Chapter 10

Total Verses: 75

بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمـَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi

(I) Begin with the Name of Allâh WHO is Most Loving and Most Merciful

وَاعْلَمُواْ أَنَّمَا غَنِمْتُم مِّن شَيْءٍ فَأَنَّ لِلّهِ خُمُسَهُ وَلِلرَّسُولِ وَلِذِي الْقُرْبَى وَالْيَتَامَى وَالْمَسَاكِينِ وَابْنِ السَّبِيلِ إِن كُنتُمْ آمَنتُمْ بِاللّهِ وَمَا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَى عَبْدِنَا يَوْمَ الْفُرْقَانِ يَوْمَ الْتَقَى الْجَمْعَانِ وَاللّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

41.            WaiAAlamoo annama ghanimtum min shayin faanna lillahi khumusahu walilrrasooli walithee alqurba waalyatama waalmasakeeni waibni alssabeeli in kuntum amantum biAllahi wama anzalna AAala AAabdina yawma alfurqani yawma iltaqa aljamAAani waAllahu AAala kulli shayin qadeerun
And you should know that whatever war-booty you have gotten -- 1/5^th one-fifth of it is for Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and relatives and orphans and needy (Al-Masâkîn) and the wayfarers.  If you have brought Faith in Allâh and in that thing which WE sent down to OUR Servant (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) -- on the Day of decision, the Day when the two forces met in combat (the battle of Badr -- then pay this share happily).  Allâh has power over everything.

إِذْ أَنتُم بِالْعُدْوَةِ الدُّنْيَا وَهُم بِالْعُدْوَةِ الْقُصْوَى وَالرَّكْبُ أَسْفَلَ مِنكُمْ وَلَوْ تَوَاعَدتَّمْ لاَخْتَلَفْتُمْ فِي الْمِيعَادِ وَلَـكِن لِّيَقْضِيَ اللّهُ أَمْراً كَانَ مَفْعُولاً لِّيَهْلِكَ مَنْ هَلَكَ عَن بَيِّنَةٍ وَيَحْيَى مَنْ حَيَّ عَن بَيِّنَةٍ وَإِنَّ اللّهَ لَسَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ

42.            Ith antum bialAAudwati alddunya wahum bialAAudwati alquswa waalrrakbu asfala minkum walaw tawaAAadtum laikhtalaftum fee almeeAAadi walakin liyaqdiya Allahu amran kana mafAAoolan liyahlika man halaka AAan bayyinatin wayahya man hayya AAan bayyinatin wainna Allaha lasameeAAun AAaleemun
Remember that time when you were on this side of the valley and they were en-camped on the other side and the caravan was below you (towards the coast).  If you already had made a mutual agreement to fight then you would surely have escaped from it, but whatever happened it was for the reason that whatever Allâh had decided, (HE should) cause it to happen, so that whoever has to be killed should be killed with clear sign and whoever has to live should live with clear sign, surely Allâh is All-Hearer and All-Knower. 

إِذْ يُرِيكَهُمُ اللّهُ فِي مَنَامِكَ قَلِيلاً وَلَوْ أَرَاكَهُمْ كَثِيرًا لَّفَشِلْتُمْ وَلَتَنَازَعْتُمْ فِي الأَمْرِ وَلَـكِنَّ اللّهَ سَلَّمَ إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ

43.            Ith yureekahumu Allahu fee manamika qaleelan walaw arakahum katheeran lafashiltum walatanazaAAtum fee alamri walakinna Allaha sallama innahu AAaleemun bithati alssudoori
And recall that time when O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), Allâh was showing them smaller in number in your dream.  If HE ever had shown you their larger number then certainly you people would have lost courage and would have begun to disputed about the battle, but Allâh saved you from it, certainly HE Knows the secrets of the hearts.

وَإِذْ يُرِيكُمُوهُمْ إِذِ الْتَقَيْتُمْ فِي أَعْيُنِكُمْ قَلِيلاً وَيُقَلِّلُكُمْ فِي أَعْيُنِهِمْ لِيَقْضِيَ اللّهُ أَمْرًا كَانَ مَفْعُولاً وَإِلَى اللّهِ تُرْجَعُ الأمُورُ

44.            Waith yureekumoohum ithi iltaqaytum fee aAAyunikum qaleelan wayuqallilukum fee aAAyunihim liyaqdiya Allahu amran kana mafAAoolan waila Allahi turjaAAu alomooru
And recall the time of battle when Allâh showed you people as smaller in number to them and in their sights presented you as smaller in number, so that whatever had to happen Allâh should cause it to happen, and however all the matters turn to Allâh (for decision). (R) 1

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ إِذَا لَقِيتُمْ فِئَةً فَاثْبُتُواْ وَاذْكُرُواْ اللّهَ كَثِيرًا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلَحُونَ

45.            Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo itha laqeetum fiatan faothbutoo waothkuroo Allaha katheeran laAAallakum tuflihoona
O people who have brought Faith, when you encounter with any group then be steadfast and remember Allâh in abundance, it is anticipated that you will attain victory.

وَأَطِيعُواْ اللّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَلاَ تَنَازَعُواْ فَتَفْشَلُواْ وَتَذْهَبَ رِيحُكُمْ وَاصْبِرُواْ إِنَّ اللّهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ

46.            WaateeAAoo Allaha warasoolahu wala tanazaAAoo fatafshaloo watathhaba reehukum waisbiroo inna Allaha maAAa alssabireena
And obey Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and do not mutually dispute among yourselves otherwise weakness will come into you and you will become insignificant.  Be patient, surely Allâh is with those who are patient (As-Sâbirin).

وَلاَ تَكُونُواْ كَالَّذِينَ خَرَجُواْ مِن دِيَارِهِم بَطَرًا وَرِئَاء النَّاسِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ اللّهِ وَاللّهُ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ مُحِيطٌ

47.            Wala takoonoo kaallatheena kharajoo min diyarihim bataran wariaa alnnasi wayasuddoona AAan sabeeli Allahi waAllahu bima yaAAmaloona muheetun
Do not adopt the ways of those people who came-out of their homes boasting and showing their luster (pride) to the people and whose conduct is to stop (the people) from the Path of Allâh whatever they are doing that is not away from the grip of Allâh.

وَإِذْ زَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَعْمَالَهُمْ وَقَالَ لاَ غَالِبَ لَكُمُ الْيَوْمَ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَإِنِّي جَارٌ لَّكُمْ فَلَمَّا تَرَاءتِ الْفِئَتَانِ نَكَصَ عَلَى عَقِبَيْهِ وَقَالَ إِنِّي بَرِيءٌ مِّنكُمْ إِنِّي أَرَى مَا لاَ تَرَوْنَ إِنِّيَ أَخَافُ اللّهَ وَاللّهُ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ

48.            Waith zayyana lahumu alshshaytanu aAAmalahum waqala la ghaliba lakumu alyawma mina alnnasi wainnee jarun lakum falamma taraati alfiatani nakasa AAala AAaqibayhi waqala innee bareeon minkum innee ara ma la tarawna innee akhafu Allaha waAllahu shadeedu alAAiqabi
Just think about that time when Satan had presented their actions as delightful in their sights and said to them that today no one can overcome you and that I am with you.  But when the two groups encountered each other then he (Satan) turns on his heels and begun to say that I have nothing to do with you, I am seeing that what you people do not see -- I am scared of Allâh and Allâh is Severe in punishment. (R) 2

إِذْ يَقُولُ الْمُنَافِقُونَ وَالَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ غَرَّ هَـؤُلاء دِينُهُمْ وَمَن يَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللّهِ فَإِنَّ اللّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ

49.            Ith yaqoolu almunafiqoona waallatheena fee quloobihim maradun gharra haolai deenuhum waman yatawakkal AAala Allahi fainna Allaha AAazeezun hakeemun
When the hypocrites and all those people who have disease in their hearts, were saying that their Deen has made them crazy.  Whereas if anyone trusts in Allâh then surely Allâh is Omnipotent and All Wise. 

وَلَوْ تَرَى إِذْ يَتَوَفَّى الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ الْمَلآئِكَةُ يَضْرِبُونَ وُجُوهَهُمْ وَأَدْبَارَهُمْ وَذُوقُواْ عَذَابَ الْحَرِيقِ

50.            Walaw tara ith yatawaffa allatheena kafaroo almalaikatu yadriboona wujoohahum waadbarahum wathooqoo AAathaba alhareeqi
Would that you could see that situation when the angels were seizing the souls of the slain infidels (Kafir)!  They were striking on their faces and their backs and were saying: "Now suffer the punishment of burning, 

ذَلِكَ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَأَنَّ اللّهَ لَيْسَ بِظَلاَّمٍ لِّلْعَبِيدِ

51.            Thalika bima qaddamat aydeekum waanna Allaha laysa bithallamin lilAAabeedi
It is the reward that your own hands had delivered in advance; otherwise Allâh is not unjust to HIS servants." 

كَدَأْبِ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ وَالَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ كَفَرُواْ بِآيَاتِ اللّهِ فَأَخَذَهُمُ اللّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ إِنَّ اللّهَ قَوِيٌّ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ

52.            Kadabi ali firAAawna waallatheena min qablihim kafaroo biayati Allahi faakhathahumu Allahu bithunoobihim inna Allaha qawiyyun shadeedu alAAiqabi
This happened to them just like -- it had been happening to the people of Fir'aun and other people before them that they refuse to accept the Revelation (Ayât) of Allâh and Allâh seized them for their sins.  Allâh has the Power and is Severe in punishment.

ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللّهَ لَمْ يَكُ مُغَيِّرًا نِّعْمَةً أَنْعَمَهَا عَلَى قَوْمٍ حَتَّى يُغَيِّرُواْ مَا بِأَنفُسِهِمْ وَأَنَّ اللّهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ

53.            Thalika bianna Allaha lam yaku mughayyiran niAAmatan anAAamaha AAala qawmin hatta yughayyiroo ma bianfusihim waanna Allaha sameeAAun AAaleemun
It happened according to the principle of Allâh that HE does not change any blessing which HE has bestowed on any nation until that nation itself does not change its own way of action.  Allâh is All-Hearer and All-Knower.

كَدَأْبِ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ وَالَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ كَذَّبُواْ بآيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَهْلَكْنَاهُم بِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَأَغْرَقْنَا آلَ فِرْعَونَ وَكُلٌّ كَانُواْ ظَالِمِينَ

54.            Kadabi ali firAAawna waallatheena min qablihim kaththaboo biayati rabbihim faahlaknahum bithunoobihim waaghraqna ala firAAawna wakullun kanoo thalimeena
Whatever happened with the people of Fir’aun and the nations before them that was according to the principle.  They denied the Revelation (Ayât) of their Râbb then WE destroyed them for their sins and drowned the people of Fir'aun.  They all were cruel (Zâlimûn).

إِنَّ شَرَّ الدَّوَابِّ عِندَ اللّهِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ فَهُمْ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ

55.            Inna sharra alddawabbi AAinda Allahi allatheena kafaroo fahum la yuminoona
Certainly in the Sight of Allâh among the moving creatures on the earth the worst people are those who have denied to accept the Truth

الَّذِينَ عَاهَدتَّ مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ يَنقُضُونَ عَهْدَهُمْ فِي كُلِّ مَرَّةٍ وَهُمْ لاَ يَتَّقُونَ

56.            Allatheena AAahadta minhum thumma yanqudoona AAahdahum fee kulli marratin wahum la yattaqoona
Then they are not ready to accept it at any cost.  (Especially) Those people among them with whom you made an agreement then at every occasion they break it and do not fear Allâh at all.

فَإِمَّا تَثْقَفَنَّهُمْ فِي الْحَرْبِ فَشَرِّدْ بِهِم مَّنْ خَلْفَهُمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ

57.            Faimma tathqafannahum fee alharbi fasharrid bihim man khalfahum laAAallahum yaththakkaroona
Therefore if you encounter them in battle, punish them in such a way that after them other such people who adopt such behavior they should lose their senses.  It is hoped that they will learn lesson from the end-result of the trustless people.

وَإِمَّا تَخَافَنَّ مِن قَوْمٍ خِيَانَةً فَانبِذْ إِلَيْهِمْ عَلَى سَوَاء إِنَّ اللّهَ لاَ يُحِبُّ الخَائِنِينَ

58.            Waimma takhafanna min qawmin khiyanatan fainbith ilayhim AAala sawain inna Allaha la yuhibbu alkhaineena
And if you ever anticipate the treachery from any nation then throw their treaty openly before them; certainly Allâh does not like the treacherous. (R) 3

وَلاَ يَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ سَبَقُواْ إِنَّهُمْ لاَ يُعْجِزُونَ

59.            Wala yahsabanna allatheena kafaroo sabaqoo innahum la yuAAjizoona
The denier of the truth should not be in misconception that they have won, surely they cannot defeat US.

وَأَعِدُّواْ لَهُم مَّا اسْتَطَعْتُم مِّن قُوَّةٍ وَمِن رِّبَاطِ الْخَيْلِ تُرْهِبُونَ بِهِ عَدْوَّ اللّهِ وَعَدُوَّكُمْ وَآخَرِينَ مِن دُونِهِمْ لاَ تَعْلَمُونَهُمُ اللّهُ يَعْلَمُهُمْ وَمَا تُنفِقُواْ مِن شَيْءٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ يُوَفَّ إِلَيْكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ لاَ تُظْلَمُونَ

60.            WaaAAiddoo lahum ma istataAAtum min quwwatin wamin ribati alkhayli turhiboona bihi AAaduwwa Allahi waAAaduwwakum waakhareena min doonihim la taAAlamoonahumu Allahu yaAAlamuhum wama tunfiqoo min shayin fee sabeeli Allahi yuwaffa ilaykum waantum la tuthlamoona
And you people, whatever is in your power, provide as much force as possible and train ever-ready-horses against them so that by this scare the enemies of Allâh and your enemies and those enemies whom you don’t know but Allâh knows. Whatever you will spend in the Path of Allâh -- its full reward will be returned to you and no unjust will be done to you.

وَإِن جَنَحُواْ لِلسَّلْمِ فَاجْنَحْ لَهَا وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللّهِ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

61.            Wain janahoo lilssalmi faijnah laha watawakkal AAala Allahi innahu huwa alssameeAAu alAAaleemu
And O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), if enemies incline towards peace and treaty then you should also incline towards it and trust in Allâh certainly HE is the One WHO Hears and Knows everything.

وَإِن يُرِيدُواْ أَن يَخْدَعُوكَ فَإِنَّ حَسْبَكَ اللّهُ هُوَ الَّذِيَ أَيَّدَكَ بِنَصْرِهِ وَبِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ

62.            Wain yureedoo an yakhdaAAooka fainna hasbaka Allahu huwa allathee ayyadaka binasrihi wabialmumineena
And if they have deceitful intention then Allâh Alone is Sufficient for you.  HE is the One WHO has supported you with HIS help and by the true believers

وَأَلَّفَ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِهِمْ لَوْ أَنفَقْتَ مَا فِي الأَرْضِ جَمِيعاً مَّا أَلَّفَتْ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِهِمْ وَلَـكِنَّ اللّهَ أَلَّفَ بَيْنَهُمْ إِنَّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ

63.            Waallafa bayna quloobihim law anfaqta ma fee alardi jameeAAan ma allafta bayna quloobihim walakinna Allaha allafa baynahum innahu AAazeezun hakeemun
And united the hearts of believers with each other.  If you had spent all the wealth of the earth, even then you could have not united their hearts but HE is Allâh WHO united the hearts of these people, certainly HE is Omnipotent and All Wise.

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ حَسْبُكَ اللّهُ وَمَنِ اتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

64.            Ya ayyuha alnnabiyyu hasbuka Allahu wamani ittabaAAaka mina almumineena
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), Allâh Alone is Sufficient for you and for the believers who follow you. (R) 4

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ حَرِّضِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَى الْقِتَالِ إِن يَكُن مِّنكُمْ عِشْرُونَ صَابِرُونَ يَغْلِبُواْ مِئَتَيْنِ وَإِن يَكُن مِّنكُم مِّئَةٌ يَغْلِبُواْ أَلْفًا مِّنَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لاَّ يَفْقَهُونَ

65.            Ya ayyuha alnnabiyyu harridi almumineena AAala alqitali in yakun minkum AAishroona sabiroona yaghliboo miatayni wain yakun minkum miatun yaghliboo alfan mina allatheena kafaroo biannahum qawmun la yafqahoona
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), motivate the believers for fight.  If there are twenty steadfast person among you then they will overcome two hundred people and if there are one hundred such people then they will overcome one thousand among the deniers of truth because they are such people who do not have wisdom.

الآنَ خَفَّفَ اللّهُ عَنكُمْ وَعَلِمَ أَنَّ فِيكُمْ ضَعْفًا فَإِن يَكُن مِّنكُم مِّئَةٌ صَابِرَةٌ يَغْلِبُواْ مِئَتَيْنِ وَإِن يَكُن مِّنكُمْ أَلْفٌ يَغْلِبُواْ أَلْفَيْنِ بِإِذْنِ اللّهِ وَاللّهُ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ

66.            Alana khaffafa Allahu AAankum waAAalima anna feekum daAAfan fain yakun minkum miatun sabiratun yaghliboo miatayni wain yakun minkum alfun yaghliboo alfayni biithni Allahi waAllahu maAAa alssabireena
Well, now Allâh has lightened your burdened and HE knows that still you have weakness, so if there are one hundred patient men among you they will overcome two hundred, and if there are one thousand such men then with the Leave of Allâh they will overcome two thousand, and Allâh is with those people who are patient (As-Sâbirin).

مَا كَانَ لِنَبِيٍّ أَن يَكُونَ لَهُ أَسْرَى حَتَّى يُثْخِنَ فِي الأَرْضِ تُرِيدُونَ عَرَضَ الدُّنْيَا وَاللّهُ يُرِيدُ الآخِرَةَ وَاللّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ

67.            Ma kana linabiyyin an yakoona lahu asra hatta yuthkhina fee alardi tureedoona AAarada alddunya waAllahu yureedu alakhirata waAllahu AAazeezun hakeemun
It is not for any Prophet to keep prisoners (of war) until he totally crushes the enemies in the land. You people desire the gains of this world, whereas Allâh desires (for you) the Hereafter, and Allâh is All Mighty and All Wise.

لَّوْلاَ كِتَابٌ مِّنَ اللّهِ سَبَقَ لَمَسَّكُمْ فِيمَا أَخَذْتُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ

68.            Lawla kitabun mina Allahi sabaqa lamassakum feema akhathtum AAathabun AAatheemun
If the Verdict of Allâh has not been already written then whatever you people have taken for that you should have been given severe torment.

فَكُلُواْ مِمَّا غَنِمْتُمْ حَلاَلاً طَيِّبًا وَاتَّقُواْ اللّهَ إِنَّ اللّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

69.            Fakuloo mimma ghanimtum halalan tayyiban waittaqoo Allaha inna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun
Therefore whatever wealth you have acquired eat it -- that it is lawful and pure and fear Allâh. Surely Allâh is Forgiving and Most Loving. (R) 5

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ قُل لِّمَن فِي أَيْدِيكُم مِّنَ الأَسْرَى إِن يَعْلَمِ اللّهُ فِي قُلُوبِكُمْ خَيْرًا يُؤْتِكُمْ خَيْرًا مِّمَّا أُخِذَ مِنكُمْ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ وَاللّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

70.            Ya ayyuha alnnabiyyu qul liman fee aydeekum mina alasra in yaAAlami Allahu fee quloobikum khayran yutikum khayran mimma okhitha minkum wayaghfir lakum waAllahu ghafoorun raheemun
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), tell those captives who are in your possession that if Allâh knew that there is some good in your hearts then HE will give you far more and better than what has been taken from you and will forgive your mistakes, Allâh is Forgiving and Merciful.

وَإِن يُرِيدُواْ خِيَانَتَكَ فَقَدْ خَانُواْ اللّهَ مِن قَبْلُ فَأَمْكَنَ مِنْهُمْ وَاللّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ

71.            Wain yureedoo khiyanataka faqad khanoo Allaha min qablu faamkana minhum waAllahu AAaleemun hakeemun
But if they have intention to betray you then before this they have betrayed Allâh however Allâh punished them for the same that they came under your control, Allâh is All-Knowing and Wise.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ وَهَاجَرُواْ وَجَاهَدُواْ بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ وَالَّذِينَ آوَواْ وَّنَصَرُواْ أُوْلَـئِكَ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاء بَعْضٍ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ وَلَمْ يُهَاجِرُواْ مَا لَكُم مِّن وَلاَيَتِهِم مِّن شَيْءٍ حَتَّى يُهَاجِرُواْ وَإِنِ اسْتَنصَرُوكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ فَعَلَيْكُمُ النَّصْرُ إِلاَّ عَلَى قَوْمٍ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُم مِّيثَاقٌ وَاللّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ

72.            Inna allatheena amanoo wahajaroo wajahadoo biamwalihim waanfusihim fee sabeeli Allahi waallatheena awaw wanasaroo olaika baAAduhum awliyao baAAdin waallatheena amanoo walam yuhajiroo ma lakum min walayatihim min shayin hatta yuhajiroo waini istansarookum fee alddeeni faAAalaykumu alnnasru illa AAala qawmin baynakum wabaynahum meethaqun waAllahu bima taAAmaloona baseerun
Those people who accepted the Faith and migrated and fought with their lives and spent their wealth in the Path of Allâh and those people who gave the place to the immigrants and helped them, in fact they are the guardians of one another.  As far those people who brought Faith but after migrating have not come (to Dar-ul-Islam) then you have no relation of guardianship with them until they migrate and come (to Dar-ul-Islam).  Yes if they seek your help in the matter of Deen then it is obligatory for you to help them, but not against any such nation with whom you have a treaty.  Whatever you do Allâh Sees it.

وَالَّذينَ كَفَرُواْ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاء بَعْضٍ إِلاَّ تَفْعَلُوهُ تَكُن فِتْنَةٌ فِي الأَرْضِ وَفَسَادٌ كَبِيرٌ

73.            Waallatheena kafaroo baAAduhum awliyao baAAdin illa tafAAaloohu takun fitnatun fee alardi wafasadun kabeerun
Those people who are the deniers of Truth they support each other.  If you would not do so -- then there will be a great mischief (Fitnah) and oppression on the earth.

وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ وَهَاجَرُواْ وَجَاهَدُواْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ وَالَّذِينَ آوَواْ وَّنَصَرُواْ أُولَـئِكَ هُمُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ حَقًّا لَّهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌ وَرِزْقٌ كَرِيمٌ

74.             Waallatheena amanoo wahajaroo wajahadoo fee sabeeli Allahi waallatheena awaw wanasaroo olaika humu almuminoona haqqan lahum maghfiratun warizqun kareemun
Those people who brought Faith and those who left their homes for the Cause of Allâh and striven hard (Al-Jihâd) and those who gave asylum and helped (them) they are the True believers.  There is forgiveness and excellent provisions (Rizqun Karîm) for them,

وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ مِن بَعْدُ وَهَاجَرُواْ وَجَاهَدُواْ مَعَكُمْ فَأُوْلَـئِكَ مِنكُمْ وَأُوْلُواْ الأَرْحَامِ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلَى بِبَعْضٍ فِي كِتَابِ اللّهِ إِنَّ اللّهَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ

75.             Waallatheena amanoo min baAAdu wahajaroo wajahadoo maAAakum faolaika minkum waoloo alarhami baAAduhum awla bibaAAdin fee kitabi Allahi inna Allaha bikulli shayin AAaleemun
And those people who brought Faith later and migrated and came and joining you started striving hard -- they are also included with you.  But according to the Book of Allâh the blood relatives are more rightful of each other (regarding inheritance in the decree ordained by Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala), surely Allâh Knows everything. (R) 6

 “At-Taubah/Bara'ah – Ultimatum/Repentance” – (Madanni - 9^th Sûrah)

Total Verses: 129

بَرَاءةٌ مِّنَ اللّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ إِلَى الَّذِينَ عَاهَدتُّم مِّنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ

1.               Baraatun mina Allahi warasoolihi ila allatheena AAahadtum mina almushrikeena
It is a declaration of displeasure from Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) for those idolaters (Mushrikûn) with whom you had made treaties.

فَسِيحُواْ فِي الأَرْضِ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَاعْلَمُواْ أَنَّكُمْ غَيْرُ مُعْجِزِي اللّهِ وَأَنَّ اللّهَ مُخْزِي الْكَافِرِينَ

2.               Faseehoo fee alardi arbaAAata ashhurin waiAAlamoo annakum ghayru muAAjizee Allahi waanna Allaha mukhzee alkafireena
So you people are free to move around in the land for four more months and make note of it that you are not able to weaken Allâh and that Allâh is going to humiliate the deniers of Truth.

وَأَذَانٌ مِّنَ اللّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ إِلَى النَّاسِ يَوْمَ الْحَجِّ الأَكْبَرِ أَنَّ اللّهَ بَرِيءٌ مِّنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَرَسُولُهُ فَإِن تُبْتُمْ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ وَإِن تَوَلَّيْتُمْ فَاعْلَمُواْ أَنَّكُمْ غَيْرُ مُعْجِزِي اللّهِ وَبَشِّرِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ

3.               Waathanun mina Allahi warasoolihi ila alnnasi yawma alhajji alakbari anna Allaha bareeon mina almushrikeena warasooluhu fain tubtum fahuwa khayrun lakum wain tawallaytum faiAAlamoo annakum ghayru muAAjizee Allahi wabashshiri allatheena kafaroo biAAathabin aleemin
It is a public announcement from Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) for all mankind on the day of Great Hajj (10^th of Dhul-Hijjah - the 12^th month of Islâmic calendar) that Allâh is free of responsibility from the idolaters (Mushrikûn) and so is HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).  Now if you people repent; it is better for you and if you turn away then know it well that you are not able to weaken Allâh.  And O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) give the good news of a painful torment to those who are deniers (of Truth),

إِلاَّ الَّذِينَ عَاهَدتُّم مِّنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَنقُصُوكُمْ شَيْئًا وَلَمْ يُظَاهِرُواْ عَلَيْكُمْ أَحَدًا فَأَتِمُّواْ إِلَيْهِمْ عَهْدَهُمْ إِلَى مُدَّتِهِمْ إِنَّ اللّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُتَّقِينَ

4.               Illa allatheena AAahadtum mina almushrikeena thumma lam yanqusookum shayan walam yuthahiroo AAalaykum ahadan faatimmoo ilayhim AAahdahum ila muddatihim inna Allaha yuhibbu almuttaqeena
Except those idolaters (Mushrikûn) with whom you made treaties then they did not fail to fulfill their treaties with you and nor did they helped anyone against you then with such people you should also fulfill the treaty for the prescribed term, because Allâh likes only the pious people (Al-Muttaqûn).

فَإِذَا انسَلَخَ الأَشْهُرُ الْحُرُمُ فَاقْتُلُواْ الْمُشْرِكِينَ حَيْثُ وَجَدتُّمُوهُمْ وَخُذُوهُمْ وَاحْصُرُوهُمْ وَاقْعُدُواْ لَهُمْ كُلَّ مَرْصَدٍ فَإِن تَابُواْ وَأَقَامُواْ الصَّلاَةَ وَآتَوُاْ الزَّكَاةَ فَخَلُّواْ سَبِيلَهُمْ إِنَّ اللّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

5.               Faitha insalakha alashhuru alhurumu faoqtuloo almushrikeena haythu wajadtumoohum wakhuthoohum waohsuroohum waoqAAudoo lahum kulla marsadin fain taboo waaqamoo alssalata waatawoo alzzakata fakhalloo sabeelahum inna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun
Therefore when the forbidden (Sacred) Months (the 1^st, 7^th, 11^th, and 12^th months of the Islâmic calendar) are over then kill the idolaters (Mushrikûn) wherever you find them and arrest and surround them and sit on every hiding place to look for them.  Then if they repent and establish prayer (Salât -- Iqâmat-as-Salât) and pay the poor-dues (Zakât) then leave them.  Allâh is Forgiving and Merciful.

وَإِنْ أَحَدٌ مِّنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ اسْتَجَارَكَ فَأَجِرْهُ حَتَّى يَسْمَعَ كَلاَمَ اللّهِ ثُمَّ أَبْلِغْهُ مَأْمَنَهُ ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لاَّ يَعْلَمُونَ

6.               Wain ahadun mina almushrikeena istajaraka faajirhu hatta yasmaAAa kalama Allahi thumma ablighhu mamanahu thalika biannahum qawmun la yaAAlamoona
And if anyone from among the idolaters (Mushrikûn) after seeking the asylum comes to you (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, to listen the Revelation of Allâh) then grant him/her protection until he/she listen the Word of Allâh (Al-Qur'ân).  Then send him/her to his/her place of safety.  It should be done so because these people do not have knowledge. (R) 7

كَيْفَ يَكُونُ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ عَهْدٌ عِندَ اللّهِ وَعِندَ رَسُولِهِ إِلاَّ الَّذِينَ عَاهَدتُّمْ عِندَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ فَمَا اسْتَقَامُواْ لَكُمْ فَاسْتَقِيمُواْ لَهُمْ إِنَّ اللّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُتَّقِينَ

7.               Kayfa yakoonu lilmushrikeena AAahdun AAinda Allahi waAAinda rasoolihi illa allatheena AAahadtum AAinda almasjidi alharami fama istaqamoo lakum faistaqeemoo lahum inna Allaha yuhibbu almuttaqeena
How any agreement can be for these idolaters (Mushrikûn) near Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam)?--Except those people with whom you had made an agreement near the Masjid-al-Harâm (at Makkah), then until they remain honest (straight) with you -- you should also remain honest (straightforward) with them because Allâh likes the pious people (Al-Muttaqûn)--

كَيْفَ وَإِن يَظْهَرُوا عَلَيْكُمْ لاَ يَرْقُبُواْ فِيكُمْ إِلاًّ وَلاَ ذِمَّةً يُرْضُونَكُم بِأَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَتَأْبَى قُلُوبُهُمْ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ فَاسِقُونَ

8.               Kayfa wain yathharoo AAalaykum la yarquboo feekum illan wala thimmatan yurdoonakum biafwahihim wataba quloobuhum waaktharuhum fasiqoona
But except them how any agreement can be with other idolaters (Mushrikûn) whereas their behavior is such that when they overcome you then in your matter neither they regard for any relationship nor an obligation of any agreement?  They verbally try to please you but their hearts deny it and the majority of them are rebellious (Fâsiqûn).

اشْتَرَوْاْ بِآيَاتِ اللّهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلاً فَصَدُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِهِ إِنَّهُمْ سَاء مَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَ

9.               Ishtaraw biayati Allahi thamanan qaleelan fasaddoo AAan sabeelihi innahum saa ma kanoo yaAAmaloona
They accepted a little price for the Revelation (Ayât) of Allâh then they stood as an obstacle in the Path of Allâh.  What they do are very bad deeds.

لاَ يَرْقُبُونَ فِي مُؤْمِنٍ إِلاًّ وَلاَ ذِمَّةً وَأُوْلَـئِكَ هُمُ الْمُعْتَدُونَ

10.           La yarquboona fee muminin illan wala thimmatan waolaika humu almuAAtadoona
In the matters of True believers they neither care for any relationship nor observe an obligation of any agreement.  And they always have done the violence.

فَإِن تَابُواْ وَأَقَامُواْ الصَّلاَةَ وَآتَوُاْ الزَّكَاةَ فَإِخْوَانُكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ وَنُفَصِّلُ الآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ

11.            Fain taboo waaqamoo alssalata waatawoo alzzakata faikhwanukum fee alddeeni wanufassilu alayati liqawmin yaAAlamoona
Therefore if they repent and establish prayer (Salât) and pay the poor-dues (Zakât) then they are your brothers in Deen and WE explain OUR Orders for those who know.

وَإِن نَّكَثُواْ أَيْمَانَهُم مِّن بَعْدِ عَهْدِهِمْ وَطَعَنُواْ فِي دِينِكُمْ فَقَاتِلُواْ أَئِمَّةَ الْكُفْرِ إِنَّهُمْ لاَ أَيْمَانَ لَهُمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَنتَهُونَ

12.            Wain nakathoo aymanahum min baAAdi AAahdihim wataAAanoo fee deenikum faqatiloo aimmata alkufri innahum la aymana lahum laAAallahum yantahoona
And if after making pledge they violate their oaths and start attacking at your Deen then fight with the banner holders (standard-bearer, leaders) of infidelity (Kufr) because their oaths are not trustworthy. Perhaps that (by the force of sword) they may stop.

أَلاَ تُقَاتِلُونَ قَوْمًا نَّكَثُواْ أَيْمَانَهُمْ وَهَمُّواْ بِإِخْرَاجِ الرَّسُولِ وَهُم بَدَؤُوكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ أَتَخْشَوْنَهُمْ فَاللّهُ أَحَقُّ أَن تَخْشَوْهُ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤُمِنِينَ

13.            Ala tuqatiloona qawman nakathoo aymanahum wahammoo biikhraji alrrasooli wahum badaookum awwala marratin atakhshawnahum faAllahu ahaqqu an takhshawhu in kuntum mumineena
Will you not fight against such people who have been breaking their oaths and who had intended to expel the Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) from the country and they were the originators of violence?  Do you fear them?  If you are believers then Allâh has more right that you fear HIM.

قَاتِلُوهُمْ يُعَذِّبْهُمُ اللّهُ بِأَيْدِيكُمْ وَيُخْزِهِمْ وَيَنصُرْكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَيَشْفِ صُدُورَ قَوْمٍ مُّؤْمِنِينَ

14.            Qatiloohum yuAAaththibhumu Allahu biaydeekum wayukhzihim wayansurkum AAalayhim wayashfi sudoora qawmin mumineena
Fight against them, Allâh will punish them by your hands and will humiliate them and will help you against them and will comfort the hearts of many believers,

وَيُذْهِبْ غَيْظَ قُلُوبِهِمْ وَيَتُوبُ اللّهُ عَلَى مَن يَشَاء وَاللّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ

15.            Wayuthhib ghaytha quloobihim wayatoobu Allahu AAala man yashao waAllahu AAaleemun hakeemun
And will remove the anger of their hearts, and whom (HE) Wants (HE) will give the ability to repent.  Allâh is All-Knowing and Wise.

أَمْ حَسِبْتُمْ أَن تُتْرَكُواْ وَلَمَّا يَعْلَمِ اللّهُ الَّذِينَ جَاهَدُواْ مِنكُمْ وَلَمْ يَتَّخِذُواْ مِن دُونِ اللّهِ وَلاَ رَسُولِهِ وَلاَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَلِيجَةً وَاللّهُ خَبِيرٌ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ

16.            Am hasibtum an tutrakoo walamma yaAAlami Allahu allatheena jahadoo minkum walam yattakhithoo min dooni Allahi wala rasoolihi wala almumineena waleejatan waAllahu khabeerun bima taAAmaloona
Do you people think that you will be set free just like this -- whereas Allâh has not yet seen that who among you are those people who have struggled hard (in HIS Path) and have not taken others as their intimate friends (Walîjah) except Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and the True Believers, whatever you do Allâh is Well Aware of it. (R) 8

مَا كَانَ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ أَن يَعْمُرُواْ مَسَاجِدَ الله شَاهِدِينَ عَلَى أَنفُسِهِمْ بِالْكُفْرِ أُوْلَئِكَ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَالُهُمْ وَفِي النَّارِ هُمْ خَالِدُونَ

17.            Ma kana lilmushrikeena an yaAAmuroo masajida Allahi shahideena AAala anfusihim bialkufri olaika habitat aAAmaluhum wafee alnnari hum khalidoona
It is not for the Mushrikûn that they become the guardians and servants of the Masajids (Muslims place of worship) of Allâh while they are testifying against themselves for the infidelity (Kufr). Their all deeds are wasted and they have to stay in the Hell-Fire forever.

إِنَّمَا يَعْمُرُ مَسَاجِدَ اللّهِ مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ وَأَقَامَ الصَّلاَةَ وَآتَى الزَّكَاةَ وَلَمْ يَخْشَ إِلاَّ اللّهَ فَعَسَى أُوْلَـئِكَ أَن يَكُونُواْ مِنَ الْمُهْتَدِينَ

18.            Innama yaAAmuru masajida Allahi man amana biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri waaqama alssalata waata alzzakata walam yakhsha illa Allaha faAAasa olaika an yakoonoo mina almuhtadeena
Only those people could be the inhabitants (guardians and servants) of the Masajids (Muslims place of worship) of Allâh who believe in Allâh and the Last Day, and establish prayer (Salât, Iqâmat-as-Salât) pay the poor-dues (Zakât), and do not fear anyone except Allâh.  It is expected from them that they will follow the right path.

أَجَعَلْتُمْ سِقَايَةَ الْحَاجِّ وَعِمَارَةَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ كَمَنْ آمَنَ بِاللّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ وَجَاهَدَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ لاَ يَسْتَوُونَ عِندَ اللّهِ وَاللّهُ لاَ يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ

19.            AjaAAaltum siqayata alhajji waAAimarata almasjidi alharami kaman amana biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri wajahada fee sabeeli Allahi la yastawoona AAinda Allahi waAllahu la yahdee alqawma alththalimeena
Have you people made the providing of water to the pilgrims and guardianship of Al-Masjid-al-Harâm as an equal to the work of that person who brought Faith in Allâh and the Last Day and who struggled hard in the Path of Allâh?  In the Sight of Allâh they both are not equal and Allâh does not guide the wrong-does (Zâlimûn).

الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ وَهَاجَرُواْ وَجَاهَدُواْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ أَعْظَمُ دَرَجَةً عِندَ اللّهِ وَأُوْلَئِكَ هُمُ الْفَائِزُونَ

20.            Allatheena amanoo wahajaroo wajahadoo fee sabeeli Allahi biamwalihim waanfusihim aAAthamu darajatan AAinda Allahi waolaika humu alfaizoona
With Allâh the higher rank is for those people who brought Faith and left their homes and families in the Path of Allâh and fought with their lives and wealth, they are the successful.

يُبَشِّرُهُمْ رَبُّهُم بِرَحْمَةٍ مِّنْهُ وَرِضْوَانٍ وَجَنَّاتٍ لَّهُمْ فِيهَا نَعِيمٌ مُّقِيمٌ

21.            Yubashshiruhum rabbuhum birahmatin minhu waridwanin wajannatin lahum feeha naAAeemun muqeemun
Their Râbb gives them glad tidings of HIS Mercy and HIS pleasure and of such Gardens where there are durable things of enjoyment for them.

خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا إِنَّ اللّهَ عِندَهُ أَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌ

22.            Khalideena feeha abadan inna Allaha AAindahu ajrun AAatheemun
They will live in it forever.  Surely Allâh has much to recompense for the services.

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ لاَ تَتَّخِذُواْ آبَاءكُمْ وَإِخْوَانَكُمْ أَوْلِيَاء إَنِ اسْتَحَبُّواْ الْكُفْرَ عَلَى الإِيمَانِ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّهُم مِّنكُمْ فَأُوْلَـئِكَ هُمُ الظَّالِمُونَ

23.            Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la tattakhithoo abaakum waikhwanakum awliyaa ini istahabboo alkufra AAala aleemani waman yatawallahum minkum faolaika humu alththalimoona
O people who have brought Faith, do not even take your fathers and brothers as your friends (Auliyâ') if they prefer Kufr (infidelity) above Imân (Belief).  Whoever among you will take them as their friends they will be cruel (Zâlimûn).

قُلْ إِن كَانَ آبَاؤُكُمْ وَأَبْنَآؤُكُمْ وَإِخْوَانُكُمْ وَأَزْوَاجُكُمْ وَعَشِيرَتُكُمْ وَأَمْوَالٌ اقْتَرَفْتُمُوهَا وَتِجَارَةٌ تَخْشَوْنَ كَسَادَهَا وَمَسَاكِنُ تَرْضَوْنَهَا أَحَبَّ إِلَيْكُم مِّنَ اللّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَجِهَادٍ فِي سَبِيلِهِ فَتَرَبَّصُواْ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ اللّهُ بِأَمْرِهِ وَاللّهُ لاَ يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْفَاسِقِينَ

24.            Qul in kana abaokum waabnaokum waikhwanukum waazwajukum waAAasheeratukum waamwalun iqtaraftumooha watijaratun takhshawna kasadaha wamasakinu tardawnaha ahabba ilaykum mina Allahi warasoolihi wajihadin fee sabeelihi fatarabbasoo hatta yatiya Allahu biamrihi waAllahu la yahdee alqawma alfasiqeena
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) say that if your fathers, and your sons, and your brothers, and your wives, and your close relatives (kindred), and your those properties which you have earned, and your those businesses in which you have fear of decline, and your those homes which you like the most, are dearer to you than Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and the Jihâd (to strive hard/Fight) in HIS Path then wait until Allâh brings HIS Decision before you, and Allâh does not guide rebellious (Al-Fâsiqûn) people. (R) 9

لَقَدْ نَصَرَكُمُ اللّهُ فِي مَوَاطِنَ كَثِيرَةٍ وَيَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ إِذْ أَعْجَبَتْكُمْ كَثْرَتُكُمْ فَلَمْ تُغْنِ عَنكُمْ شَيْئًا وَضَاقَتْ عَلَيْكُمُ الأَرْضُ بِمَا رَحُبَتْ ثُمَّ وَلَّيْتُم مُّدْبِرِينَ

25.            Laqad nasarakumu Allahu fee mawatina katheeratin wayawma hunaynin ith aAAjabatkum kathratukum falam tughni AAankum shayan wadaqat AAalaykumu alardu bima rahubat thumma wallaytum mudbireena
Allâh has helped you on many occasions before it.  Recently on the Day of battle of Hunain (you have seen the glory of HIS help).  That Day you had a pride of your large number.  But it did not help you at all and the land besides all its vastness became narrow for you and you turned back and ran away.

ثُمَّ أَنَزلَ اللّهُ سَكِينَتَهُ عَلَى رَسُولِهِ وَعَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَأَنزَلَ جُنُودًا لَّمْ تَرَوْهَا وَعذَّبَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَذَلِكَ جَزَاء الْكَافِرِينَ

26.           Thumma anzala Allahu sakeenatahu AAala rasoolihi waAAala almumineena waanzala junoodan lam tarawha waAAaththaba allatheena kafaroo wathalika jazao alkafireena
Then Allâh sent HIS tranquility (Sakînah) on HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and the believers and sent down those forces (of angels) which you could not see and punished the deniers of the Truth that this is the recompense for those people who deny the Truth.

ثُمَّ يَتُوبُ اللّهُ مِن بَعْدِ ذَلِكَ عَلَى مَن يَشَاء وَاللّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

27.            Thumma yatoobu Allahu min baAAdi thalika AAala man yashao waAllahu ghafoorun raheemun
Then (you have also seen it) this way after giving punishment whomever Allâh Wants also grants the ability for repentance, Allâh is Forgiving and Most Loving.

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ إِنَّمَا الْمُشْرِكُونَ نَجَسٌ فَلاَ يَقْرَبُواْ الْمَسْجِدَ الْحَرَامَ بَعْدَ عَامِهِمْ هَـذَا وَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ عَيْلَةً فَسَوْفَ يُغْنِيكُمُ اللّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِ إِن شَاء إِنَّ اللّهَ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ

28.            Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo innama almushrikoona najasun fala yaqraboo almasjida alharama baAAda AAamihim hatha wain khiftum AAaylatan fasawfa yughneekumu Allahu min fadlihi in shaa inna Allaha AAaleemun hakeemun
O people who have brought Faith, the idolaters (Mushrikûn) are impure/unclean (Najasun); therefore after this year they should not come near to the Masjid-al-Harâm.  And if you fear poverty then it is possible that if Allâh wishes then (HE) may enrich you with HIS Bounty, Allâh is All Knowing, All Wise.

قَاتِلُواْ الَّذِينَ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللّهِ وَلاَ بِالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ وَلاَ يُحَرِّمُونَ مَا حَرَّمَ اللّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ وَلاَ يَدِينُونَ دِينَ الْحَقِّ مِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ الْكِتَابَ حَتَّى يُعْطُواْ الْجِزْيَةَ عَن يَدٍ وَهُمْ صَاغِرُونَ

29.            Qatiloo allatheena la yuminoona biAllahi wala bialyawmi alakhiri wala yuharrimoona ma harrama Allahu warasooluhu wala yadeenoona deena alhaqqi mina allatheena ootoo alkitaba hatta yuAAtoo aljizyata AAan yadin wahum saghiroona
Fight against from among those people of the Book who do not bring Faith in Allâh and the Last Day and whatever Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) has declared prohibited (Harâm) do not make it unlawful (Harâm) and do not take (embrace) the True Deen as their Deen (Islamic Way of Life).  (Fight against them) Until they pay the tax for their protection (Jizyah) with their own hands and become subdued. (R) 10

وَقَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ عُزَيْرٌ ابْنُ اللّهِ وَقَالَتْ النَّصَارَى الْمَسِيحُ ابْنُ اللّهِ ذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُم بِأَفْوَاهِهِمْ يُضَاهِؤُونَ قَوْلَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن قَبْلُ قَاتَلَهُمُ اللّهُ أَنَّى يُؤْفَكُونَ

30.            Waqalati alyahoodu AAuzayrun ibnu Allahi waqalati alnnasara almaseehu ibnu Allahi thalika qawluhum biafwahihim yudahioona qawla allatheena kafaroo min qablu qatalahumu Allahu anna yufakoona
The Jews say that 'Uzair (Ezra) is son of Allâh and the Christians say that Messiah (Christ) is son of Allâh.  These are baseless things, which they utter from their mouths, imitating those people who were involved in infidelity (Kufr) before them.  The Curse of Allâh is on them, from where they are being deceived.

اتَّخَذُواْ أَحْبَارَهُمْ وَرُهْبَانَهُمْ أَرْبَابًا مِّن دُونِ اللّهِ وَالْمَسِيحَ ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَمَا أُمِرُواْ إِلاَّ لِيَعْبُدُواْ إِلَـهًا وَاحِدًا لاَّ إِلَـهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ سُبْحَانَهُ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ

31.            Ittakhathoo ahbarahum waruhbanahum arbaban min dooni Allahi waalmaseeha ibna maryama wama omiroo illa liyaAAbudoo ilahan wahidan la ilaha illa huwa subhanahu AAamma yushrikoona
They have taken their scholars and monks to be their Râbb (by obeying them in things which they themselves made lawful or unlawful according to their own desires), except Allâh and in the same way as well as the Messiah son of Maryam.  Whereas they had not been commanded to worship anyone except One Ilâh (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala), the One except whom there is no one worthy of being worshiped, HE is Pure (Exalted above) from all those nonsense (Mushrikana) things which they utter.

يُرِيدُونَ أَن يُطْفِؤُواْ نُورَ اللّهِ بِأَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَيَأْبَى اللّهُ إِلاَّ أَن يُتِمَّ نُورَهُ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْكَافِرُونَ

32.            Yureedoona an yutfioo noora Allahi biafwahihim wayaba Allahu illa an yutimma noorahu walaw kariha alkafiroona
These people want to extinguish the Light of Allâh with their blows.  But Allâh is not going to stop without completing (perfecting) HIS Light whether it may be very unpleasing for the infidels (Kâfirûn).

هُوَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُ بِالْهُدَى وَدِينِ الْحَقِّ لِيُظْهِرَهُ عَلَى الدِّينِ كُلِّهِ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ

33.            Huwa allathee arsala rasoolahu bialhuda wadeeni alhaqqi liyuthhirahu AAala alddeeni kullihi walaw kariha almushrikoona
HE is Allâh who has sent HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) with Guidance and True Deen (Islâm) so that (HE) make it to prevail over all kinds of religions whether it may be very unpleasing for the idolaters (Mushrikûn).

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ إِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ الأَحْبَارِ وَالرُّهْبَانِ لَيَأْكُلُونَ أَمْوَالَ النَّاسِ بِالْبَاطِلِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ اللّهِ وَالَّذِينَ يَكْنِزُونَ الذَّهَبَ وَالْفِضَّةَ وَلاَ يُنفِقُونَهَا فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ

34.            Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo inna katheeran mina alahbari waalrruhbani layakuloona amwala alnnasi bialbatili wayasuddoona AAan sabeeli Allahi waallatheena yaknizoona alththahaba waalfiddata wala yunfiqoonaha fee sabeeli Allahi fabashshirhum biAAathabin aleemin
O people who have brought Faith, this is the behavior of many rabbis and priest of the people of the Scripture that they take (eat) the wealth of people in falsehood (wrong ways) and (they) stop them from the Path of Allâh.  Give the good news of severe punishment to those who accumulate gold and silver (Al-Kanz) and do not spend it for the Cause of Allâh.

يَوْمَ يُحْمَى عَلَيْهَا فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ فَتُكْوَى بِهَا جِبَاهُهُمْ وَجُنوبُهُمْ وَظُهُورُهُمْ هَـذَا مَا كَنَزْتُمْ لأَنفُسِكُمْ فَذُوقُواْ مَا كُنتُمْ تَكْنِزُونَ

35.            Yawma yuhma AAalayha fee nari jahannama fatukwa biha jibahuhum wajunoobuhum wathuhooruhum hatha ma kanaztum lianfusikum fathooqoo ma kuntum taknizoona
A Day will come when Hell-Fire will be blazed on the same gold and silver and then with it the foreheads and sides and backs of these people will be spotted (defamed).  This is the treasure that you had accumulated for yourself, now taste (the punishment of) your accumulated wealth.

إِنَّ عِدَّةَ الشُّهُورِ عِندَ اللّهِ اثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْرًا فِي كِتَابِ اللّهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَات وَالأَرْضَ مِنْهَا أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ ذَلِكَ الدِّينُ الْقَيِّمُ فَلاَ تَظْلِمُواْ فِيهِنَّ أَنفُسَكُمْ وَقَاتِلُواْ الْمُشْرِكِينَ كَآفَّةً كَمَا يُقَاتِلُونَكُمْ كَآفَّةً وَاعْلَمُواْ أَنَّ اللّهَ مَعَ الْمُتَّقِينَ

36.            Inna AAiddata alshshuhoori AAinda Allahi ithna AAashara shahran fee kitabi Allahi yawma khalaqa alssamawati waalarda minha arbaAAatun hurumun thalika alddeenu alqayyimu fala tathlimoo feehinna anfusakum waqatiloo almushrikeena kaffatan kama yuqatiloonakum kaffatan waiAAlamoo anna Allaha maAAa almuttaqeena
The fact is that the number of months with Allâh has been twelve since the time Allâh created the skies and the earth and from these four months (1^st, 7^th, 11^th, and 12^th of the Islâmic calendar) are forbidden (sacred).  This is the right rule therefore in these four months do not do wrong to yourselves and collectively fight against the idolaters (Mushrikûn) as they collectively fight against you and remember that Allâh is with the pious people (Al-Muttaqûn)

إِنَّمَا النَّسِيءُ زِيَادَةٌ فِي الْكُفْرِ يُضَلُّ بِهِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُحِلِّونَهُ عَامًا وَيُحَرِّمُونَهُ عَامًا لِّيُوَاطِؤُواْ عِدَّةَ مَا حَرَّمَ اللّهُ فَيُحِلُّواْ مَا حَرَّمَ اللّهُ زُيِّنَ لَهُمْ سُوءُ أَعْمَالِهِمْ وَاللّهُ لاَ يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْكَافِرِينَ

37.            Innama alnnaseeo ziyadatun fee alkufri yudallu bihi allatheena kafaroo yuhilloonahu AAaman wayuharrimoonahu AAaman liyuwatioo AAiddata ma harrama Allahu fayuhilloo ma harrama Allahu zuyyina lahum sooo aAAmalihim waAllahu la yahdee alqawma alkafireena
The postponing of sacred month (Nasi) is an additional act of infidelity in infidelity (Kufr) from it these infidels (Kafir) are led astray.  They make a month lawful one year and forbidden another year, so that they also complete the number of months forbidden by Allâh and the same time make it lawful what Allâh has forbidden--their evil deeds are made pleasing for them and Allâh does not guide the deniers of the Truth. (R) 11

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ مَا لَكُمْ إِذَا قِيلَ لَكُمُ انفِرُواْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ اثَّاقَلْتُمْ إِلَى الأَرْضِ أَرَضِيتُم بِالْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا مِنَ الآخِرَةِ فَمَا مَتَاعُ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا فِي الآخِرَةِ إِلاَّ قَلِيلٌ

38.            Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo ma lakum itha qeela lakumu infiroo fee sabeeli Allahi iththaqaltum ila alardi aradeetum bialhayati alddunya mina alakhirati fama mataAAu alhayati alddunya fee alakhirati illa qaleelun
O people who have brought Faith -- what is wrong with you that when you are asked to come out in the Path of Allâh (for Jihâd) then you remained attached with the earth?  Did you prefer this worldly life as compare to the hereafter?  If it is so then you should know that all the provisions of this worldly life would be very little in the hereafter.

إِلاَّ تَنفِرُواْ يُعَذِّبْكُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا وَيَسْتَبْدِلْ قَوْمًا غَيْرَكُمْ وَلاَ تَضُرُّوهُ شَيْئًا وَاللّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

39.            Illa tanfiroo yuAAaththibkum AAathaban aleeman wayastabdil qawman ghayrakum wala tadurroohu shayan waAllahu AAala kulli shayin qadeerun
If you will not stand up then Allâh will give you severe punishment, and will raise another group at your place, and you will not be able to do any harm to Allâh HE has Power over everything.

إِلاَّ تَنصُرُوهُ فَقَدْ نَصَرَهُ اللّهُ إِذْ أَخْرَجَهُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ ثَانِيَ اثْنَيْنِ إِذْ هُمَا فِي الْغَارِ إِذْ يَقُولُ لِصَاحِبِهِ لاَ تَحْزَنْ إِنَّ اللّهَ مَعَنَا فَأَنزَلَ اللّهُ سَكِينَتَهُ عَلَيْهِ وَأَيَّدَهُ بِجُنُودٍ لَّمْ تَرَوْهَا وَجَعَلَ كَلِمَةَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ السُّفْلَى وَكَلِمَةُ اللّهِ هِيَ الْعُلْيَا وَاللّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ

40.            Illa tansuroohu faqad nasarahu Allahu ith akhrajahu allatheena kafaroo thaniya ithnayni ith huma fee alghari ith yaqoolu lisahibihi la tahzan inna Allaha maAAana faanzala Allahu sakeenatahu AAalayhi waayyadahu bijunoodin lam tarawha wajaAAala kalimata allatheena kafaroo alssufla wakalimatu Allahi hiya alAAulya waAllahu AAazeezun hakeemun
If you did not help the Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) then it does not matter, Allâh has helped him when the infidels (Kafir) had expelled him, when he was the second of only two, when they both were in the cave, when he was saying to his companion that, "Do not grieve, Allâh is with us."  At that time Allâh sent down the peace of heart (Sakînah) on him from HIMSELF and helped him with such armies that you could not see and blemished the word of infidels (Kafir).  And the Word of Allâh is the Highest; Allâh is Mighty and All Wise.

انْفِرُواْ خِفَافًا وَثِقَالاً وَجَاهِدُواْ بِأَمْوَالِكُمْ وَأَنفُسِكُمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ ذَلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ

41.             Infiroo khifafan wathiqalan wajahidoo biamwalikum waanfusikum fee sabeeli Allahi thalikum khayrun lakum in kuntum taAAlamoona
Come out, whether (you) are light or heavy (burdened), and strive hard (do Jihad/Fight) in the Path of Allâh with your wealth and your lives, if you understand -- this is better for you.

لَوْ كَانَ عَرَضًا قَرِيبًا وَسَفَرًا قَاصِدًا لاَّتَّبَعُوكَ وَلَـكِن بَعُدَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الشُّقَّةُ وَسَيَحْلِفُونَ بِاللّهِ لَوِ اسْتَطَعْنَا لَخَرَجْنَا مَعَكُمْ يُهْلِكُونَ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَاللّهُ يَعْلَمُ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَاذِبُونَ

42.             Law kana AAaradan qareeban wasafaran qasidan laittabaAAooka walakin baAAudat AAalayhimu alshshuqqatu wasayahlifoona biAllahi lawi istataAAna lakharajna maAAakum yuhlikoona anfusahum waAllahu yaAAlamu innahum lakathiboona
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), if the benefit would be an easy to get and the journey would be short (easy) then they certainly would have followed you but this journey became hard on them.  Now they will swear upon Allâh and say that if we would be able to go we certainly would have accompanied you.  They are putting themselves in destruction.  Allâh knows very well that they are the liars. (R) 12

عَفَا اللّهُ عَنكَ لِمَ أَذِنتَ لَهُمْ حَتَّى يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكَ الَّذِينَ صَدَقُواْ وَتَعْلَمَ الْكَاذِبِينَ

43.            AAafa Allahu AAanka lima athinta lahum hatta yatabayyana laka allatheena sadaqoo wataAAlama alkathibeena
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), may Allâh forgive you why did you grant them leave?  (It would be that you, Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, should have not granted them leave) so that it would be manifested to you that who are truthful and you should also have known the liars.

لاَ يَسْتَأْذِنُكَ الَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ أَن يُجَاهِدُواْ بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ وَاللّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِالْمُتَّقِينَ

44.            La yastathinuka allatheena yuminoona biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri an yujahidoo biamwalihim waanfusihim waAllahu AAaleemun bialmuttaqeena
Those people who have Faith in Allâh and the Last Day they will never request you for it that they should be excused to fight (do Jihâd) with their properties and lives.  Allâh Knows the pious people (Al-Muttaqûn) very well.

إِنَّمَا يَسْتَأْذِنُكَ الَّذِينَ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ وَارْتَابَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ فَهُمْ فِي رَيْبِهِمْ يَتَرَدَّدُونَ

45.             Innama yastathinuka allatheena la yuminoona biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri wairtabat quloobuhum fahum fee raybihim yataraddadoona
Only those people make such requests who do not have Faith in Allâh and the Last Day, in whose hearts there is doubt and they are unstable in their doubts.

وَلَوْ أَرَادُواْ الْخُرُوجَ لأَعَدُّواْ لَهُ عُدَّةً وَلَـكِن كَرِهَ اللّهُ انبِعَاثَهُمْ فَثَبَّطَهُمْ وَقِيلَ اقْعُدُواْ مَعَ الْقَاعِدِينَ

46.             Walaw aradoo alkhurooja laaAAaddoo lahu AAuddatan walakin kariha Allahu inbiAAathahum fathabbatahum waqeela oqAAudoo maAAa alqaAAideena
If they really have intention to come out then they would have done some preparation for it.  But Allâh did not like their coming-out this is why HE made them lazy and it was said that sit with those who are sitting (at home).

لَوْ خَرَجُواْ فِيكُم مَّا زَادُوكُمْ إِلاَّ خَبَالاً ولأَوْضَعُواْ خِلاَلَكُمْ يَبْغُونَكُمُ الْفِتْنَةَ وَفِيكُمْ سَمَّاعُونَ لَهُمْ وَاللّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِالظَّالِمِينَ

47.             Law kharajoo feekum ma zadookum illa khabalan walaawdaAAoo khilalakum yabghoonakumu alfitnata wafeekum sammaAAoona lahum waAllahu AAaleemun bialththalimeena
If they had gone with you then they would have added nothing except mischief among you.  They would have struggled to create mischief among you, and this is the behavior of your group that there are still many such people among them who thoughtfully listen to them, Allâh Knows these cruel people (Zâlimûn) very well.

لَقَدِ ابْتَغَوُاْ الْفِتْنَةَ مِن قَبْلُ وَقَلَّبُواْ لَكَ الأُمُورَ حَتَّى جَاء الْحَقُّ وَظَهَرَ أَمْرُ اللّهِ وَهُمْ كَارِهُونَ

48.             Laqadi ibtaghawoo alfitnata min qablu waqallaboo laka alomoora hatta jaa alhaqqu wathahara amru Allahi wahum karihoona
Before it these people have also made many efforts to create mischief and they have used all sorts of plans to make you unsuccessful until the truth prevailed without their willingness and the Design of Allâh has been fulfilled.

وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَقُولُ ائْذَن لِّي وَلاَ تَفْتِنِّي أَلاَ فِي الْفِتْنَةِ سَقَطُواْ وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمُحِيطَةٌ بِالْكَافِرِينَ

49.             Waminhum man yaqoolu ithan lee wala taftinnee ala fee alfitnati saqatoo wainna jahannama lamuheetatun bialkafireena
There is someone among them who says: "Grant me leave (from Jihâd/fight) and do not put me into mischief."  Listen carefully! These people are already fallen into the mischief and Hell has surrounded these infidels (Kafir).

إِن تُصِبْكَ حَسَنَةٌ تَسُؤْهُمْ وَإِن تُصِبْكَ مُصِيبَةٌ يَقُولُواْ قَدْ أَخَذْنَا أَمْرَنَا مِن قَبْلُ وَيَتَوَلَّواْ وَّهُمْ فَرِحُونَ

50.             In tusibka hasanatun tasuhum wain tusibka museebatun yaqooloo qad akhathna amrana min qablu wayatawallaw wahum farihoona
A good comes to you then it grieves them and (if) any calamity comes to you then turning their faces (they) return happily and keep saying that it was good that we had already taken care of our matters.

قُل لَّن يُصِيبَنَا إِلاَّ مَا كَتَبَ اللّهُ لَنَا هُوَ مَوْلاَنَا وَعَلَى اللّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ

51.             Qul lan yuseebana illa ma kataba Allahu lana huwa mawlana waAAala Allahi falyatawakkali almuminoona
Tell them: "Nothing (bad or good) ever comes to us except what Allâh has ordained for us.  Allâh Alone is our helper and protector (Maulâ), and the people with Faith should put their trust in HIM."

قُلْ هَلْ تَرَبَّصُونَ بِنَا إِلاَّ إِحْدَى الْحُسْنَيَيْنِ وَنَحْنُ نَتَرَبَّصُ بِكُمْ أَن يُصِيبَكُمُ اللّهُ بِعَذَابٍ مِّنْ عِندِهِ أَوْ بِأَيْدِينَا فَتَرَبَّصُواْ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّتَرَبِّصُونَ

52.             Qul hal tarabbasoona bina illa ihda alhusnayayni wanahnu natarabbasu bikum an yuseebakumu Allahu biAAathabin min AAindihi aw biaydeena fatarabbasoo inna maAAakum mutarabbisoona
Tell them: "A thing for which you are waiting for us what else it can be except one good from the two good things (martyrdom or victory).  And what we are waiting for you is that whether Allâh HIMSELF punishes you or by our hands?  Well, now you wait and we are also waiting with you."

قُلْ أَنفِقُواْ طَوْعًا أَوْ كَرْهًا لَّن يُتَقَبَّلَ مِنكُمْ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا فَاسِقِينَ

53.             Qul anfiqoo tawAAan aw karhan lan yutaqabbala minkum innakum kuntum qawman fasiqeena
Tell them: "Whether you spend your wealth willingly or unwillingly, in any case it will not be accepted -- because you are rebellious people (Fâsiqûn).

وَمَا مَنَعَهُمْ أَن تُقْبَلَ مِنْهُمْ نَفَقَاتُهُمْ إِلاَّ أَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُواْ بِاللّهِ وَبِرَسُولِهِ وَلاَ يَأْتُونَ الصَّلاَةَ إِلاَّ وَهُمْ كُسَالَى وَلاَ يُنفِقُونَ إِلاَّ وَهُمْ كَارِهُونَ

54.             Wama manaAAahum an tuqbala minhum nafaqatuhum illa annahum kafaroo biAllahi wabirasoolihi wala yatoona alssalata illa wahum kusala wala yunfiqoona illa wahum karihoona
There is no other reason that their given charities are not being accepted, except this that they have committed infidelity (Kufr) with Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), if they come for prayer (As-Salât) they come reluctantly and if they spend in the path of Allâh they spend it unwillingly.

فَلاَ تُعْجِبْكَ أَمْوَالُهُمْ وَلاَ أَوْلاَدُهُمْ إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللّهُ لِيُعَذِّبَهُم بِهَا فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَتَزْهَقَ أَنفُسُهُمْ وَهُمْ كَافِرُونَ

55.             Fala tuAAjibka amwaluhum wala awladuhum innama yureedu Allahu liyuAAaththibahum biha fee alhayati alddunya watazhaqa anfusuhum wahum kafiroona
Do not be deceived (beguiled) by their properties and a large number of their children, Allâh Wants to afflict them with punishment in this worldly life by these things and that if they die then they die in the state of denying the truth.

وَيَحْلِفُونَ بِاللّهِ إِنَّهُمْ لَمِنكُمْ وَمَا هُم مِّنكُمْ وَلَـكِنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ يَفْرَقُونَ

56.             Wayahlifoona biAllahi innahum laminkum wama hum minkum walakinnahum qawmun yafraqoona
They swear by Allâh and say that we are from among you, whereas they are not from among you at all.  In fact they are such people who are scared from you.

لَوْ يَجِدُونَ مَلْجَأً أَوْ مَغَارَاتٍ أَوْ مُدَّخَلاً لَّوَلَّوْاْ إِلَيْهِ وَهُمْ يَجْمَحُونَ

57.             Law yajidoona maljaan aw magharatin aw muddakhalan lawallaw ilayhi wahum yajmahoona
If they find any place of protection (refuge) or any cave or a hiding-place, then they run and hide in it.

وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَلْمِزُكَ فِي الصَّدَقَاتِ فَإِنْ أُعْطُواْ مِنْهَا رَضُواْ وَإِن لَّمْ يُعْطَوْاْ مِنهَا إِذَا هُمْ يَسْخَطُونَ

58.             Waminhum man yalmizuka fee alssadaqati fain oAAtoo minha radoo wain lam yuAAtaw minha itha hum yaskhatoona
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), there are some people among them who criticize you in the distribution of the alms (Sadaqâts), if something from it is given to them then they become happy, and if nothing is given then they become angry.

وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ رَضُوْاْ مَا آتَاهُمُ اللّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ وَقَالُواْ حَسْبُنَا اللّهُ سَيُؤْتِينَا اللّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِ وَرَسُولُهُ إِنَّا إِلَى اللّهِ رَاغِبُونَ

59.             Walaw annahum radoo ma atahumu Allahu warasooluhu waqaloo hasbuna Allahu sayuteena Allahu min fadlihi warasooluhu inna ila Allahi raghiboona
What a good it be that whatever Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) had given to them they would had remained content on it and said: "Allâh is Sufficient for us, HE will give us much more from HIS Bounties and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) will also bless us, we are only looking towards Allâh Alone." (R) 13

إِنَّمَا الصَّدَقَاتُ لِلْفُقَرَاء وَالْمَسَاكِينِ وَالْعَامِلِينَ عَلَيْهَا وَالْمُؤَلَّفَةِ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَفِي الرِّقَابِ وَالْغَارِمِينَ وَفِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ وَابْنِ السَّبِيلِ فَرِيضَةً مِّنَ اللّهِ وَاللّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ

60.             Innama alssadaqatu lilfuqarai waalmasakeeni waalAAamileena AAalayha waalmuallafati quloobuhum wafee alrriqabi waalgharimeena wafee sabeeli Allahi waibni alssabeeli fareedatan mina Allahi waAllahu AAaleemun hakeemun
These charities (As-Sadaqât) are in fact for the needy (Fuqarâ') and helpless (Al-Masâkîn) and for those people who are appointed at the task of charities (As-Sadaqât), and for those whose hearts need to be brought together.  In addition these are to be used for the ransoming of captives and in helping the debtors and in the Cause of Allâh and for hosting the wayfarer. This is an obligation from Allâh and Allâh is All-Knowing and All-Wise.

وَمِنْهُمُ الَّذِينَ يُؤْذُونَ النَّبِيَّ وَيِقُولُونَ هُوَ أُذُنٌ قُلْ أُذُنُ خَيْرٍ لَّكُمْ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللّهِ وَيُؤْمِنُ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّلَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ مِنكُمْ وَالَّذِينَ يُؤْذُونَ رَسُولَ اللّهِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

61.             Waminhumu allatheena yuthoona alnnabiyya wayaqooloona huwa othunun qul othunu khayrin lakum yuminu biAllahi wayuminu lilmumineena warahmatun lillatheena amanoo minkum waallatheena yuthoona rasoola Allahi lahum AAathabun aleemun
There are some people among them who hurt the Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) by their talks and say: "This person is inexperienced of listening."  Say: "He is like this for your betterment, he has Faith in Allâh and has trust on the people with Faith and (he) is absolutely blessing for those people who are trustworthy among you.  And those people who distress the Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) of Allâh there is painful punishment for them."

يَحْلِفُونَ بِاللّهِ لَكُمْ لِيُرْضُوكُمْ وَاللّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَحَقُّ أَن يُرْضُوهُ إِن كَانُواْ مُؤْمِنِينَ

62.             Yahlifoona biAllahi lakum liyurdookum waAllahu warasooluhu ahaqqu an yurdoohu in kanoo mumineena
These people swear before you in order to please you, whereas if they are believers then Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) has more right that they should worry to please them.

أَلَمْ يَعْلَمُواْ أَنَّهُ مَن يُحَادِدِ اللّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَأَنَّ لَهُ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدًا فِيهَا ذَلِكَ الْخِزْيُ الْعَظِيمُ

63.             Alam yaAAlamoo annahu man yuhadidi Allaha warasoolahu faanna lahu nara           jahannama khalidan feeha thalika alkhizyu alAAatheemu
Don’t they know that whoever opposes Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam); there is Hell-Fire for him/her where he/she will stay forever?  That is the worst humiliation.

يَحْذَرُ الْمُنَافِقُونَ أَن تُنَزَّلَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُورَةٌ تُنَبِّئُهُمْ بِمَا فِي قُلُوبِهِم قُلِ اسْتَهْزِؤُواْ إِنَّ اللّهَ مُخْرِجٌ مَّا تَحْذَرُونَ

64.             Yahtharu almunafiqoona an tunazzala AAalayhim sooratun tunabbiohum bima fee quloobihim quli istahzioo inna Allaha mukhrijun ma tahtharoona
These hypocrites are scared that somewhere such Sûrah (chapter of Al-Qur'ân) should not reveal on Muslims which opens up the secrets of their hearts.  O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), tell them: "Make joke of it, Allâh is going to open that thing for which you are scared to be opened."

وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُمْ لَيَقُولُنَّ إِنَّمَا كُنَّا نَخُوضُ وَنَلْعَبُ قُلْ أَبِاللّهِ وَآيَاتِهِ وَرَسُولِهِ كُنتُمْ تَسْتَهْزِؤُونَ

65.             Walain saaltahum layaqoolunna innama kunna nakhoodu wanalAAabu qul abiAllahi waayatihi warasoolihi kuntum tastahzioona
If (you) ask them that what you were talking about, then they will immediately say that we were only joking and having some fun.  Ask them: "Were you having fun and joking at Allâh and HIS Revelation (Ayât) and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam)?

لاَ تَعْتَذِرُواْ قَدْ كَفَرْتُم بَعْدَ إِيمَانِكُمْ إِن نَّعْفُ عَن طَآئِفَةٍ مِّنكُمْ نُعَذِّبْ طَآئِفَةً بِأَنَّهُمْ كَانُواْ مُجْرِمِينَ

66.             La taAAtathiroo qad kafartum baAAda eemanikum in naAAfu AAan taifatin minkum nuAAaththib taifatan biannahum kanoo mujrimeena
Now do not make excuses.  You have committed infidelity (Kufr) after embracing Faith.  If WE forgave one group among you even then WE will surely punish other group because they are criminals (Mujrimûn). (R) 14

الْمُنَافِقُونَ وَالْمُنَافِقَاتُ بَعْضُهُم مِّن بَعْضٍ يَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمُنكَرِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَقْبِضُونَ أَيْدِيَهُمْ نَسُواْ اللّهَ فَنَسِيَهُمْ إِنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ هُمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ

67.             Almunafiqoona waalmunafiqatu baAAduhum min baAAdin yamuroona bialmunkari wayanhawna AAani almaAAroofi wayaqbidoona aydiyahum nasoo Allaha fanasiyahum inna almunafiqeena humu alfasiqoona
The hypocrite men and hypocrite women all are similar to each other.  They enjoin for evil (Al-Munkar) and forbid from righteousness (Al-Ma'rûf) and keep withholding their hands from righteousness.  They forgot Allâh then Allâh also forgot them.  Certainly these hypocrites are the rebellious (Fâsiqûn).

وَعَدَ الله الْمُنَافِقِينَ وَالْمُنَافِقَاتِ وَالْكُفَّارَ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا هِيَ حَسْبُهُمْ وَلَعَنَهُمُ اللّهُ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّقِيمٌ

68.             WaAAada Allahu almunafiqeena waalmunafiqati waalkuffara nara jahannama khalideena feeha hiya hasbuhum walaAAanahumu Allahu walahum AAathabun muqeemun
Allâh has promised the Fire of Hell for these hypocrites men and women and the infidels (Kafir) where they will stay forever, which is right (place) for them.  The Curse of Allâh is on them and there is lasting punishment for them--

كَالَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ كَانُواْ أَشَدَّ مِنكُمْ قُوَّةً وَأَكْثَرَ أَمْوَالاً وَأَوْلاَدًا فَاسْتَمْتَعُواْ بِخَلاقِهِمْ فَاسْتَمْتَعْتُم بِخَلاَقِكُمْ كَمَا اسْتَمْتَعَ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ بِخَلاَقِهِمْ وَخُضْتُمْ كَالَّذِي خَاضُواْ أُوْلَـئِكَ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَالُهُمْ فِي الُّدنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ وَأُوْلَئِكَ هُمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ

69.             Kaallatheena min qablikum kanoo ashadda minkum quwwatan waakthara amwalan waawladan faistamtaAAoo bikhalaqihim faistamtaAAtum bikhalaqikum kama istamtaAAa allatheena min qablikum bikhalaqihim wakhudtum kaallathee khadoo olaika habitat aAAmaluhum fee alddunya waalakhirati waolaika humu alkhasiroona
Your behaviors are just like those who were before you.  They were more powerful than you and were wealthier and had more children.  Then they enjoyed the share of their enjoyment of this worldly life and you also enjoyed the share of your enjoyment in the same way as they had enjoyed, and you also indulged in same type of discussions the same discussions they had involved, so their end was that all their deeds were wasted in this world as well as in the hereafter and they are the losers--

أَلَمْ يَأْتِهِمْ نَبَأُ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ قَوْمِ نُوحٍ وَعَادٍ وَثَمُودَ وَقَوْمِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وِأَصْحَابِ مَدْيَنَ وَالْمُؤْتَفِكَاتِ أَتَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ فَمَا كَانَ اللّهُ لِيَظْلِمَهُمْ وَلَـكِن كَانُواْ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ

70.             Alam yatihim nabao allatheena min qablihim qawmi noohin waAAadin wathamooda waqawmi ibraheema waashabi madyana waalmutafikati atathum rusuluhum bialbayyinati fama kana Allahu liyathlimahum walakin kanoo anfusahum yathlimoona
Have these people not received the history of those who were before them?  The nation of Nûh, 'Ad, Thamûd, the nation of Ibrâhim, the people of Madyan (Midian) and those cities which were overthrown.  Their Rasools came to them with open signs, then it was not for Allâh to do any unjust to them but they themselves had done unjust to their own souls.

وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتُ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاء بَعْضٍ يَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ وَيُقِيمُونَ الصَّلاَةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَاةَ وَيُطِيعُونَ اللّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ أُوْلَـئِكَ سَيَرْحَمُهُمُ اللّهُ إِنَّ اللّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ

71.             Waalmuminoona waalmuminatu baAAduhum awliyao baAAdin yamuroona bialmaAAroofi wayanhawna AAani almunkari wayuqeemoona alssalata wayutoona alzzakata wayuteeAAoona Allaha warasoolahu olaika sayarhamuhumu Allahu inna Allaha AAazeezun hakeemun
The believer men and the believer women, they all are companions (Auliyâ') of one another, they enjoin for righteousness (Al-Ma'rûf) and forbid from evil deeds (Al-Munkar), establish prayer (Salât) and pay the poor-dues (Zakât) and obey Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).  These are those people on whom Allâh will surely have HIS Mercy; certainly Allâh has Authority over everything and is All-Wise.

وَعَدَ اللّهُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا وَمَسَاكِنَ طَيِّبَةً فِي جَنَّاتِ عَدْنٍ وَرِضْوَانٌ مِّنَ اللّهِ أَكْبَرُ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ

72.             WaAAada Allahu almumineena waalmuminati jannatin tajree min tahtiha alanharu khalideena feeha wamasakina tayyibatan fee jannati AAadnin waridwanun mina Allahi akbaru thalika huwa alfawzu alAAatheemu
It is a promise of Allâh with these believer men and women that (HE) will give them such gardens underneath which canals will be flowing and they will stay there forever. There will be beautiful mansions for them in those everlasting gardens, and above all they will have the pleasure of Allâh.  This is the ultimate success. (R) 15

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ جَاهِدِ الْكُفَّارَ وَالْمُنَافِقِينَ وَاغْلُظْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَمَأْوَاهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ وَبِئْسَ الْمَصِيرُ

73.             Ya ayyuha alnnabiyyu jahidi alkuffara waalmunafiqeena waoghluth AAalayhim wamawahum jahannamu wabisa almaseeru
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), encounter against these infidels (Kafir) and the hypocrites with full strength and be hard on them.  Eventually their destination is Hell-Fire and that is the worst place to rest (stay).

يَحْلِفُونَ بِاللّهِ مَا قَالُواْ وَلَقَدْ قَالُواْ كَلِمَةَ الْكُفْرِ وَكَفَرُواْ بَعْدَ إِسْلاَمِهِمْ وَهَمُّواْ بِمَا لَمْ يَنَالُواْ وَمَا نَقَمُواْ إِلاَّ أَنْ أَغْنَاهُمُ اللّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ مِن فَضْلِهِ فَإِن يَتُوبُواْ يَكُ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ وَإِن يَتَوَلَّوْا يُعَذِّبْهُمُ اللّهُ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ وَمَا لَهُمْ فِي الأَرْضِ مِن وَلِيٍّ وَلاَ نَصِيرٍ

74.             Yahlifoona biAllahi ma qaloo walaqad qaloo kalimata alkufri wakafaroo baAAda islamihim wahammoo bima lam yanaloo wama naqamoo illa an aghnahumu Allahu warasooluhu min fadlihi fain yatooboo yaku khayran lahum wain yatawallaw yuAAaththibhumu Allahu AAathaban aleeman fee alddunya waalakhirati wama lahum fee alardi min waliyyin wala naseerin
These people swear by Allâh and say that they have not said that thing, whereas they certainly have said the word of unbelief.  They committed infidelity (Kufr) after accepting Islâm and they plan to do that which they could not do.  Their anger is for the reason that Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) have enriched them with their Bounties!  Now if they desist from their behavior then it is better for them, and if they do not repent then Allâh will give them severe punishment, in this world as well as in the hereafter, and there is no one on the earth who could be their helper and protector.

وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ عَاهَدَ اللّهَ لَئِنْ آتَانَا مِن فَضْلِهِ لَنَصَّدَّقَنَّ وَلَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ

75.             Waminhum man AAahada Allaha lain atana min fadlihi lanassaddaqanna walanakoonanna mina alssaliheena
There are some (people) among them who had promised with Allâh that if HE awards us with HIS Bounty then we will give charity (Sadaqâh) and will live righteously.

فَلَمَّا آتَاهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِ بَخِلُواْ بِهِ وَتَوَلَّواْ وَّهُم مُّعْرِضُونَ

76.             Falamma atahum min fadlihi bakhiloo bihi watawallaw wahum muAAridoona
But when Allâh enriched them with HIS Bounty then they became misers and they backed-out from their promise in such a way that they even do not care for it.

فَأَعْقَبَهُمْ نِفَاقًا فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ إِلَى يَوْمِ يَلْقَوْنَهُ بِمَا أَخْلَفُواْ اللّهَ مَا وَعَدُوهُ وَبِمَا كَانُواْ يَكْذِبُونَ

77.             FaaAAqabahum nifaqan fee quloobihim ila yawmi yalqawnahu bima akhlafoo Allaha ma waAAadoohu wabima kanoo yakthiboona
Consequently, because of their breach of promise with Allâh and the lies which they have been uttering, Allâh Caused to dwell hypocrisy in their hearts which will not leave them till the Day when they will be brought before HIM.

أَلَمْ يَعْلَمُواْ أَنَّ اللّهَ يَعْلَمُ سِرَّهُمْ وَنَجْوَاهُمْ وَأَنَّ اللّهَ عَلاَّمُ الْغُيُوبِ

78.             Alam yaAAlamoo anna Allaha yaAAlamu sirrahum wanajwahum waanna Allaha AAallamu alghuyoobi
Do these people not know that Allâh Knows their close secrets and even their secret whispering and HE is fully and well aware of all the hidden things (unseen)?

الَّذِينَ يَلْمِزُونَ الْمُطَّوِّعِينَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِي الصَّدَقَاتِ وَالَّذِينَ لاَ يَجِدُونَ إِلاَّ جُهْدَهُمْ فَيَسْخَرُونَ مِنْهُمْ سَخِرَ اللّهُ مِنْهُمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

79.             Allatheena yalmizoona almuttawwiAAeena mina almumineena fee alssadaqati waallatheena la yajidoona illa juhdahum fayaskharoona minhum sakhira Allahu minhum walahum AAathabun aleemun
(HE Knows very well those miser rich people) Who ridicule the believers who willingly give monetary sacrifices and also make joke of those people who do not have anything (to give in the path of Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala) except it which they give bearing the hardship on their own souls (sacrificing their own needs).  Allâh ridicules those jokers and there is severe punishment for them.

اسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ أَوْ لاَ تَسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ إِن تَسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ سَبْعِينَ مَرَّةً فَلَن يَغْفِرَ اللّهُ لَهُمْ ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُواْ بِاللّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَاللّهُ لاَ يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْفَاسِقِينَ

80.             Istaghfir lahum aw la tastaghfir lahum in tastaghfir lahum sabAAeena marratan falan yaghfira Allahu lahum thalika biannahum kafaroo biAllahi warasoolihi waAllahu la yahdee alqawma alfasiqeena
O Prophet (Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), whether you ask for the forgiveness of such people or not, if you will ask seventy times for their forgiveness even then Allâh will never forgive them.  Because they have committed infidelity (Kufr) with Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and Allâh does not show the path of salvation to the rebellious people (Fâsiqûn). (R) 16

فَرِحَ الْمُخَلَّفُونَ بِمَقْعَدِهِمْ خِلاَفَ رَسُولِ اللّهِ وَكَرِهُواْ أَن يُجَاهِدُواْ بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ وَقَالُواْ لاَ تَنفِرُواْ فِي الْحَرِّ قُلْ نَارُ جَهَنَّمَ أَشَدُّ حَرًّا لَّوْ كَانُوا يَفْقَهُونَ

81.             Fariha almukhallafoona bimaqAAadihim khilafa rasooli Allahi wakarihoo an yujahidoo biamwalihim waanfusihim fee sabeeli Allahi waqaloo la tanfiroo fee alharri qul naru jahannama ashaddu harran law kanoo yafqahoona
Those people who were allowed to remain behind (in battle of Tabuk) they were glad to sit home and not to support the Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) of Allâh and they did not like to fight (do Jihad) with their lives and properties in the Path of Allâh.  They said to the people that: "Do not go out in this scorching heat."  Tell them that the Fire of Hell is much more scorching than it, would that they had the sense of it.

فَلْيَضْحَكُواْ قَلِيلاً وَلْيَبْكُواْ كَثِيرًا جَزَاء بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكْسِبُونَ

82.             Falyadhakoo qaleelan walyabkoo katheeran jazaan bima kanoo yaksiboona
Now it should be that these people laugh little and cry more, because the evil they have been earning -- its recompense is such (that they should cry on it).

فَإِن رَّجَعَكَ اللّهُ إِلَى طَآئِفَةٍ مِّنْهُمْ فَاسْتَأْذَنُوكَ لِلْخُرُوجِ فَقُل لَّن تَخْرُجُواْ مَعِيَ أَبَدًا وَلَن تُقَاتِلُواْ مَعِيَ عَدُوًّا إِنَّكُمْ رَضِيتُم بِالْقُعُودِ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ فَاقْعُدُواْ مَعَ الْخَالِفِينَ

83.             Fain rajaAAaka Allahu ila taifatin minhum faistathanooka lilkhurooji faqul lan takhrujoo maAAiya abadan walan tuqatiloo maAAiya AAaduwwan innakum radeetum bialquAAoodi awwala marratin faoqAAudoo maAAa alkhalifeena
If Allâh brings you back among them and in future any group among them seeks your permission to go out to fight (do Jihâd) then clearly say: "Now you cannot go with me at all and nor can fight against any enemy in my company, before you liked to sit (home) then now sit with those who are sitting at home."

وَلاَ تُصَلِّ عَلَى أَحَدٍ مِّنْهُم مَّاتَ أَبَدًا وَلاَ تَقُمْ عَلَىَ قَبْرِهِ إِنَّهُمْ كَفَرُواْ بِاللّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَمَاتُواْ وَهُمْ فَاسِقُونَ

84.             Wala tusalli AAala ahadin minhum mata abadan wala taqum AAala qabrihi innahum kafaroo biAllahi warasoolihi wamatoo wahum fasiqoona
And in future whoever dies among them (hypocrites) -- you (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) should never offer his/her funeral prayer and nor ever stand at his/her grave, because they have committed infidelity (Kufr) with Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and they have died while they were rebellious (Fâsiqûn).

وَلاَ تُعْجِبْكَ أَمْوَالُهُمْ وَأَوْلاَدُهُمْ إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللّهُ أَن يُعَذِّبَهُم بِهَا فِي الدُّنْيَا وَتَزْهَقَ أَنفُسُهُمْ وَهُمْ كَافِرُونَ

85.             Wala tuAAjibka amwaluhum waawladuhum innama yureedu Allahu an yuAAaththibahum biha fee alddunya watazhaqa anfusuhum wahum kafiroona
Their wealth and their large number of children should not deceive you.  Allâh has intended to punish them with the same wealth and children in this world and their souls should be seized while they are infidels (Kafir).

وَإِذَآ أُنزِلَتْ سُورَةٌ أَنْ آمِنُواْ بِاللّهِ وَجَاهِدُواْ مَعَ رَسُولِهِ اسْتَأْذَنَكَ أُوْلُواْ الطَّوْلِ مِنْهُمْ وَقَالُواْ ذَرْنَا نَكُن مَّعَ الْقَاعِدِينَ

86.             Waitha onzilat sooratun an aminoo biAllahi wajahidoo maAAa rasoolihi istathanaka oloo alttawli minhum waqaloo tharna nakun maAAa alqaAAideena
Whenever any chapter (Sûrah) revealed on this topic that believe in Allâh and fight (do Jihâd) accompanying HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), then you saw that those people who were wealthy among them began to beg you that they should be excused to participate in the fight (Jihâd) and they said that leave us (behind) that we should remain with those who are sitting (at home).

رَضُواْ بِأَن يَكُونُواْ مَعَ الْخَوَالِفِ وَطُبِعَ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ فَهُمْ لاَ يَفْقَهُونَ

87.             Radoo bian yakoonoo maAAa alkhawalifi watubiAAa AAala quloobihim fahum la yafqahoona
These people liked to be included with those (women) who sit home and their hearts were sealed, so this is why they do not understand anything.

لَـكِنِ الرَّسُولُ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ مَعَهُ جَاهَدُواْ بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ وَأُوْلَـئِكَ لَهُمُ الْخَيْرَاتُ وَأُوْلَـئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ

88.             Lakini alrrasoolu waallatheena amanoo maAAahu jahadoo biamwalihim waanfusihim waolaika lahumu alkhayratu waolaika humu almuflihoona
Contrary to it Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and those people who had brought Faith with Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) fought with their lives and wealth and now all the good things are for them and they are the ones who are going to be successful.

أَعَدَّ اللّهُ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا ذَلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ

89.             aAAadda Allahu lahum jannatin tajree min tahtiha alanharu khalideena feeha thalika alfawzu alAAatheemu
Allâh has prepared such gardens for them underneath which the canals are flowing; they will remain in it forever.  This is the supreme success. (R) 17

وَجَاء الْمُعَذِّرُونَ مِنَ الأَعْرَابِ لِيُؤْذَنَ لَهُمْ وَقَعَدَ الَّذِينَ كَذَبُواْ اللّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ سَيُصِيبُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنْهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

90.             Wajaa almuAAaththiroona mina alaAArabi liyuthana lahum waqaAAada allatheena kathaboo Allaha warasoolahu sayuseebu allatheena kafaroo minhum AAathabun aleemun
Many people among the Bedouins Arabs (Arabs who live in desert) also came who made excuses so that they also should be granted permission to stay behind.  This way those people remained sitting (at home) who had made false promises of Faith with Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).  Among these Bedouins those people who have adopted the way of infidelity (Kufr) soon they will suffer painful punishment.

لَّيْسَ عَلَى الضُّعَفَاء وَلاَ عَلَى الْمَرْضَى وَلاَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ لاَ يَجِدُونَ مَا يُنفِقُونَ حَرَجٌ إِذَا نَصَحُواْ لِلّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ مَا عَلَى الْمُحْسِنِينَ مِن سَبِيلٍ وَاللّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

91.             Laysa AAala aldduAAafai wala AAala almarda wala AAala allatheena la yajidoona ma yunfiqoona harajun itha nasahoo lillahi warasoolihi ma AAala almuhsineena min sabeelin waAllahu ghafoorun raheemun
There is no harm, if those people who are weak and ill and those people who do not find resources to participate in fighting (Jihâd) stay behind while they are truly faithful with Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).  There is no room of any complaint against such righteous people (Muhsinûn), and Allâh is Forgiving and Most Loving.

وَلاَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ إِذَا مَا أَتَوْكَ لِتَحْمِلَهُمْ قُلْتَ لاَ أَجِدُ مَا أَحْمِلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ تَوَلَّواْ وَّأَعْيُنُهُمْ تَفِيضُ مِنَ الدَّمْعِ حَزَنًا أَلاَّ يَجِدُواْ مَا يُنفِقُونَ

92.             Wala AAala allatheena itha ma atawka litahmilahum qulta la ajidu ma ahmilukum AAalayhi tawallaw waaAAyunuhum tafeedu mina alddamAAi hazanan alla yajidoo ma yunfiqoona
The same way there is no blame on those people who came themselves to you and requested (you, Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) to provide them with horses (mounts), and when you said that I cannot arrange horses for you then they unwillingly turned back and their condition was such that tears were overflowing from their eyes and they had a great grief for this thing that they are not able to participate in fight (Jihâd) at their own expense.

إِنَّمَا السَّبِيلُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ يَسْتَأْذِنُونَكَ وَهُمْ أَغْنِيَاء رَضُواْ بِأَن يَكُونُواْ مَعَ الْخَوَالِفِ وَطَبَعَ اللّهُ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ فَهُمْ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ

93.             Innama alssabeelu AAala allatheena yastathinoonaka wahum aghniyao radoo bian yakoonoo maAAa alkhawalifi watabaAAa Allahu AAala quloobihim fahum la yaAAlamoona
However; the objection is against those people who are wealthy even then they request you that they should be excused from fighting (Jihâd).  They liked to be included with those (women) who sit home and Allâh has set a seal on their hearts, therefore now they do not know anything (that before Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala, what would be the consequence of their this behavior).
