Chapter 23

Total Verses: 83

بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمـَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi
(I) Begin with the Name of Allâh WHO is Most Loving and Most Merciful

وَمَا لِي لاَ أَعْبُدُ الَّذِي فَطَرَنِي وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ

22.            Wama liya la aAAbudu allathee fataranee wailayhi turjaAAoona
Why should I not serve the One WHO has created me and to WHOM you all have to return?

أَأَتَّخِذُ مِن دُونِهِ آلِهَةً إِن يُرِدْنِ الرَّحْمَن بِضُرٍّ لاَّ تُغْنِ عَنِّي شَفَاعَتُهُمْ شَيْئًا وَلاَ يُنقِذُونِ

23.            Aattakhithu min doonihi alihatan in yuridni alrrahmanu bidurrin la tughni AAannee shafaAAatuhum shayan wala yunqithooni
Should I take other deities rejecting HIM?  Whereas if the Most Loving (Allâh, subhaana wa ta'aala) wants to harm me then neither their intercession will avail me anything nor they can liberate me? 

إِنِّي إِذًا لَّفِي ضَلاَلٍ مُّبِينٍ

24.             Innee ithan lafee dalalin mubeenin
If I do so then I will be in clear error.

إِنِّي آمَنتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ فَاسْمَعُونِ

25.             Innee amantu birabbikum faismaAAooni
I have brought Faith in your Râbb, you should also take my word"

قِيلَ ادْخُلِ الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ يَا لَيْتَ قَوْمِي يَعْلَمُونَ

26.             Qeela odkhuli aljannata qala ya layta qawmee yaAAlamoona
(Consequently those people killed him and) It was said to him: "Enter into Paradise”.  He said: "Would that!  My nation knew it

بِمَا غَفَرَ لِي رَبِّي وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ الْمُكْرَمِينَ

27.             Bima ghafara lee rabbee wajaAAalanee mina almukrameena
That for what reason my Râbb has forgiven me and included me among the honored ones." 

وَمَا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَى قَوْمِهِ مِن بَعْدِهِ مِنْ جُندٍ مِّنَ السَّمَاء وَمَا كُنَّا مُنزِلِينَ

28.             Wama anzalna AAala qawmihi min baAAdihi min jundin mina alssamai wama kunna munzileena
After him, WE did not send any army from the sky against his nation.  WE did not have any desire to send one.

إِن كَانَتْ إِلاَّ صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ خَامِدُونَ

29.             In kanat illa sayhatan wahidatan faitha hum khamidoona
So there was a blast (Saîhah) and suddenly they all were lifeless.

يَا حَسْرَةً عَلَى الْعِبَادِ مَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلاَّ كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِؤُون

30.             Ya hasratan AAala alAAibadi ma yateehim min rasoolin illa kanoo bihi yastahzioona
Woe on the condition of human, whomever Rasool came to them they kept making mockery of him.

أَلَمْ يَرَوْا كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّنْ الْقُرُونِ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ لاَ يَرْجِعُونَ

31.             Alam yaraw kam ahlakna qablahum mina alqurooni annahum ilayhim la yarjiAAoona
Have they not seen that how many nations WE have destroyed before them and after this, they never returned to them?

وَإِن كُلٌّ لَّمَّا جَمِيعٌ لَّدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُونَ

32.             Wain kullun lamma jameeAAun ladayna muhdaroona
One Day they all will be presented before US.  (R) 1

وَآيَةٌ لَّهُمُ الْأَرْضُ الْمَيْتَةُ أَحْيَيْنَاهَا وَأَخْرَجْنَا مِنْهَا حَبًّا فَمِنْهُ يَأْكُلُونَ

33.             Waayatun lahumu alardu almaytatu ahyaynaha waakhrajna minha habban faminhu yakuloona
The barren land is a sign for these people.  WE gave it life and produced grain from it, which they eat.

وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا جَنَّاتٍ مِن نَّخِيلٍ وَأَعْنَابٍ وَفَجَّرْنَا فِيهَا مِنْ الْعُيُونِ

34.             WajaAAalna feeha jannatin min nakheelin waaAAnabin wafajjarna feeha mina alAAuyooni
WE grow the gardens of date-palm trees and grapes from it and caused spring to gush out from it,

لِيَأْكُلُوا مِن ثَمَرِهِ وَمَا عَمِلَتْهُ أَيْدِيهِمْ أَفَلَا يَشْكُرُونَ

35.             Liyakuloo min thamarihi wama AAamilathu aydeehim afala yashkuroona
So that they may eat its fruits.  Their hands have not created all this.  Then do they not offer thanks? 

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ الْأَزْوَاجَ كُلَّهَا مِمَّا تُنبِتُ الْأَرْضُ وَمِنْ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَمِمَّا لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

36.             Subhana allathee khalaqa alazwaja kullaha mimma tunbitu alardu wamin anfusihim wamimma la yaAAlamoona
Pure is HE WHO created all kinds of pairs whether they are from the produce of earth or from their own kind (human beings, male/female) or from those things about which they do not know anything.

وَآيَةٌ لَّهُمْ اللَّيْلُ نَسْلَخُ مِنْهُ النَّهَارَ فَإِذَا هُم مُّظْلِمُونَ

37.             Waayatun lahumu allaylu naslakhu minhu alnnahara faitha hum muthlimoona
The night is another sign for them, WE remove the day from above it -- then darkness covers them.

وَالشَّمْسُ تَجْرِي لِمُسْتَقَرٍّ لَّهَا ذَلِكَ تَقْدِيرُ الْعَزِيزِ الْعَلِيمِ

38.             Waalshshamsu tajree limustaqarrin laha thalika taqdeeru alAAazeezi alAAaleemi
And the sun, it is moving towards its destination.  This all is established by the One WHO is Omnipotent.

وَالْقَمَرَ قَدَّرْنَاهُ مَنَازِلَ حَتَّى عَادَ كَالْعُرْجُونِ الْقَدِيمِ

39.             Waalqamara qaddarnahu manazila hatta AAada kaalAAurjooni alqadeemi
And the moon, WE have set-up stages for it until it passes through them (all these stages) then it remains like a dry palm-branch. 

لَا الشَّمْسُ يَنبَغِي لَهَا أَن تُدْرِكَ الْقَمَرَ وَلَا اللَّيْلُ سَابِقُ النَّهَارِ وَكُلٌّ فِي فَلَكٍ يَسْبَحُونَ

40.             La alshshamsu yanbaghee laha an tudrika alqamara wala allaylu sabiqu alnnahari wakullun fee falakin yasbahoona
Neither it is possible for the sun to go and catch the moon and nor the night can outpace the day.  All are floating in separate orbits. 

وَآيَةٌ لَّهُمْ أَنَّا حَمَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ فِي الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ

41.             Waayatun lahum anna hamalna thurriyyatahum fee alfulki almashhooni
It is also a sign for them that WE boarded their progeny in the loaded boat.

وَخَلَقْنَا لَهُم مِّن مِّثْلِهِ مَا يَرْكَبُونَ

42.             Wakhalaqna lahum min mithlihi ma yarkaboona
And then created such other boats for them on which they embark.

وَإِن نَّشَأْ نُغْرِقْهُمْ فَلَا صَرِيخَ لَهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنقَذُونَ

43.             Wain nasha nughriqhum fala sareekha lahum wala hum yunqathoona
If WE want then WE should drown them, none would be there to hear their cry and they could not be saved in any way.

إِلَّا رَحْمَةً مِّنَّا وَمَتَاعًا إِلَى حِينٍ

44.             Illa rahmatan minna wamataAAan ila heenin
Therefore, it is OUR Mercy, which brings them across and gives them respite to enjoy the life for an appointed term.

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ اتَّقُوا مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَمَا خَلْفَكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ

45.             Waitha qeela lahumu ittaqoo ma bayna aydeekum wama khalfakum laAAallakum turhamoona
When it is said to these people: "Save yourselves from that end-result which is coming in front of you and (which) has been passed away behind you, perhaps you may receive Mercy (then they act as they have not listen it).

وَمَا تَأْتِيهِم مِّنْ آيَةٍ مِّنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ إِلَّا كَانُوا عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ

46.             Wama tateehim min ayatin min ayati rabbihim illa kanoo AAanha muAArideena
Whichever Verse (Ayât) from among the Verses of their Râbb comes before them they do not come (accept it/embrace it) to it.

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ أَنفِقُوا مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمْ اللَّهُ قَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنُطْعِمُ مَن لَّوْ يَشَاء اللَّهُ أَطْعَمَهُ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا فِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ

47.             Waitha qeela lahum anfiqoo mimma razaqakumu Allahu qala allatheena kafaroo lillatheena amanoo anutAAimu man law yashao Allahu atAAamahu in antum illa fee dalalin mubeenin
And when it is said to them: "Whatever provisions Allâh has given you from it also spend some in the Path of Allâh then these people who have committed infidelity (Kufr) respond to those who brought Faith "Should we feed those whom if Allâh wanted (HE) could have fed HIMSELF?  You are absolutely gone astray."

وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَى هَذَا الْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

48.             Wayaqooloona mata hatha alwaAAdu in kuntum sadiqeena
These people ask: "After all when will the threat of this Dooms Day be fulfilled?  Tell if you are truthful”.

مَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً تَأْخُذُهُمْ وَهُمْ يَخِصِّمُونَ

49.             Ma yanthuroona illa sayhatan wahidatan takhuthuhum wahum yakhissimoona
In fact what they are waiting for is a Blast (Saîhah) which will seize them all of sudden while they will be disputing (about their worldly matters), 

فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ تَوْصِيَةً وَلَا إِلَى أَهْلِهِمْ يَرْجِعُونَ

50.             Fala yastateeAAoona tawsiyatan wala ila ahlihim yarjiAAoona
And at that time, they will not be able to make a will, nor be able to return to their homes.  (R) 2

وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ فَإِذَا هُم مِّنَ الْأَجْدَاثِ إِلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَنسِلُونَ

51.             Wanufikha fee alssoori faitha hum mina alajdathi ila rabbihim yansiloona
Then a Trumpet will be blown.  And all of sudden they will come out of their graves to be presented before their Râbb.

قَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا مَن بَعَثَنَا مِن مَّرْقَدِنَا هَذَا مَا وَعَدَ الرَّحْمَنُ وَصَدَقَ الْمُرْسَلُونَ

52.             Qaloo ya waylana man baAAathana min marqadina hatha ma waAAada alrrahmanu wasadaqa almursaloona
They will say with confusion: "Oh, who has raised us up from our place of sleep”?  --  This is the same thing which Most Loving (Allâh, subhaana wa ta'aala) had promised and the word of Rasools was true."

إِن كَانَتْ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ جَمِيعٌ لَّدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُونَ

53.             In kanat illa sayhatan wahidatan faitha hum jameeAAun ladayna muhdaroona
There will be only a single loud noise (Saîhah) and all of them will be presented before US.

فَالْيَوْمَ لَا تُظْلَمُ نَفْسٌ شَيْئًا وَلَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

54.             Faalyawma la tuthlamu nafsun shayan wala tujzawna illa ma kuntum taAAmaloona
Today no unjust will be done to anyone and you will be rewarded precisely according to the deeds you had been doing --

إِنَّ أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ الْيَوْمَ فِي شُغُلٍ فَاكِهُونَ

55.             Inna ashaba aljannati alyawma fee shughulin fakihoona
Toady the inhabitants of the Paradise are busy in enjoyment.

هُمْ وَأَزْوَاجُهُمْ فِي ظِلَالٍ عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ مُتَّكِؤُونَ

56.             Hum waazwajuhum fee thilalin AAala alaraiki muttakioona
They and their wives are in thick shades resting in the place of honor,

لَهُمْ فِيهَا فَاكِهَةٌ وَلَهُم مَّا يَدَّعُونَ

57.             Lahum feeha fakihatun walahum ma yaddaAAoona
All kinds of tasty eatable things are present there for them, whatever they desire it is presented to them,

سَلَامٌ قَوْلًا مِن رَّبٍّ رَّحِيمٍ

58.             Salamun qawlan min rabbin raheemin
A word of peace (Salâmun) has been sent to them from the Most Merciful Râbb --

وَامْتَازُوا الْيَوْمَ أَيُّهَا الْمُجْرِمُونَ

59.             Waimtazoo alyawma ayyuha almujrimoona
And O criminals (Al-Mujrimûn), today you are separated (away from the others).

أَلَمْ أَعْهَدْ إِلَيْكُمْ يَا بَنِي آدَمَ أَن لَّا تَعْبُدُوا الشَّيْطَانَ إِنَّهُ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ

60.             Alam aAAhad ilaykum ya banee adama an la taAAbudoo alshshaytana innahu lakum AAaduwwun mubeenun
O Children of Adam, did I not advise you that do not serve Shaitân, he is your open enemy,

وَأَنْ اعْبُدُونِي هَذَا صِرَاطٌ مُّسْتَقِيمٌ

61.             Waani oAAbudoonee hatha siratun mustaqeemun
And serve ME Alone this is the Straight Path?

وَلَقَدْ أَضَلَّ مِنكُمْ جِبِلًّا كَثِيرًا أَفَلَمْ تَكُونُوا تَعْقِلُونَ

62.             Walaqad adalla minkum jibillan katheeran afalam takoonoo taAAqiloona
But instead of all that, he misled a large group of you.  Did you not have commonsense? 

هَذِهِ جَهَنَّمُ الَّتِي كُنتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ

63.             Hathihi jahannamu allatee kuntum tooAAadoona
This is the same Hell by which you had been forewarned 

اصْلَوْهَا الْيَوْمَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ

64.             Islawha alyawma bima kuntum takfuroona
The infidelity (Kufr) you have been committing in the world because of that now become a fuel of it.

الْيَوْمَ نَخْتِمُ عَلَى أَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَتُكَلِّمُنَا أَيْدِيهِمْ وَتَشْهَدُ أَرْجُلُهُمْ بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ

65.             Alyawma nakhtimu AAala afwahihim watukallimuna aydeehim watashhadu arjuluhum bima kanoo yaksiboona
Today WE are going to seal their mouths, their hands will speak to US and their legs will bear witness that what they having been earning in the world.

وَلَوْ نَشَاء لَطَمَسْنَا عَلَى أَعْيُنِهِمْ فَاسْتَبَقُوا الصِّرَاطَ فَأَنَّى يُبْصِرُونَ

66.             Walaw nashao latamasna AAala aAAyunihim faistabaqoo alssirata faanna yubsiroona
If WE want (WE) should shut their eyes, then they likely (struggle) to see the Path, from which source will they seek the Path? 

وَلَوْ نَشَاء لَمَسَخْنَاهُمْ عَلَى مَكَانَتِهِمْ فَمَا اسْتَطَاعُوا مُضِيًّا وَلَا يَرْجِعُونَ

67.             Walaw nashao lamasakhnahum AAala makanatihim fama istataAAoo mudiyyan wala yarjiAAoona
If WE desire then WE deformed them in such a way on their standing places that they could neither move forward nor turn back.  (R) 3

وَمَنْ نُعَمِّرْهُ نُنَكِّسْهُ فِي الْخَلْقِ أَفَلَا يَعْقِلُونَ

68.             Waman nuAAammirhu nunakkishu fee alkhalqi afala yaAAqiloona
WE just reverse the construction of those whom WE give long life (even seeing this condition) do they not come into their senses? 

وَمَا عَلَّمْنَاهُ الشِّعْرَ وَمَا يَنبَغِي لَهُ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ وَقُرْآنٌ مُّبِينٌ

69.             Wama AAallamnahu alshshiAAra wama yanbaghee lahu in huwa illa thikrun waquranun mubeenun
WE have not taught him (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) poetry and nor does poetry suits him.  This is an advice and a clearly read Book (Al-Qur'ân), 

لِيُنذِرَ مَن كَانَ حَيًّا وَيَحِقَّ الْقَوْلُ عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ

70.             Liyunthira man kana hayyan wayahiqqa alqawlu AAala alkafireena
So that, he may warn every such person who is alive and justification is proved against the disbelievers.

أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّا خَلَقْنَا لَهُمْ مِمَّا عَمِلَتْ أَيْدِينَا أَنْعَامًا فَهُمْ لَهَا مَالِكُونَ

71.             Awa lam yaraw anna khalaqna lahum mimma AAamilat aydeena anAAaman fahum laha malikoona
Don’t these people see that among the creations of OUR Own Hands WE have created animals for them and now they are the owners of those (animals).

وَذَلَّلْنَاهَا لَهُمْ فَمِنْهَا رَكُوبُهُمْ وَمِنْهَا يَأْكُلُونَ

72.             Wathallalnaha lahum faminha rakoobuhum waminha yakuloona
WE have subdued these (animals) for them in such a fashion that they ride on some of them and eat the meat of others, 

وَلَهُمْ فِيهَا مَنَافِعُ وَمَشَارِبُ أَفَلَا يَشْكُرُونَ

73.             Walahum feeha manafiAAu wamasharibu afala yashkuroona
And for them there are different kinds of benefits and drinks in these (animals).  Then do they not show thankfulness?

وَاتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ آلِهَةً لَعَلَّهُمْ يُنصَرُونَ

74.             Waittakhathoo min dooni Allahi alihatan laAAallahum yunsaroona
Having all these things, they have taken other deities except Allâh and (still) they are hopeful that they will be helped. 

لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَهُمْ وَهُمْ لَهُمْ جُندٌ مُّحْضَرُونَ

75.             La yastateeAAoona nasrahum wahum lahum jundun muhdaroona
Those (deities) cannot help them at all but on the contrary, they are standing as their ever-ready troops.

فَلَا يَحْزُنكَ قَوْلُهُمْ إِنَّا نَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ

76.             Fala yahzunka qawluhum inna naAAlamu ma yusirroona wama yuAAlinoona
Well, the things they are fabricating -- those should not grieve you; WE know all their open and hidden things.

أَوَلَمْ يَرَ الْإِنسَانُ أَنَّا خَلَقْنَاهُ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ فَإِذَا هُوَ خَصِيمٌ مُّبِينٌ

77.             Awa lam yara alinsanu anna khalaqnahu min nutfatin faitha huwa khaseemun mubeenun
Does not human see that WE created him/her from sperm (Nutfah) and then he/she stands as a visible quarrelsome?

وَضَرَبَ لَنَا مَثَلًا وَنَسِيَ خَلْقَهُ قَالَ مَنْ يُحْيِي الْعِظَامَ وَهِيَ رَمِيمٌ

78.             Wadaraba lana mathalan wanasiya khalqahu qala man yuhyee alAAithama wahiya rameemun
Now he/she puts forth example against US and forgets his/her own creation.  (He/she) says: "Who will give life to these bones when they would have become rotten?" 

قُلْ يُحْيِيهَا الَّذِي أَنشَأَهَا أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ خَلْقٍ عَلِيمٌ

79.             Qul yuhyeeha allathee anshaaha awwala marratin wahuwa bikulli khalqin AAaleemun
Tell him/her: "HE will bring them to life WHO had created them before (first time), and HE knows all skills of creation,

الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ الشَّجَرِ الْأَخْضَرِ نَارًا فَإِذَا أَنتُم مِّنْهُ تُوقِدُونَ

80.             Allathee jaAAala lakum mina alshshajari alakhdari naran faitha antum minhu tooqidoona
HE, WHO created fire for you from the green-tree and you ignite your stove with it.

أَوَلَيْسَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ بِقَادِرٍ عَلَى أَنْ يَخْلُقَ مِثْلَهُم بَلَى وَهُوَ الْخَلَّاقُ الْعَلِيمُ

81.             Awa laysa allathee khalaqa alssamawati waalarda biqadirin AAala an yakhluqa mithlahum bala wahuwa alkhallaqu alAAaleemu
Did HE WHO create the skies and the earth not has the power to create people like them?  Why not -- when HE is the skillful Creator.

إِنَّمَا أَمْرُهُ إِذَا أَرَادَ شَيْئًا أَنْ يَقُولَ لَهُ كُنْ فَيَكُونُ

82.             Innama amruhu itha arada shayan an yaqoola lahu kun fayakoonu
When HE intends about anything then HE just commands it, To Be and It Is.

فَسُبْحَانَ الَّذِي بِيَدِهِ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ

83.             Fasubhana allathee biyadihi malakootu kulli shayin wailayhi turjaAAoona
Pure is HE in WHOSE Hands is the complete control of everything, and you are going to be brought back to HIM.  (R) 4

“As-Sâffât - The Arrangers/ Those who set the ranks –  (Makki - 37^th Surah)

بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمـَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi
(I) Begin with the Name of Allâh WHO is Most Loving and Most Merciful

وَالصَّافَّاتِ صَفًّا

1.                Waalssaffati saffan
(I swear) By those who stand making Queues,

فَالزَّاجِرَاتِ زَجْرًا

2.                 Faalzzajirati zajran
Then (I swear) by those who curse and scold.

فَالتَّالِيَاتِ ذِكْرًا

3.                 Faalttaliyati thikran
Then (I swear) by those who recite the word of advise (Al-Qur'ân)

إِنَّ إِلَهَكُمْ لَوَاحِدٌ

4.                 Inna ilahakum lawahidun
Your real deity (Ilâh) is only ONE (Allâh, subhaana wa ta'aala) --

رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ الْمَشَارِقِ

5.                 Rabbu alssamawati waalardi wama baynahuma warabbu almashariqi
The One WHO is Owner of the skies, the earth, and all that, which is in between the skies and the earth, and Owner of all the Easts.

إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا السَّمَاء الدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ الْكَوَاكِبِ

6.                 Inna zayyanna alssamaa alddunya bizeenatin alkawakibi
WE have decorated the sky of the world with stars

وَحِفْظًا مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ مَّارِدٍ

7.                 Wahifthan min kulli shaytanin maridin
And have guarded it from every rebellious Satan (Shayâtin).

لَا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى الْمَلَإِ الْأَعْلَى وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٍ

8.                 La yassammaAAoona ila almalai alaAAla wayuqthafoona min kulli janibin
These Satans cannot hear the conversation of the superior assembly; they are gun downed and hunted from every side

دُحُورًا وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَاصِبٌ

9.                 Duhooran walahum AAathabun wasibun
And there is constant torment for them.

إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ الْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُ شِهَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ

10.              Illa man khatifa alkhatfata faatbaAAahu shihabun thaqibun
However, if someone tries to snatch away anything -- then a burning flame follows him.

فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَا إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاهُم مِّن طِينٍ لَّازِبٍ

11.              Faistaftihim ahum ashaddu khalqan am man khalaqna inna khalaqnahum min teenin lazibin
Now ask them: "Is their creation more difficult or of those things which WE have created?  WE have created them with sticky clay.

بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ

12.              Bal AAajibta wayaskharoona
You are wondering (at the Power of Allâh, subhaana wa ta'aala) and they are making fun of it

وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا لَا يَذْكُرُونَ

13.             Waitha thukkiroo la yathkuroona
Made them to understand but they do not understand

وَإِذَا رَأَوْا آيَةً يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ

14.              Waitha raaw ayatan yastaskhiroona
Whatever sign (Ayâh) they see they mock at it.

وَقَالُوا إِنْ هَذَا إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ

15.              Waqaloo in hatha illa sihrun mubeenun
And (they) say:  "This is an obvious Magic,

أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَئِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ

16.              Aitha mitna wakunna turaban waAAithaman ainna lamabAAoothoona
Can it be that when we are dead, and become dust and remain as skeleton at that time we will be raised again to life?

أَوَآبَاؤُنَا الْأَوَّلُونَ

17.              Awa abaona alawwaloona
And will our forefathers of ancient time also be raised again?"

قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنتُمْ دَاخِرُونَ

18.              Qul naAAam waantum dakhiroona
Tell them: "Yes, and you are helpless (against Allâh, subhaana wa ta'aala)

فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ

19.              Fainnama hiya zajratun wahidatun faitha hum yanthuroona
So there will be a single shout (Zajrah) and all of sudden they will be seeing (all that of which they are being informed) by their own eyes. 

وَقَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا هَذَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ

20.              Waqaloo ya waylana hatha yawmu alddeeni
At that moment they will say: "Woe to us, this is the Day of Judgment.”--

هَذَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ الَّذِي كُنتُمْ بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ

21.              Hatha yawmu alfasli allathee kuntum bihi tukaththiboona
(It will be said): "This is the same Day of Judgment, which you used to deny.”  (R) 5

احْشُرُوا الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا وَأَزْوَاجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا يَعْبُدُونَ

22.              Ohshuroo allatheena thalamoo waazwajahum wama kanoo yaAAbudoona
(It will be commanded): "Capture all the cruel and their companions and those deities whom they used to worship rejecting Allâh

مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ فَاهْدُوهُمْ إِلَى صِرَاطِ الْجَحِيمِ

23.              Min dooni Allahi faihdoohum ila sirati aljaheemi
Then show them all the way to Hell.

وَقِفُوهُمْ إِنَّهُم مَّسْئُولُونَ

24.              Waqifoohum innahum masooloona
And just stop them for a while (WE) have to ask something from them.

مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ

25.              Ma lakum la tanasaroona
What happened to you, now why don’t you help one another?"

بَلْ هُمُ الْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ

26.              Bal humu alyawma mustaslimoona
Oh, today they are giving up themselves (and one another)”!

وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءلُونَ

27.              Waaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdin yatasaaloona
After this, they will turn to each other and start disputing among themselves.

قَالُوا إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ الْيَمِينِ

28.              Qaloo innakum kuntum tatoonana AAani alyameeni
(The followers) Will say (to their leaders):  "You used to come to us from the right side”.

قَالُوا بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ

29.              Qaloo bal lam takoonoo mumineena
They will reply: "No, but you yourselves were not going to bring Faith,

وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَانٍ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا طَاغِينَ

30.              Wama kana lana AAalaykum min sultanin bal kuntum qawman tagheena
We had no authority over you; you yourselves were rebellious people.

فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَا إِنَّا لَذَائِقُونَ

31.              Fahaqqa AAalayna qawlu rabbina inna lathaiqoona
Consequently, we deserved the Word of our Râbb that we are going to taste the torment.

فَأَغْوَيْنَاكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَاوِينَ

32.              Faaghwaynakum inna kunna ghaweena
So we misled you, we ourselves were gone astray."

فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِي الْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ

33.              Fainnahum yawmaithin fee alAAathabi mushtarikoona
This is how they all will be partners in that torment.

إِنَّا كَذَلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِينَ

34.              Inna kathalika nafAAalu bialmujrimeena
This is what WE do with the criminals (Mujrimûn).

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ

35.              Innahum kanoo itha qeela lahum la ilaha illa Allahu yastakbiroona
These were those people -- when it was said to them: “There is none worthy of worship except Allâh (Lâ ilâha ill Allâh)”, then they became arrogant and used to say.

وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوا آلِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ مَّجْنُونٍ

36.              Wayaqooloona ainna latarikoo alihatina lishaAAirin majnoonin
"Should we forsake our deities for the sake of a distracted poet”?

بَلْ جَاء بِالْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

37.              Bal jaa bialhaqqi wasaddaqa almursaleena
Whereas he (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) came with Truth and he affirmed the Rasools.

إِنَّكُمْ لَذَائِقُو الْعَذَابِ الْأَلِيمِ

38.              Innakum lathaiqoo alAAathabi alaleemi
(Now it will be said to them that) You are certainly going to taste the painful torment.

وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

39.              Wama tujzawna illa ma kuntum taAAmaloona
And whatever reward is being given to you, it is for those deeds, which you have been doing.

إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ

40.              Illa AAibada Allahi almukhlaseena
But the chosen people of Allâh will remain save (from this bad end).

أُوْلَئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌ مَّعْلُومٌ

41.              Olaika lahum rizqun maAAloomun
There is known provision for them,

فَوَاكِهُ وَهُم مُّكْرَمُونَ

42.              Fawakihu wahum mukramoona
All kinds of tasty things and the Gardens of Blessings

فِي جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ

43.              Fee jannati alnnaAAeemi
Where they will be kept with honor.

عَلَى سُرُرٍ مُّتَقَابِلِينَ

44.              AAala sururin mutaqabileena
They will sit on thrones facing one another.

يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِكَأْسٍ مِن مَّعِينٍ

45.              Yutafu AAalayhim bikasin min maAAeenin
The cups filled from the fountains of wine will be circulated among them

بَيْضَاء لَذَّةٍ لِّلشَّارِبِينَ

46.              Baydaa laththatin lilshsharibeena
Pure white wine, which will be delicious for the drinkers,

لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ

47.              La feeha ghawlun wala hum AAanha yunzafoona
Neither there will be any harm to their body (Ghoul) from it and nor their sense will suffer from it.

وَعِنْدَهُمْ قَاصِرَاتُ الطَّرْفِ عِينٌ

48.              WaAAindahum qasiratu alttarfi AAeenun
And with them will be bashful women with beautiful eyes,

كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَّكْنُونٌ

49.              Kaannahunna baydun maknoonun
Such delicate as a hidden thin skin under the eggs’ shell. 

فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءلُونَ

50.              Faaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdin yatasaaloona
Then they will turn to one another and ask about each other.

قَالَ قَائِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ إِنِّي كَانَ لِي قَرِينٌ

51.              Qala qailun minhum innee kana lee qareenun
One of them will say: "I had one companion in the world,

يَقُولُ أَئِنَّكَ لَمِنْ الْمُصَدِّقِينَ

52.              Yaqoolu ainnaka lamina almusaddiqeena
Who used to say me, are you also among those who testify?

أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَئِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ

53.              Aitha mitna wakunna turaban waAAithaman ainna lamadeenoona
Shall we really be dead and become dust and remain as skeleton then we will be rewarded or punished?"

قَالَ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ

54.              Qala hal antum muttaliAAoona
Now do you want to see where that person is?

فَاطَّلَعَ فَرَآهُ فِي سَوَاء الْجَحِيمِ

55.              FaittalaAAa faraahu fee sawai aljaheemi
Saying this as soon as he will bend, he will see him in the depth of Hell 

قَالَ تَاللَّهِ إِنْ كِدتَّ لَتُرْدِينِ

56.              Qala taAllahi in kidta laturdeeni
And by addressing to him will say: "By Allâh!  You were going to destroy me

وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّي لَكُنتُ مِنَ الْمُحْضَرِينَ

57.            Walawla niAAmatu rabbee lakuntu mina almuhdareena
If the Mercy of my Râbb would not be with me then today I also would be among those people who have come arrested."

أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ

58.              Afama nahnu bimayyiteena
Well, then: "Are we not going to die now?

إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا الْأُولَى وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ

59.              Illa mawtatana aloola wama nahnu bimuAAaththabeena
The death, which was going to come to us, it had come?  Now no punishment is for us?”

إِنَّ هَذَا لَهُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ

60.              Inna hatha lahuwa alfawzu alAAatheemu
Certainly, this is the excellent success.

لِمِثْلِ هَذَا فَلْيَعْمَلْ الْعَامِلُونَ

61.              Limithli hatha falyaAAmali alAAamiloona
Those who attempt; should strive for such success

أَذَلِكَ خَيْرٌ نُّزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ الزَّقُّومِ

62.              Athalika khayrun nuzulan am shajaratu alzzaqqoomi
Ask -- is this feast better or the tree of Zaqqûm (a horrible tree in Hell)?

        إِنَّا جَعَلْنَاهَا فِتْنَةً لِّلظَّالِمِينَ                                                         

63.              Inna jaAAalnaha fitnatan lilththalimeena
WE have made that tree a trial for the cruel (Zâlimûn)

إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ تَخْرُجُ فِي أَصْلِ الْجَحِيمِ

64.              Innaha shajaratun takhruju fee asli aljaheemi
It is a tree that springs out from the bottom of Hell.

طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُ رُؤُوسُ الشَّيَاطِينِ

65.              TalAAuha kaannahu ruoosu alshshayateeni
Its branches are like the heads of Shayâtin (devils);

فَإِنَّهُمْ لَآكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِؤُونَ مِنْهَا الْبُطُونَ

66.              Fainnahum laakiloona minha famalioona minha albutoona
The people of Hell will eat it and fill their bellies with it,

ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًا مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ

67.              Thumma inna lahum AAalayha lashawban min hameemin
Then in addition they will get boiling water to drink.

ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى الْجَحِيمِ

68.              Thumma inna marjiAAahum laila aljaheemi
And then after this their return will be to the same flaming fire of Hell. 

إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا آبَاءهُمْ ضَالِّينَ

69.              Innahum alfaw abaahum dalleena
These are those people who found their forefather in error 

فَهُمْ عَلَى آثَارِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ

70.              Fahum AAala atharihim yuhraAAoona
And hastily followed their footsteps.

وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ

71.              Walaqad dalla qablahum aktharu alawwaleena
Whereas many people before them had gone astray.

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ

72.              Walaqad arsalna feehim munthireena
And WE had sent warner Rasools among them. 

فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُنذَرِينَ

73.              Faonthur kayfa kana AAaqibatu almunthareena
Now see what the end of those who have been warned was! 

إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ

74.              Illa AAibada Allahi almukhlaseena
Therefore, only those servants of Allâh were saved from this evil end -- whom HE has chosen for HIMSELF.  (R) 6

وَلَقَدْ نَادَانَا نُوحٌ فَلَنِعْمَ الْمُجِيبُونَ

75.              Walaqad nadana noohun falaniAAma almujeeboona
(Before this) Nûh had prayed to US then see what an excellent responder WE were.

وَنَجَّيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِيمِ

76.              Wanajjaynahu waahlahu mina alkarbi alAAatheemi
WE saved him and his family from the great distress,

وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُ هُمْ الْبَاقِينَ

77.              WajaAAalna thurriyyatahu humu albaqeena
And made his progeny to be the only survivors,

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الْآخِرِينَ

78.              Watarakna AAalayhi fee alakhireena
And left his praise and honesty among the subsequent generations.

سَلَامٌ عَلَى نُوحٍ فِي الْعَالَمِينَ

79.              Salamun AAala noohin fee alAAalameena
Salutation (Salâmun) is to Nûh among all the people of the world ('Alamîn).

إِنَّا كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ

80.              Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineena
WE give such reward to the pious people (Muhsinûn)

إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

81.              Innahu min AAibadina almumineena
In fact, he (Nûh) was one of OUR believing servants.

ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا الْآخَرِينَ

82.              Thumma aghraqna alakhareena
Then WE drowned the other group.

وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِ لَإِبْرَاهِيمَ

83.              Wainna min sheeAAatihi laibraheema
And Ibrâhim followed the path of Nûh.

إِذْ جَاء رَبَّهُ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ

84.              Ith jaa rabbahu biqalbin saleemin
When he came to his Râbb with a pure heart.

إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ

85.              Ith qala liabeehi waqawmihi matha taAAbudoona
When he said to his father and his nation: "What are these things that you are worshiping? 

أَئِفْكًا آلِهَةً دُونَ اللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ

86.              Aifkan alihatan doona Allahi tureedoona
Do you seek false deities rejecting Allâh? 

فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

87.              Fama thannukum birabbi alAAalameena
After all what do you think about the Râbb-ul-'Alamîn (Nourisher/Sustainer of the entire world)?"

فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةً فِي النُّجُومِ

88.              Fanathara nathratan fee alnnujoomi
Then he glanced the stars 

فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَقِيمٌ

89.              Faqala innee saqeemun
And said I am not feeling well.

فَتَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ

90.              Fatawallaw AAanhu mudbireena
Thus, those people departed leaving him behind.

فَرَاغَ إِلَى آلِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ

91.              Faragha ila alihatihim faqala ala takuloona
In their absence he quietly entered into the temple of their deities (Ilâhan) and said: "Why don’t you eat?

مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنطِقُونَ

92.              Ma lakum la tantiqoona
What is wrong, you don’t even speak?"

فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًا بِالْيَمِينِ

93.              Faragha AAalayhim darban bialyameeni
After this, he turned upon them and striked them lots with right hand. 

فَأَقْبَلُوا إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ

94.              Faaqbaloo ilayhi yaziffoona
Those people came running to him (on their return).

قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ

95.             Qala ataAAbudoona ma tanhitoona
He asked: "Do you worship those things which you have created yourselves? 

وَاللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ

96.             WaAllahu khalaqakum wama taAAmaloona
Whereas Allâh has created you as well as those things which you make".

قَالُوا ابْنُوا لَهُ بُنْيَانًا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِي الْجَحِيمِ

97.             Qaloo ibnoo lahu bunyanan faalqoohu fee aljaheemi
They said to one another: "Prepare a huge fire for him and throw him into the blazing fire”.

فَأَرَادُوا بِهِ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنَاهُمُ الْأَسْفَلِينَ

98.             Faaradoo bihi kaydan fajaAAalnahumu alasfaleena
They wanted to do action against him, but WE put them down. 

وَقَالَ إِنِّي ذَاهِبٌ إِلَى رَبِّي سَيَهْدِينِ

99.             Waqala innee thahibun ila rabbee sayahdeeni
Ibrâhim said: "I turn to my Râbb, HE will guide me!"

رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ

100.           Rabbi hab lee mina alssaliheena
O my Râbb, give me a son who should be among the pious."

فَبَشَّرْنَاهُ بِغُلَامٍ حَلِيمٍ

101.           Fabashsharnahu bighulamin haleemin
(In response to his prayer) WE gave him the good news of a sober/patient boy.

فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ السَّعْيَ قَالَ يَا بُنَيَّ إِنِّي أَرَى فِي الْمَنَامِ أَنِّي أَذْبَحُكَ فَانظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَى قَالَ يَا أَبَتِ افْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ سَتَجِدُنِي إِن شَاء اللَّهُ مِنَ الصَّابِرِينَ

102.          Falamma balagha maAAahu alssaAAya qala ya bunayya innee ara fee almanami annee athbahuka faonthur matha tara qala ya abati ifAAal ma tumaru satajidunee in shaa Allahu mina alssabireena
When that boy reached to the age of striving with him then (one day) Ibrâhim said to him: "O my son, I saw a dream that I am slaughtering you, now you tell, what is your opinion”?  He said:  "O my father, do as you are being commanded to do, if Allâh wanted (Inshâ'-Allâh) you will find me among the patients (As-Sâbirin)." 

فَلَمَّا أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُ لِلْجَبِينِ

103.          Falamma aslama watallahu liljabeeni
Finally, when they both submitted and Ibrâhim laid his son down on the face 

وَنَادَيْنَاهُ أَنْ يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ

104.          Wanadaynahu an ya ibraheemu
And WE called "O Ibrâhim,

قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ الرُّؤْيَا إِنَّا كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ

105.          Qad saddaqta alrruya inna kathalika najzee almuhsineena
You have proven the dream to be true."  WE give such reward to those who do the righteous deeds (Muhsinûn).

إِنَّ هَذَا لَهُوَ الْبَلَاء الْمُبِينُ

106.          Inna hatha lahuwa albalao almubeenu
Certainly, it was a clear test”.

وَفَدَيْنَاهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍ

107.          Wafadaynahu bithibhin AAatheemin
And WE ransomed that child with a great sacrifice;

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الْآخِرِينَ

108.          Watarakna AAalayhi fee alakhireena
And left his praise and honesty among the subsequent generations.

سَلَامٌ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ

109.          Salamun AAala ibraheema
Salutation (Salâmun) is to Ibrâhim."

كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ

110.          Kathalika najzee almuhsineena
WE give such reward to those who do righteous deeds (Muhsinûn)

إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

111.          Innahu min AAibadina almumineena
Certainly, he was one of OUR believing servants.

وَبَشَّرْنَاهُ بِإِسْحَقَ نَبِيًّا مِّنَ الصَّالِحِينَ

112.          Wabashsharnahu biishaqa nabiyyan mina alssaliheena
And WE gave him the good news of Ishâque, a Prophet from the righteous.

وَبَارَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَى إِسْحَقَ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌ وَظَالِمٌ لِّنَفْسِهِ مُبِينٌ

113.          Wabarakna AAalayhi waAAala ishaqa wamin thurriyyatihima muhsinun wathalimun linafsihi mubeenun
And blessed him as well as Ishâque.  Now from among the progeny of them both, there are some righteous and some are wrong doers to their own souls.  (R) 7  

وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَى مُوسَى وَهَارُونَ

114.          Walaqad mananna AAala moosa waharoona
And WE did favor to Mûsa and Hârûn,

وَنَجَّيْنَاهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِيمِ

115.          Wanajjaynahuma waqawmahuma mina alkarbi alAAatheemi
(WE) Liberated them and their nation from the great distress,

وَنَصَرْنَاهُمْ فَكَانُوا هُمُ الْغَالِبِينَ

116.          Wanasarnahum fakanoo humu alghalibeena
Gave them victory because of it they were victorious,

وَآتَيْنَاهُمَا الْكِتَابَ الْمُسْتَبِينَ

117.          Waataynahuma alkitaba almustabeena
Gave them the very clear Scripture,

وَهَدَيْنَاهُمَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ

118.          Wahadaynahuma alssirata almustaqeema
Guided them to the Right Path,

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِي الْآخِرِينَ

119.          Watarakna AAalayhima fee alakhireena
And kept their remembrance alive among the subsequent generations,

سَلَامٌ عَلَى مُوسَى وَهَارُونَ

120.          Salamun AAala moosa waharoona
Salutation (Salâmun) is to Mûsa and Hârûn.

إِنَّا كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ

121.          Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineena
WE give such reward to those who do righteous deeds (Muhsinûn),

إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

122.          Innahuma min AAibadina almumineena
In fact they were OUR true believing servants

وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنْ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

123.          Wainna ilyasa lamina almursaleena
And certainly, Iliyâs was also one of the Prophets.

إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

124.          Ith qala liqawmihi ala tattaqoona
Recall when he said to his nation: "Don’t you fear (Allâh, subhaana wa ta'aala)?

أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ الْخَالِقِينَ

125.          AtadAAoona baAAlan watatharoona ahsana alkhaliqeena
Do you call upon Ba'l (a name of idol whom they used to worship) and forsake the Best of creators,

وَاللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ

126.          Allaha rabbakum warabba abaikumu alawwaleena
That Allâh WHO is your Râbb as well as the Râbb of your forefathers?"

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ

127.          Fakaththaboohu fainnahum lamuhdaroona
But they denied him (Iliyâs), so now they are surely going to be brought for the punishment,

إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ

128.          Illa AAibada Allahi almukhlaseena
Except those servants of Allâh who were being chosen.

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الْآخِرِينَ

129.          Watarakna AAalayhi fee alakhireena
And WE kept good word about Iliyâs among the subsequent generations,

سَلَامٌ عَلَى إِلْ يَاسِينَ

130.          Salamun AAala il yaseena
Salutation (Salâmun) is to Iliyâs (Ilyâsîn)!"

إِنَّا كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ

131.          Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineena
WE give such reward to those who do the righteous deeds (Muhsinûn).

إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

132.          Innahu min AAibadina almumineena
In fact, he was one of OUR true-believing servants.

وَإِنَّ لُوطًا لَّمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

133.          Wainna lootan lamina almursaleena
And Lout was also from among them who have been sent as Rasools.

إِذْ نَجَّيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ أَجْمَعِينَ

134.          Ith najjaynahu waahlahu ajmaAAeena
Recall when WE liberated him and all his family members,

إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِي الْغَابِرِينَ

135.          Illa AAajoozan fee alghabireena
Except an old woman (his wife) she was among those who remained behind.

ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا الْآخَرِينَ

136.          Thumma dammarna alakhareena
Then (WE) destroyed and crushed the rest of those people

وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم مُّصْبِحِينَ

137.          Wainnakum latamurroona AAalayhim musbiheena
Today you pass through their ruins  

وَبِاللَّيْلِ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

138.          Wabiallayli afala taAAqiloona
Day and night.  Do you not come into senses?  (R) 8

وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

139.          Wainna yoonusa lamina almursaleena
And certainly, Yûnus was also among the Rasools.

إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ

140.          Ith abaqa ila alfulki almashhooni
Recall when he ran towards the fully loaded boat,

فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنْ الْمُدْحَضِينَ

141.          Fasahama fakana mina almudhadeena
Then (he) participated in the drawing (casting of lots) and was defeated in it.

فَالْتَقَمَهُ الْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ

142.          Failtaqamahu alhootu wahuwa muleemun
Finally, a fish swallowed him and he was blameworthy.

فَلَوْلَا أَنَّهُ كَانَ مِنْ الْمُسَبِّحِينَ

143.          Falawla annahu kana mina almusabbiheena
Now if he would not had been of those who glorify (Allâh, subhaana wa ta'aala),

لَلَبِثَ فِي بَطْنِهِ إِلَى يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ

144.          Lalabitha fee batnihi ila yawmi yubAAathoona
Then he would have remained inside the belly of the same fish until the Day of Resurrection.

فَنَبَذْنَاهُ بِالْعَرَاء وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌ

145.          Fanabathnahu bialAAarai wahuwa saqeemun
Eventually, WE throw him on the exposed land in a state of severe weakness

وَأَنبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةً مِّن يَقْطِينٍ

146.          Waanbatna AAalayhi shajaratan min yaqteenin
And grew a shady plant over him.

وَأَرْسَلْنَاهُ إِلَى مِئَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ

147.          Waarsalnahu ila miati alfin aw yazeedoona
After this WE sent him toward a hundred thousand (100,000) or more people,

فَآمَنُوا فَمَتَّعْنَاهُمْ إِلَى حِينٍ

148.          Faamanoo famattaAAnahum ila heenin
They brought Faith and WE kept them alive until the appointed term.

فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ الْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ الْبَنُونَ

149.          Faistaftihim alirabbika albanatu walahumu albanoona
Then just ask from those people: "(Dose it appeal to their hearts that) Are the daughters for your Râbb and the sons for them?"

أَمْ خَلَقْنَا الْمَلَائِكَةَ إِنَاثًا وَهُمْ شَاهِدُونَ

150.          Am khalaqna almalaikata inathan wahum shahidoona
Have WE really made the angels females and they are saying the eye-witnessed thing?

أَلَا إِنَّهُم مِّنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ

151.          Ala innahum min ifkihim layaqooloona
Note it well, in fact it is a fabrication of these people that (they say that)

وَلَدَ اللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَاذِبُونَ

152.          Walada Allahu wainnahum lakathiboona
Allâh has offspring, and in fact, they are liars.

أَصْطَفَى الْبَنَاتِ عَلَى الْبَنِينَ

153.          Astafa albanati AAala albaneena
Has Allâh chosen daughters for HIMSELF rather than sons?

مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ

154.          Ma lakum kayfa tahkumoona
What is wrong with you (people), how do you decide?

أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ

155.          Afala tathakkaroona
Do you not come into (your) senses?

أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَانٌ مُّبِينٌ

156.          Am lakum sultanun mubeenun
Or do you have any clear proof for your these things,

فَأْتُوا بِكِتَابِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

157.          Fatoo bikitabikum in kuntum sadiqeena
Then bring your Book -- if you are truthful.

وَجَعَلُوا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًا وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ الْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ

158.          WajaAAaloo baynahu wabayna aljinnati nasaban walaqad AAalimati aljinnatu innahum lamuhdaroona
They have invented a blood relationship between Allâh and the jinns\angels*, whereas the jinns\angels know it very well that these people are going to be presented as criminals (and they say)
(*Molana Abul A'la Maududi translated it as angels)

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ

159.          Subhana Allahi AAamma yasifoona
Allâh is pure from all that what others attribute to HIM

إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ

160.          Illa AAibada Allahi almukhlaseena
Except HIS true-believing servants. 

فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ

161.           Fainnakum wama taAAbudoona
Therefore, you and your these deities (idols)

مَا أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَاتِنِينَ

162.          Ma antum AAalayhi bifatineena
Cannot turn away anyone from Allâh

إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ الْجَحِيمِ

163.          Illa man huwa sali aljaheemi
Except only those who have been predestined to be burned in the Hell-fire.

وَمَا مِنَّا إِلَّا لَهُ مَقَامٌ مَّعْلُومٌ

164.          Wama minna illa lahu maqamun maAAloomun
And as for ourselves, each one of us has an appointed place

وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الصَّافُّونَ

165.          Wainna lanahnu alssaffoona
And we are servants standing in queues

وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الْمُسَبِّحُونَ

166.          Wainna lanahnu almusabbihoona
And (we are) those who glorify HIM.”

وَإِنْ كَانُوا لَيَقُولُونَ

167.          Wain kanoo layaqooloona
Before these people used to say

لَوْ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكْرًا مِّنْ الْأَوَّلِينَ

168.          Law anna AAindana thikran mina alawwaleena
Would that!  We had that "Ziker" (word, reminder) which was given to the earlier nations.

لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ

169.          Lakunna AAibada Allahi almukhlaseena
Then we would have been the chosen slaves of Allâh.

فَكَفَرُوا بِهِ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ

170.          Fakafaroo bihi fasawfa yaAAlamoona
But (when it came) they rejected it.  Now soon they will come to know (the result of this rejection).

وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا الْمُرْسَلِينَ

171.          Walaqad sabaqat kalimatuna liAAibadina almursaleena
WE had already promised to OUR servants whom WE sent that, 

إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ الْمَنصُورُونَ

172.          Innahum lahumu almansooroona
They will certainly be helped

وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ الْغَالِبُونَ

173.          Wainna jundana lahumu alghaliboona
And OUR army will be victorious.

فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّى حِينٍ

174.          Fatawalla AAanhum hatta heenin
Therefore O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), just leave them on their own for a while

وَأَبْصِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ

175.          Waabsirhum fasawfa yubsiroona
And keep watching, soon they themselves will also see. 

أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ

176.          AfabiAAathabina yastaAAjiloona
Are they rushing for OUR Torment?

فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَاء صَبَاحُ الْمُنذَرِينَ

177.          Faitha nazala bisahatihim fasaa sabahu almunthareena
When it will come down into their courtyards then that day will be very bad for those people who have been warned. 

وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّى حِينٍ

178.          Watawalla AAanhum hatta heenin
Therefore, just leave them for a while

وَأَبْصِرْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ

179.          Waabsir fasawfa yubsiroona
And keep watching, soon they themselves will see.

سُبْحَانَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ الْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ

180.          Subhana rabbika rabbi alAAizzati AAamma yasifoona
Pure is your Râbb, the Possessor of the Honor, from all that what these people are fabricating.

وَسَلَامٌ عَلَى الْمُرْسَلِينَ

181.          Wasalamun AAala almursaleena
And Salutation is on the Rasools,

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

182.          Waalhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena
And all praise is for Allâh Râbb-ul-'Alamîn (Nourisher/Sustainer of the entire world).  (9)

 “Suâd - Sad– (Makki - 38^th Surah)

Total Verses: 88

بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمـَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi
(I) Begin with the Name of Allâh WHO is Most Loving and Most Merciful

ص وَالْقُرْآنِ ذِي الذِّكْرِ

1.                 Suâd waalqurani thee alththikri
Sad (these are prefixes, muqatta’at, only Allâh, subhaana wa ta'aala, knows themeanings), by the Al-Qur'ân full of advises,

بَلِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فِي عِزَّةٍ وَشِقَاقٍ

2.                Bali allatheena kafaroo fee AAizzatin washiqaqin
But these people, who have refused to accept, are involved in absolute arrogance and stubbornness.

كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّن قَرْنٍ فَنَادَوْا وَلَاتَ حِينَ مَنَاصٍ

3.                Kam ahlakna min qablihim min qarnin fanadaw walata heena manasin
How many such nations WE have destroyed before them (and when their time has come), they have cried out, but that time is not a time to be saved.

وَعَجِبُوا أَن جَاءهُم مُّنذِرٌ مِّنْهُمْ وَقَالَ الْكَافِرُونَ هَذَا سَاحِرٌ كَذَّابٌ

4.                WaAAajiboo an jaahum munthirun minhum waqala alkafiroona hatha sahirun kaththabun
It was great surprise for these people that a warner has come from among them.  The deniers started saying: "He is a magician, a great liar.

أَجَعَلَ الْآلِهَةَ إِلَهًا وَاحِدًا إِنَّ هَذَا لَشَيْءٌ عُجَابٌ

5.                AjaAAala alalihata ilahan wahidan inna hatha lashayon AAujabun
Has he made only One Allâh (Ilâh) in place of all the deities (Ilâhan)?  This is very strange thing."

وَانطَلَقَ الْمَلَأُ مِنْهُمْ أَنِ امْشُوا وَاصْبِرُوا عَلَى آلِهَتِكُمْ إِنَّ هَذَا لَشَيْءٌ يُرَادُ

6.                Waintalaqa almalao minhum ani imshoo waisbiroo AAala alihatikum inna hatha lashayon yuradu
And the leaders of the nation went away saying: "Get out and remain faithful in the worship of your deities (Ilâhan).  This is being said for some other reason.

مَا سَمِعْنَا بِهَذَا فِي الْمِلَّةِ الْآخِرَةِ إِنْ هَذَا إِلَّا اخْتِلَاقٌ

7.                Ma samiAAna bihatha fee almillati alakhirati in hatha illa ikhtilaqun
We have not heard this thing from anyone of the most recent nations.  This is nothing but a fabrication 

أَأُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ الذِّكْرُ مِن بَيْنِنَا بَلْ هُمْ فِي شَكٍّ مِّن ذِكْرِي بَلْ لَمَّا يَذُوقُوا عَذَابِ

8.                Aonzila AAalayhi alththikru min baynina bal hum fee shakkin min thikree bal lamma yathooqoo AAathabi
Was he the only person among us to whom the Revelation (Ziker) of Allâh has been sent down?"  The fact is that they are having doubt about OUR Revelation (Ziker), and they are saying all this because they have not tasted MY Torment.

أَمْ عِندَهُمْ خَزَائِنُ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّكَ الْعَزِيزِ الْوَهَّابِ

9.                Am AAindahum khazainu rahmati rabbika alAAazeezi alwahhabi
Do they control the treasures of the Mercy of your Generous and Victorious Râbb?

أَمْ لَهُم مُّلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فَلْيَرْتَقُوا فِي الْأَسْبَابِ

10.            Am lahum mulku alssamawati waalardi wama baynahuma falyartaqoo fee alasbabi
Do they own the skies and the earth and all that is between them?  Well then, they should climb up on the heights of the worldly means! 

جُندٌ مَّا هُنَالِكَ مَهْزُومٌ مِّنَ الْأَحْزَابِ

11.            Jundun ma hunalika mahzoomun mina alahzabi
This is the smallest group among the groups, which is going to be defeated at the same place.

كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَعَادٌ وَفِرْعَوْنُ ذُو الْأَوْتَادِ

12.            Kaththabat qablahum qawmu noohin waAAadun wafirAAawnu thoo alawtadi
Before them the nation of Nûh, and 'Ad, and a man of stakes - Fir'aun, 

وَثَمُودُ وَقَوْمُ لُوطٍ وَأَصْحَابُ الأَيْكَةِ أُوْلَئِكَ الْأَحْزَابُ

13.            Wathamoodu waqawmu lootin waashabu alaykati olaika alahzabu
And Thamûd, and the nation of Lout, and those of Aiykah has denied (their Rasools).  They were the gangs. 

إِن كُلٌّ إِلَّا كَذَّبَ الرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ عِقَابِ

14.             In kullun illa kaththaba alrrusula fahaqqa AAiqabi
Each one of them denied the Rasools and the decision of MY Torment had been implemented on them.  (R) 10 

وَمَا يَنظُرُ هَؤُلَاء إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً مَّا لَهَا مِن فَوَاقٍ

15.             Wama yanthuru haolai illa sayhatan wahidatan ma laha min fawaqin
These people are also waiting for a single blast (Saîhah) after that there will be no other blast. 

وَقَالُوا رَبَّنَا عَجِّل لَّنَا قِطَّنَا قَبْلَ يَوْمِ الْحِسَابِ

16.             Waqaloo rabbana AAajjil lana qittana qabla yawmi alhisabi
And they say: "O our Râbb, give us our share (Qittana) immediately even before the Day of Reckoning." 

اصْبِرْ عَلَى مَا يَقُولُونَ وَاذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَا دَاوُودَ ذَا الْأَيْدِ إِنَّهُ أَوَّابٌ

17.             Isbir AAala ma yaqooloona waothkur AAabdana dawooda tha alaydi innahu awwabun
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), be patient on those things, which they fabricate, and narrate to them the story of OUR servant Dâwoud who was a person of great powers.  He used to turn to Allâh in all matters.

إِنَّا سَخَّرْنَا الْجِبَالَ مَعَهُ يُسَبِّحْنَ بِالْعَشِيِّ وَالْإِشْرَاقِ

18.             Inna sakhkharna aljibala maAAahu yusabbihna bialAAashiyyi waalishraqi
WE had subdued the mountains for him that they used to glorify OUR Praises day and evening with him (Dâwoud). 

وَالطَّيْرَ مَحْشُورَةً كُلٌّ لَّهُ أَوَّابٌ

19.            Waalttayra mahshooratan kullun lahu awwabun
The birds gathered together, all of them used to become attentive to his recitation (Praise). 

وَشَدَدْنَا مُلْكَهُ وَآتَيْنَاهُ الْحِكْمَةَ وَفَصْلَ الْخِطَابِ

20.            Washadadna mulkahu waataynahu alhikmata wafasla alkhitabi
WE had strengthened his kingdom, had given him wisdom (Al-Hikmah) and had given the ability to say decisive things.

وَهَلْ أَتَاكَ نَبَأُ الْخَصْمِ إِذْ تَسَوَّرُوا الْمِحْرَابَ

21.            Wahal ataka nabao alkhasmi ith tasawwaroo almihraba
Then have you received any news of those disputants who entered into his private room (Mihrâb) by climbing over the wall? 

إِذْ دَخَلُوا عَلَى دَاوُودَ فَفَزِعَ مِنْهُمْ قَالُوا لَا تَخَفْ خَصْمَانِ بَغَى بَعْضُنَا عَلَى بَعْضٍ فَاحْكُم بَيْنَنَا بِالْحَقِّ وَلَا تُشْطِطْ وَاهْدِنَا إِلَى سَوَاء الصِّرَاطِ

22.            Ith dakhaloo AAala dawooda fafaziAAa minhum qaloo la takhaf khasmani bagha baAAduna AAala baAAdin faohkum baynana bialhaqqi wala tushtit waihdina ila sawai alssirati
When they reached to Dâwoud then seeing them, he became scared.  They said: "Do not be afraid, we are two groups in litigation one of whom has wronged the other.  You should decide between us with truth, do not do unjust and guide us to the Right Path.

إِنَّ هَذَا أَخِي لَهُ تِسْعٌ وَتِسْعُونَ نَعْجَةً وَلِيَ نَعْجَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ فَقَالَ أَكْفِلْنِيهَا وَعَزَّنِي فِي الْخِطَابِ

23.            Inna hatha akhee lahu tisAAun watisAAoona naAAjatan waliya naAAjatun wahidatun faqala akfilneeha waAAazzanee fee alkhitabi
This is my brother, he has ninety-nine sheep, and I have only one sheep.  He said to me that I should give him this sheep as well and he overpowered me in speech.” 

قَالَ لَقَدْ ظَلَمَكَ بِسُؤَالِ نَعْجَتِكَ إِلَى نِعَاجِهِ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْ الْخُلَطَاء لَيَبْغِي بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَقَلِيلٌ مَّا هُمْ وَظَنَّ دَاوُودُ أَنَّمَا فَتَنَّاهُ فَاسْتَغْفَرَ رَبَّهُ وَخَرَّ رَاكِعًا وَأَنَابَ(Al- Sajjdah).

24.            Qala laqad thalamaka bisuali naAAjatika ila niAAajihi wainna katheeran mina alkhulatai layabghee baAAduhum AAala baAAdin illa allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati waqaleelun ma hum wathanna dawoodu annama fatannahu faistaghfara rabbahu wakharra rakiAAan waanaba
Dâwoud responded: "He has wronged you in demanding your sheep to be added to his sheep, and the fact is that the people who live together often wronged one another, so only those people are saved from it who have Faith and do righteous deeds, and they are very few in numbers."  (While saying this thing)  Dâwoud realized that in fact, WE have tried him, therefore he asked for Forgiveness of his Râbb and he fell down prostate and turned (to Allâh, subhaana wa ta'aala, in repentance). 

فَغَفَرْنَا لَهُ ذَلِكَ وَإِنَّ لَهُ عِندَنَا لَزُلْفَى وَحُسْنَ مَآبٍ

25.             Faghafarna lahu thalika wainna lahu AAindana lazulfa wahusna maabin
Then WE forgave him for his that mistake and surely, he has a place of nearness with US and an excellent end. 

يَا دَاوُودُ إِنَّا جَعَلْنَاكَ خَلِيفَةً فِي الْأَرْضِ فَاحْكُم بَيْنَ النَّاسِ بِالْحَقِّ وَلَا تَتَّبِعِ الْهَوَى فَيُضِلَّكَ عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَضِلُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ بِمَا نَسُوا يَوْمَ الْحِسَابِ

26.            Ya dawoodu inna jaAAalnaka khaleefatan fee alardi faohkum bayna alnnasi bialhaqqi wala tattabiAAi alhawa fayudillaka AAan sabeeli Allahi inna allatheena yadilloona AAan sabeeli Allahi lahum AAathabun shadeedun bima nasoo yawma alhisabi
(WE said to him) O Dâwoûd, WE have appointed you as a caliph (vicegerent) in the earth, so you should rule among the people with justice and do not follow your desires that it will lead you astray from the Path of Allâh.  Those people who go astray from the Path of Allâh certainly there is severe punishment for them that they forgot the Day of Reckoning (Judgment).  (R) 11

وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاء وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا بَاطِلًا ذَلِكَ ظَنُّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنَ النَّارِ

27.            Wama khalaqna alssamaa waalarda wama baynahuma batilan thalika thannu allatheena kafaroo fawaylun lillatheena kafaroo mina alnnari
WE have not created this sky and the earth, and that world which is between them, without any purpose.  

            This is the opinion of those people who have committed infidelity (Kufr), and there is destruction for such infidels (Kafir) from the Fire of Hell. 

أَمْ نَجْعَلُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ كَالْمُفْسِدِينَ فِي الْأَرْضِ أَمْ نَجْعَلُ الْمُتَّقِينَ كَالْفُجَّارِ

28.            Am najAAalu allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati kaalmufsideena fee alardi am najAAalu almuttaqeena kaalfujjari
Should WE treat those people who bring Faith and do righteous deeds equal to those who are the mischief-makers (Mufsidûn) on the earth?  Should WE make the pious (Muttaqûn) like the criminals (Fujjâr)?-- 

كِتَابٌ أَنزَلْنَاهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَارَكٌ لِّيَدَّبَّرُوا آيَاتِهِ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُوْلُوا الْأَلْبَابِ

29.            Kitabun anzalnahu ilayka mubarakun liyaddabbaroo ayatihi waliyatathakkara oloo alalbabi
This is a Book of Great Blessings, which (O Prophet, Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) WE have revealed to you so that the people should ponder over its Verses (Revelation) and those who have commonsense should learn lesson from it.

وَوَهَبْنَا لِدَاوُودَ سُلَيْمَانَ نِعْمَ الْعَبْدُ إِنَّهُ أَوَّابٌ

30.            Wawahabna lidawooda sulaymana niAAma alAAabdu innahu awwabun
And WE gave (a son like) Sulaimân to Dâwoûd, an excellent person, oft returning to his Râbb. 

إِذْ عُرِضَ عَلَيْهِ بِالْعَشِيِّ الصَّافِنَاتُ الْجِيَادُ

31.             Ith AAurida AAalayhi bialAAashiyyi alssafinatu aljiyadu
That occasion is worth mentioning when in the evening well-trained horses were presented before him. 

فَقَالَ إِنِّي أَحْبَبْتُ حُبَّ الْخَيْرِ عَن ذِكْرِ رَبِّي حَتَّى تَوَارَتْ بِالْحِجَابِ

32.             Faqala innee ahbabtu hubba alkhayri AAan thikri rabbee hatta tawarat bialhijabi
And he said; "I have adopted the love of this wealth because of the remembrance of my Râbb".  Until when those horses disappeared from the sight

رُدُّوهَا عَلَيَّ فَطَفِقَ مَسْحًا بِالسُّوقِ وَالْأَعْنَاقِ

33.             Ruddooha AAalayya fatafiqa mashan bialssooqi waalaAAnaqi
Then (he commanded) bring them back to me, then he began to pass his hand over their legs and necks. 

وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا سُلَيْمَانَ وَأَلْقَيْنَا عَلَى كُرْسِيِّهِ جَسَدًا ثُمَّ أَنَابَ

34.             Walaqad fatanna sulaymana waalqayna AAala kursiyyihi jasadan thumma anaba
And (see that) WE also put Sulaimân in test and placed a body (Jasadan) on his throne.  Then he inclined (to Allâh, subhaana wa ta'aala) and

قَالَ رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَهَبْ لِي مُلْكًا لَّا يَنبَغِي لِأَحَدٍ مِّنْ بَعْدِي إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْوَهَّابُ

35.             Qala rabbi ighfir lee wahab lee mulkan la yanbaghee liahadin min baAAdee innaka anta alwahhabu
(He) Said: "O my Râbb, forgive me and grant me that kingdom which should not be given to anyone else after me, no doubt YOU are the real Giver”. 

فَسَخَّرْنَا لَهُ الرِّيحَ تَجْرِي بِأَمْرِهِ رُخَاء حَيْثُ أَصَابَ

36.             Fasakhkharna lahu alrreeha tajree biamrihi rukhaan haythu asaba
Then WE subjected the wind for him, which blew gently by his command whichever direction he wanted, 

وَالشَّيَاطِينَ كُلَّ بَنَّاء وَغَوَّاصٍ

37.             Waalshshayateena kulla bannain waghawwasin
And subjected the Shayâtin (devils), all kinds of builders and deep-sea diver,

وَآخَرِينَ مُقَرَّنِينَ فِي الْأَصْفَادِ

38.             Waakhareena muqarraneena fee alasfadi
And others who were bound in chains.

هَذَا عَطَاؤُنَا فَامْنُنْ أَوْ أَمْسِكْ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ

39.             Hatha AAataona faomnun aw amsik bighayri hisabin
(WE said to him): "This is OUR gift, you have the authority to give whomever you want and withhold from whomever you want there is no accountability." 

وَإِنَّ لَهُ عِندَنَا لَزُلْفَى وَحُسْنَ مَآبٍ

40.             Wainna lahu AAindana lazulfa wahusna maabin
Certainly, he has a place of nearness to US and an excellent outcome.  (R) 12

وَاذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَا أَيُّوبَ إِذْ نَادَى رَبَّهُ أَنِّي مَسَّنِيَ الشَّيْطَانُ بِنُصْبٍ وَعَذَابٍ

41.             Waothkur AAabdana ayyooba ith nada rabbahu annee massaniya alshshaytanu binusbin waAAathabin
And mention about OUR devotee Ayûb, when he called his Râbb: “Shaitân has afflicted me with distress and torment". 

ارْكُضْ بِرِجْلِكَ هَذَا مُغْتَسَلٌ بَارِدٌ وَشَرَابٌ

42.             Orkud birijlika hatha mughtasalun baridun washarabun
(WE commanded him): "Strike your foot on the ground; this is cool water to take shower and to drink".

وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُ أَهْلَهُ وَمِثْلَهُم مَّعَهُمْ رَحْمَةً مِّنَّا وَذِكْرَى لِأُوْلِي الْأَلْبَابِ

43.             Wawahabna lahu ahlahu wamithlahum maAAahum rahmatan minna wathikra liolee alalbabi
WE gave him his family back and as many more with them -- as a Mercy from US, and a lesson for those who have commonsense. 

وَخُذْ بِيَدِكَ ضِغْثًا فَاضْرِب بِّهِ وَلَا تَحْنَثْ إِنَّا وَجَدْنَاهُ صَابِرًا نِعْمَ الْعَبْدُ إِنَّهُ أَوَّابٌ

44.             Wakhuth biyadika dighthan faidrib bihi wala tahnath inna wajadnahu sabiran niAAma alAAabdu innahu awwabun
(And WE said to him) Take a bunch of sticks and strike (your wife) with it; do not break your oath.  WE found him patient, an excellent devotee, oft-returning to his Râbb.

وَاذْكُرْ عِبَادَنَا إبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسْحَقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ أُوْلِي الْأَيْدِي وَالْأَبْصَارِ

45.             Waothkur AAibadana ibraheema waishaqa wayaAAqooba olee alaydee waalabsari
And mention about OUR devotees, Ibrâhim and Ishâque and Ya'qûb.  They had great strength of action and had clear vision. 

إِنَّا أَخْلَصْنَاهُم بِخَالِصَةٍ ذِكْرَى الدَّارِ

46.             Inna akhlasnahum bikhalisatin thikra alddari
WE had chosen them because of a special quality; and it was the remembrance of the home in the Hereafter. 

وَإِنَّهُمْ عِندَنَا لَمِنَ الْمُصْطَفَيْنَ الْأَخْيَارِ

47.             Wainnahum AAindana lamina almustafayna alakhyari
Certainly, to US they are among the chosen ones. 

وَاذْكُرْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ وَالْيَسَعَ وَذَا الْكِفْلِ وَكُلٌّ مِّنْ الْأَخْيَارِ

48.             Waothkur ismaAAeela wailyasaAAa watha alkifli wakullun mina alakhyari
And mention about Ismâ'il and Al­Yasa'â and Dhul-Kifl, they all were from the pious people. 

هَذَا ذِكْرٌ وَإِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ لَحُسْنَ مَآبٍ

49.             Hatha thikrun wainna lilmuttaqeena lahusna maabin
 This was a Remembrance (Ziker).  (Now listen)  There is an excellent place for the pious people (Muttaqûn),

جَنَّاتِ عَدْنٍ مُّفَتَّحَةً لَّهُمُ الْأَبْوَابُ

50.              Jannati AAadnin mufattahatan lahumu alabwabu
Everlasting gardens ('Adn) whose doors will be open for them.

مُتَّكِئِينَ فِيهَا يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِفَاكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ وَشَرَابٍ

51.              Muttakieena feeha yadAAoona feeha bifakihatin katheeratin washarabin
They will be reclining in it; will be asking for plentiful fruits and drinks,

وَعِندَهُمْ قَاصِرَاتُ الطَّرْفِ أَتْرَابٌ

52.              WaAAindahum qasiratu alttarfi atrabun
And they will have bashful wives of their (same) age.  

هَذَا مَا تُوعَدُونَ لِيَوْمِ الْحِسَابِ

53.              Hatha ma tooAAadoona liyawmi alhisabi
These are those things, which are being promised to you for the Day of Judgment.

إِنَّ هَذَا لَرِزْقُنَا مَا لَهُ مِن نَّفَادٍ

54.              Inna hatha larizquna ma lahu min nafadin
This is OUR Provision, which is never going to deplete. 

هَذَا وَإِنَّ لِلطَّاغِينَ لَشَرَّ مَآبٍ

55.              Hatha wainna lilttagheena lasharra maabin
This is the end-result of the pious people.  And there is worst place for the rebellious (Tâghûn),

جَهَنَّمَ يَصْلَوْنَهَا فَبِئْسَ الْمِهَادُ

56.              Jahannama yaslawnaha fabisa almihadu
Hell in which they will be burned, is a worst place to rest. 

هَذَا فَلْيَذُوقُوهُ حَمِيمٌ وَغَسَّاقٌ

57.              Hatha falyathooqoohu hameemun waghassaqun
This is for them, so they should taste boiling water and pus (dirty wound discharges)

وَآخَرُ مِن شَكْلِهِ أَزْوَاجٌ

58.              Waakharu min shaklihi azwajun
And other torments of similar kind.

هَذَا فَوْجٌ مُّقْتَحِمٌ مَّعَكُمْ لَا مَرْحَبًا بِهِمْ إِنَّهُمْ صَالُوا النَّارِ

59.              Hatha fawjun muqtahimun maAAakum la marhaban bihim innahum saloo alnnari
(Seeing their followers coming toward Hell they will say) This huge crowd is coming to you, there is no welcome for them, they are going to be burned in the Hell-Fire”. 

قَالُوا بَلْ أَنتُمْ لَا مَرْحَبًا بِكُمْ أَنتُمْ قَدَّمْتُمُوهُ لَنَا فَبِئْسَ الْقَرَارُ

60.             Qaloo bal antum la marhaban bikum antum qaddamtumoohu lana fabisa lqararu
They will respond to them: "No, but you are being burned, there is no welcome for you.  It is you who have brought this end upon us, what an evil is this place to stay in".

قَالُوا رَبَّنَا مَن قَدَّمَ لَنَا هَذَا فَزِدْهُ عَذَابًا ضِعْفًا فِي النَّارِ

61.             Qaloo rabbana man qaddama lana hatha fazidhu AAathaban diAAfan fee alnnari
Then they will say; "O our Râbb, who arranged this end for us give him double torment of Hell-Fire”. 

وَقَالُوا مَا لَنَا لَا نَرَى رِجَالًا كُنَّا نَعُدُّهُم مِّنَ الْأَشْرَارِ

62.             Waqaloo ma lana la nara rijalan kunna naAAudduhum mina alashrari
And they will say to one another: "Why is that we do not see those people any where whom we considered bad in the world? 

أَتَّخَذْنَاهُمْ سِخْرِيًّا أَمْ زَاغَتْ عَنْهُمُ الْأَبْصَارُ

63.             Attakhathnahum sikhriyyan am zaghat AAanhumu alabsaru
We made mockery of them just for nothing, or are they hiding some where?"

إِنَّ ذَلِكَ لَحَقٌّ تَخَاصُمُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ

64.             Inna thalika lahaqqun takhasumu ahli alnnari
No doubt, this is the Truth; such disputes are going to be among the people of Hell-Fire.  (R) 13 

قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَنَا مُنذِرٌ وَمَا مِنْ إِلَهٍ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْوَاحِدُ الْقَهَّارُ

65.             Qul innama ana munthirun wama min ilahin illa Allahu alwahidu alqahharu
(O Prophet, Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) Tell them: "I am only a warner.  There is no real deity (Ilâh) except Allâh the One, prevailing over everything, 

رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا الْعَزِيزُ الْغَفَّارُ

66.             Rabbu alssamawati waalardi wama baynahuma alAAazeezu alghaffaru
The Owner of the skies and the earth and all that is between them, the All Powerful and Forgiving." 

قُلْ هُوَ نَبَأٌ عَظِيمٌ

67.             Qul huwa nabaon AAatheemun
Tell them: "This is a great news

أَنتُمْ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضُونَ

68.             Antum AAanhu muAAridoona
From which you turn away”. 

مَا كَانَ لِي مِنْ عِلْمٍ بِالْمَلَإِ الْأَعْلَى إِذْ يَخْتَصِمُونَ

69.             Ma kana liya min AAilmin bialmalai alaAAla ith yakhtasimoona
(Tell them) “I had no knowledge of that time when the dispute was going on in the exalted heavens. 

إِن يُوحَى إِلَيَّ إِلَّا أَنَّمَا أَنَا نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ

70.             In yooha ilayya illa annama ana natheerun mubeenun
I am only told these things by revelation because I am a plain warner."

إِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ إِنِّي خَالِقٌ بَشَرًا مِن طِينٍ

71.             Ith qala rabbuka lilmalaikati innee khaliqun basharan min teenin
When your Râbb said to the angels: "I am going to create a man from the clay,

فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِي فَقَعُوا لَهُ سَاجِدِينَ

72.             Faitha sawwaytuhu wanafakhtu feehi min roohee faqaAAoo lahu sajideena
So when I shape him completely and breathe MY spirit in him then you fall down in prostration before him."

فَسَجَدَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ

73.             Fasajada almalaikatu kulluhum ajmaAAoona
Accordingly, all the angels prostrated themselves (before Adam),

إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ اسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنْ الْكَافِرِينَ

74.             Illa ibleesa istakbara wakana mina alkafireena
But Iblîs (Satan) showed self-importance of his greatness and he became one of the infidels (Kafir).

قَالَ يَا إِبْلِيسُ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَن تَسْجُدَ لِمَا خَلَقْتُ بِيَدَيَّ أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ أَمْ كُنتَ مِنَ الْعَالِينَ

75.             Qala ya ibleesu ma manaAAaka an tasjuda lima khalaqtu biyadayya astakbarta am kunta mina alAAaleena
Râbb asked: "O Iblîs, what prevented you from prostrating yourself before him whom I have created with MY Both Hands?  Are you pretending to be great (too proud) or are you one of the exalted ones”? 

قَالَ أَنَا خَيْرٌ مِّنْهُ خَلَقْتَنِي مِن نَّارٍ وَخَلَقْتَهُ مِن طِينٍ

76.             Qala ana khayrun minhu khalaqtanee min narin wakhalaqtahu min teenin
He (Iblîs) said: "I am better than him; YOU have created me from fire and him from clay”. 

قَالَ فَاخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ`

77.             Qala faokhruj minha fainnaka rajeemun
(Allâh, subhaana wa ta'aala) Said: "Well, then get out from here, you are rejected one. 

وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ لَعْنَتِي إِلَى يَوْمِ الدِّينِ

78.             Wainna AAalayka laAAnatee ila yawmi alddeeni
And MY Curse is on you till the Day of Recompense." 

قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِي إِلَى يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ

79.             Qala rabbi faanthirnee ila yawmi yubAAathoona
He said: "O my Râbb, if so then give me respite till that Day when these people will be raised again." 

قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ الْمُنظَرِينَ

80.             Qala fainnaka mina almunthareena
(Allâh, subhaana wa ta'aala) Said: "Well, you are granted the respite 

إِلَى يَوْمِ الْوَقْتِ الْمَعْلُومِ

81.             Ila yawmi alwaqti almaAAloomi
Till that Day of which I know the exact time."

قَالَ فَبِعِزَّتِكَ لَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ

82.             Qala fabiAAizzatika laoghwiyannahum ajmaAAeena
He said: "By YOUR Honor, I will mislead them all,

إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ الْمُخْلَصِينَ

83.             Illa AAibadaka minhumu almukhlaseena
Except YOUR those devotees whom YOU have chosen."

قَالَ فَالْحَقُّ وَالْحَقَّ أَقُولُ

84.             Qala faalhaqqu waalhaqqa aqoolu
(Allâh, subhaana wa ta'aala) Said: "Then the Truth is, and I always speak Truth,

لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنكَ وَمِمَّن تَبِعَكَ مِنْهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ

85.             Laamlaanna jahannama minka wamimman tabiAAaka minhum ajmaAAeena
That I shall fill Hell with you (Iblîs) and all those people who will follow you from among the mankind." 

قُلْ مَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ وَمَا أَنَا مِنَ الْمُتَكَلِّفِينَ

86.             Qul ma asalukum AAalayhi min ajrin wama ana mina almutakallifeena
(O Prophet, Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) Tell them: "I do not ask any reward from you on this advice, and nor I am from the impersonators (Mutakallifûn).

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَالَمِينَ

87.             In huwa illa thikrun lilAAalameena
This is an advice for the people of the entire world ('Alamîn). 

وَلَتَعْلَمُنَّ نَبَأَهُ بَعْدَ حِينٍ

88.             WalataAAlamunna nabaahu baAAda heenin
And it will be a while that you will know yourself about it.”  (R) 14

“Az-Zumar - The Throngs/ The Troops - (Makki - 39^th Surah)

Total Verses: 75

بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمـَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi
(I) Begin with the Name of Allâh WHO is Most Loving and Most Merciful

تَنزِيلُ الْكِتَابِ مِنَ اللَّهِ الْعَزِيزِ الْحَكِيمِ

1.               Tanzeelu alkitabi mina Allahi alAAazeezi alhakeemi
The revelation of this Book is from Allâh the Omnipotent and All Wise.

إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَا إِلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ فَاعْبُدِ اللَّهَ مُخْلِصًا لَّهُ الدِّينَ

2.                Inna anzalna ilayka alkitaba bialhaqqi faoAAbudi Allaha mukhlisan lahu alddeena
(O Prophet, Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) WE have revealed this Book to you in all truth; therefore, you should only serve Allâh by purifying Deen (Islamic Way of Life) for HIM.

أَلَا لِلَّهِ الدِّينُ الْخَالِصُ وَالَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِهِ أَوْلِيَاء مَا نَعْبُدُهُمْ إِلَّا لِيُقَرِّبُونَا إِلَى اللَّهِ زُلْفَى إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَحْكُمُ بَيْنَهُمْ فِي مَا هُمْ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِي مَنْ هُوَ كَاذِبٌ كَفَّارٌ

3.                Ala lillahi alddeenu alkhalisu waallatheena ittakhathoo min doonihi awliyaa ma naAAbuduhum illa liyuqarriboona ila Allahi zulfa inna Allaha yahkumu baynahum fee ma hum feehi yakhtalifoona inna Allaha la yahdee man huwa kathibun kaffarun
Be aware; the pure Deen (right way of life) is the right of Allâh.  As for those people who have taken other patrons (Auliyâ') except HIM (and they try to justify their act by saying): "We only worship them so that they may bring us closer to Allâh” Allâh will surely judge between them about all those things, which they are opposing.  Allâh never guides any such person who is liar and denier of Truth. 

لَوْ أَرَادَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَتَّخِذَ وَلَدًا لَّاصْطَفَى مِمَّا يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَاء سُبْحَانَهُ هُوَ اللَّهُ الْوَاحِدُ الْقَهَّارُ

4.                Law arada Allahu an yattakhitha waladan laistafa mimma yakhluqu ma yashao subhanahu huwa Allahu alwahidu alqahharu
If Allâh wanted to take anyone as a son then HE could have chosen whomsoever HE pleased out of HIS creation, Pure is HE from it (that anyone should be HIS son), HE is Allâh Alone and prevailing over everything

خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ بِالْحَقِّ يُكَوِّرُ اللَّيْلَ عَلَى النَّهَارِ وَيُكَوِّرُ النَّهَارَ عَلَى اللَّيْلِ وَسَخَّرَ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ كُلٌّ يَجْرِي لِأَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى أَلَا هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْغَفَّارُ

5.                Khalaqa alssamawati waalarda bialhaqqi yukawwiru allayla AAala alnnahari wayukawwiru alnnahara AAala allayli wasakhkhara alshshamsa waalqamara kullun yajree liajalin musamman ala huwa alAAazeezu alghaffaru
HE has created the skies and the earth with truth.  HE wraps the night over the day and the day over the night.  HE has subjected the sun and the moon in such a way that each one is moving until the appointed time.  Remember it well; HE is All Powerful and Forgiving. 

خَلَقَكُم مِّن نَّفْسٍ وَاحِدَةٍ ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا وَأَنزَلَ لَكُم مِّنْ الْأَنْعَامِ ثَمَانِيَةَ أَزْوَاجٍ يَخْلُقُكُمْ فِي بُطُونِ أُمَّهَاتِكُمْ خَلْقًا مِن بَعْدِ خَلْقٍ فِي ظُلُمَاتٍ ثَلَاثٍ ذَلِكُمُ اللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَأَنَّى تُصْرَفُونَ

6.                Khalaqakum min nafsin wahidatin thumma jaAAala minha zawjaha waanzala lakum mina alanAAami thamaniyata azwajin yakhluqukum fee butooni ommahatikum khalqan min baAAdi khalqin fee thulumatin thalathin thalikumu Allahu rabbukum lahu almulku la ilaha illa huwa faanna tusrafoona
HE created you from a single soul (Adam), then HE is the One WHO made his mate (Hawwa' Eve) from his soul.  And HE created for you eight male/female from the cattle (sheep, goat, oxen, and camel).  HE keeps giving you shape after shape in three-three shields of darkness in the wombs of your mothers.  The same Allâh (WHOSE work is these) is your Râbb, the Kingdom is HIS there is no worthy of devotion except HIM (Lâ ilâha illa Huwa), then from where are you being turned away? 

إِن تَكْفُرُوا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ غَنِيٌّ عَنكُمْ وَلَا يَرْضَى لِعِبَادِهِ الْكُفْرَ وَإِن تَشْكُرُوا يَرْضَهُ لَكُمْ وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَى ثُمَّ إِلَى رَبِّكُم مَّرْجِعُكُمْ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ

7.                In takfuroo fainna Allaha ghaniyyun AAankum wala yarda liAAibadihi alkufra wain tashkuroo yardahu lakum wala taziru waziratun wizra okhra thumma ila rabbikum marjiAAukum fayunabbiokum bima kuntum taAAmaloona innahu AAaleemun bithati alssudoori
If you commit infidelity (Kufr) then Allâh does not need you, but HE does not like the infidelity (Kufr) from HIS servants, and if you are grateful then HE likes this for you.  No bearer of the burden will bear the burden of another.  Finally, you all have to return to your Râbb, then HE will tell you that what you have been doing, HE even knows the secrets of the hearts.

وَإِذَا مَسَّ الْإِنسَانَ ضُرٌّ دَعَا رَبَّهُ مُنِيبًا إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ إِذَا خَوَّلَهُ نِعْمَةً مِّنْهُ نَسِيَ مَا كَانَ يَدْعُو إِلَيْهِ مِن قَبْلُ وَجَعَلَ لِلَّهِ أَندَادًا لِّيُضِلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِ قُلْ تَمَتَّعْ بِكُفْرِكَ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّارِ

8.         Waitha massa alinsana durrun daAAa rabbahu muneeban ilayhi thumma itha khawwalahu niAAmatan minhu nasiya ma kana yadAAoo ilayhi min qablu wajaAAala lillahi andadan liyudilla AAan sabeelihi qul tamattaAA bikufrika qaleelan innaka min ashabi alnnari
When an adversity comes to mankind then turning to his/her Râbb, he/she calls to HIM.  But when his/her Râbb blesses him/her with HIS favor then he/she forgets that adversity for which he/she was calling HIM and associates others as companions of Allâh -- so as to mislead from HIS Path.  (O Prophet, Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) Tell them: "Enjoy your infidelity (Kufr) for a little while; you are certainly going to go to Hell"

أَمَّنْ هُوَ قَانِتٌ آنَاء اللَّيْلِ سَاجِدًا وَقَائِمًا يَحْذَرُ الْآخِرَةَ وَيَرْجُو رَحْمَةَ رَبِّهِ قُلْ هَلْ يَسْتَوِي الَّذِينَ يَعْلَمُونَ وَالَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ إِنَّمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ أُوْلُوا الْأَلْبَابِ

9.                Amman huwa qanitun anaa allayli sajidan waqaiman yahtharu alakhirata wayarjoo rahmata rabbihi qul hal yastawee allatheena yaAAlamoona waallatheena la yaAAlamoona innama yatathakkaru oloo alalbabi
(Is the behavior of this person better or the one) Who is an obedient (to Allâh, subhaana wa ta'aala), stands and prostrates during the hours of night, fears the Hereafter and have expectation from the Mercy of his/her Râbb?  Ask them: "Can those who know and those who do not know ever be equal?"  Only those who have commonsense embrace the advice.  (R) 15 

قُلْ يَا عِبَادِ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا رَبَّكُمْ لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا فِي هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةٌ وَأَرْضُ اللَّهِ وَاسِعَةٌ إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى الصَّابِرُونَ أَجْرَهُم بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ

10.            Qul ya AAibadi allatheena amanoo ittaqoo rabbakum lillatheena ahsanoo fee hathihi alddunya hasanatun waardu Allahi wasiAAatun innama yuwaffa alssabiroona ajrahum bighayri hisabin
(O Prophet, Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) Say: "O MY devotees who have brought Faith, fear your Râbb.  There is prosperity for those people who have adopted the righteous path in this world.  And the Land of Allâh is vast; those who remained patient will be rewarded without any measures." 

قُلْ إِنِّي أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَعْبُدَ اللَّهَ مُخْلِصًا لَّهُ الدِّينَ

11.             Qul innee omirtu an aAAbuda Allaha mukhlisan lahu alddeena Waomirtu lian akoona awwala almuslimeena
(O Prophet, Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) Tell them, “I have been commanded to serve Allâh by purely devoting Deen for HIM,

وَأُمِرْتُ لِأَنْ أَكُونَ أَوَّلَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ

12.             Waomirtu lian akoona awwala almuslimeena
And I have been commanded that first of all I myself should become Muslim."

قُلْ إِنِّي أَخَافُ إِنْ عَصَيْتُ رَبِّي عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ

13.             Qul innee akhafu in AAasaytu rabbee AAathaba yawmin AAatheemin
Say: "If I disobey my Râbb then I have fear of the torment of a great Day."

قُلِ اللَّهَ أَعْبُدُ مُخْلِصًا لَّهُ دِينِي

14.             Quli Allaha aAAbudu mukhlisan lahu deenee
Say:  “I shall only serve Allâh Alone by devoting my Deen (the way of life) purely for Allâh 

فَاعْبُدُوا مَا شِئْتُم مِّن دُونِهِ قُلْ إِنَّ الْخَاسِرِينَ الَّذِينَ خَسِرُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ وَأَهْلِيهِمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَلَا ذَلِكَ هُوَ الْخُسْرَانُ الْمُبِينُ

15.             FaoAAbudoo ma shitum min doonihi qul inna alkhasireena allatheena khasiroo anfusahum waahleehim yawma alqiyamati ala thalika huwa alkhusranu almubeenu
Except HIM whomsoever you desire to worship keep worshiping.  Say; "The real losers are those who put themselves and their families in lose on the Day of Resurrection, listen it carefully; this is a clear ruin (total loss)".

لَهُم مِّن فَوْقِهِمْ ظُلَلٌ مِّنَ النَّارِ وَمِن تَحْتِهِمْ ظُلَلٌ ذَلِكَ يُخَوِّفُ اللَّهُ بِهِ عِبَادَهُ يَا عِبَادِ فَاتَّقُونِ

16.             Lahum min fawqihim thulalun mina alnnari wamin tahtihim thulalun thalika yukhawwifu Allahu bihi AAibadahu ya AAibadi faittaqooni
There will be canopies of fire on them from above and also from underneath.  This is that end-result with which Allâh scares HIS servants, so O MY devotees avoid MY Anger." 

وَالَّذِينَ اجْتَنَبُوا الطَّاغُوتَ أَن يَعْبُدُوهَا وَأَنَابُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ لَهُمُ الْبُشْرَى فَبَشِّرْ عِبَادِ

17.             Waallatheena ijtanaboo alttaghoota an yaAAbudooha waanaboo ila Allahi lahumu albushra fabashshir AAibadi
Contrary to this, there is good news for those people who avoided worshiping falsehood (At-Tâghût) and turned to Allâh.  Therefore (O Prophet, Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) give good news to MY those devotees, 

الَّذِينَ يَسْتَمِعُونَ الْقَوْلَ فَيَتَّبِعُونَ أَحْسَنَهُ أُوْلَئِكَ الَّذِينَ هَدَاهُمُ اللَّهُ وَأُوْلَئِكَ هُمْ أُوْلُوا الْأَلْبَابِ

18.             Allatheena yastamiAAoona alqawla fayattabiAAoona ahsanahu olaika allatheena hadahumu Allahu waolaika hum oloo alalbabi
Who attentively listen to the word and follow the best of it.  These are those people whom Allâh has given guidance and these are the intellectuals.

أَفَمَنْ حَقَّ عَلَيْهِ كَلِمَةُ الْعَذَابِ أَفَأَنتَ تُنقِذُ مَن فِي النَّارِ

19.             Afaman haqqa AAalayhi kalimatu alAAathabi afaanta tunqithu man fee alnnari
(O Prophet, Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) Who can save that person -- against whom the decision of punishment has been ordained?  Can you save him/her who has fallen in the Fire?

لَكِنِ الَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْا رَبَّهُمْ لَهُمْ غُرَفٌ مِّن فَوْقِهَا غُرَفٌ مَّبْنِيَّةٌ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ لَا يُخْلِفُ اللَّهُ الْمِيعَادَ

20.             Lakini allatheena ittaqaw rabbahum lahum ghurafun min fawqiha ghurafun mabniyyatun tajree min tahtiha alanharu waAAda Allahi la yukhlifu Allahu almeeAAada
Whereas those people who feared their Râbb for them there are high rising buildings, with a floor on a floor, underneath which canals will be flowing.  This is a Promise of Allâh; Allâh never goes against HIS Promise. 

أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ أَنزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَاء مَاء فَسَلَكَهُ يَنَابِيعَ فِي الْأَرْضِ ثُمَّ يُخْرِجُ بِهِ زَرْعًا مُّخْتَلِفًا أَلْوَانُهُ ثُمَّ يَهِيجُ فَتَرَاهُ مُصْفَرًّا ثُمَّ يَجْعَلُهُ حُطَامًا إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَذِكْرَى لِأُوْلِي الْأَلْبَابِ

21.             Alam tara anna Allaha anzala mina alssamai maan fasalakahu yanabeeAAa fee alardi thumma yukhriju bihi zarAAan mukhtalifan alwanuhu thumma yaheeju fatarahu musfarran thumma yajAAaluhu hutaman inna fee thalika lathikra liolee alalbabi
Don’t you see that Allâh sent down water from the sky, then made it to flow in the earth in form of springs and fountains and rivers, then HE brings out all types of produces with this water having different kinds, then those crops dry up after ripen, then you see that they turned yellow, then finally Allâh disintegrate them to ashes.  In fact, there is a lesson in it for those people who have commonsense.  (R) 16

أَفَمَن شَرَحَ اللَّهُ صَدْرَهُ لِلْإِسْلَامِ فَهُوَ عَلَى نُورٍ مِّن رَّبِّهِ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلْقَاسِيَةِ قُلُوبُهُم مِّن ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ أُوْلَئِكَ فِي ضَلَالٍ مُبِينٍ

22.             Afaman sharaha Allahu sadrahu lilislami fahuwa AAala noorin min rabbihi fawaylun lilqasiyati quloobuhum min thikri Allahi olaika fee dalalin mubeenin
Now -- is that person whose heart Allâh has opened to Islâm and he/she is moving on the light from his/her Râbb (could be like that person who has not taken any lesson from these things?).  There is destruction for those people whose hearts became more hardened from the advice of Allâh.  They are clearly in blunder.

اللَّهُ نَزَّلَ أَحْسَنَ الْحَدِيثِ كِتَابًا مُّتَشَابِهًا مَّثَانِيَ تَقْشَعِرُّ مِنْهُ جُلُودُ الَّذِينَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُمْ ثُمَّ تَلِينُ جُلُودُهُمْ وَقُلُوبُهُمْ إِلَى ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ ذَلِكَ هُدَى اللَّهِ يَهْدِي بِهِ مَنْ يَشَاء وَمَن يُضْلِلْ اللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُ مِنْ هَادٍ

23.             Allahu nazzala ahsana alhadeethi kitaban mutashabihan mathaniya taqshaAAirru minhu juloodu allatheena yakhshawna rabbahum thumma taleenu julooduhum waquloobuhum ila thikri Allahi thalika huda Allahi yahdee bihi man yashao waman yudlili Allahu fama lahu min hadin
Allâh has revealed an excellent Conversation (Word), such a Book whose all parts are identical and in which the topics have been often repeated.  Those who fear their Râbb when they listen to it -- their skins shiver with awe, and then their bodies and their heart become soften and turn to the remembrance of Allâh.  This is the guidance of Allâh with it HE brings to the straight path whomever HE Wants.  And whom Allâh does not give Guidance then there is no guide for him/her. 

أَفَمَن يَتَّقِي بِوَجْهِهِ سُوءَ الْعَذَابِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَقِيلَ لِلظَّالِمِينَ ذُوقُوا مَا كُنتُمْ تَكْسِبُونَ

24.             Afaman yattaqee biwajhihi sooa alAAathabi yawma alqiyamati waqeela lilththalimeena thooqoo ma kuntum taksiboona
Now -- how can you imagine the bafflement of that person who will receive severe punishment on his/her face on the Day of Judgment?  It will be said to such cruel (Zâlimûn) now taste the reward of that earning which you had been accomplishing. 

كَذَّبَ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَأَتَاهُمْ الْعَذَابُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

25.             Kaththaba allatheena min qablihim faatahumu alAAathabu min haythu la yashAAuroona
Before them, many people have denied in the same way.  Eventually a torment came on them from such a direction of which they could not even perceive. 

فَأَذَاقَهُمُ اللَّهُ الْخِزْيَ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَلَعَذَابُ الْآخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ

26.             Faathaqahumu Allahu alkhizya fee alhayati alddunya walaAAathabu alakhirati akbaru law kanoo yaAAlamoona
Then Allâh made them to taste the disgrace in this worldly life, and the punishment of the Hereafter is more severe than this, would that!  These people knew.

وَلَقَدْ ضَرَبْنَا لِلنَّاسِ فِي هَذَا الْقُرْآنِ مِن كُلِّ مَثَلٍ لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ

27.             Walaqad darabna lilnnasi fee hatha alqurani min kulli mathalin laAAallahum yatathakkaroona
WE have given all types of examples to the mankind in this Al-Qur'ân -- so that they may come to senses. 

قُرآنًا عَرَبِيًّا غَيْرَ ذِي عِوَجٍ لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ

28.             Quranan AAarabiyyan ghayra thee AAiwajin laAAallahum yattaqoona
Such Al-Qur'ân that is in Arabic Language, in which there is no crookedness, so that they may be saved from the bad result.

ضَرَبَ اللَّهُ مَثَلًا رَّجُلًا فِيهِ شُرَكَاء مُتَشَاكِسُونَ وَرَجُلًا سَلَمًا لِّرَجُلٍ هَلْ يَسْتَوِيَانِ مَثَلًا الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

29.             Daraba Allahu mathalan rajulan feehi shurakao mutashakisoona warajulan salaman lirajulin hal yastawiyani mathalan alhamdu lillahi bal aktharuhum la yaAAlamoona
Allâh gives an example.  There is a person who is shared by many bad tempered masters who drag him towards themselves and (there is) another person who is completely salve of only one master.  Can these two be equal in comparison?--Thanks to Allâh but most of the people are in ignorance. 

إِنَّكَ مَيِّتٌ وَإِنَّهُم مَّيِّتُونَ

30.             Innaka mayyitun wainnahum mayyitoona
You (O Prophet, Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) have to die and they also have to die. 

ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عِندَ رَبِّكُمْ تَخْتَصِمُونَ

31.             Thumma innakum yawma alqiyamati AAinda rabbikum takhtasimoona
Ultimately you all will present your cases in front of your Râbb on the Day of Judgment.  (R) 17
