2.                Allatheena hum fee salatihim khashiAAoona

4.                Waallatheena hum lilzzakati faAAiloona
(Who) Are punctual in paying the poor-dues (Zakât),

5.                Waallatheena hum lifuroojihim hafithoona
(Who) Guard their private parts (chastity)

6.                Illa AAala azwajihim aw ma malakat aymanuhum fainnahum ghayru maloomeena
Except from their spouses and those women, who are in their possession, they are not blamed for not guarding from them,

7.                Famani ibtagha waraa thalika faolaika humu alAAadoona
However those who seek something besides this are the transgressors,

8.                Waallatheena hum liamanatihim waAAahdihim raAAoona
They are true in their trusts (Amânât) and keep their promises,

9.                Waallatheena hum AAala salawatihim yuhafithoona
And guard their prayers (Salât).

10.             Olaika humu alwarithoona
These people are the inheritors.

11.             Allatheena yarithoona alfirdawsa hum feeha khalidoona
They shall inherit the inheritance of Firdaus (
Paradise) and shall live therein forever.

12.             Walaqad khalaqna alinsana min sulalatin min teenin
WE have created man (Adam) from the essence of clay,

13.             Thumma jaAAalnahu nutfatan fee qararin makeenin
Then converted it into a drop (Nutfah) -- dripped in a safe place (womb of woman),

14.             Thumma khalaqna alnnutfata AAalaqatan fakhalaqna alAAalaqata mudghatan fakhalaqna almudghata AAithaman fakasawna alAAithama lahman thumma anshanahu khalqan akhara fatabaraka Allahu ahsanu alkhaliqeena
Then (WE) shaped this drop (Nutfah) into a mass of flesh (clot), then made the clot a small piece of meat, then (WE) made bones out of flesh, then covered the bones with flesh, then brought him/her as another creature.  So blessed is Allâh the Best of all the creators.

15.             Thumma innakum baAAda thalika lamayyitoona
Then after this, you must have to die.

16.             Thumma innakum yawma alqiyamati tubAAathoona
Then you will surely be raised on the Day of Resurrection.

17.             Walaqad khalaqna fawqakum sabAAa taraiqa wama kunna AAani alkhalqi ghafileena
And WE made seven paths (skies) above you; WE were not beginner in the art of creation.

18.             Waanzalna mina alssamai maan biqadarin faaskannahu fee alardi wainna AAala thahabin bihi laqadiroona
And WE sent down water from the sky according to the exact measure in a fixed amount, and made it to stay in the earth, WE can make it disappear, as WE want.

19.             Faanshana lakum bihi jannatin min nakheelin waaAAnabin lakum feeha fawakihu katheeratun waminha takuloona
Then with this water WE grew gardens of date-palm trees and grapes for you, there are many delicious fruits for you in these gardens and you get provisions from these.

20.             Washajaratan takhruju min toori saynaa tanbutu bialdduhni wasibghin lilakileena
And WE have also created that tree (olive) which springs out from the Mount Sinai, grows with oil and as well as with vegetable curry for the eaters.

21.             Wainna lakum fee alanAAami laAAibratan nusqeekum mimma fee butooniha walakum feeha manafiAAu katheeratun waminha takuloona
And the fact is that there is a lesson for you in the cattle as well.  Whatever is in their bellies from that WE give you a thing to drink (milk), and there are many other benefits for you in them.  You eat them

22.             WaAAalayha waAAala alfulki tuhmaloona
And (you) are made to ride them and as well as (sail) the ships.  (R) 1

23.             Walaqad arsalna noohan ila qawmihi faqala ya qawmi oAAbudoo Allaha ma lakum min ilahin ghayruhu afala tattaqoona
WE sent Nûh to his nation.  He said: "O people of my nation!  Serve Allâh there is no other deity (Ilâh) except HIM, are you not afraid (of HIM)?"

24.             Faqala almalao allatheena kafaroo min qawmihi ma hatha illa basharun mithlukum yureedu an yatafaddala AAalaykum walaw shaa Allahu laanzala malaikatan ma samiAAna bihatha fee abaina alawwaleena
The chiefs of his nation, who refused to accept, they said: "This person is no more than a human being like you.  His objective is to obtain superiority over you.  If Allâh had to send, HE should have sent down an angel.  We have never heard such thing (that a human being could come as a Rasool) even in the time of our forefathers.

25.             In huwa illa rajulun bihi jinnatun fatarabbasoo bihi hatta heenin
Nothing, but this person is lost for a while.  Just wait for a little while (perhaps he may be cured).

26.             Qala rabbi onsurnee bima kaththabooni
Nûh said: "O my Râbb, these people has rejected me so now YOU should help me out."

27.             Faawhayna ilayhi ani isnaAAi alfulka biaAAyunina wawahyina faitha jaa amruna wafara alttannooru faosluk feeha min kullin zawjayni ithnayni waahlaka illa man sabaqa AAalayhi alqawlu minhum wala tukhatibnee fee allatheena thalamoo innahum mughraqoona
WE revealed to him (saying): "Build a ship under OUR Supervision and according to OUR Revelation (guidance).  Then, when OUR Command comes and that oven overflows, embark the ship with pair of all kinds of animals, and also take your family with you except those against whom the Judgment has already been passed, and do not say anything to ME about the cruels, now they are going to be drowned.

28.             Faitha istawayta anta waman maAAaka AAala alfulki faquli alhamdu lillahi allathee najjana mina alqawmi alththalimeena
Then, when you embarked the ship with your companions, then say: "Thanks to Allâh WHO has saved us from the cruel people (Zâlimûn).

29.             Waqul rabbi anzilnee munzalan mubarakan waanta khayru almunzileena
And say: "My Râbb disembark me at the place of blessings and YOU are the One WHO gives the best place”.

30.             Inna fee thalika laayatin wain kunna lamubtaleena
There are many Signs (Ayât) in this story, and WE do put (the people) to the test.

31.             Thumma anshana min baAAdihim qarnan akhareena
After them, WE raised another generation.

32.             Faarsalna feehim rasoolan minhum ani oAAbudoo Allaha ma lakum min ilahin ghayruhu afala tattaqoona
Then WE sent a Rasool to them from among themselves (who gave them the message saying): "Serve Allâh there is no other deity (Ilâh) for you except HIM -- are you not afraid?"  (R) 2

33.             Waqala almalao min qawmihi allatheena kafaroo wakaththaboo biliqai alakhirati waatrafnahum fee alhayati alddunya ma hatha illa basharun mithlukum yakulu mimma takuloona minhu wayashrabu mimma tashraboona
The chiefs of his nation, who refused to accept (the message) and denied the meeting in the Hereafter, whom WE had given the comforts of the worldly life, they began to say: "This person is no more than a human like you.  Whatever you eat, he also eats the same and whatever you drink, he drinks the same.

34.             Walain ataAAtum basharan mithlakum innakum ithan lakhasiroona
Now if you obey a person like you then you are in total loss.

35.             AyaAAidukum annakum itha mittum wakuntum turaban waAAithaman annakum mukhrajoona
He informs you that when you will become dust after death and will turn into skeleton at that time you will be raised again (from graves).

36.             Hayhata hayhata lima tooAAadoona
Impossible -- it is quite impossible -- what is being promised to you.

37.             In hiya illa hayatuna alddunya namootu wanahya wama nahnu bimabAAootheena
"There is no other life but the life of this world.  We have to die and live here and we are never going to be raised again (resurrected).

38.             In huwa illa rajulun iftara AAala Allahi kathiban wama nahnu lahu bimumineena
This person is only fabricating lie at the Name of Allâh and we are not going to believe him."

39.             Qala rabbi onsurnee bima kaththabooni
Rasool said: "O my Râbb, these people have rejected me -- now YOU should help me in it.

40.             Qala AAamma qaleelin layusbihunna nadimeena
(Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala) Responded: "That time is near when they will regret on it what they have done.”

41.             Faakhathathumu alssayhatu bialhaqqi fajaAAalnahum ghuthaan fabuAAdan lilqawmi alththalimeena
Eventually, a huge torment (As-Saîhah) overtook them in all justice and WE trashed them away
--go away a cruel nation (Zâlimûn)!

42.             Thumma anshana min baAAdihim quroonan akhareena
Then after them, WE raised other nations.

43.            Ma tasbiqu min ommatin ajalaha wama yastakhiroona
Neither any nation has been destroyed before its appointed term nor it could stay (any longer) after that (appointed term).

44.             Thumma arsalna rusulana tatra kulla ma jaa ommatan rasooluha kaththaboohu faatbaAAna baAAdahum baAAdan wajaAAalnahum ahadeetha fabuAAdan liqawmin la yuminoona
Then WE sent OUR Rasools one after another (in succession).  To whatever nation his Rasool came, they denied him, and WE kept destroying one after other nations, eventually WE made them history (Ahadîth)
--Curse is on those people who do not bring Faith!

45.            Thumma arsalna moosa waakhahu haroona biayatina wasultanin mubeenin
Then WE sent Mûsa and his brother Hârûn with OUR Signs (Ayât) and upright authority,

46.            Ila firAAawna wamalaihi faistakbaroo wakanoo qawman AAaleena
To Fir'aun and his chiefs.  But they behaved arrogantly and they were proud people (self-exalting).

47.             Faqaloo anuminu libasharayni mithlina waqawmuhuma lana AAabidoona
They said: "Should we bring Faith in two men like us?  And such person; whose nation is our salve.”

48.             Fakaththaboohuma fakanoo mina almuhlakeena
So, they denied both of them (Mûsa and Hârûn) and joined those who were going to be destroyed.

49.             Walaqad atayna moosa alkitaba laAAallahum yahtadoona
And WE gave Mûsa the Book so that people should get guidance from it.

50.             WajaAAalna ibna maryama waommahu ayatan waawaynahuma ila rabwatin thati qararin wamaAAeenin
And WE made the son of Maryam and his mother as a sign and kept them on high ground that was a peaceful place and fountains were flowing in it.  (R) 3

51.             Ya ayyuha alrrusulu kuloo mina alttayyibati waiAAmaloo salihan innee bima taAAmaloona AAaleemun
O Messengers eat the Halâl food (Taiyibât) and do the righteous deeds, whatever you do; I Know it very well.

52.             Wainna hathihi ommatukum ommatan wahidatan waana rabbukum faittaqooni
And your nation (religious sect) is one (same) nation and I AM your Râbb, so fear ME.

53.             FataqattaAAoo amrahum baynahum zuburan kullu hizbin bima ladayhim farihoona
But later people divided their Deen (the way of life) into sects among themselves.  Whatever each sect has -- is rejoicing it (its own belief)
--

54.             Fatharhum fee ghamratihim hatta heenin
Well, then leave them drowned in their negligence for an appointed term.

55.             Ayahsaboona annama numidduhum bihi min malin wabaneena
Do they think that WE are helping them with wealth and offspring means that

56.             NusariAAu lahum fee alkhayrati bal la yashAAuroona
(WE) Are eagerly doing for their welfare?  Absolutely not; they do not understand the reality of the matter.

57.             Inna allatheena hum min khashyati rabbihim mushfiqoona
In fact those people who are fearful from their Râbb,

58.             Waallatheena hum biayati rabbihim yuminoona
Who bring Faith in the Signs (Ayât) of their Râbb,

59.             Waallatheena hum birabbihim la yushrikoona
Who do not associate anyone with their Râbb,

60.             Waallatheena yutoona ma ataw waquloobuhum wajilatun annahum ila rabbihim rajiAAoona
And their condition is such that they give whatever they (can) give and their hearts keep trembling with fear of the thought that we have to return to our Râbb,

61.             Olaika yusariAAoona fee alkhayrati wahum laha sabiqoona
They are the ones who rush towards the good deeds and earn it by surpassing.

62.             Wala nukallifu nafsan illa wusAAaha waladayna kitabun yantiqu bialhaqqi wahum la yuthlamoona
WE do not put anyone in trial more than his/her capacity, and WE have a Book, which tells accurately (about each person), and however no unjust will be done to the people.

63.             AAamiloona laha hum thalika dooni min aAAmalun walahum hatha ghamratin fee quloobuhum
But these people are unaware of this fact.  And their deeds differ than the way (which has been described above).

64.             Hatta itha akhathna mutrafeehim bialAAathabi itha hum yajaroona
(They will keep doing their evil things) Until when WE will seize their lavishness with punishment then they will start to make humble request with a loud voice
--

65.             La tajaroo alyawma innakum minna la tunsaroona
Now stop your outcry for help, now you will not get any help from US.

66.             Qad kanat ayatee tutla AAalaykum fakuntum AAala aAAqabikum tankisoona
MY Revelations (Ayâts) were recited to you, but (hearing the voice of the Rasool) you used to turn back on your heels

67.             Mustakbireena bihi samiran tahjuroona
In your arrogance you used to pay no respect to him, (you) used to ridicule him in your meeting places and used to talk rubbish.

68.             Afalam yaddabbaroo alqawla am jaahum ma lam yati abaahumu alawwaleena
Then have these people never pondered over this Word (of Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala)?  Or has he brought such a thing that had never come to their forefathers?

69.             Am lam yaAArifoo rasoolahum fahum lahu munkiroona
Or did they never know about their Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) that (they) skip away (because of being stranger) from him?

70.             Am yaqooloona bihi jinnatun bal jaahum bialhaqqi waaktharuhum lilhaqqi karihoona
Or are they believers of this thing that he has no sense?  Absolutely not, in fact he has brought Truth and most of them do not like the Truth
--

71.             Walawi ittabaAAa alhaqqu ahwaahum lafasadati alssamawatu waalardu waman feehinna bal ataynahum bithikrihim fahum AAan thikrihim muAAridoona
And if ever the truth had followed their desires then the system of the skies and the earth and all that is in it would have been overturned (contaminated)
--Absolutely not, but WE have brought their own testimonial to them and they are turning their faces away from their declaration.

72.             Am tasaluhum kharjan fakharaju rabbika khayrun wahuwa khayru alrraziqeena
Are you asking anything from them?  The reward of your Râbb is better for you and HE is the Best Provider.

73.             Wainnaka latadAAoohum ila siratin mustaqeemin
You are inviting them to the Straight Path.

74.             Wainna allatheena la yuminoona bialakhirati AAani alssirati lanakiboona
But those people who do not believe in the Hereafter want to deviate from the Straight Path.

75.             Walaw rahimnahum wakashafna ma bihim min durrin lalajjoo fee tughyanihim yaAAmahoona
If WE show them OUR Mercy and relieve the suffering of their misery in which they are nowadays, then they will firmly persist in their rebellion.

76.             Walaqad akhathnahum bialAAathabi fama istakanoo lirabbihim wama yatadarraAAoona
Their behavior is such that WE inflicted them with misery; even then, they neither bowed down before their Râbb nor (they) adopted submissiveness.

77.             Hatta itha fatahna AAalayhim baban tha AAathabin shadeedin itha hum feehi mublisoona
Although when a situation will come to the point that WE open a gate of severe punishment on them then all of sudden you will see that in that situation they are hopeless of all good.  (R) 4

78.             Wahuwa allathee anshaa lakumu alssamAAa waalabsara waalafidata qaleelan ma tashkuroona
HE is Allâh WHO has given you the abilities to hear and see and heart to think.
But you people seldom become thankful.

79.             Wahuwa allathee tharaakum fee alardi wailayhi tuhsharoona
HE is the One WHO spreads you on the earth, and to HIM you shall be gathered.

80.             Wahuwa allathee yuhyee wayumeetu walahu ikhtilafu allayli waalnnahari afala taAAqiloona
HE is the One WHO gives life and causes death.  The rotation of the day and the night is in HIS Power.  Do you not understand this thing?

81.             Bal qaloo mithla ma qala alawwaloona
But these people say the same thing what their predecessors have said (before).

82.             Qaloo aitha mitna wakunna turaban waAAithaman ainna lamabAAoothoona
They say: "What, when we shall become dust after death and will turn into (remain as) skeleton then shall we be raised again to life?

83.             Laqad wuAAidna nahnu waabaona hatha min qablu in hatha illa asateeru alawwaleena
We have heard many such promises and before us, our forefathers have also been hearing it.  These are merely old stories.”

84.             Qul limani alardu waman feeha in kuntum taAAlamoona
Ask them, tell me if you know -- whose is the earth and its all population?

85.             Sayaqooloona lillahi qul afala tathakkaroona
They will certainly say; it belongs to Allâh.  Say, then why don’t you come into sense?

86.             Qul man rabbu alssamawati alssabAAi warabbu alAAarshi alAAatheemi
Ask them, "Who is the Owner (Râbb) of the Seven Skies and the Great Throne?

87.             Sayaqooloona lillahi qul afala tattaqoona
They will surely say “Allâh”.  Ask, then why don’t you fear (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala)?

88.             Qul man biyadihi malakootu kulli shayin wahuwa yujeeru wala yujaru AAalayhi in kuntum taAAlamoona
Ask them tell if you know -- whose authority (control) is over everything?  And who is HE, WHO gives protection and no one can give protection against HIM?

89.             Sayaqooloona lillahi qul faanna tusharoona
They will certainly say that this thing is only for Allâh Alone.  Ask, then why are you having illusion (deception)?

90.             Bal ataynahum bialhaqqi wainnahum lakathiboona
WE have brought the Truth before them, and there is no doubt that these people are liars.

91.             Ma ittakhatha Allahu min waladin wama kana maAAahu min ilahin ithan lathahaba kullu ilahin bima khalaqa walaAAala baAAduhum AAala baAAdin subhana Allahi AAamma yasifoona
Allâh has not taken anyone as HIS offspring, and there is no other deity (ilâh) with (except) HIM.  If it would be so, then each deity would have taken away HIS creature and then they would have attacked each other (to overpower).  Allâh is Pure from all those things, which these people attribute to HIM.

92.             AAalimi alghaybi waalshshahadati fataAAala AAamma yushrikoona
HE Knows all the seen and unseen, HE is Exalted above that idolatry (shirk) which these people are inventing.  (R) 5

93.             Qul rabbi imma turiyannee ma yooAAadoona
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), pray: "My Râbb! If YOU inflict them, in my presence, with the punishment by which they are being threatened,

94.             Rabbi fala tajAAalnee fee alqawmi alththalimeena
Then my Râbb, do not include me among these cruel people (Zâlimûn).”

95.             Wainna AAala an nuriyaka ma naAAiduhum laqadiroona
And the fact is, that “WE have the power to bring that thing in front of your own eyes with which WE are threatening them”.

96.             IdfaAA biallatee hiya ahsanu alssayyiata nahnu aAAlamu bima yasifoona
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), repel evil with that which is best.  WE are well aware of those things that they utter against you.

97.             Waqul rabbi aAAoothu bika min hamazati alshshayateeni
And pray: "My Râbb! I seek YOUR Protection from the temptation of the Shayâtin (devils),

98.             WaaAAoothu bika rabbi an yahdurooni
And, my Râbb, I also seek YOUR Protection from it that they even come near me."

99.             Hatta itha jaa ahadahumu almawtu qala rabbi irjiAAooni
(These people will not stop what they are doing) Until, when death will come to anyone of them then he/she will start saying, "O my Râbb, send me back to the world which I have left behind,

100.          LaAAallee aAAmalu salihan feema taraktu kalla innaha kalimatun huwa qailuha wamin waraihim barzakhun ila yawmi yubAAathoona
It is hoped that now I will do good deeds"
-- Absolutely not, it is just a word which he/she is uttering.  Now behind all of these (who have died) there is a barrier (Barzakh) until the Day of another life (Day of Judgment).

101.          Faitha nufikha fee alssoori fala ansaba baynahum yawmaithin wala yatasaaloona
Then as soon as the Trumpet will be blown, there will be no kinship among them and nor they will care about each other.

102.          Faman thaqulat mawazeenuhu faolaika humu almuflihoona
At that time, whose scales (weight of good deeds) will be heavy they will be successful.

103.          Waman khaffat mawazeenuhu faolaika allatheena khasiroo anfusahum fee jahannama khalidoona
And whose scales (weight of good deeds) will be light, those will be the people who have put themselves in loss; they will abide in Hell forever.

104.          Talfahu wujoohahumu alnnaru wahum feeha kalihoona
The Fire will eat-up (burn) the skin of their faces and their jaws will become visible
--

105.          Alam takun ayatee tutla AAalaykum fakuntum biha tukaththiboona
“Are you not the same persons to whom MY Revelation (Al-Qur'ân) was recited and you used to deny it?"

106.          Qaloo rabbana ghalabat AAalayna shiqwatuna wakunna qawman dalleena
They will say: "O our Râbb, our misfortune had prevailed over us.  We in fact were gone astray.

107.          Rabbana akhrijna minha fain AAudna fainna thalimoona
"O Râbb, now get us out of here.  If we do such mistake again then (we) shall be cruel (Zâlimûn).”

108.          Qala ikhsaoo feeha wala tukallimooni
Allâh will reply: "Get lost from here, remain in it and do not talk to ME.

109.          Innahu kana fareequn min AAibadee yaqooloona rabbana amanna faighfir lana wairhamna waanta khayru alrrahimeena
You are the same people who made fun of some of MY servants when they used to pray: "O our Râbb, we brought Faith, forgive us, have mercy on us, YOU are the Best of all those who show mercy"

110.          Faittakhathtumoohum sikhriyyan hatta ansawkum thikree wakuntum minhum tadhakoona
So much so that their persistence made you to forget even MY very Existence, and you kept laughing on them.

111.          Innee jazaytuhumu alyawma bima sabaroo annahum humu alfaizoona
Today, I have rewarded them for their patience that they are successful.”

112.          Qala kam labithtum fee alardi AAadada sineena
Then Allâh will ask from them: tell, "How many years have you stayed on earth”?

113.          Qaloo labithna yawman aw baAAda yawmin faisali alAAaddeena
They will reply: "We have stayed there a day or a part of it, ask from those who keep the accounts”.

114.          Qala in labithtum illa qaleelan law annakum kuntum taAAlamoona
Allâh will say: "You have stayed for a while -- Would that!  You have known this at that time.

115.          Afahasibtum annama khalaqnakum AAabathan waannakum ilayna la turjaAAoona
Did you think that WE had created you without any purpose and you never have to return to US”?

116.          FataAAala Allahu almaliku alhaqqu la ilaha illa huwa rabbu alAAarshi alkareemi
Therefore, exalted and above all is Allâh the True King, there is no Allâh except HIM (Lâ ilâha illa Huwa), the Owner of the Highest Heaven (Honorable Throne).

117.          Waman yadAAu maAAa Allahi ilahan akhara la burhana lahu bihi fainnama hisabuhu AAinda rabbihi innahu la yuflihu alkafiroona
And whoever calls up any other deity (ilâh) along with Allâh for which he/she has no proof, then his/her reckoning is with his/her Râbb.  Such infidels (Al-Kâfirûn) can never attain success.

118.          Waqul rabbi ighfir wairham waanta khayru alrrahimeena
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) say: "My Râbb forgive and have mercy, YOU are the Best of all those who show mercy."

“An-Nûr – The Light”  (Madanni - 24th Surah)

Total Verses: 64

Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi
(I) Begin with the Name of Allâh WHO is Most Loving and Most Merciful

The adulteress (woman who commits adultery) and the adulterer (man who commits adultery), strike each of them a hundred lashes.  And the emotion of having pity on them should not withhold you in the matter of Deen of Allâh (Islamic way of life) if you have Faith in Allâh and the Last Day.  And a group of believers should be present at the time of their punishment.  (This punishment is for unmarried people, but if married people are guilty of such crime-- their punishment is to stone them to death).

4.               Waallatheena yarmoona almuhsanati thumma lam yatoo biarbaAAati shuhadaa faijlidoohum thamaneena jaldatan wala taqbaloo lahum shahadatan abadan waolaika humu alfasiqoona
And those people who accuse chaste woman, then do not bring four witnesses, strike them eighty (80) lashes and never accept their testimony, and they themselves are the liars (Fâsiqûn),

5.               Illa allatheena taboo min baAAdi thalika waaslahoo fainna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun
Except those people who repent after this sin and adopt the righteous path, that Allâh is certainly Oft Forgiving and Most Merciful (for them).

10.            Walawla fadlu Allahi AAalaykum warahmatuhu waanna Allaha tawwabun hakeemun
If the Mercy and the Blessing of Allâh would not be on you people and it would not be that Allâh is Most Merciful and All-Wise then (the matter of accusing of wives would have put you in great complication) (R) 7

Those people who have fabricated this scandal (against 'Aishah, may Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala; be pleased with her, the wife of the Prophet Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) they are a group from among you.  Do not consider this incident, as an evil thing for you but this is also good for you.  Whoever participated in it has earned sin according to his/her participation, and the one who has played major role in it; there is a severe punishment for him.

12.            Lawla ith samiAAtumoohu thanna almuminoona waalmuminatu bianfusihim khayran waqaloo hatha ifkun mubeenun
The time when you people had heard about it the same moment why did not the believers men and women have good thought for themselves and why did not say: "This is an obvious allegation?"

13.            Lawla jaoo AAalayhi biarbaAAati shuhadaa faith lam yatoo bialshshuhadai faolaika AAinda Allahi humu alkathiboona
Why did those people not bring four witnesses (to prove their allegation)?  Since they have not brought the witnesses, then they are the liars in the Sight of Allâh.

14.            Walawla fadlu Allahi AAalaykum warahmatuhu fee alddunya waalakhirati lamassakum fee ma afadtum feehi AAathabun AAatheemun
If the Grace and Mercy of Allâh would not be on you people in this world and in the Hereafter then a great torment would have seized you for that in which you people had involved yourselves.

15.            Ith talaqqawnahu bialsinatikum wataqooloona biafwahikum ma laysa lakum bihi AAilmun watahsaboonahu hayyinan wahuwa AAinda Allahi AAatheemun
(Just think, what a severe mistake you were committing at that time) When you were propagating this lie from person to person, and you were saying those things from your mouth about which you did not have any knowledge.  You were considering it a minor thing, but it was a big thing in the Sight of Allâh.

16.            Walawla ith samiAAtumoohu qultum ma yakoonu lana an natakallama bihatha subhanaka hatha buhtanun AAatheemun
When you heard about it at the same moment why did you not say?  "It is not right for us to utter such thing, Praise to Allâh this is a hateful blame."

17.            YaAAithukumu Allahu an taAAoodoo limithlihi abadan in kuntum mumineena
Allâh advises you that in future never commit such mistake, if you are true believers.

18.            Wayubayyinu Allahu lakumu alayati waAllahu AAaleemun hakeemun
Allâh gives you clear guidance and HE is All Knowing and All Wise.

19.            Inna allatheena yuhibboona an tasheeAAa alfahishatu fee allatheena amanoo lahum AAathabun aleemun fee alddunya waalakhirati waAllahu yaAAlamu waantum la taAAlamoona
Those people, who want that indecency should spread among the group of those who brought Faith, they deserve severe punishment in this world and in the Hereafter, Allâh Knows and you do not know.

20.            Walawla fadlu Allahi AAalaykum warahmatuhu waanna Allaha raoofun raheemun
If the Grace of Allâh and HIS Mercy would not be on you and it would not be, that Allâh is all Loving and Most Merciful (then this scandal would have produced severe results)
.  (R) 8

O people, who have brought Faith, do not follow the footsteps of Shaitân (Satan).  Whosoever will follow him (Satan) then he (Satan) will command him/her for indecency and wickedness (Al-Fahshâ' and Al-Munkar).  If the Mercy and the Grace of Allâh would not be on you then no one among you could have ever been purified (from sins).  But Allâh purifies whom HE wills, and Allâh is All-Hearer and All-Knower.

Those people among you who are blessed with grace and wealth should not swear that they would not help their relatives -- the poor (Al-Masâkîn) and those who left their homes for the Cause of Allâh.  They should forgive and overlook.  Do you not want that Allâh should forgive you?  And this is the attribute of Allâh that HE is Oft-Forgiving and Most Loving.

Those people who accuse chaste, ignorant, and believing woman; a cursed has been laid on them in this life as well as in the Hereafter and there is a severe punishment for them.

24.            Yawma tashhadu AAalayhim alsinatuhum waaydeehim waarjuluhum bima kanoo yaAAmaloona
They should not forget that Day when their own tongues, hands and feet will testify against their deeds.

25.            Yawmaithin yuwaffeehimu Allahu deenahumu alhaqqa wayaAAlamoona anna Allaha huwa alhaqqu almubeenu
On that day, Allâh will fully recompense them for that which they deserve and they will come to know that Allâh is the Truth, WHO does the manifestation of the truth.

The malignant (corrupt) women are for malignant (corrupt) men and malignant men are for the malignant women.  Pure (chaste) women are for pure (chaste) men and pure men are for the pure women.  They are pure (innocent) from those scandals, which the slanderers utter; there is Forgiveness for them and the blessed provisions (Rizqun Karîm).  (R) 9

27.            Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la tadkhuloo buyootan ghayra buyootikum hatta tastanisoo watusallimoo AAala ahliha thalikum khayrun lakum laAAallakum tathakkaroona
O people who have brought Faith, do not enter in others (people’s) houses except yours -- until you get the household’s permission and send greetings of peace to the household, this is the best way for you.  It is hoped that you will care for it.

And if you do not find anyone there then do not enter until permission is granted to you, and if you are asked to go back then go back, this is a purer way for you, and whatever you do Allâh is Well Aware of it.

29.            Laysa AAalaykum junahun an tadkhuloo buyootan ghayra maskoonatin feeha mataAAun lakum waAllahu yaAAlamu ma tubdoona wama taktumoona
However, there is no sin in it for you that you enter in such houses where no one lives and in which there is something for your benefit.  Whatever you hide and whatever you disclose, Allâh knows all that very well.

O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) tell the believing men to restrain their gaze, and guard their private parts, this is a purer way for them, whatever they do Allâh is All-Aware of it.

And O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) tell the believing women to restrain their gaze, and guard their private parts, and do not show their beautification except that which is displayed-off itself, and keep their veils over their chests (Juyubihinna).  They should not show their beautification except to their husbands, fathers, husband's fathers, sons, husband's sons, brothers, brother's sons, sister's sons, female associates, their female slaves, those male attendants who do not have any other desire (who lack sexual desire), and those children who still do not have the (carnal) knowledge of women’s hidden things.  They should not walk striking their feet on the ground that the beautification, which they have hidden, should not be revealed to the people.  O believers, you collectively ask for the Forgiveness of Allâh it is hoped that you will attain success.

32.            Waankihoo alayama minkum waalssaliheena min AAibadikum waimaikum in yakoonoo fuqaraa yughnihimu Allahu min fadlihi waAllahu wasiAAun AAaleemun
Those people who are single among you, and those who are pious (Sâlihûn) among your female slaves arrange their marriages.  If they are poor then Allâh will enrich them with HIS Bounty; Allâh is All Sufficient and All-Knowing.

And those who do not find the opportunity to get marry they shall adopt the chastity, until Allâh enriches them with HIS Bounty.  And among your slaves those who request for writing (to buy their liberty) give them such writing -- if you know that there is any good in them, and give them from that wealth which Allâh has given you.  And do not force your female slaves into prostitution to gain your worldly benefits whereas they desire to remain chaste, and whoever compels them then after this compulsion (oppression) Allâh is Most Forgiving for them (salves females).

Allâh is the Glory (Nûr) of the skies and the earth.  (In universe)  The example of HIS Glory is as if there would be a lamp in a window, the lamp should be in a chandelier, the chandelier should be a shiny star like a diamond, and that lamp should be lighted with the oil of such blessed tree of olive that would be neither eastern nor western, its oil would inflame itself – though, even if no fire touched it, (in this way, as all the means would have been combined to increase) light upon light.  Allâh guides to HIS Light whom HE wills, HE makes the people to understand with (by citing) examples, Allâh Knows everything very well.

(Those who get the guidance from HIS Light) Are found in those houses (Masjids), which Allâh has ordered to raise up, and to glorify HIS Name, in these places such people glorify HIM in the mornings and in the evenings,

Whom, trade, and sale do not make negligent from the remembrance of Allâh and from establishing prayers (AsSalât), and paying the poor-dues (Zakât).  They keep fearing (fear) that Day when hearts will be overturned and eyes will be petrified,

(And they do all this) So that Allâh should reward them for their excellent deeds and in addition, bless them more with HIS Blessings, Allâh gives without measure to whom HE pleases.

(In contrary to this) Those who committed infidelity (Kufr), the example of their deeds is like a deception in a desert -- that a thirsty person had thought it to be water, but when he/she gets there then did not find anything, but there he/she found Allâh WHO settled his/her account in full, and it do not take long for Allâh to settle the accounts.

Or then its example is like as there is darkness in a vast deep sea, there is a wave over it, there is another wave over it and there is a cloud over it, thick darkness is prevailing all over, a person brings out his/her hand and cannot see it.  Whom Allâh does not give the light then there is no light for him/her.  (R) 11

Don’t you see that all those who are in the skies and in the earth, and those birds, who are flying around spreading their wings, are glorifying Allâh?  Each one knows the manner of its prayer (Salât) and the glorification, and whatever they all do, Allâh is well aware of it.

42.            Walillahi mulku alssamawati waalardi waila Allahi almaseeru
The Sovereignty of the skies and the earth is for Allâh Alone and all have to return to HIM.

43.            Alam tara anna Allaha yuzjee sahaban thumma yuallifu baynahu thumma yajAAaluhu rukaman fatara alwadqa yakhruju min khilalihi wayunazzilu mina alssamai min jibalin feeha min baradin fayuseebu bihi man yashao wayasrifuhu AAan man yashao yakadu sana barqihi yathhabu bialabsari
Don’t you see that Allâh drives the clouds gently, then joins its pieces together, then gathers it into a thick cloud, then you see that the raindrops keep coming from its covering?  And HE sends down hails from the sky, because of the mountains that are elevated in it, then HE afflicts with them whom HE wills and saves from it -- whom HE wills.  The brightness of its lighting dazzles the sight.

44.            Yuqallibu Allahu allayla waalnnahara inna fee thalika laAAibratan liolee alabsari
Allâh is changing the night and the day.  There is a lesson in it for those who have insight.

And Allâh has created every living being from the same kind of water.  Some is crawling on the belly, a few is walking on two legs, and some is walking on four legs.  (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala)  Creates whatever HE wills HE has the ability to do everything.

46.            Laqad anzalna ayatin mubayyinatin waAllahu yahdee man yashao ila siratin mustaqeemin
WE have sent down the Revelation that tells the clear and plain Truth, however Allâh guides to the Straight Path whom HE wills.

47.            Wayaqooloona amanna biAllahi wabialrrasooli waataAAna thumma yatawalla fareequn minhum min baAAdi thalika wama olaika bialmumineena
These people say: "We have brought Faith in Allâh and in the Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and we have submitted, but after that one group among them turns away (from obedience).  Such people are not believers at all.

48.            Waitha duAAoo ila Allahi warasoolihi liyahkuma baynahum itha fareequn minhum muAAridoona
When they are called toward Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) so that Rasool should decide their mutual affairs then a group among them turns away.

49.            Wain yakun lahumu alhaqqu yatoo ilayhi muthAAineena
Whereas if the truth is in their favor then they come to Rasool in all obedience.

50.            Afee quloobihim maradun ami irtaboo am yakhafoona an yaheefa Allahu AAalayhim warasooluhu bal olaika humu alththalimoona
Are their hearts infected with a disease (of hypocrisy)?  Or are they in doubt?  Or do they fear that Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) will be unjust to them?  The fact is that these people themselves are cruel (Zâlimûn).  (R) 12

51.            Innama kana qawla almumineena itha duAAoo ila Allahi warasoolihi liyahkuma baynahum an yaqooloo samiAAna waataAAna waolaika humu almuflihoona
It is for those who brought Faith that when they are called toward Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) so that Rasool should be the judge for their matters, they should say we have heard and we obeyed.  Such people are going to attain the prosperity,

52.            Waman yutiAAi Allaha warasoolahu wayakhsha Allaha wayattaqhi faolaika humu alfaizoona
And only those are successful who obey Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and fear Allâh and abstain from HIS disobedience.

53.            Waaqsamoo biAllahi jahda aymanihim lain amartahum layakhrujunna qul la tuqsimoo taAAatun maAAroofatun inna Allaha khabeerun bima taAAmaloona
These (hypocrites) solemnly swear by Allâh and say, “If you command us then we will come out from our homes”.  Tell them: "Do not swear, your obedience is well known, Allâh is not unaware of your misdeeds”.

54.            Qul ateeAAoo Allaha waateeAAoo alrrasoola fain tawallaw fainnama AAalayhi ma hummila waAAalaykum ma hummiltum wain tuteeAAoohu tahtadoo wama AAala alrrasooli illa albalaghu almubeena
Say: "Be obedient to Allâh and obey the Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).  But if you turn away then you should know it very well that the Rasool is only responsible for the duty entrusted to him and you are responsible for the duty entrusted to you.  If you will obey him then you will get the right guidance -- otherwise the only responsibility of Rasool is to convey the message clearly."

55.            WaAAada Allahu allatheena amanoo minkum waAAamiloo alssalihati layastakhlifannahum fee alardi kama istakhlafa allatheena min qablihim walayumakkinanna lahum deenahumu allathee irtada lahum walayubaddilannahum min baAAdi khawfihim amnan yaAAbudoonanee la yushrikoona bee shayan waman kafara baAAda thalika faolaika humu alfasiqoona
Allâh has promised to those people among you who bring Faith and do righteous deeds, that HE will make them caliph (successor) in the earth the same way as HE made those people who have passed before them, HE will establish their Deen (Islam -- the way of life) for them on firm basis, which Allâh has chosen for them, and will change their (current) condition of fear with peace, therefore they shall serve ME and should not associate anyone with ME.  And whoever commits infidelity (Kufr) after this then such people are the disobedient (Fâsiqûn).

56.            Waaqeemoo alssalata waatoo alzzakata waateeAAoo alrrasoola laAAallakum turhamoona
Establish prayer (AsSalât), pay the poor-dues (Zakât), and obey the Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), it is hoped that mercy will be done to you.

57.            La tahsabanna allatheena kafaroo muAAjizeena fee alardi wamawahumu alnnaru walabisa almaseeru
Those people who are committing infidelity -- (you) should not be in misconception about them that they would frustrate Allâh in the land.  Their abode is Hell and it is the worst destination.  (R) 13

O people who have brought Faith, it is compulsory that your slaves-girls, slaves and your those children who have not reach the age of puberty, should seek your permission on three occasions when they come to meet you -- before the dawn prayer (Fajr prayer), and at noon when you put off your clothes, and after the late-night ('Ishâ') prayer.  These three times are of your privacy.  Except these (times) if they come without seeking permission then there is no sin on you or on them, you have to come to each other over and again.  This way Allâh makes HIS Command (Ayât) clear for you, and HE is All Knowing All Wise.

59.            Waitha balagha alatfalu minkumu alhuluma falyastathinoo kama istathana allatheena min qablihim kathalika yubayyinu Allahu lakum ayatihi waAllahu AAaleemun hakeemun
And when your children reach the age of puberty (teenage years) then they should come after seeking the permission as their elders have been seeking permission, in this way Allâh makes HIS Revelation (Ayât) clear to you and HE is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

And those women who have passed their young (child-bearing) age, have no interest in getting married, if they take away their shawls then there is no sin on them, provided they are not to show their adornment.  However, they should also adopt modesty it is better for them, and Allâh is All-Hearer and All-Knower.

There is no harm if any blind, or lame, or any sick (eats from any ones home) and there is no harm for you if you eat from your homes, or from the homes of your fathers, grand fathers, or from the houses of your mothers, grand mothers, or from the houses of your brothers, or from the houses of your sisters, or from the houses of your father's brothers, or from the houses of your father's sisters, or from the houses of your mother's brothers, or from the houses of your mother's sisters, or from those houses whose keys are given to you, or from the houses of your friends.  There is no harm in it if you eat together or separately -- however when you enter the house you should greet your people, the greeting of peace, assigned from Allâh a blessed and pure.  This way Allâh makes Revelation (Ayât) clear to you, it is hoped that you use your commonsense.  (R) 14

In fact, the believers are those who embrace Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) from their hearts and when they are with Rasool for some common cause, they should not leave without seeking his permission.  O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), those people who seek your permission they are the one who believe in Allâh and HIS Rasool, so when they ask your permission for their own affairs then you may give permission to whomever you like and pray to Allâh for their forgiveness, truly, Allâh is Forgiving and Most Loving.

O Muslims do not consider among you the calling of the Rasool as the calling of one another among you.  Allâh knows those people among you very well who slip away quietly under the shelter of others.  Those who disobey the command of Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) should be afraid that they should not be seized by any mischief (Fitnah) or a painful torment should not come upon them.

Be aware!  Whatever is in the skies and in the earth belongs to Allâh.  Allâh knows what you are up to.  The Day when the people will be brought back to HIM then HE will tell them what they have done.  HE has the knowledge of everything.  (R) 15

--

2.               Allathee lahu mulku alssamawati waalardi walam yattakhith waladan walam yakun lahu shareekun fee almulki wakhalaqa kulla shayin faqaddarahu taqdeeran
HE, WHO is the owner of the Kingdom of the skies and the earth, WHO has not taken anyone as HIS son, WHO has no partner in the Kingdom, WHO has created all things then ordained their destiny.

Yet the people have taken such deities (Ilâhan) who do not create anything but are themselves created, who do not have the power to benefit or harm even themselves, who do not have any power of causing death or giving life, nor can raise the dead again.

4.               Waqala allatheena kafaroo in hatha illa ifkun iftarahu waaAAanahu AAalayhi qawmun akharoona faqad jaoo thulman wazooran
Those people who have refused to accept the word of Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) they say: "This criterion (Al-Furqân) is self-created thing which this person has fabricated himself and some other people have helped him in this task”.  It is a hateful unjust and bold lie what these people are uttering.”

5.               Waqaloo asateeru alawwaleena iktatabaha fahiya tumla AAalayhi bukratan waaseelan
They say: "These things are written by ancients, which this person (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) make to copy and these are recited to him morning and evening”.

6.               Qul anzalahu allathee yaAAlamu alssirra fee alssamawati waalardi innahu kana ghafooran raheeman
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) tell them: "It has been revealed by HIM WHO knows the secrets of the skies and the earth.”  The fact is that HE is Oft-Forgiving and Most Merciful.

7.               Waqaloo mali hatha alrrasooli yakulu alttaAAama wayamshee fee alaswaqi lawla onzila ilayhi malakun fayakoona maAAahu natheeran
They say: "What kind of Rasool is he -- who eats food and walks in the markets?  Why has not an angel been sent down to accompany him who would have threatened (those who refused to believe)?

8.                Aw yulqa ilayhi kanzun aw takoonu lahu jannatun yakulu minha waqala alththalimoona in tattabiAAoona illa rajulan mashooran
"Or at least some treasure would have been sent down for him, or either he should have some garden from that he could have gotten provisions of life.”  And these cruel (Zâlimûn) say: "You people are following an enchanted person”.

9.               Onthur kayfa daraboo laka alamthala fadalloo fala yastateeAAoona sabeelan
Look!  What strange arguments these people are bringing before you, they are gone astray so they cannot think anything of sense.  (R) 16

10.            Tabaraka allathee in shaa jaAAala laka khayran min thalika jannatin tajree min tahtiha alanharu wayajAAal laka qusooran
Highly blessed is HE -- WHO if (HE) wants can give you a lot more than what these people are suggesting for you (not just one) many gardens underneath which canals flow and huge palaces.

11.            Bal kaththaboo bialssaAAati waaAAtadna liman kaththaba bialssaAAati saAAeeran
The truth is that these people have denied “The Hour”
--and the one who denies that Hour for him/her WE have prepared a flaming Fire.

12.            Itha raathum min makanin baAAeedin samiAAoo laha taghayyuthan wazafeeran
When it (Hell) will see them from a far away -- then they will hear the sound of its raging and roaring.

13.            Waitha olqoo minha makanan dayyiqan muqarraneena daAAaw hunalika thubooran
And when they will be chained together and thrown into a narrow place of it then they will begin to call for their death,

14.            La tadAAoo alyawma thubooran wahidan waodAAoo thubooran katheeran
(At that time it will be said to them) Today not just one death -- but call for many deaths.

15.            Qul athalika khayrun am jannatu alkhuldi allatee wuAAida almuttaqoona kanat lahum jazaan wamaseeran
Ask them: "Is this end better or the eternal
Paradise which has been promised to the humble and pious people (Muttaqûn) that will be the reward of their righteous deeds and a final destination of their journey,

16.            Lahum feeha ma yashaoona khalideena kana AAala rabbika waAAdan masoolan
Where their every desire will be fulfilled, and where they will stay forever, it is a promise binding upon your Râbb that must be fulfilled.

17.           Wayawma yahshuruhum wama yaAAbudoona min dooni Allahi fayaqoolu aantum adlaltum AAibadee haolai am hum dalloo alssabeela
And on that Day when (your Râbb) will gather these people together and will also call their (those) deities whom they are serving today except Allâh then HE will ask them: "Did you mislead MY these servants?  Or they themselves went astray from the Straight Path?"

18.            Qaloo subhanaka ma kana yanbaghee lana an nattakhitha min doonika min awliyaa walakin mattaAAtahum waabaahum hatta nasoo alththikra wakanoo qawman booran
They will say: "Praise be to YOU, it was not for us to take any protector (Auliyâ) except YOU.  But YOU gave them and to their forefathers plentiful provisions of life -- so that they forgot the lesson and became miserable.”

19.            Faqad kaththabookum bima taqooloona fama tastateeAAoona sarfan wala nasran waman yathlim minkum nuthiqhu AAathaban kabeeran
Thus just like this they (your deities) will deny your those things which you are saying today, then you will neither be able to repel your misery (punishment), nor will get any help from anyplace, and whoever among you does wrong, WE shall make him/her taste a severe torment.

20.            Wama arsalna qablaka mina almursaleena illa innahum layakuloona alttaAAama wayamshoona fee alaswaqi wajaAAalna baAAdakum libaAAdin fitnatan atasbiroona wakana rabbuka baseeran
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), the Rasools whom WE had sent before you they all used to eat food and they were the people who used to walk in the market.  In fact, WE have made you people a trial for one and another.  Do you observe patience?  Your Râbb watches everything.  (R) 17
