the truth from our Râbb and we are already Muslims (submitted ourselves to Allâh, subhaana wa ta'aala)”.

54.            Olaika yutawna ajrahum marratayni bima sabaroo wayadraoona bialhasanati alssayyiata wamimma razaqnahum yunfiqoona
These are those people whom their reward will be given twice for that firmness which they have shown.  They repel evil with good and whatever provisions WE have given to them they spend from it.

55.            Waitha samiAAoo allaghwa aAAradoo AAanhu waqaloo lana aAAmaluna walakum aAAmalukum salamun AAalaykum la nabtaghee aljahileena
And when they heard dirty talk, (AlLaghw) they withdrew from it saying: "Our deeds are for us and your deeds are for you, good-bye to you, we do not want to adopt the path of illiterates”.

56.            Innaka la tahdee man ahbabta walakinna Allaha yahdee man yashao wahuwa aAAlamu bialmuhtadeena
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), you cannot give guidance to whom you want, but Allâh gives guidance to whom HE wants and HE knows those people very well who are going to accept guidance.

57.            Waqaloo in nattabiAAi alhuda maAAaka nutakhattaf min ardina awa lam numakkin lahum haraman aminan yujba ilayhi thamaratu kulli shayin rizqan min ladunna walakinna aktharahum la yaAAlamoona
They say: "If we follow this guidance with you then we would be taken away from our land”.  Is it not true that WE made a peaceful sanctuary (Makkah) -- a living place for them, towards which all sorts of fruits keep coming, as provisions from US?  But most of the people among them do not know.

58.            Wakam ahlakna min qaryatin batirat maAAeeshataha fatilka masakinuhum lam tuskan min baAAdihim illa qaleelan wakunna nahnu alwaritheena
And how many such towns WE have destroyed -- whose people became arrogant on their economy/wealth.  Therefore, see those are their dwellings in which anyone has seldom lived after them, eventually WE became the inheritors.

59.            Wama kana rabbuka muhlika alqura hatta yabAAatha fee ommiha rasoolan yatloo AAalayhim ayatina wama kunna muhlikee alqura illa waahluha thalimoona
And your Râbb was not going to destroy the towns until (HE) sends a Rasool in their center -- who would have recited OUR Revelation (Verses) to them.  And WE were not going to destroy the towns unless its dwellers would have become cruel (Zâlimûn).

60.            Wama ooteetum min shayin famataAAu alhayati alddunya wazeenatuha wama AAinda Allahi khayrun waabqa afala taAAqiloona
Whatever you people have been given that are merely provision of worldly life and its beautification, and whatever is with Allâh that is much better than this and is eternal.  Do you not use your commonsense?  (R) 9

61.            Afaman waAAadnahu waAAdan hasanan fahuwa laqeehi kaman mattaAAnahu mataAAa alhayati alddunya thumma huwa yawma alqiyamati mina almuhdareena
Well, the person with whom WE have made an excellent promise and he/she is going to get it, can ever be like a person to whom WE have just given the provisions of this worldly life and then on the Day of Judgment he/she is going to be presented for the punishment?

62.            Wayawma yunadeehim fayaqoolu ayna shurakaiya allatheena kuntum tazAAumoona
And (these people should not forget) the Day when HE will call them and will ask: "Where are MY those partners (shorakâs) for whom you have the pride?"

63.            Qala allatheena haqqa AAalayhimu alqawlu rabbana haolai allatheena aghwayna aghwaynahum kama ghawayna tabarrana ilayka ma kanoo iyyana yaAAbudoona
Those who are proven guilty as charged -- will say: "O our Râbb, no doubt these are the people whom we led astray.  We led them astray as we ourselves went astray.  We declare withdrawal (from them) in fornt of YOU.  They did not use to worship us"

64.            Waqeela odAAoo shurakaakum fadaAAawhum falam yastajeeboo lahum waraawoo alAAathaba law annahum kanoo yahtadoona
Then it will be said to them: "Now call those taken deities (shorakâs) whom you associated as partner with Allâh.  They will call them but they will not give any answer to them.  And these people will see the torment.  Would that!  They would be the ones to follow the guidance.

65.            Wayawma yunadeehim fayaqoolu matha ajabtumu almursaleena
And (these people should not forget) the Day when HE will call them and will ask: "What answer did you give to the Rasools who were sent to you?"

66.            FaAAamiyat AAalayhimu alanbao yawmaithin fahum la yatasaaloona
At that time no answer will come to their mind and nor even they will be able to ask one another.

67.            Faamma man taba waamana waAAamila salihan faAAasa an yakoona mina almufliheena
Although whoever repented today and brought Faith, and did righteous deeds -- only he/she can expect that he/she will be among the successful.

68.            Warabbuka yakhluqu ma yashao wayakhtaru ma kana lahumu alkhiyaratu subhana Allahi wataAAala AAamma yushrikoona
Your Râbb creates whatsoever (HE) wills and chooses (for HIS work whomsoever HE wants); this choice is not for these people to make.  Allâh is Pure and Exalted above that idolatry (shirk) which these people commit.

69.            Warabbuka yaAAlamu ma tukinnu sudooruhum wama yuAAlinoona
Your Râbb knows what they have hidden in their hearts and what they disclose.

70.            Wahuwa Allahu la ilaha illa huwa lahu alhamdu fee aloola waalakhirati walahu alhukmu wailayhi turjaAAoona
HE is Allâh -- the One except HIM no one is worthy of worship (Lâ ilâha illa Huwa).  Praise is for HIM in this world as well as in the Hereafter, HIS is the Sovereignty and you all shall be returned to HIM.

71.            Qul araaytum in jaAAala Allahu AAalaykumu allayla sarmadan ila yawmi alqiyamati man ilahun ghayru Allahi yateekum bidiyain afala tasmaAAoona
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), ask them have you ever ponder upon that if Allâh overcast night on you forever till the Day of Resurrection then which deity (ilâh) except Allâh could bring you light?  Don’t you hear?"

72.            Qul araaytum in jaAAala Allahu AAalaykumu alnnahara sarmadan ila yawmi alqiyamati man ilahun ghayru Allahi yateekum bilaylin taskunoona feehi afala tubsiroona
Ask them, have you ever thought that if Allâh outshine day over you forever until the Day of Resurrection then which deity (ilâh) except Allâh would bring you night so that you can rest?  Don’t you perceive (ponder upon)?"

73.            Wamin rahmatihi jaAAala lakumu allayla waalnnahara litaskunoo feehi walitabtaghoo min fadlihi walaAAallakum tashkuroona
It is HIS Mercy that HE has made the night and the day for you so that you may rest (at night) and seek HIS Bounty (during the day) -- perhaps you may become grateful.

74.            Wayawma yunadeehim fayaqoolu ayna shurakaiya allatheena kuntum tazAAumoona
(These people should remember) The Day when HE will call them and will ask: "Where are MY those partners for whom you used to have pride?"

75.            WanazaAAna min kulli ommatin shaheedan faqulna hatoo burhanakum faAAalimoo anna alhaqqa lillahi wadalla AAanhum ma kanoo yaftaroona
And WE shall bring forth a witness from every nation then (WE) shall say: "Bring your proof”.  At that time they will come to know that the truth is with Allâh (Alone), and their lies will disappear which they had invented.  (R) 10

76.            Inna qaroona kana min qawmi moosa fabagha AAalayhim waataynahu mina alkunoozi ma inna mafatihahu latanooo bialAAusbati olee alquwwati ith qala lahu qawmuhu la tafrah inna Allaha la yuhibbu alfariheena
It is fact that Qâroon (Korah) was a person of Mûsa's nation, then he became rebellious against his nation.  And WE had given him innumerable treasures that a group of strong people could hardly lift even its keys.  Once when the people of his nation said to him: "Do not brag, Allâh does not like those who boast.

77.            Waibtaghi feema ataka Allahu alddara alakhirata wala tansa naseebaka mina alddunya waahsin kama ahsana Allahu ilayka wala tabghi alfasada fee alardi inna Allaha la yuhibbu almufsideena
The wealth Allâh has given you -- with it think to built a home in the Hereafter and also do not forget your share from this world.  Do kindness as Allâh has done kindness to you, and do not try to make mischief in the land; Allâh does not like the mischief-makers (Mufsidûn)”.

78.            Qala innama ooteetuhu AAala AAilmin AAindee awa lam yaAAlam anna Allaha qad ahlaka min qablihi mina alqurooni man huwa ashaddu minhu quwwatan waaktharu jamAAan wala yusalu AAan thunoobihimu almujrimoona
Then he said, "This all has been given to me only because of that knowledge which I possess" -- Did he not know that Allâh has destroyed many such people before him, who had more power and strength than him?  The criminals (Mujrimûn) are not questioned about their sins.

79.            Fakharaja AAala qawmihi fee zeenatihi qala allatheena yureedoona alhayata alddunya ya layta lana mithla ma ootiya qaroonu innahu lathoo haththin AAatheemin
One day he came out before his people in his all splendors.  Those people who were desirous of this worldly life saw him and said: "Would that!  We have been given the same -- what is given to Qâroon (Korah), he is very fortunate.
"

80.            Waqala allatheena ootoo alAAilma waylakum thawabu Allahi khayrun liman amana waAAamila salihan wala yulaqqaha illa alssabiroona
But those people who had the knowledge they said: "Woe to your condition, the reward of Allâh is better for the one who brings Faith and does righteous deeds, and this wealth is not given to anyone but to those who observe patient."

81.            Fakhasafna bihi wabidarihi alarda fama kana lahu min fiatin yansuroonahu min dooni Allahi wama kana mina almuntasireena
Finally, WE sank him and his house in the earth.  Then there was no group of his supporters that could have come to help him against Allâh and nor he could help himself.

82.            Waasbaha allatheena tamannaw makanahu bialamsi yaqooloona waykaanna Allaha yabsutu alrrizqa liman yashao min AAibadihi wayaqdiru lawla an manna Allahu AAalayna lakhasafa bina waykaannahu la yuflihu alkafiroona
Now the same people who were desiring to be like him started saying, “Woe, we had forgotten that Allâh from among HIS servants increases the provisions for whom HE pleases and whom HE wants gives limited (moderate capacity)”.  If Allâh had not done kindness to us then HE would have also sunk us in the earth.  Woe, we did not remember that the infidels (Kafir) do not attain success”.  (R) 11

83.            Tilka alddaru alakhiratu najAAaluha lillatheena la yureedoona AAuluwwan fee alardi wala fasadan waalAAaqibatu lilmuttaqeena
WE will reserve the house of Hereafter for those people who do not want their fame in the land and nor want to spread mischief.  And consequently, the righteousness is only for those who fear Allâh.

84.            Man jaa bialhasanati falahu khayrun minha waman jaa bialssayyiati fala yujza allatheena AAamiloo alssayyiati illa ma kanoo yaAAmaloona
Whosoever will come with righteousness there is a better reward for him/her than it, and whoever will come with evils then they will be rewarded according to their deeds as they had been doing.

85.            Inna allathee farada AAalayka alqurana laradduka ila maAAadin qul rabbee aAAlamu man jaa bialhuda waman huwa fee dalalin mubeenin
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), be sure that HE WHO has decreed this Al-Qur’ân on you HE is going to bring you to the best destination.  Tell these people, “My Râbb knows very well that who has brought the guidance and who is in clear error”.

86.            Wama kunta tarjoo an yulqa ilayka alkitabu illa rahmatan min rabbika fala takoonanna thaheeran lilkafireena
You were never candidate of this thing that this Book will be revealed to you -- only with the Mercy of your Râbb (this has been revealed to you, Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam therefore you do not become the helper of the infidels -- Kafir).

87.            Wala yasuddunnaka AAan ayati Allahi baAAda ith onzilat ilayka waodAAu ila rabbika wala takoonanna mina almushrikeena
And it (such) should never happen that when the Revelation of Allâh is sent down to you then the infidels keep you away from it.  Invite towards your Râbb and never join those who associate partners with Allâh (Mushriks)

88.            Wala tadAAu maAAa Allahi ilahan akhara la ilaha illa huwa kullu shayin halikun illa wajhahu lahu alhukmu wailayhi turjaAAoona
And do not call any other deities with Allâh.  There is no other deity (ilâh) except Allâh.  Everything is going to die except HIM.  Sovereignty is HIS and you all are going to be taken back to HIM.  (R) 12

3.               Walaqad fatanna allatheena min qablihim falayaAAlamanna Allahu allatheena sadaqoo walayaAAlamanna alkathibeena

4.               Am hasiba allatheena yaAAmaloona alssayyiati an yasbiqoona saa ma yahkumoona

7.               Waallatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati lanukaffiranna AAanhum sayyiatihim walanajziyannahum ahsana allathee kanoo yaAAmaloona
And those people who will bring Faith and will do righteous deeds, WE shall discharge (clean) their sins and shall reward them for their excellent deeds.

8.               Wawassayna alinsana biwalidayhi husnan wain jahadaka litushrika bee ma laysa laka bihi AAilmun fala tutiAAhuma ilayya marjiAAukum faonabbiokum bima kuntum taAAmaloona
WE advised mankind to be nice to his/her parents.  But if they force you to associate any such (deity) with ME whom you do not know (as to be MY partner) then do not obey them.  You all have to return to ME and then I shall tell you what you have been doing.

9.               Waallatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati lanudkhilannahum fee alssaliheena
And those people who would have brought Faith and who would have done righteous deeds; WE would surely include them among the righteous ones.

10.            Wamina alnnasi man yaqoolu amanna biAllahi faitha oothiya fee Allahi jaAAala fitnata alnnasi kaAAathabi Allahi walain jaa nasrun min rabbika layaqoolunna inna kunna maAAakum awa laysa Allahu biaAAlama bima fee sudoori alAAalameena
There is such a person among the people who says, "I have brought Faith in Allâh".  But when he was made to suffer for the sake of Allâh then he considers the trial of mankind as the punishment of Allâh.  Now if a victory comes from your Râbb then the same person will say: "I was with you (helping you)."  Does Allâh not know the secrets of the hearts of these people of the world ('Alamîn)?

11.            WalayaAAlamanna Allahu allatheena amanoo walayaAAlamanna almunafiqeena
And Allâh must have to see this -- that who are the believers and who are the hypocrites.

12.            WWaqala allatheena kafaroo lillatheena amanoo ittabiAAoo sabeelana walnahmil khatayakum wama hum bihamileena min khatayahum min shayin innahum lakathiboona
These infidels (Kafir) say to those people who have brought Faith: "You follow our way and we will take your sins upon us”.  Whereas they are not going to take any of their
sins on themselves, they certainly tell lies.

13.            Walayahmilunna athqalahum waathqalan maAAa athqalihim walayusalunna yawma alqiyamati AAamma kanoo yaftaroona
Yes, they certainly will bear their burdens as well as many other burdens with their own burdens.  And of course, on the Day of Judgment they shall be questioned about the fabrications, which they have been inventing.  (R) 13

14.            Walaqad arsalna noohan ila qawmihi falabitha feehim alfa sanatin illa khamseena AAaman faakhathahumu alttoofanu wahum thalimoona
WE sent Nûh to his nation and he stayed fifty (50) less a thousand years among them.  Finally, flood overtook them -- while they were cruel (Zâlimûn).

15.            Faanjaynahu waashaba alssafeenati wajaAAalnaha ayatan lilAAalameena
Then WE saved Nûh and those in the boat (Ark) and made it a thing to learn lesson (Ayâh) for the people of the world ('Alamîn).

16.            Waibraheema ith qala liqawmihi oAAbudoo Allaha waittaqoohu thalikum khayrun lakum in kuntum taAAlamoona
And sent Ibrâhim -- when he said to his nation: "Serve Allâh and fear HIM.  This is best for you if you know.

17.            Innama taAAbudoona min dooni Allahi awthanan watakhluqoona ifkan inna allatheena taAAbudoona min dooni Allahi la yamlikoona lakum rizqan faibtaghoo AAinda Allahi alrrizqa waoAAbudoohu waoshkuroo lahu ilayhi turjaAAoona
Those whom you are worshiping except Allâh they are only idols and you are only inventing lies.  In fact, those whom you worship except Allâh they have no power to give you any provisions.  Seek your provisions from Allâh and only serve HIM and be grateful to HIM, you are going to be brought back to HIM.

18.            Wain tukaththiboo faqad kaththaba omamun min qablikum wama AAala alrrasooli illa albalaghu almubeenu
And if you deny -- then many nations before you also have denied, and there is no other responsibility on the Rasool but to convey the Message clearly and plainly."

19.            Awa lam yaraw kayfa yubdio Allahu alkhalqa thumma yuAAeeduhu inna thalika AAala Allahi yaseerun
Have these people never seen that how Allâh initiates the creation, then repeats it?  Certainly, this (repetition) is very easy for Allâh.

20.            Qul seeroo fee alardi faonthuroo kayfa badaa alkhalqa thumma Allahu yunshio alnnashata alakhirata inna Allaha AAala kulli shayin qadeerun
Ask them: "Travel through the land and see how Allâh has begun the creation, then afterwards Allâh will again give life.  Certainly Allâh has power over all things."

21.            YuAAaththibu man yashao wayarhamu man yashao wailayhi tuqlaboona
(HE) Punishes whom HE wills and shows mercy to whom HE pleases, you are going to be taken back to HIM.

22.            Wama antum bimuAAjizeena fee alardi wala fee alssamai wama lakum min dooni Allahi min waliyyin wala naseerin
You can neither frustrate (HIM) in the earth nor in the skies, and there is no patron and helper for you -- who could save you from Allâh.  (R) 14

23.            Waallatheena kafaroo biayati Allahi waliqaihi olaika yaisoo min rahmatee waolaika lahum AAathabun aleemun
Those people who have denied the Revelation (Ayât) and meeting with Allâh, they have become hopeless of MY Mercy and there is severe punishment for them.

24.            Fama kana jawaba qawmihi illa an qaloo oqtuloohu aw harriqoohu faanjahu Allahu mina alnnari inna fee thalika laayatin liqawmin yuminoona
Then Ibrahîm's nation had no answer except to say: "Kill him or burn him”.  Eventually, Allâh saved him from the fire -- surely there are signs in it for those people who are going to bring Faith.

25.            Waqala innama ittakhathtum min dooni Allahi awthanan mawaddata baynikum fee alhayati alddunya thumma yawma alqiyamati yakfuru baAAdukum bibaAAdin wayalAAanu baAAdukum baAAdan wamawakumu alnnaru wama lakum min nasireena
And he (Ibrâhim) said: "In this worldly life you have taken idols as means of love among yourselves except Allâh -- but on the Day of Judgment you will disown and curse each other and fire will be your destination and you will have no helper."

26.            Faamana lahu lootun waqala innee muhajirun ila rabbee innahu huwa alAAazeezu alhakeemu
At that time, Lout accepted him (Ibrâhim).  And Ibrâhim said: "I migrate toward my Râbb; HE is All Powerful and All-Wise."

27.            Wawahabna lahu ishaqa wayaAAqooba wajaAAalna fee thurriyyatihi alnnubuwwata waalkitaba waataynahu ajrahu fee alddunya wainnahu fee alakhirati lamina alssaliheena Walootan ith qala liqawmihi innakum latatoona alfahishata ma sabaqakum biha min ahadin mina alAAalameena
And WE gave him (children like) Ishâque, and Ya'qûb and ordained Prophethood and Book in his children, and (WE) granted him his reward in this world and in the Hereafter he will surely be among the pious people.

28.            Walootan ith qala liqawmihi innakum latatoona alfahishata ma sabaqakum biha min ahadin mina alAAalameena
And WE sent Lout when he said to his nation: "You commit that indecency (Al-Fâhisha) which none in the world ('Alamîn) has ever committed before you."

29.            Ainnakum latatoona alrrijala wataqtaAAoona alssabeela watatoona fee nadeekumu almunkara fama kana jawaba qawmihi illa an qaloo itina biAAathabi Allahi in kunta mina alssadiqeena
Are you such -- that you go to men, and rob the travelers and commit evil deeds (Al-Munkar) in your meetings”?  Then his people had no answer except to say: "Bring the torment of Allâh if you are truthful”.

30.            Qala rabbi onsurnee AAala alqawmi almufsideena
Lout said: "O my Râbb, help me against these mischief-makers (Mufsidûn).  (R) 15

31.            Walamma jaat rusuluna ibraheema bialbushra qaloo inna muhlikoo ahli hathihi alqaryati inna ahlaha kanoo thalimeena
And when OUR Messengers came to Ibrâhim with the good news they said: "We are going to destroy the people of this town, its people have become very cruel (Zâlimûn)”.

32.            Qala inna feeha lootan qaloo nahnu aAAlamu biman feeha lanunajjiyannahu waahlahu illa imraatahu kanat mina alghabireena
Ibrâhim said: "Lout is there."  They replied: "We know very well who else is there.  We will save him and rest of his family, except his wife.”  His wife was among those who remained behind.

33.            Walamma an jaat rusuluna lootan seea bihim wadaqa bihim tharAAan waqaloo la takhaf wala tahzan inna munajjooka waahlaka illa imraataka kanat mina alghabireena
Then when OUR Messengers came to Lout on their arrival he was very upset and grieved.  They said: "Do not fear nor grieve.  We shall save you and your household, except your wife, who is from among those who are going to remain behind.

34.            Inna munziloona AAala ahli hathihi alqaryati rijzan mina alssamai bima kanoo yafsuqoona
We are going to bring misery from the sky on the people of this town because of the mischief they have been doing."

35.            Walaqad tarakna minha ayatan bayyinatan liqawmin yaAAqiloona
And WE have left an open sign (Ayâh) of that town for those people who use commonsense.

36.            Waila madyana akhahum shuAAayban faqala ya qawmi oAAbudoo Allaha waorjoo alyawma alakhira wala taAAthaw fee alardi mufsideena
And towards the people of Madyan WE sent their brother Shu'aib.  He said: "O people of my nation, serve Allâh and be a candidate of the Day of Judgment and do not keep transgressing in the land as a mischief-maker (Mufsidûn).”

37.            Fakaththaboohu faakhathathumu alrrajfatu faasbahoo fee darihim jathimeena
But they rejected him.  Finally, a severe earthquake seized them and they remained laying (dead) in their homes.

38.            WaAAadan wathamooda waqad tabayyana lakum min masakinihim wazayyana lahumu alshshaytanu aAAmalahum fasaddahum AAani alssabeeli wakanoo mustabsireena
And WE destroyed 'Ad and Thamûd, you have seen those places where they used to live.  Shaitân made their deeds fascinating to them and turned them away from the Right Path though they were intellectuals.

39.            Waqaroona wafirAAawna wahamana walaqad jaahum moosa bialbayyinati faistakbaroo fee alardi wama kanoo sabiqeena
And WE destroyed Qâroon, Fir'aun, and Hâmân.  Mûsa came to them with clear Proofs (Ayât), but they were proud of their pride in the land, whereas they were not going to surpass (US).

40.            Fakullan akhathna bithanbihi faminhum man arsalna AAalayhi hasiban waminhum man akhathathu alssayhatu waminhum man khasafna bihi alarda waminhum man aghraqna wama kana Allahu liyathlimahum walakin kanoo anfusahum yathlimoona
Ultimately, WE seized each of them in his sin.  Then against some of them -- WE sent wind with stones (Hâsiban), and some were overtaken by terrible blast (AsSaihah), and WE sunk some of them under the earth, and some were drowned.  Allâh was not going to do unjust to them, but they themselves were doing unjust to their own souls.

41.            Mathalu allatheena ittakhathoo min dooni Allahi awliyaa kamathali alAAankabooti ittakhathat baytan wainna awhana albuyooti labaytu alAAankabooti law kanoo yaAAlamoona
Those people, who have taken other deities except Allâh their example is like a spider --who builds a house for itself and the weakest of all the houses is the house of spider.  Would that!  These people have the knowledge.

42.            Inna Allaha yaAAlamu ma yadAAoona min doonihi min shayin wahuwa alAAazeezu alhakeemu
Allâh knows very well -- what things (whomever) they call except HIM and HE is All Powerful and All Wise.

43.            Watilka alamthalu nadribuha lilnnasi wama yaAAqiluha illa alAAalimoona
WE quote these examples for the direction (instruction, warning) of the people, but only those people understand these who have the knowledge.

44.            Khalaqa Allahu alssamawati waalarda bialhaqqi inna fee thalika laayatan lilmumineena
Allâh has created the skies and the earth with truth, in fact there is a sign in it for those who have Faith.
