بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمـَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi

(I) Begin with the Name of Allâh WHO is Most Loving and Most Merciful

قَالَ الْمَلأُ الَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُواْ مِن قَوْمِهِ لَنُخْرِجَنَّكَ يَا شُعَيْبُ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ مَعَكَ مِن قَرْيَتِنَا أَوْ لَتَعُودُنَّ فِي مِلَّتِنَا قَالَ أَوَلَوْ كُنَّا كَارِهِينَ

88.            Qala almalao allatheena istakbaroo min qawmihi lanukhrijannaka ya shuAAaybu waallatheena amanoo maAAaka min qaryatina aw lataAAoodunna fee millatina qala awa law kunna kariheena
The chiefs of his nation, who were involved in the pride of their greatness, said to him: "O Shu'aib, we shall expel you and those people who have brought Faith with you from our town otherwise you people have to come back to our nation (creed)."  Shu'aib responded: "Shall we be forced to turn back even if we do not agree? 

قَدِ افْتَرَيْنَا عَلَى اللّهِ كَذِبًا إِنْ عُدْنَا فِي مِلَّتِكُم بَعْدَ إِذْ نَجَّانَا اللّهُ مِنْهَا وَمَا يَكُونُ لَنَا أَن نَّعُودَ فِيهَا إِلاَّ أَن يَشَاء اللّهُ رَبُّنَا وَسِعَ رَبُّنَا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ عِلْمًا عَلَى اللّهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا رَبَّنَا افْتَحْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ قَوْمِنَا بِالْحَقِّ وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الْفَاتِحِينَ

89.            Qadi iftarayna AAala Allahi kathiban in AAudna fee millatikum baAAda ith najjana Allahu minha wama yakoonu lana an naAAooda feeha illa an yashaa Allahu rabbuna wasiAAa rabbuna kulla shayin AAilman AAala Allahi tawakkalna rabbana iftah baynana wabayna qawmina bialhaqqi waanta khayru alfatiheena
If we return to your nation then we would be the inventors of lie against Allâh -- while Allâh has liberated us from it.  It is not possible for us in anyway to return to it unless Allâh our Râbb Wants so.  The Knowledge of our Râbb is prevailing over everything; we have put our trust in HIM.  O Râbb decide between us and our people in truth and YOU are the best decision maker."

وَقَالَ الْمَلأُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن قَوْمِهِ لَئِنِ اتَّبَعْتُمْ شُعَيْباً إِنَّكُمْ إِذاً لَّخَاسِرُونَ

90.            Waqala almalao allatheena kafaroo min qawmihi laini ittabaAAtum shuAAayban innakum ithan lakhasiroona
The chiefs of his nation, who had refused to accept his message said to each other: "If you accepted to follow Shu'aib then you will be destroyed."

فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الرَّجْفَةُ فَأَصْبَحُواْ فِي دَارِهِمْ جَاثِمِينَ

91.            Faakhathathumu alrrajfatu faasbahoo fee darihim jathimeena
But in fact a shocking calamity seized them and they remained lying face down in their homes.

الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ شُعَيْبًا كَأَن لَّمْ يَغْنَوْاْ فِيهَا الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ شُعَيْبًا كَانُواْ هُمُ الْخَاسِرِينَ

92.            Allatheena kaththaboo shuAAayban kaan lam yaghnaw feeha allatheena kaththaboo shuAAayban kanoo humu alkhasireena
Those people who denied Shu'aib they were destroyed in such a way that if they had never lived in those homes. Eventually the deniers of Shu'aib were destroyed.

فَتَوَلَّى عَنْهُمْ وَقَالَ يَا قَوْمِ لَقَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكُمْ رِسَالاَتِ رَبِّي وَنَصَحْتُ لَكُمْ فَكَيْفَ آسَى عَلَى قَوْمٍ كَافِرِينَ

93.            Fatawalla AAanhum waqala ya qawmi laqad ablaghtukum risalati rabbee wanasahtu lakum fakayfa asa AAala qawmin kafireena
And Shu'aib left their town saying: "O people of my town, I conveyed the messages of my Râbb to you and fulfilled the right to be your well-wisher.  Now how I grieve for that nation which refuses to accept the Truth." (R) 1

وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا فِي قَرْيَةٍ مِّن نَّبِيٍّ إِلاَّ أَخَذْنَا أَهْلَهَا بِالْبَأْسَاء وَالضَّرَّاء لَعَلَّهُمْ يَضَّرَّعُونَ

94.           Wama arsalna fee qaryatin min nabiyyin illa akhathna ahlaha bialbasai waalddarrai laAAallahum yaddarraAAoona
It never happened that WE sent a Prophet to any town and first did not put its people in adversity and hardship, so that they might become humble.

ثُمَّ بَدَّلْنَا مَكَانَ السَّيِّئَةِ الْحَسَنَةَ حَتَّى عَفَواْ وَّقَالُواْ قَدْ مَسَّ آبَاءنَا الضَّرَّاء وَالسَّرَّاء فَأَخَذْنَاهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لاَ يَشْعُرُونَ

95.           Thumma baddalna makana alssayyiati alhasanata hatta AAafaw waqaloo qad massa abaana alddarrao waalssarrao faakhathnahum baghtatan wahum la yashAAuroona
Then WE changed their adversity with prosperity and they became very prosperous and start saying: "The prosperity and adversity has also been afflicting our forefathers." Finally WE suddenly caught them and they could not know it.

وَلَوْ أَنَّ أَهْلَ الْقُرَى آمَنُواْ وَاتَّقَواْ لَفَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِم بَرَكَاتٍ مِّنَ السَّمَاء وَالأَرْضِ وَلَـكِن كَذَّبُواْ فَأَخَذْنَاهُم بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكْسِبُونَ

96.           Walaw anna ahla alqura amanoo waittaqaw lafatahna AAalayhim barakatin mina alssamai waalardi walakin kaththaboo faakhathnahum bima kanoo yaksiboona
If the people of the towns have believed and have adopted the ways of piety (Taqwâ) then WE should have opened the doors of blessings on them from the heaven and the earth but they denied, so WE caught them on the account of that evil which they were accumulating.

أَفَأَمِنَ أَهْلُ الْقُرَى أَن يَأْتِيَهُمْ بَأْسُنَا بَيَاتاً وَهُمْ نَآئِمُونَ

97.           Afaamina ahlu alqura an yatiyahum basuna bayatan wahum naimoona
Have then now the people of the towns become fearless from it that OUR Punishment will not ever suddenly come on them at nighttime while they are sleeping?

أَوَ أَمِنَ أَهْلُ الْقُرَى أَن يَأْتِيَهُمْ بَأْسُنَا ضُحًى وَهُمْ يَلْعَبُونَ

98.           Awa amina ahlu alqura an yatiyahum basuna duhan wahum yalAAaboona
Or, they are satisfied that OUR strong Hand (grip) will not ever suddenly seize them during the day while they are playing?

أَفَأَمِنُواْ مَكْرَ اللّهِ فَلاَ يَأْمَنُ مَكْرَ اللّهِ إِلاَّ الْقَوْمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ

99.           Afaaminoo makra Allahi fala yamanu makra Allahi illa alqawmu alkhasiroona
Are these people fearless from the Plan of Allâh?  Whereas only that nation becomes fearless from the Plan of Allâh which is to be destroyed. (R) 2

أَوَلَمْ يَهْدِ لِلَّذِينَ يَرِثُونَ الأَرْضَ مِن بَعْدِ أَهْلِهَا أَن لَّوْ نَشَاء أَصَبْنَاهُم بِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَنَطْبَعُ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ فَهُمْ لاَ يَسْمَعُونَ

100.        Awa lam yahdi lillatheena yarithoona alarda min baAAdi ahliha an law nashao asabnahum bithunoobihim wanatbaAAu AAala quloobihim fahum la yasmaAAoona
And has this fact not given any lesson to those people, who inherited the earth after its previous occupants, that if WE Want WE can seize them on their sins?  (But they ignore the realities that teaches them lesson) And WE seal their hearts (and) then they do not hear anything.

تِلْكَ الْقُرَى نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ أَنبَآئِهَا وَلَقَدْ جَاءتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ فَمَا كَانُواْ لِيُؤْمِنُواْ بِمَا كَذَّبُواْ مِن قَبْلُ كَذَلِكَ يَطْبَعُ اللّهُ عَلَىَ قُلُوبِ الْكَافِرِينَ

101.        Tilka alqura naqussu AAalayka min anbaiha walaqad jaathum rusuluhum bialbayyinati fama kanoo liyuminoo bima kaththaboo min qablu kathalika yatbaAAu Allahu AAala quloobi alkafireena
These nations whose stories WE are telling you (as an example they were present before you) their Rasools came to them with an open and clear proofs, but what they had denied once then they were not going to accept it.  Look this is how WE seal the hearts of deniers of truth.

وَمَا وَجَدْنَا لأَكْثَرِهِم مِّنْ عَهْدٍ وَإِن وَجَدْنَا أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَفَاسِقِينَ

102.        Wama wajadna liaktharihim min AAahdin wain wajadna aktharahum lafasiqeena
WE did not find any commitment of the promise among the majority of them rather WE found the majority as rebellious (Fâsiqûn).

ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَا مِن بَعْدِهِم مُّوسَى بِآيَاتِنَا إِلَى فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَئِهِ فَظَلَمُواْ بِهَا فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُفْسِدِينَ

103.         Thumma baAAathna min baAAdihim moosa biayatina ila firAAawna wamalaihi fathalamoo biha faonuthur kayfa kana AAaqibatu almufsideena
Then after those nations (which are mentioned above) WE sent Mûsa with OUR Signs to Fir'aun and the leaders of his nation.  But they also did cruelty with OUR Signs; so see -- what was the end result of those mischief-makers (Mufsidûn).

وَقَالَ مُوسَى يَا فِرْعَوْنُ إِنِّي رَسُولٌ مِّن رَّبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

104.         Waqala moosa ya firAAawnu innee rasoolun min rabbi alAAalameena
Mûsa said: "O Fir'aun, I am sent by the Râbb of the world (Râbb-ul-'Alamîn),

حَقِيقٌ عَلَى أَن لاَّ أَقُولَ عَلَى اللّهِ إِلاَّ الْحَقَّ قَدْ جِئْتُكُم بِبَيِّنَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ فَأَرْسِلْ مَعِيَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ

105.         Haqeequn AAala an la aqoola AAala Allahi illa alhaqqa qad jitukum bibayyinatin min rabbikum faarsil maAAiya banee israeela
My duty is that I should not say anything with the name of Allâh except Truth, I have come to you from your Râbb with clear proofs of appointment -- therefore you send the Children of Israel with me."

قَالَ إِن كُنتَ جِئْتَ بِآيَةٍ فَأْتِ بِهَا إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ

106.         Qala in kunta jita biayatin fati biha in kunta mina alssadiqeena
Fir'aun said: "If you have brought any Sign and you are truthful in your saying then present it."

فَأَلْقَى عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ ثُعْبَانٌ مُّبِينٌ

107.         Faalqa AAasahu faitha hiya thuAAbanun mubeenun
Mûsa threw his staff (stick) and all of sudden it was (changed to) alive dragon.

وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ بَيْضَاء لِلنَّاظِرِينَ    

108.         WanazaAAa yadahu faitha hiya baydao lilnnathireena
He drew out hand from his pocket and it was shinning before all the spectators. (R) 3

قَالَ الْمَلأُ مِن قَوْمِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّ هَـذَا لَسَاحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ

109.         Qala almalao min qawmi firAAawna inna hatha lasahirun AAaleemun
On this the leaders of the nation of Fir'aun said to each other: "Certainly this person is an expert magician,

يُرِيدُ أَن يُخْرِجَكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُمْ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ

110.         Yureedu an yukhrijakum min ardikum famatha tamuroona
(he) wants to expel you from your land, now say what you say"?

قَالُواْ أَرْجِهْ وَأَخَاهُ وَأَرْسِلْ فِي الْمَدَآئِنِ حَاشِرِينَ

111.         Qaloo arjih waakhahu waarsil fee almadaini hashireena
Then they all suggested to Fir’aun that make him and his brother to wait and send out messengers to all cities

يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَاحِرٍ عَلِيمٍ

112.         Yatooka bikulli sahirin AAaleemin
To bring every expert magician to you.

وَجَاء السَّحَرَةُ فِرْعَوْنَ قَالْواْ إِنَّ لَنَا لأَجْرًا إِن كُنَّا نَحْنُ الْغَالِبِينَ

113.         Wajaa alssaharatu firAAawna qaloo inna lana laajran in kunna nahnu alghalibeena
Therefore the magicians came to Fir'aun.  They asked: "If we be the victorious then shall we get the reward for it?"

قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإَنَّكُمْ لَمِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ

114.         Qala naAAam wainnakum lamina almuqarrabeena
Fir’aun replied: "Yes, and you will get higher positions in the kingdom (will become special to me)."

قَالُواْ يَا مُوسَى إِمَّا أَن تُلْقِيَ وَإِمَّا أَن نَّكُونَ نَحْنُ الْمُلْقِينَ

115.          Qaloo ya moosa imma an tulqiya waimma an nakoona nahnu almulqeena
Then they asked Mûsa: "Do you want to throw or we throw?"

قَالَ أَلْقُوْاْ فَلَمَّا أَلْقَوْاْ سَحَرُواْ أَعْيُنَ النَّاسِ وَاسْتَرْهَبُوهُمْ وَجَاءوا بِسِحْرٍ عَظِيمٍ

116.          Qala alqoo falamma alqaw saharoo aAAyuna alnnasi waistarhaboohum wajaoo bisihrin AAatheemin
Mûsa replied:  "You throw."  They threw their devices and captivated the eyes and terrified the hearts and (they) brought (displayed) a great magic.

وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَى مُوسَى أَنْ أَلْقِ عَصَاكَ فَإِذَا هِيَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُونَ

117.          Waawhayna ila moosa an alqi AAasaka faitha hiya talqafu ma yafikoona
WE inspired Mûsa that throw your staff (stick).  As he threw then all of sudden it went on swallowing all their false magic.

فَوَقَعَ الْحَقُّ وَبَطَلَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَ

118.          FawaqaAAa alhaqqu wabatala ma kanoo yaAAmaloona
This way the truth was proved to be true and whatever they had made that remained as falsehoods.

فَغُلِبُواْ هُنَالِكَ وَانقَلَبُواْ صَاغِرِينَ

119.          Faghuliboo hunalika wainqalaboo saghireena
Fir’aun and his companions were defeated in this contest and were humiliated (instead of being victorious).

وَأُلْقِيَ السَّحَرَةُ سَاجِدِينَ

120.          Waolqiya alssaharatu sajideena
And the conditions of the magicians were -- as if something from inside made them to fell down in prostration.

قَالُواْ آمَنَّا بِرِبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

121.          Qaloo amanna birabbi alAAalameena
(They) Started saying: "We believe in the Râbb of the world ('Alamîn),

رَبِّ مُوسَى وَهَارُونَ

122.          Rabbi moosa waharoona
That Râbb WHOM Mûsa and Hârûn believe."

قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ آمَنتُم بِهِ قَبْلَ أَن آذَنَ لَكُمْ إِنَّ هَـذَا لَمَكْرٌ مَّكَرْتُمُوهُ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ لِتُخْرِجُواْ مِنْهَا أَهْلَهَا فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ

123.          Qala firAAawnu amantum bihi qabla an athana lakum inna hatha lamakrun makartumoohu fee almadeenati litukhrijoo minha ahlaha fasawfa taAAlamoona
Fir'aun said: "You brought Faith in him before it that I gave you permission?   Surely it was secret conspiracy, which you have plotted in this capital city so that you could evict its owners from the power.  Well now you will come to know the consequences of it.

لأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُم مِّنْ خِلاَفٍ ثُمَّ لأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ

124.          LaoqatiAAanna aydiyakum waarjulakum min khilafin thumma laosallibannakum ajmaAAeena
I will have your hands and feet cut-off on opposite sides and after this I will hang you all."

قَالُواْ إِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ

125.          Qaloo inna ila rabbina munqaliboona
They replied: "After all we have to return to our Râbb.

وَمَا تَنقِمُ مِنَّا إِلاَّ أَنْ آمَنَّا بِآيَاتِ رَبِّنَا لَمَّا جَاءتْنَا رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَتَوَفَّنَا مُسْلِمِينَ

126.          Wama tanqimu minna illa an amanna biayati rabbina lamma jaatna rabbana afrigh AAalayna sabran watawaffana muslimeena
The thing on which you want to take revenge from us is nothing but that when the Signs of our Râbb came before us we accepted it.  O Râbb, bless us with patience and take us from this world in the state while we are YOUR obedient (Muslims)." (R) 4

وَقَالَ الْمَلأُ مِن قَوْمِ فِرْعَونَ أَتَذَرُ مُوسَى وَقَوْمَهُ لِيُفْسِدُواْ فِي الأَرْضِ وَيَذَرَكَ وَآلِهَتَكَ قَالَ سَنُقَتِّلُ أَبْنَاءهُمْ وَنَسْتَحْيِـي نِسَاءهُمْ وَإِنَّا فَوْقَهُمْ قَاهِرُونَ

127.          Waqala almalao min qawmi firAAawna atatharu moosa waqawmahu liyufsidoo fee alardi wayatharaka waalihataka qala sanuqattilu abnaahum wanastahyee nisaahum wainna fawqahum qahiroona
The chiefs of Fir'aun's nation said to him: "Will you leave Mûsa and his people free to spread mischief in the land and they stop worshiping you and your deities?"  Fir’aun replied: "I will get their sons killed and will let their women live.  The grip of our rule is strong on them."

قَالَ مُوسَى لِقَوْمِهِ اسْتَعِينُوا بِاللّهِ وَاصْبِرُواْ إِنَّ الأَرْضَ لِلّهِ يُورِثُهَا مَن يَشَاء مِنْ عِبَادِهِ وَالْعَاقِبَةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ

128.          Qala moosa liqawmihi istaAAeenoo biAllahi waisbiroo inna alarda lillahi yoorithuha man yashao min AAibadihi waalAAaqibatu lilmuttaqeena
Mûsa said to his nation: "Seek help from Allâh and be patient, the earth belongs to Allâh from among HIS servants whom HE Pleases makes heirs of it, and final success is for those who fear HIM in their deeds (Muttaqûn)."

قَالُواْ أُوذِينَا مِن قَبْلِ أَن تَأْتِينَا وَمِن بَعْدِ مَا جِئْتَنَا قَالَ عَسَى رَبُّكُمْ أَن يُهْلِكَ عَدُوَّكُمْ وَيَسْتَخْلِفَكُمْ فِي الأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرَ كَيْفَ تَعْمَلُونَ

129.          Qaloo ootheena min qabli an tatiyana wamin baAAdi ma jitana qala AAasa rabbukum an yuhlika AAaduwwakum wayastakhlifakum fee alardi fayanthura kayfa taAAmaloona
The people of his nation said: "We used to be harassed before you came and now are also being harassed while you have come."  He replied: "The time is near that your Râbb may destroy your enemy and make you vicegerent on the earth, then see how you behave (do your deeds)." (R) 5

وَلَقَدْ أَخَذْنَا آلَ فِرْعَونَ بِالسِّنِينَ وَنَقْصٍ مِّن الثَّمَرَاتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ

130.          Walaqad akhathna ala firAAawna bialssineena wanaqsin mina alththamarati laAAallahum yaththakkaroona
WE kept Fir'aun’s people in famine and shortage of production for several years that they might come to senses.

فَإِذَا جَاءتْهُمُ الْحَسَنَةُ قَالُواْ لَنَا هَـذِهِ وَإِن تُصِبْهُمْ سَيِّئَةٌ يَطَّيَّرُواْ بِمُوسَى وَمَن مَّعَهُ أَلا إِنَّمَا طَائِرُهُمْ عِندَ اللّهُ وَلَـكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ

131.          Faitha jaathumu alhasanatu qaloo lana hathihi wain tusibhum sayyiatun yattayyaroo bimoosa waman maAAahu ala innama tairuhum AAinda Allahi walakinna aktharahum la yaAAlamoona
But their condition was such that when good time comes then they say that we deserve it, and when bad time comes then they consider Mûsa and his companions as a bad luck for them, whereas in fact their bad luck was with Allâh but majority of them were illiterate.

وَقَالُواْ مَهْمَا تَأْتِنَا بِهِ مِن آيَةٍ لِّتَسْحَرَنَا بِهَا فَمَا نَحْنُ لَكَ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ

132.          Waqaloo mahma tatina bihi min ayatin litasharana biha fama nahnu laka bimumineena
They said to Mûsa: "Whatever proof you bring to fascinate us, we are not going to believe in your word."

فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ الطُّوفَانَ وَالْجَرَادَ وَالْقُمَّلَ وَالضَّفَادِعَ وَالدَّمَ آيَاتٍ مُّفَصَّلاَتٍ فَاسْتَكْبَرُواْ وَكَانُواْ قَوْمًا مُّجْرِمِينَ

133.          Faarsalna AAalayhimu alttoofana waaljarada waalqummala waalddafadiAAa waalddama ayatin mufassalatin faistakbaroo wakanoo qawman mujrimeena
Finally WE sent storm on them, let loose the locusts, spread the lice, brought out frogs, and showered blood.  Showed all the Signs one by one. But they kept doing the rebellion and they were the big criminals (Mujrimûn).

وَلَمَّا وَقَعَ عَلَيْهِمُ الرِّجْزُ قَالُواْ يَا مُوسَى ادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ بِمَا عَهِدَ عِندَكَ لَئِن كَشَفْتَ عَنَّا الرِّجْزَ لَنُؤْمِنَنَّ لَكَ وَلَنُرْسِلَنَّ مَعَكَ بَنِي إِسْرَآئِيلَ

134.         Walamma waqaAAa AAalayhimu alrrijzu qaloo ya moosa odAAu lana rabbaka bima AAahida AAindaka lain kashafta AAanna alrrijza lanuminanna laka walanursilanna maAAaka banee israeela
Whenever misery came to them, they said: "O Mûsa, the position you have from your Râbb on the basis of that pray for us, if this time you get this misery taken away then we shall believe in your word and will sent the Children of Israel with you."

فَلَمَّا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْزَ إِلَى أَجَلٍ هُم بَالِغُوهُ إِذَا هُمْ يَنكُثُونَ

135.         Falamma kashafna AAanhumu alrrijza ila ajalin hum balighoohu itha hum yankuthoona
But when WE removed OUR punishment from them for a fixed term, which they were after all going to reach, then all of sudden they backed out from their promises.

فَانتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ فَأَغْرَقْنَاهُمْ فِي الْيَمِّ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَذَّبُواْ بِآيَاتِنَا وَكَانُواْ عَنْهَا غَافِلِينَ

136.         Faintaqamna minhum faaghraqnahum fee alyammi biannahum kaththaboo biayatina wakanoo AAanha ghafileena
Then WE took revenge from them and drowned them in the sea because they had denied OUR Signs (Ayât) and had become inattentive of them.

وَأَوْرَثْنَا الْقَوْمَ الَّذِينَ كَانُواْ يُسْتَضْعَفُونَ مَشَارِقَ الأَرْضِ وَمَغَارِبَهَا الَّتِي بَارَكْنَا فِيهَا وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ الْحُسْنَى عَلَى بَنِي إِسْرَآئِيلَ بِمَا صَبَرُواْ وَدَمَّرْنَا مَا كَانَ يَصْنَعُ فِرْعَوْنُ وَقَوْمُهُ وَمَا كَانُواْ يَعْرِشُونَ

137.         Waawrathna alqawma allatheena kanoo yustadAAafoona mashariqa alardi wamagharibaha allatee barakna feeha watammat kalimatu rabbika alhusna AAala banee israeela bima sabaroo wadammarna ma kana yasnaAAu firAAawnu waqawmuhu wama kanoo yaAArishoona
And in their place WE made those people, who were kept as weak, the inheritors of the east and the west of that land which WE had blessed with bounties.  In this way the fair Promise of your Râbb was fulfilled in favor of the Children of Israel because they were patient and WE destroyed all the work of Fir'aun and his people which they built and raised

وَجَاوَزْنَا بِبَنِي إِسْرَآئِيلَ الْبَحْرَ فَأَتَوْاْ عَلَى قَوْمٍ يَعْكُفُونَ عَلَى أَصْنَامٍ لَّهُمْ قَالُواْ يَا مُوسَى اجْعَل لَّنَا إِلَـهًا كَمَا لَهُمْ آلِهَةٌ قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ تَجْهَلُونَ

138.         Wajawazna bibanee israeela albahra faataw AAala qawmin yaAAkufoona AAala asnamin lahum qaloo ya moosa ijAAal lana ilahan kama lahum alihatun qala innakum qawmun tajhaloona
WE let the Children of Israel to pass through the sea, then they started their journey and on the way they passed by such nation, which was in love of some of their idols.  They said: "O Mûsa, also make such deities (ilâhan) for us as these people have the deities (âliha)."  Mûsa said: "You people talk ignorantly.

إِنَّ هَـؤُلاء مُتَبَّرٌ مَّا هُمْ فِيهِ وَبَاطِلٌ مَّا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَ

139.          Inna haolai mutabbarun ma hum feehi wabatilun ma kanoo yaAAmaloona
The path these people are following is going to destruction and the act they are doing is totally absurd."

قَالَ أَغَيْرَ اللّهِ أَبْغِيكُمْ إِلَـهًا وَهُوَ فَضَّلَكُمْ عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ

140.          Qala aghayra Allahi abgheekum ilahan wahuwa faddalakum AAala alAAalameena
Then Mûsa said: "Should I seek any other deities (Ilâhan) for you except Allâh?  Whereas HE is the Allâh WHO has given you the superiority over all the nations of the world ('Alamîn).

وَإِذْ أَنجَيْنَاكُم مِّنْ آلِ فِرْعَونَ يَسُومُونَكُمْ سُوَءَ الْعَذَابِ يُقَتِّلُونَ أَبْنَاءكُمْ وَيَسْتَحْيُونَ نِسَاءكُمْ وَفِي ذَلِكُم بَلاء مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ عَظِيمٌ

141.          Waith anjaynakum min ali firAAawna yasoomoonakum sooa alAAathabi yuqattiloona abnaakum wayastahyoona nisaakum wafee thalikum balaon min rabbikum AAatheemun
And (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala, says) remember the time when WE liberated you from Fir'aun's people, those who were keeping you under worst torment, used to kill your sons and were leaving your women alive and there was a big trial for you in it from your Râbb. (R) 6

وَوَاعَدْنَا مُوسَى ثَلاَثِينَ لَيْلَةً وَأَتْمَمْنَاهَا بِعَشْرٍ فَتَمَّ مِيقَاتُ رَبِّهِ أَرْبَعِينَ لَيْلَةً وَقَالَ مُوسَى لأَخِيهِ هَارُونَ اخْلُفْنِي فِي قَوْمِي وَأَصْلِحْ وَلاَ تَتَّبِعْ سَبِيلَ الْمُفْسِدِينَ

142.          WawaAAadna moosa thalatheena laylatan waatmamnaha biAAashrin fatamma meeqatu rabbihi arbaAAeena laylatan waqala moosa liakheehi haroona okhlufnee fee qawmee waaslih wala tattabiAA sabeela almufsideena
WE summoned Mûsa (on Mount Sinai) for thirty nights and days and later added ten more days (nights and days), this way the appointed term of his Râbb became complete forty days (nights and days).  While departing Mûsa said to his brother Hârûn: "In my absence among my nation you take my position and keep doing the right things and do not follow the ways of those who are mischief makers (Mufsidûn)."

وَلَمَّا جَاء مُوسَى لِمِيقَاتِنَا وَكَلَّمَهُ رَبُّهُ قَالَ رَبِّ أَرِنِي أَنظُرْ إِلَيْكَ قَالَ لَن تَرَانِي وَلَـكِنِ انظُرْ إِلَى الْجَبَلِ فَإِنِ اسْتَقَرَّ مَكَانَهُ فَسَوْفَ تَرَانِي فَلَمَّا تَجَلَّى رَبُّهُ لِلْجَبَلِ جَعَلَهُ دَكًّا وَخَرَّ موسَى صَعِقًا فَلَمَّا أَفَاقَ قَالَ سُبْحَانَكَ تُبْتُ إِلَيْكَ وَأَنَاْ أَوَّلُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

143.          Walamma jaa moosa limeeqatina wakallamahu rabbuhu qala rabbi arinee anthur ilayka qala lan taranee walakini onthur ila aljabali faini istaqarra makanahu fasawfa taranee falamma tajalla rabbuhu liljabali jaAAalahu dakkan wakharra moosa saAAiqan falamma afaqa qala subhanaka tubtu ilayka waana awwalu almumineena
When he arrived at OUR appointed time and his Râbb spoke to him then he supplicated: "O Râbb, give me that vision so I can see YOU." (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala) Replied: "You cannot see ME.  Yes just look towards the mountain in front of you, if it remains at its place then you will be able to see ME."  Accordingly when his Râbb lighted (shined) on the mountain then turned it into small pieces and Mûsa fell down unconscious.  When became conscious then said: "YOU are Pure, I repent before YOU and I am the first among those who bring Faith."

قَالَ يَا مُوسَى إِنِّي اصْطَفَيْتُكَ عَلَى النَّاسِ بِرِسَالاَتِي وَبِكَلاَمِي فَخُذْ مَا آتَيْتُكَ وَكُن مِّنَ الشَّاكِرِينَ

144.          Qala ya moosa innee istafaytuka AAala alnnasi birisalatee wabikalamee fakhuth ma ataytuka wakun mina alshshakireena
(Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala) Responded: "O Mûsa, I have chosen you for MY Prophethood above all the people and that (you) communicated with ME.  Therefore whatever I give you take-it and be thankful."

وَكَتَبْنَا لَهُ فِي الأَلْوَاحِ مِن كُلِّ شَيْءٍ مَّوْعِظَةً وَتَفْصِيلاً لِّكُلِّ شَيْءٍ فَخُذْهَا بِقُوَّةٍ وَأْمُرْ قَوْمَكَ يَأْخُذُواْ بِأَحْسَنِهَا سَأُرِيكُمْ دَارَ الْفَاسِقِينَ

145.         Wakatabna lahu fee alalwahi min kulli shayin mawAAithatan watafseelan likulli shayin fakhuthha biquwwatin wamur qawmaka yakhuthoo biahsaniha saoreekum dara alfasiqeena
After this WE gave to Mûsa the clear guidance and advice written on the tablets, about each aspect of life and said to him: "Hold this guidance with firm hands and command your nation to follow the best substance of it, soon I shall show you the homes of rebellious (Al-Fâsiqûn).

سَأَصْرِفُ عَنْ آيَاتِيَ الَّذِينَ يَتَكَبَّرُونَ فِي الأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ وَإِن يَرَوْاْ كُلَّ آيَةٍ لاَّ يُؤْمِنُواْ بِهَا وَإِن يَرَوْاْ سَبِيلَ الرُّشْدِ لاَ يَتَّخِذُوهُ سَبِيلاً وَإِن يَرَوْاْ سَبِيلَ الْغَيِّ يَتَّخِذُوهُ سَبِيلاً ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَذَّبُواْ بِآيَاتِنَا وَكَانُواْ عَنْهَا غَافِلِينَ

146.          Saasrifu AAan ayatiya allatheena yatakabbaroona fee alardi bighayri alhaqqi wain yaraw kulla ayatin la yuminoo biha wain yaraw sabeela alrrushdi la yattakhithoohu sabeelan wain yaraw sabeela alghayyi yattakhithoohu sabeelan thalika biannahum kaththaboo biayatina wakanoo AAanha ghafileena
With MY Signs I shall turn the sights of those people who claim to be big on the earth without any truth, even whatever signs they see (they) will never bring Faith in it, if a straight path comes in front of them even then they will not adopt it and if they see the crooked path they will follow it, because they denied OUR Signs and kept doing carelessness from them.

وَالَّذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِآيَاتِنَا وَلِقَاء الآخِرَةِ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَالُهُمْ هَلْ يُجْزَوْنَ إِلاَّ مَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَ

147.          Waallatheena kaththaboo biayatina waliqai alakhirati habitat aAAmaluhum hal yujzawna illa ma kanoo yaAAmaloona
Whosoever denied OUR Signs and denied the meeting of the Hereafter his/her all deeds are wasted.  Can people get any other recompense except that what you sow so shall you reap." (R) 7

وَاتَّخَذَ قَوْمُ مُوسَى مِن بَعْدِهِ مِنْ حُلِيِّهِمْ عِجْلاً جَسَدًا لَّهُ خُوَارٌ أَلَمْ يَرَوْاْ أَنَّهُ لاَ يُكَلِّمُهُمْ وَلاَ يَهْدِيهِمْ سَبِيلاً اتَّخَذُوهُ وَكَانُواْ ظَالِمِينَ

148.          Waittakhatha qawmu moosa min baAAdihi min huliyyihim AAijlan jasadan lahu khuwarun alam yaraw annahu la yukallimuhum wala yahdeehim sabeelan ittakhathoohu wakanoo thalimeena
In absence of Mûsa the people of his nation made an idol of calf from their ornaments, a sound like bull used to come out of it.  Had they not seen that neither he speaks to them nor guides them in any matter?  But even then they took it as their deity and they were the crueler (Zâlimûn).

وَلَمَّا سُقِطَ فَي أَيْدِيهِمْ وَرَأَوْاْ أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ ضَلُّواْ قَالُواْ لَئِن لَّمْ يَرْحَمْنَا رَبُّنَا وَيَغْفِرْ لَنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ

149.          Walamma suqita fee aydeehim waraaw annahum qad dalloo qaloo lain lam yarhamna rabbuna wayaghfir lana lanakoonanna mina alkhasireena
And when the magic of their self-delusion was broken and they realized that in fact they were gone astray then (they) started saying, "If our Râbb does not have mercy on us and does not forgive us then we shall be destroyed."

وَلَمَّا رَجَعَ مُوسَى إِلَى قَوْمِهِ غَضْبَانَ أَسِفًا قَالَ بِئْسَمَا خَلَفْتُمُونِي مِن بَعْدِيَ أَعَجِلْتُمْ أَمْرَ رَبِّكُمْ وَأَلْقَى الألْوَاحَ وَأَخَذَ بِرَأْسِ أَخِيهِ يَجُرُّهُ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ ابْنَ أُمَّ إِنَّ الْقَوْمَ اسْتَضْعَفُونِي وَكَادُواْ يَقْتُلُونَنِي فَلاَ تُشْمِتْ بِيَ الأعْدَاء وَلاَ تَجْعَلْنِي مَعَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ

150.          Walamma rajaAAa moosa ila qawmihi ghadbana asifan qala bisama khalaftumoonee min baAAdee aAAajiltum amra rabbikum waalqa alalwaha waakhatha birasi akheehi yajurruhu ilayhi qala ibna omma inna alqawma istadAAafoonee wakadoo yaqtuloonanee fala tushmit biya alaAAdaa wala tajAAalnee maAAa alqawmi alththalimeena
On the other side Mûsa returned to his people with full of anger and grieve.  As soon as he reached (to his people) he said: "You people have done an evil vicegerency in my absence!  Did you not have that much patience that you could have waited for the commandment of your Râbb?"  And threw the Tablets and pulled his brother (Hârûn) by his hair.  Hârûn said: "O son of my mother, these people overpowered me and (they) were about to kill me.  So, you should not give chance to the enemies to laugh at me, and do not include me with this cruel group."

قَالَ رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلأَخِي وَأَدْخِلْنَا فِي رَحْمَتِكَ وَأَنتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ

151.          Qala rabbi ighfir lee waliakhee waadkhilna fee rahmatika waanta arhamu alrrahimeena
Then Mûsa said: "O my Râbb! Forgive me and my brother, and enter us into YOUR Mercy, YOU are the Most Merciful of all" (R) 8

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُواْ الْعِجْلَ سَيَنَالُهُمْ غَضَبٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ وَذِلَّةٌ فِي الْحَياةِ الدُّنْيَا وَكَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُفْتَرِينَ

 152.          Inna allatheena ittakhathoo alAAijla sayanaluhum ghadabun min rabbihim wathillatun fee alhayati alddunya wakathalika najzee almuftareena
(In response, it was said) Those people who made the calf as deity (for worship) they will surely incur the wrath of their Râbb and will be humiliated in the life of this world.  WE give such punishment to those who invent lies.

وَالَّذِينَ عَمِلُواْ السَّيِّئَاتِ ثُمَّ تَابُواْ مِن بَعْدِهَا وَآمَنُواْ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ مِن بَعْدِهَا لَغَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

153.          Waallatheena AAamiloo alssayyiati thumma taboo min baAAdiha waamanoo inna rabbaka min baAAdiha laghafoorun raheemun
And those people who do evil deeds then repent afterwards and bring Faith then surely after this repentance and Faith your Râbb is Forbearing and Most Merciful."

وَلَمَّا سَكَتَ عَن مُّوسَى الْغَضَبُ أَخَذَ الأَلْوَاحَ وَفِي نُسْخَتِهَا هُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِرَبِّهِمْ يَرْهَبُونَ

154.         Walamma sakata AAan moosa alghadabu akhatha alalwaha wafee nuskhatiha hudan warahmatun lillatheena hum lirabbihim yarhaboona
And when Mûsa’s anger calmed-down then he picked up those Tablets in whose writing there was guidance and mercy for those people who fear their Râbb,

وَاخْتَارَ مُوسَى قَوْمَهُ سَبْعِينَ رَجُلاً لِّمِيقَاتِنَا فَلَمَّا أَخَذَتْهُمُ الرَّجْفَةُ قَالَ رَبِّ لَوْ شِئْتَ أَهْلَكْتَهُم مِّن قَبْلُ وَإِيَّايَ أَتُهْلِكُنَا بِمَا فَعَلَ السُّفَهَاء مِنَّا إِنْ هِيَ إِلاَّ فِتْنَتُكَ تُضِلُّ بِهَا مَن تَشَاء وَتَهْدِي مَن تَشَاء أَنتَ وَلِيُّنَا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الْغَافِرِينَ

 155.         Waikhtara moosa qawmahu sabAAeena rajulan limeeqatina falamma akhathathumu alrrajfatu qala rabbi law shita ahlaktahum min qablu waiyyaya atuhlikuna bima faAAala alssufahao minna in hiya illa fitnatuka tudillu biha man tashao watahdee man tashao anta waliyyuna faighfir lana wairhamna waanta khayru alghafireena
And he selected seventy men from his nation so that they come (with him) at OUR appointed time. When a powerful earthquake seized them then Mûsa said: "O my Râbb, if YOU wanted YOU could have killed them and me long ago.  Would YOU destroy all of us for the sin committed by some foolish from among us?  It was only YOUR Trial by which YOU sent astray whom YOU will and guide whom YOU Wanted.  YOU Alone are our Guardian (Walî).  So forgive us and have Mercy on us, YOU are Oft Forgiving.

وَاكْتُبْ لَنَا فِي هَـذِهِ الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ إِنَّا هُدْنَـا إِلَيْكَ قَالَ عَذَابِي أُصِيبُ بِهِ مَنْ أَشَاء وَرَحْمَتِي وَسِعَتْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ فَسَأَكْتُبُهَا لِلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ وَيُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَـاةَ وَالَّذِينَ هُم بِآيَاتِنَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

156.         Waoktub lana fee hathihi alddunya hasanatan wafee alakhirati inna hudna ilayka qala AAathabee oseebu bihi man ashao warahmatee wasiAAat kulla shayin fasaaktubuha lillatheena yattaqoona wayutoona alzzakata waallatheena hum biayatina yuminoona
And also ordain the good of this world as well as of the Hereafter for us, we have inclined towards YOU."  In response it was said: "Whomever I want give the punishment, but MY Mercy is prevailing over everything and I will ordain it for those people who will restrain from disobedience, will pay the poor-dues (Zakât) and will bring Faith in MY Revelation (Ayât)."

الَّذِينَ يَتَّبِعُونَ الرَّسُولَ النَّبِيَّ الأُمِّيَّ الَّذِي يَجِدُونَهُ مَكْتُوبًا عِندَهُمْ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ وَالإِنْجِيلِ يَأْمُرُهُم بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَاهُمْ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ وَيُحِلُّ لَهُمُ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَيُحَرِّمُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْخَبَآئِثَ وَيَضَعُ عَنْهُمْ إِصْرَهُمْ وَالأَغْلاَلَ الَّتِي كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ فَالَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ بِهِ وَعَزَّرُوهُ وَنَصَرُوهُ وَاتَّبَعُواْ النُّورَ الَّذِيَ أُنزِلَ مَعَهُ أُوْلَـئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ

157.         Allatheena yattabiAAoona alrrasoola alnnabiyya alommiyya allathee yajidoonahu maktooban AAindahum fee alttawrati waalinjeeli yamuruhum bialmaAAroofi wayanhahum AAani almunkari wayuhillu lahumu alttayyibati wayuharrimu AAalayhimu alkhabaitha wayadaAAu AAanhum israhum waalaghlala allatee kanat AAalayhim faallatheena amanoo bihi waAAazzaroohu wanasaroohu waittabaAAoo alnnoora allathee onzila maAAahu olaika humu almuflihoona
(Therefore today this blessing is a share of those people) Who follow this Rasool, the Ummi (who can neither read nor write) Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) about whom they find written in the Taurât and the Injeel with them.  He commands them for good (Al-Ma'rûf) and forbids them from bad (Al-Munkar); he makes pure things (At-Taiyibât) lawful (Halâl) for them and prohibits the impure things (Al-Khabâ'ith), and takes-off their burdens from them which were loaded on them and (he) frees them from the bindings in which they were tided up.  Therefore those people who bring Faith in him and defend and help him and follow that light (Al-Qur'ân) which has been revealed to him they are the ones who will benefit. (R) 9

قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنِّي رَسُولُ اللّهِ إِلَيْكُمْ جَمِيعًا الَّذِي لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ لا إِلَـهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ يُحْيِـي وَيُمِيتُ فَآمِنُواْ بِاللّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ النَّبِيِّ الأُمِّيِّ الَّذِي يُؤْمِنُ بِاللّهِ وَكَلِمَاتِهِ وَاتَّبِعُوهُ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ

158.          Qul ya ayyuha alnnasu innee rasoolu Allahi ilaykum jameeAAan allathee lahu mulku alssamawati waalardi la ilaha illa huwa yuhyee wayumeetu faaminoo biAllahi warasoolihi alnnabiyyi alommiyyi allathee yuminu biAllahi wakalimatihi waittabiAAoohu laAAallakum tahtadoona
O Muhammad (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) Say that: "O mankind, I am HIS Rasool towards all of you, WHO is the Owner of the dominion of the skies and the earth, there is no deity (Ilâha) except HIM, HE is the One WHO gives life and causes death, therefore bring Faith in Allâh and in Rasool Ummi (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) sent by HIM -- who believes in Allâh and HIS Revelations, and follow him, it is expected that you will find True Guidance."

وَمِن قَوْمِ مُوسَى أُمَّةٌ يَهْدُونَ بِالْحَقِّ وَبِهِ يَعْدِلُونَ

159.          Wamin qawmi moosa ommatun yahdoona bialhaqqi wabihi yaAAdiloona
There was one such group among the nation of Mûsa who used to guide according to the truth and also used to judge according to the truth.

وَقَطَّعْنَاهُمُ اثْنَتَيْ عَشْرَةَ أَسْبَاطًا أُمَمًا وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَى مُوسَى إِذِ اسْتَسْقَاهُ قَوْمُهُ أَنِ اضْرِب بِّعَصَاكَ الْحَجَرَ فَانبَجَسَتْ مِنْهُ اثْنَتَا عَشْرَةَ عَيْنًا قَدْ عَلِمَ كُلُّ أُنَاسٍ مَّشْرَبَهُمْ وَظَلَّلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ الْغَمَامَ وَأَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ الْمَنَّ وَالسَّلْوَى كُلُواْ مِن طَيِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ وَمَا ظَلَمُونَا وَلَـكِن كَانُواْ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ

160.          WaqattaAAnahumu ithnatay AAashrata asbatan omaman waawhayna ila moosa ithi istasqahu qawmuhu ani idrib biAAasaka alhajara fainbajasat minhu ithnata AAashrata AAaynan qad AAalima kullu onasin mashrabahum wathallalna AAalayhimu alghamama waanzalna AAalayhimu almanna waalssalwa kuloo min tayyibati ma razaqnakum wama thalamoona walakin kanoo anfusahum yathlimoona
And WE had given them permanent grouping by dividing this nation into twelve tribes.  And when his nation asked Mûsa for water then WE inspired him to strike his staff on a certain rock. Consequently all of sudden twelve springs gushed out from that rock and each group fixed its own place to get water.  WE shaded them with the clouds and sent down manna salvah (Manna and the quails) on them (saying): "Eat those pure things which WE have granted you."  But after this whatever they did (they) did not harm US but kept harming their own-selves.

وَإِذْ قِيلَ لَهُمُ اسْكُنُواْ هَـذِهِ الْقَرْيَةَ وَكُلُواْ مِنْهَا حَيْثُ شِئْتُمْ وَقُولُواْ حِطَّةٌ وَادْخُلُواْ الْبَابَ سُجَّدًا نَّغْفِرْ لَكُمْ خَطِيئَاتِكُمْ سَنَزِيدُ الْمُحْسِنِينَ

161.          Waith qeela lahumu oskunoo hathihi alqaryata wakuloo minha haythu shitum waqooloo hittatun waodkhuloo albaba sujjadan naghfir lakum khateeatikum sanazeedu almuhsineena
Remember that time when it was said to them: "Go and settle in that town (Jerusalem) and get provisions from its produce according to your own desires and keep saying Hittatun, Hittatun (forgive our sins) and enter the city gate bowing down, WE shall forgive your mistakes and shall bless with more reward to those who have righteous behavior."

فَبَدَّلَ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ مِنْهُمْ قَوْلاً غَيْرَ الَّذِي قِيلَ لَهُمْ فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِجْزًا مِّنَ السَّمَاء بِمَا كَانُواْ يَظْلِمُونَ

162.          Fabaddala allatheena thalamoo minhum qawlan ghayra allathee qeela lahum faarsalna AAalayhim rijzan mina alssamai bima kanoo yathlimoona
But those people who were cruel among them they changed the words that were told to them, and the end result was that WE sent misery on them from sky for their cruelty. (R) 10

واَسْأَلْهُمْ عَنِ الْقَرْيَةِ الَّتِي كَانَتْ حَاضِرَةَ الْبَحْرِ إِذْ يَعْدُونَ فِي السَّبْتِ إِذْ تَأْتِيهِمْ حِيتَانُهُمْ يَوْمَ سَبْتِهِمْ شُرَّعاً وَيَوْمَ لاَ يَسْبِتُونَ لاَ تَأْتِيهِمْ كَذَلِكَ نَبْلُوهُم بِمَا كَانُوا يَفْسُقُونَ

163.          Waisalhum AAani alqaryati allatee kanat hadirata albahri ith yaAAdoona fee alssabti ith tateehim heetanuhum yawma sabtihim shurraAAan wayawma la yasbitoona la tateehim kathalika nabloohum bima kanoo yafsuqoona
And just ask from them about that town which was situated at the bank of sea.  Remind them the incident that the people of the town used to break the laws of Allâh on the day of Sabbath and that the fish used to appear on the surface of water before them on the day of Sabbath (Saturday) and did not use to appear on other days except Sabbath.  It used to happen so because of their disobedience WE were putting them under trial.

وَإِذَ قَالَتْ أُمَّةٌ مِّنْهُمْ لِمَ تَعِظُونَ قَوْمًا اللّهُ مُهْلِكُهُمْ أَوْ مُعَذِّبُهُمْ عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا قَالُواْ مَعْذِرَةً إِلَى رَبِّكُمْ وَلَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ

164.          Waith qalat ommatun minhum lima taAAithoona qawman Allahu muhlikuhum aw muAAaththibuhum AAathaban shadeedan qaloo maAAthiratan ila rabbikum walaAAallahum yattaqoona
And also remind this to them that when one group among them had said to another group, "Why do you advise to such people whom Allâh is about to destroy or punish severely?"  Then they responded: "We do all this to have an excuse in front of your Râbb and with this hope that perhaps these people start refraining from HIS disobedience."

فَلَمَّا نَسُواْ مَا ذُكِّرُواْ بِهِ أَنجَيْنَا الَّذِينَ يَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ السُّوءِ وَأَخَذْنَا الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ بِعَذَابٍ بَئِيسٍ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَفْسُقُونَ

165.          Falamma nasoo ma thukkiroo bihi anjayna allatheena yanhawna AAani alssooi waakhathna allatheena thalamoo biAAathabin baeesin bima kanoo yafsuqoona
Finally, when they totally forgot those teachings, which were reminded to them, then WE saved those people who used to forbid from an evil, and seized in severe torment all other people who were cruel because of their disobedience.

فَلَمَّا عَتَوْاْ عَن مَّا نُهُواْ عَنْهُ قُلْنَا لَهُمْ كُونُواْ قِرَدَةً خَاسِئِينَ

166.          Falamma AAataw AAan ma nuhoo AAanhu qulna lahum koonoo qiradatan khasieena
And when they kept doing the same things with full aversion from which they were prohibited, then we said become monkeys humiliated and rejected.

وَإِذْ تَأَذَّنَ رَبُّكَ لَيَبْعَثَنَّ عَلَيْهِمْ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ مَن يَسُومُهُمْ سُوءَ الْعَذَابِ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَسَرِيعُ الْعِقَابِ وَإِنَّهُ لَغَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

167.          Waith taaththana rabbuka layabAAathanna AAalayhim ila yawmi alqiyamati man yasoomuhum sooa alAAathabi inna rabbaka lasareeAAu alAAiqabi wainnahu laghafoorun raheemun
And remember when your Râbb declared, "HE will successively keep imposing such people on the children of Israel till the Day of Resurrection who will give them severe punishment."  Surely your Râbb is very quick in retribution and certainly HE is Forgiving as well as Merciful.

وَقَطَّعْنَاهُمْ فِي الأَرْضِ أُمَمًا مِّنْهُمُ الصَّالِحُونَ وَمِنْهُمْ دُونَ ذَلِكَ وَبَلَوْنَاهُمْ بِالْحَسَنَاتِ وَالسَّيِّئَاتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ

168.          WaqattaAAnahum fee alardi omaman minhumu alssalihoona waminhum doona thalika wabalawnahum bialhasanati waalssayyiati laAAallahum yarjiAAoona
WE divided them into many nations by breaking them on the earth.  Some people among them were pious and some were different from it.  And WE have been putting them in trials with prosperity and adversity that perhaps they may come back.

فَخَلَفَ مِن بَعْدِهِمْ خَلْفٌ وَرِثُواْ الْكِتَابَ يَأْخُذُونَ عَرَضَ هَـذَا الأدْنَى وَيَقُولُونَ سَيُغْفَرُ لَنَا وَإِن يَأْتِهِمْ عَرَضٌ مُّثْلُهُ يَأْخُذُوهُ أَلَمْ يُؤْخَذْ عَلَيْهِم مِّيثَاقُ الْكِتَابِ أَن لاَّ يِقُولُواْ عَلَى اللّهِ إِلاَّ الْحَقَّ وَدَرَسُواْ مَا فِيهِ وَالدَّارُ الآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لِّلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ أَفَلاَ تَعْقِلُونَ

169.          Fakhalafa min baAAdihim khalfun warithoo alkitaba yakhuthoona AAarada hatha aladna wayaqooloona sayughfaru lana wain yatihim AAaradun mithluhu yakhuthoohu alam yukhath AAalayhim meethaqu alkitabi an la yaqooloo AAala Allahi illa alhaqqa wadarasoo ma feehi waalddaru alakhiratu khayrun lillatheena yattaqoona afala taAAqiloona
Then after the former generation such an evil people succeeded them who harvest the benefits of this inferior world by inheriting the Book of Allâh and they say (as an-excuse) that it is hoped we will be forgiven and if the same worldly things come before them then again they grab it at once. Has not the covenant of the Book been taken from them that -- say only that thing at the name of Allâh that is true?   And they have read it themselves that is written in the Book.  The home of the Hereafter is better for those who fear Allâh (Al-Muttaqûn); do you not understand this little thing?

وَالَّذِينَ يُمَسَّكُونَ بِالْكِتَابِ وَأَقَامُواْ الصَّلاَةَ إِنَّا لاَ نُضِيعُ أَجْرَ الْمُصْلِحِينَ

\170.          Waallatheena yumassikoona bialkitabi waaqamoo alssalata inna la nudeeAAu ajra almusliheena
Those people who abide by the Book and has established prayers (Salât), certainly, WE shall never waste the reward of such pious people.

وَإِذ نَتَقْنَا الْجَبَلَ فَوْقَهُمْ كَأَنَّهُ ظُلَّةٌ وَظَنُّواْ أَنَّهُ وَاقِعٌ بِهِمْ خُذُواْ مَا آتَيْنَاكُم بِقُوَّةٍ وَاذْكُرُواْ مَا فِيهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ

171.         Waith nataqna aljabala fawqahum kaannahu thullatun wathannoo annahu waqiAAun bihim khuthoo ma ataynakum biquwwatin waothkuroo ma feehi laAAallakum tattaqoona
Do they remember the time when WE raised mountain over them like an umbrella and they were thinking that it will fall on them and at that time WE said to them that the Book WE are giving you hold it firmly and remember that what is written in it -- it is hoped that you will be saved from the wrong ways. (R) 11

وَإِذْ أَخَذَ رَبُّكَ مِن بَنِي آدَمَ مِن ظُهُورِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَأَشْهَدَهُمْ عَلَى أَنفُسِهِمْ أَلَسْتَ بِرَبِّكُمْ قَالُواْ بَلَى شَهِدْنَا أَن تَقُولُواْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ إِنَّا كُنَّا عَنْ هَذَا غَافِلِينَ

172.          Waith akhatha rabbuka min banee adama min thuhoorihim thurriyyatahum waashhadahum AAala anfusihim alastu birabbikum qaloo bala shahidna an taqooloo yawma alqiyamati inna kunna AAan hatha ghafileena
And O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), remind that time to the people when your Râbb brought forth their offspring from the generations of children of Adam and asked by making them to testify against themselves: "AM I not your Râbb?"  They replied: "Certainly YOU are our Râbb, we bear witness on it."  WE did so that you should not say this on the Day of Resurrection that: "We were unaware of this thing (that YOU are our Râbb)",

أَوْ تَقُولُواْ إِنَّمَا أَشْرَكَ آبَاؤُنَا مِن قَبْلُ وَكُنَّا ذُرِّيَّةً مِّن بَعْدِهِمْ أَفَتُهْلِكُنَا بِمَا فَعَلَ الْمُبْطِلُونَ

173.          Aw taqooloo innama ashraka abaona min qablu wakunna thurriyyatan min baAAdihim afatuhlikuna bima faAAala almubtiloona
Or do not start saying that: "Our forefathers originated this shirk (to associate partners with Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala) before us and we were born after them to be their descendants, then do YOU catch us on the mistake which was done by wrong doers (Al-Bâtil)?"

وَكَذَلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الآيَاتِ وَلَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ

174.          Wakathalika nufassilu alayati walaAAallahum yarjiAAoona
Look, this is how WE clearly present OUR Signs (Ayât).  And (WE) do so that these people should come back.

وَاتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ الَّذِيَ آتَيْنَاهُ آيَاتِنَا فَانسَلَخَ مِنْهَا فَأَتْبَعَهُ الشَّيْطَانُ فَكَانَ مِنَ الْغَاوِينَ

175.          Waotlu AAalayhim nabaa allathee ataynahu ayatina fainsalakha minha faatbaAAahu alshshaytanu fakana mina alghaweena
And O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), narrate the story of that person before them whom WE gave knowledge of OUR Revelation (Ayât) but he runaway from its binding.  Eventually Shaitân (Satan) pursued him until he became one of those who went astray.

وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَرَفَعْنَاهُ بِهَا وَلَـكِنَّهُ أَخْلَدَ إِلَى الأَرْضِ وَاتَّبَعَ هَوَاهُ فَمَثَلُهُ كَمَثَلِ الْكَلْبِ إِن تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْهِ يَلْهَثْ أَوْ تَتْرُكْهُ يَلْهَث ذَّلِكَ مَثَلُ الْقَوْمِ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِآيَاتِنَا فَاقْصُصِ الْقَصَصَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

176.         Walaw shina larafaAAnahu biha walakinnahu akhlada ila alardi waittabaAAa hawahu famathaluhu kamathali alkalbi in tahmil AAalayhi yalhath aw tatrukhu yalhath thalika mathalu alqawmi allatheena kaththaboo biayatina faoqsusi alqasasa laAAallahum yatafakkaroona
If WE Wanted then (WE) would have elevated him because of those Ayâts, but he remained clung to the earth and followed his own desire, therefore his condition became like a dog that if you attack it even then it hangs-out its tongue, and if you leave it alone even then it hangs-out its tongue. This is the example of those people who deny OUR Revelations.  You keep narrating these facts to them, perhaps they may ponder on it.

سَاء مَثَلاً الْقَوْمُ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِآيَاتِنَا وَأَنفُسَهُمْ كَانُواْ يَظْلِمُونَ

177.          Saa mathalan alqawmu allatheena kaththaboo biayatina waanfusahum kanoo yathlimoona
A very bad example is of those people who denied OUR Revelations, and they themselves have been doing wrong to them.

مَن يَهْدِ اللّهُ فَهُوَ الْمُهْتَدِي وَمَن يُضْلِلْ فَأُوْلَـئِكَ هُمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ

178.          Man yahdi Allahu fahuwa almuhtadee waman yudlil faolaika humu alkhasiroona
Whomever Allâh gives guidance only he/she finds the Straight Path and whomever Allâh deprives from HIS Guidance only he/she becomes unsuccessful and loser.

وَلَقَدْ ذَرَأْنَا لِجَهَنَّمَ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ الْجِنِّ وَالإِنسِ لَهُمْ قُلُوبٌ لاَّ يَفْقَهُونَ بِهَا وَلَهُمْ أَعْيُنٌ لاَّ يُبْصِرُونَ بِهَا وَلَهُمْ آذَانٌ لاَّ يَسْمَعُونَ بِهَا أُوْلَـئِكَ كَالأَنْعَامِ بَلْ هُمْ أَضَلُّ أُوْلَـئِكَ هُمُ الْغَافِلُونَ

179.          Walaqad tharana lijahannama katheeran mina aljinni waalinsi lahum quloobun la yafqahoona biha walahum aAAyunun la yubsiroona biha walahum athanun la yasmaAAoona biha olaika kaalanAAami bal hum adallu olaika humu alghafiloona
And it is a fact that there are many jinns and human beings whom WE have created only for Hell.  They have hearts but they do not think with them. They have eyes but they do not see with them.  They have ears but they do not hear with them.  They are like animals even worse than them (animals); these are those people who are lost in ignorance.

وَلِلّهِ الأَسْمَاء الْحُسْنَى فَادْعُوهُ بِهَا وَذَرُواْ الَّذِينَ يُلْحِدُونَ فِي أَسْمَآئِهِ سَيُجْزَوْنَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَ

180.          Walillahi alasmao alhusna faodAAoohu biha watharoo allatheena yulhidoona fee asmaihi sayujzawna ma kanoo yaAAmaloona
Allâh deserves the excellent names, call HIM with excellent names and leave those people who deviate from Truth in giving HIM names.  Whatever they do they will get the reward for it.

وَمِمَّنْ خَلَقْنَا أُمَّةٌ يَهْدُونَ بِالْحَقِّ وَبِهِ يَعْدِلُونَ

181.          Wamimman khalaqna ommatun yahdoona bialhaqqi wabihi yaAAdiloona
In OUR Creation there is one such group, which guides according to the Truth and does justice with Truth. (R) 12

وَالَّذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِآيَاتِنَا سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُم مِّنْ حَيْثُ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ

182.          Waallatheena kaththaboo biayatina sanastadrijuhum min haythu la yaAAlamoona
As for those people who have rejected OUR Revelation (Ayât), WE shall gradually lead them towards destruction in such a way that they will not be able to realize.

وَأُمْلِي لَهُمْ إِنَّ كَيْدِي مَتِينٌ

183.          Waomlee lahum inna kaydee mateenun
I AM giving them respite -- MY Plan is infallible.

أَوَلَمْ يَتَفَكَّرُواْ مَا بِصَاحِبِهِم مِّن جِنَّةٍ إِنْ هُوَ إِلاَّ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ

184.          Awa lam yatafakkaroo ma bisahibihim min jinnatin in huwa illa natheerun mubeenun
And have these people not ever thought?  There is no influence of madness on their companion (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).  He is a Warner, who is clearly warning (beforehand from the evil consequences).

أَوَلَمْ يَنظُرُواْ فِي مَلَكُوتِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَمَا خَلَقَ اللّهُ مِن شَيْءٍ وَأَنْ عَسَى أَن يَكُونَ قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ أَجَلُهُمْ فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَهُ يُؤْمِنُونَ

185.          Awalam yanthuroo fee malakooti alssamawati waalardi wama khalaqa Allahu min shayin waan AAasa an yakoona qadi iqtaraba ajaluhum fabiayyi hadeethin baAAdahu yuminoona
Have these people not ever pondered on the arrangements of the skies and the earth and have not observed with open eyes anything that Allâh has created?  And have they not thought that perhaps the completion of their life term has already come closer?  Then after this warning of the Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) what other thing could be in which they bring Faith?--

مَن يُضْلِلِ اللّهُ فَلاَ هَادِيَ لَهُ وَيَذَرُهُمْ فِي طُغْيَانِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ

186.          Man yudlili Allahu fala hadiya lahu wayatharuhum fee tughyanihim yaAAmahoona
Whomever Allâh deprives from the guidance then there is no other guide for him/her and Allâh leaves him or her to wander in his or her own rebellion.

يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَاهَا قُلْ إِنَّمَا عِلْمُهَا عِندَ رَبِّي لاَ يُجَلِّيهَا لِوَقْتِهَا إِلاَّ هُوَ ثَقُلَتْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ لاَ تَأْتِيكُمْ إِلاَّ بَغْتَةً يَسْأَلُونَكَ كَأَنَّكَ حَفِيٌّ عَنْهَا قُلْ إِنَّمَا عِلْمُهَا عِندَ اللّهِ وَلَـكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ

187.          Yasaloonaka AAani alssaAAati ayyana mursaha qul innama AAilmuha AAinda rabbee la yujalleeha liwaqtiha illa huwa thaqulat fee alssamawati waalardi la tateekum illa baghtatan yasaloonaka kaannaka hafiyyun AAanha qul innama AAilmuha AAinda Allahi walakinna akthara alnnasi la yaAAlamoona
These people ask from you (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) that when the moment of resurrection will come?  Tell: "The knowledge of it is only with my Râbb.  HE will cause it to happen at its prescribed time.  It will be very difficult time in the skies and on the earth.  It will come upon you all of sudden."  These people ask you (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) about it as if you are in search of it.  Tell: "The knowledge of it is only with Allâh but most of the people are unaware of this fact."

قُل لاَّ أَمْلِكُ لِنَفْسِي نَفْعًا وَلاَ ضَرًّا إِلاَّ مَا شَاء اللّهُ وَلَوْ كُنتُ أَعْلَمُ الْغَيْبَ لاَسْتَكْثَرْتُ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ وَمَا مَسَّنِيَ السُّوءُ إِنْ أَنَاْ إِلاَّ نَذِيرٌ وَبَشِيرٌ لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ

188.          Qul la amliku linafsee nafAAan wala darran illa ma shaa Allahu walaw kuntu aAAlamu alghayba laistakthartu mina alkhayri wama massaniya alssooo in ana illa natheerun wabasheerun liqawmin yuminoona
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), tell them that: "I do not have any power to benefit or harm myself, whatever Allâh Alone Wants it happens.  And if I had the knowledge of the unseen (Ghaib) then I should have gotten many benefits for myself and I would have never suffered any harm.  I am only a warner and a bearer of good news for those people who embrace my word." (R) 13

هُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُم مِّن نَّفْسٍ وَاحِدَةٍ وَجَعَلَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا لِيَسْكُنَ إِلَيْهَا فَلَمَّا تَغَشَّاهَا حَمَلَتْ حَمْلاً خَفِيفًا فَمَرَّتْ بِهِ فَلَمَّا أَثْقَلَت دَّعَوَا اللّهَ رَبَّهُمَا لَئِنْ آتَيْتَنَا صَالِحاً لَّنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الشَّاكِرِينَ

189.          Huwa allathee khalaqakum min nafsin wahidatin wajaAAala minha zawjaha liyaskuna ilayha falamma taghashshaha hamalat hamlan khafeefan famarrat bihi falamma athqalat daAAawa Allaha rabbahuma lain ataytana salihan lanakoonanna mina alshshakireena
HE is Allâh WHO has created you from a single soul (Adam) and from the same soul created his mate (Hawwa, Eve) so that (he) should get comfort with her.  And when a man covers a woman then she conceives a light burden, which she has been carrying around.  When she became heavy then they both prayed together from Allâh their Râbb that if YOU give us a good (Sâlih) child then we shall be thankful to YOU.

فَلَمَّا آتَاهُمَا صَالِحاً جَعَلاَ لَهُ شُرَكَاء فِيمَا آتَاهُمَا فَتَعَالَى اللّهُ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ

190.          Falamma atahuma salihan jaAAala lahu shurakaa feema atahuma fataAAala Allahu AAamma yushrikoona
But when Allâh gave them a complete healthy (Sâlih) child then they start associating others as HIS partners in HIS Gift and Blessings.  Allâh is High and Exalted above from those idols talks (of Shirk) which these people utter.

أَيُشْرِكُونَ مَا لاَ يَخْلُقُ شَيْئاً وَهُمْ يُخْلَقُونَ

191.          Ayushrikoona ma la yakhluqu shayan wahum yukhlaqoona
How foolish are these people that they associate those as HIS partners, who do not create anything but are being created themselves,

وَلاَ يَسْتَطِيعُونَ لَهُمْ نَصْرًا وَلاَ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَنصُرُونَ

192.         Wala yastateeAAoona lahum nasran wala anfusahum yansuroona
Who can neither help these people nor have the power to help themselves.

وَإِن تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى الْهُدَى لاَ يَتَّبِعُوكُمْ سَوَاء عَلَيْكُمْ أَدَعَوْتُمُوهُمْ أَمْ أَنتُمْ صَامِتُونَ

193.         Wain tadAAoohum ila alhuda la yattabiAAookum sawaon AAalaykum adaAAawtumoohum am antum samitoona
If you invite them to follow the right path then they do not follow you.  You whether call them or keep quiet it remains the same for you in both the situations.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اللّهِ عِبَادٌ أَمْثَالُكُمْ فَادْعُوهُمْ فَلْيَسْتَجِيبُواْ لَكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

194.         Inna allatheena tadAAoona min dooni Allahi AAibadun amthalukum faodAAoohum falyastajeeboo lakum in kuntum sadiqeena
Those whom you call upon except Allâh they are just servants (of Allâh) like you.  Just (try to) submit your supplication to them they should answer your prayers if you are true in your thoughts about them.

أَلَهُمْ أَرْجُلٌ يَمْشُونَ بِهَا أَمْ لَهُمْ أَيْدٍ يَبْطِشُونَ بِهَا أَمْ لَهُمْ أَعْيُنٌ يُبْصِرُونَ بِهَا أَمْ لَهُمْ آذَانٌ يَسْمَعُونَ بِهَا قُلِ ادْعُواْ شُرَكَاءكُمْ ثُمَّ كِيدُونِ فَلاَ تُنظِرُونِ

195.          Alahum arjulun yamshoona biha am lahum aydin yabtishoona biha am lahum aAAyunun yubsiroona biha am lahum athanun yasmaAAoona biha quli odAAoo shurakaakum thumma keedooni fala tunthirooni
Do they have feet to walk with?  Do they have hands to hold with?  Do they have eyes to see with them?  Do they have ears to hear with?  O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) tell them that: "Call all your deities (shorakâs) then you all together plot against me and do not give me any respite,

إِنَّ وَلِيِّـيَ اللّهُ الَّذِي نَزَّلَ الْكِتَابَ وَهُوَ يَتَوَلَّى الصَّالِحِينَ

196.          Inna waliyyiya Allahu allathee nazzala alkitaba wahuwa yatawalla alssaliheena
My helper and protector (Walî) is that Allâh WHO has revealed this Book (Al-Qur'ân) and HE favors the righteous people.

وَالَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِ لاَ يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَكُمْ وَلآ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَنْصُرُونَ

197.          Waallatheena tadAAoona min doonihi la yastateeAAoona nasrakum wala anfusahum yansuroona
Contrary to that, those whom you call except Allâh they can neither help you and nor have the power to help themselves,

وَإِن تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى الْهُدَى لاَ يَسْمَعُواْ وَتَرَاهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَيْكَ وَهُمْ لاَ يُبْصِرُونَ

198.         Wain tadAAoohum ila alhuda la yasmaAAoo watarahum yanthuroona ilayka wahum la yubsiroona
But if you ask them to come to the right path even they cannot listen your message.  Although it appears to you that they are looking towards you but in fact they do not see anything."

خُذِ الْعَفْوَ وَأْمُرْ بِالْعُرْفِ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ الْجَاهِلِينَ

199.         Khuthi alAAafwa wamur bialAAurfi waaAArid AAani aljahileena
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), adopt the way of forgiveness and leniency, keep enjoining for the good, and avoid (entangling into discussions with) the ignorant people.

وَإِمَّا يَنزَغَنَّكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ نَزْغٌ فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللّهِ إِنَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ

200.         Waimma yanzaghannaka mina alshshaytani nazghun faistaAAith biAllahi innahu sameeAAun AAaleemun
If ever Satan excites you then seek Refuge with Allâh HE is All-Hearing and All-Knowing.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ اتَّقَواْ إِذَا مَسَّهُمْ طَائِفٌ مِّنَ الشَّيْطَانِ تَذَكَّرُواْ فَإِذَا هُم مُّبْصِرُونَ

201.         Inna allatheena ittaqaw itha massahum taifun mina alshshaytani tathakkaroo faitha hum mubsiroona
In fact those people who are pious (Al-Muttaqûn) their condition is such that if any bad thought ever touches them with the influence of Shaitân (Satan) then they immediately become vigilant and then they start seeing clearly that what is the right way for them.

وَإِخْوَانُهُمْ يَمُدُّونَهُمْ فِي الْغَيِّ ثُمَّ لاَ يُقْصِرُونَ

202.         Waikhwanuhum yamuddoonahum fee alghayyi thumma la yuqsiroona
As for their (Satan’s) brothers, they keep dragging them deeper into their error and leave nothing undone to send them astray.

وَإِذَا لَمْ تَأْتِهِم بِآيَةٍ قَالُواْ لَوْلاَ اجْتَبَيْتَهَا قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَتَّبِعُ مَا يِوحَى إِلَيَّ مِن رَّبِّي هَـذَا بَصَآئِرُ مِن رَّبِّكُمْ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ

203.         Waitha lam tatihim biayatin qaloo lawla ijtabaytaha qul innama attabiAAu ma yooha ilayya min rabbee hatha basairu min rabbikum wahudan warahmatun liqawmin yuminoona
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), when you do not present any Sign (Miracle) before these people then they say that why have you not chosen any Sign for yourself?  Tell them: "I only follow that Revelation which my Râbb has sent to me.  These are the lights of insight from your Râbb and are guidance and mercy for those people who embrace it.

وَإِذَا قُرِىءَ الْقُرْآنُ فَاسْتَمِعُواْ لَهُ وَأَنصِتُواْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ

204.         Waitha quria alquranu faistamiAAoo lahu waansitoo laAAallakum turhamoona
When Al-Qur'ân is recited before you, listen it attentively and keep quiet, perhaps blessing may come to you."

وَاذْكُر رَّبَّكَ فِي نَفْسِكَ تَضَرُّعاً وَخِيفَةً وَدُونَ الْجَهْرِ مِنَ الْقَوْلِ بِالْغُدُوِّ وَالآصَالِ وَلاَ تَكُن مِّنَ الْغَافِلِينَ

205.         Waothkur rabbaka fee nafsika tadarruAAan wakheefatan wadoona aljahri mina alqawli bialghuduwwi waalasali wala takun mina alghafileena
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), remember your Râbb day and night quietly in heart secretly and with fear and as well as with tongue in low voice.  You should not be among those people who are neglectful.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ عِندَ رَبِّكَ لاَ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِهِ وَيُسَبِّحُونَهُ وَلَهُ يَسْجُدُونَ(Al- Sajjdah) 

206.         Inna allatheena AAinda rabbika la yastakbiroona AAan AAibadatihi wayusabbihoonahu walahu yasjudoona
Those Angels who have the higher ranks (nearness) with your Râbb they never become too proud to turn away from HIS Worship, and (they) glorify HIM, and keep prostrating before HIM. (R) 14

 “Al-Anfâl - Spoils of War/Booty” – (Madanni - 8^th Sûrah)

Total Verses: 75

بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمـَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi
(I) Begin with the Name of Allâh WHO is Most Loving and Most Merciful

يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الأَنفَالِ قُلِ الأَنفَالُ لِلّهِ وَالرَّسُولِ فَاتَّقُواْ اللّهَ وَأَصْلِحُواْ ذَاتَ بِيْنِكُمْ وَأَطِيعُواْ اللّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

1.               Yasaloonaka AAani alanfali quli alanfalu lillahi waalrrasooli faittaqoo Allaha waaslihoo thata baynikum waateeAAoo Allaha warasoolahu in kuntum mumineena
They ask you (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) about the spoils of war (booty). Say: "These booties are for Allâh and HIS Rasool, therefore fear Allâh and correct all your mutual affairs and obey Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) if you are believers."

إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِرَ اللّهُ وَجِلَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَإِذَا تُلِيَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتُهُ زَادَتْهُمْ إِيمَانًا وَعَلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ

2.               Innama almuminoona allatheena itha thukira Allahu wajilat quloobuhum waitha tuliyat AAalayhim ayatuhu zadathum eemanan waAAala rabbihim yatawakkaloona
The true believers are those people whose hearts tremble by hearing the remembrance of Allâh and when the Verses (Ayâts) of Allâh are recited before them then their Faith increases, and they have trust in their Râbb.

الَّذِينَ يُقِيمُونَ الصَّلاَةَ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ

3.                Allatheena yuqeemoona alssalata wamimma razaqnahum yunfiqoona
(Those) Who establish prayer (Salât) and whatever WE have given them they spend (in OUR Cause) from it.

أُوْلَـئِكَ هُمُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ حَقًّا لَّهُمْ دَرَجَاتٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ وَمَغْفِرَةٌ وَرِزْقٌ كَرِيمٌ

4.               Olaika humu almuminoona haqqan lahum darajatun AAinda rabbihim wamaghfiratun warizqun kareemun
Such people are actually believers.  There are high ranks for them with their Râbb, forgiveness from faults and best provisions.

كَمَا أَخْرَجَكَ رَبُّكَ مِن بَيْتِكَ بِالْحَقِّ وَإِنَّ فَرِيقاً مِّنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لَكَارِهُونَ

5.               Kama akhrajaka rabbuka min baytika bialhaqqi wainna fareeqan mina almumineena lakarihoona
(The same thing is happening in the matter of this booty as it occurred that time when) Your Râbb brought you out from your home with truth and it was unpleasant for one group among the believers.

يُجَادِلُونَكَ فِي الْحَقِّ بَعْدَمَا تَبَيَّنَ كَأَنَّمَا يُسَاقُونَ إِلَى الْمَوْتِ وَهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ

6.               Yujadiloonaka fee alhaqqi baAAda ma tabayyana kaannama yusaqoona ila almawti wahum yanthuroona
They were disputing with you about this truth whereas it had become quite clear.  Their condition was such as if they were being driven towards death with their eyes wide-open.

وَإِذْ يَعِدُكُمُ اللّهُ إِحْدَى الطَّائِفَتِيْنِ أَنَّهَا لَكُمْ وَتَوَدُّونَ أَنَّ غَيْرَ ذَاتِ الشَّوْكَةِ تَكُونُ لَكُمْ وَيُرِيدُ اللّهُ أَن يُحِقَّ الحَقَّ بِكَلِمَاتِهِ وَيَقْطَعَ دَابِرَ الْكَافِرِينَ

7.               Waith yaAAidukumu Allahu ihda alttaifatayni annaha lakum watawaddoona anna ghayra thati alshshawkati takoonu lakum wayureedu Allahu an yuhiqqa alhaqqa bikalimatihi wayaqtaAAa dabira alkafireena
Remember that time when Allâh was promising you that you will get one of the two parties.  You wanted to get weak party.  But the intention of Allâh was to prove by HIS Words the Truth to be True and eradicate the roots of the infidels (Kafir)

لِيُحِقَّ الْحَقَّ وَيُبْطِلَ الْبَاطِلَ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُجْرِمُونَ

8.                Liyuhiqqa alhaqqa wayubtila albatila walaw kariha almujrimoona
So that the Truth becomes true (victorious) and falsehood remains as falsehood (looser) even though the criminals (Mujrimûn) hate it very much.

إِذْ تَسْتَغِيثُونَ رَبَّكُمْ فَاسْتَجَابَ لَكُمْ أَنِّي مُمِدُّكُم بِأَلْفٍ مِّنَ الْمَلآئِكَةِ مُرْدِفِينَ

9.                Ith tastagheethoona rabbakum faistajaba lakum annee mumiddukum bialfin mina almalaikati murdifeena
And (remember) that occasion when you were supplicating to your Râbb.  In response HE said that I AM sending one thousand angels one after another for your help.

وَمَا جَعَلَهُ اللّهُ إِلاَّ بُشْرَى وَلِتَطْمَئِنَّ بِهِ قُلُوبُكُمْ وَمَا النَّصْرُ إِلاَّ مِنْ عِندِ اللّهِ إِنَّ اللّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ

10.            Wama jaAAalahu Allahu illa bushra walitatmainna bihi quloobukum wama alnnasru illa min AAindi Allahi inna Allaha AAazeezun hakeemun
Allâh told you this thing only as glad tiding for you and to comfort your hearts from it, otherwise; whenever help comes it is from Allâh Alone surely Allâh is Omnipotent and Wise. (R) 15

إِذْ يُغَشِّيكُمُ النُّعَاسَ أَمَنَةً مِّنْهُ وَيُنَزِّلُ عَلَيْكُم مِّن السَّمَاء مَاء لِّيُطَهِّرَكُم بِهِ وَيُذْهِبَ عَنكُمْ رِجْزَ الشَّيْطَانِ وَلِيَرْبِطَ عَلَى قُلُوبِكُمْ وَيُثَبِّتَ بِهِ الأَقْدَامَ

11.            Ith yughashsheekumu alnnuAAasa amanatan minhu wayunazzilu AAalaykum mina alssamai maan liyutahhirakum bihi wayuthhiba AAankum rijza alshshaytani waliyarbita AAala quloobikum wayuthabbita bihi alaqdama
And that time when Allâh was over shadowing the condition of peace and fearless in the form of drowsiness on you from HIMSELF, and was sending down water on you from the sky in order to purify you and to remove from you the filth (Rijz) caused by Satan and to strengthen your hearts and with it stable your footsteps.

إِذْ يُوحِي رَبُّكَ إِلَى الْمَلآئِكَةِ أَنِّي مَعَكُمْ فَثَبِّتُواْ الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ سَأُلْقِي فِي قُلُوبِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ الرَّعْبَ فَاضْرِبُواْ فَوْقَ الأَعْنَاقِ وَاضْرِبُواْ مِنْهُمْ كُلَّ بَنَانٍ

12.            Ith yoohee rabbuka ila almalaikati annee maAAakum fathabbitoo allatheena amanoo saolqee fee quloobi allatheena kafaroo alrruAAba faidriboo fawqa alaAAnaqi waidriboo minhum kulla bananin
And that time when your Râbb was pointing out to the angels that, "I AM with you, you keep the believers steadfast, right now I AM going to fill the hearts of these unbelievers with fear, so you strike their necks and beat-up every joint of their bodies."

ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ شَآقُّواْ اللّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَمَن يُشَاقِقِ اللّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَإِنَّ اللّهَ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ

13.            Thalika biannahum shaqqoo Allaha warasoolahu waman yushaqiqi Allaha warasoolahu fainna Allaha shadeedu alAAiqabi
This is because they challenged Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and whoever challenges Allâh and HIS Rasool -- Allâh is very hard for him/her--

ذَلِكُمْ فَذُوقُوهُ وَأَنَّ لِلْكَافِرِينَ عَذَابَ النَّارِ

14.            Thalikum fathooqoohu waanna lilkafireena AAathaba alnnari
This is your punishment, now taste it, and you should know that there is punishment of Hell for those people who deny the Truth.

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ إِذَا لَقِيتُمُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ زَحْفاً فَلاَ تُوَلُّوهُمُ الأَدْبَارَ

15.             Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo itha laqeetumu allatheena kafaroo zahfan fala tuwalloohumu aladbara
O people who have brought Faith, when you encounter infidels (Kafir) as an army never turn your backs to them.

وَمَن يُوَلِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ دُبُرَهُ إِلاَّ مُتَحَرِّفاً لِّقِتَالٍ أَوْ مُتَحَيِّزاً إِلَى فِئَةٍ فَقَدْ بَاء بِغَضَبٍ مِّنَ اللّهِ وَمَأْوَاهُ جَهَنَّمُ وَبِئْسَ الْمَصِيرُ

16.            Waman yuwallihim yawmaithin duburahu illa mutaharrifan liqitalin aw mutahayyizan ila fiatin faqad baa bighadabin mina Allahi wamawahu jahannamu wabisa almaseeru
Whoever turns his back on such time--except (he) does it as a trick of war or to join with another troop (of his own)--then he will be drawn into the wrath of Allâh. His residence will be Hell, and it is worst destination.

فَلَمْ تَقْتُلُوهُمْ وَلَـكِنَّ اللّهَ قَتَلَهُمْ وَمَا رَمَيْتَ إِذْ رَمَيْتَ وَلَـكِنَّ اللّهَ رَمَى وَلِيُبْلِيَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْهُ بَلاء حَسَناً إِنَّ اللّهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ

17.             Falam taqtuloohum walakinna Allaha qatalahum wama ramayta ith ramayta walakinna Allaha rama waliyubliya almumineena minhu balaan hasanan inna Allaha sameeAAun AAaleemun
Therefore the truth is that you did not kill them but Allâh killed them and O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) you did not throw (the sand) but Allâh threw it (and the hands of the believers were used in this work) it was for this reason that Allâh may successfully pass the believers through an excellent trial, certainly Allâh is All-Hearer and All-Knower.

ذَلِكُمْ وَأَنَّ اللّهَ مُوهِنُ كَيْدِ الْكَافِرِينَ

18.             Thalikum waanna Allaha moohinu kaydi alkafireena
This deal is with you and the deal with infidels is that Allâh weakens their plots.

إِن تَسْتَفْتِحُواْ فَقَدْ جَاءكُمُ الْفَتْحُ وَإِن تَنتَهُواْ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ وَإِن تَعُودُواْ نَعُدْ وَلَن تُغْنِيَ عَنكُمْ فِئَتُكُمْ شَيْئًا وَلَوْ كَثُرَتْ وَأَنَّ اللّهَ مَعَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

19.             In tastaftihoo faqad jaakumu alfathu wain tantahoo fahuwa khayrun lakum wain taAAoodoo naAAud walan tughniya AAankum fiatukum shayan walaw kathurat waanna Allaha maAAa almumineena
(Tell these infidels) "If you wanted decision then see the judgment has come before you. Now stop, it is better for you, otherwise if you will repeat the same foolishness then WE shall also repeat the same punishment and it does not matter how big your forces are, (it) will not benefit you at all.  Allâh is with the Believers. (R) 16

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ أَطِيعُواْ اللّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَلاَ تَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ وَأَنتُمْ تَسْمَعُونَ

20.             Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo ateeAAoo Allaha warasoolahu wala tawallaw AAanhu waantum tasmaAAoona
O people, who have brought Faith, obey Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and do not disobey after hearing the command.

وَلاَ تَكُونُواْ كَالَّذِينَ قَالُوا سَمِعْنَا وَهُمْ لاَ يَسْمَعُونَ

21.             Wala takoonoo kaallatheena qaloo samiAAna wahum la yasmaAAoona
Do not become like those people who said that we heard whereas they do not hear.

إِنَّ شَرَّ الدَّوَابَّ عِندَ اللّهِ الصُّمُّ الْبُكْمُ الَّذِينَ لاَ يَعْقِلُونَ

22.             Inna sharra alddawabbi AAinda Allahi alssummu albukmu allatheena la yaAAqiloona
Certainly in the Sight of Allâh the worst kind of animals are those deaf and dumb people who do not use common sense.

وَلَوْ عَلِمَ اللّهُ فِيهِمْ خَيْرًا لَّأسْمَعَهُمْ وَلَوْ أَسْمَعَهُمْ لَتَوَلَّواْ وَّهُم مُّعْرِضُونَ

23.             Walaw AAalima Allahu feehim khayran laasmaAAahum walaw asmaAAahum latawallaw wahum muAAridoona
If Allâh knew that there is any good in them then HE certainly would have given them the ability to listen (but without righteousness) if HE had made them to listen then they would have turned away their faces with hatred.

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ اسْتَجِيبُواْ لِلّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ إِذَا دَعَاكُم لِمَا يُحْيِيكُمْ وَاعْلَمُواْ أَنَّ اللّهَ يَحُولُ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَقَلْبِهِ وَأَنَّهُ إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ

24.             Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo istajeeboo lillahi walilrrasooli itha daAAakum lima yuhyeekum waiAAlamoo anna Allaha yahoolu bayna almari waqalbihi waannahu ilayhi tuhsharoona
O people, who have brought Faith, run to the call of Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) when Rasool calls you towards that which is going to give you life, and must know that Allâh is in between a person and his/her heart and you will be gathered towards HIM.

وَاتَّقُواْ فِتْنَةً لاَّ تُصِيبَنَّ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ مِنكُمْ خَآصَّةً وَاعْلَمُواْ أَنَّ اللّهَ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ

25.             Waittaqoo fitnatan la tuseebanna allatheena thalamoo minkum khassatan waiAAlamoo anna Allaha shadeedu alAAiqabi
And guard yourselves against that mischief (Fitnah) in particular whose adversity will not be limited only to those people among you who have committed sins (it will afflict the good people as well as the bad).  And remember that Allâh is Severe in punishment.

وَاذْكُرُواْ إِذْ أَنتُمْ قَلِيلٌ مُّسْتَضْعَفُونَ فِي الأَرْضِ تَخَافُونَ أَن يَتَخَطَّفَكُمُ النَّاسُ فَآوَاكُمْ وَأَيَّدَكُم بِنَصْرِهِ وَرَزَقَكُم مِّنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ

26.             Waothkuroo ith antum qaleelun mustadAAafoona fee alardi takhafoona an yatakhattafakumu alnnasu faawakum waayyadakum binasrihi warazaqakum mina alttayyibati laAAallakum tashkuroona
Recall that time when you were a few in numbers, you were considered powerless on the earth, and feared that the people should not eliminate you.  Then Allâh provided you a shelter, strengthened your hands with HIS Help and provided you the best provisions, perhaps you may become thankful.

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ لاَ تَخُونُواْ اللّهَ وَالرَّسُولَ وَتَخُونُواْ أَمَانَاتِكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ

27.             Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la takhoonoo Allaha waalrrasoola watakhoonoo amanatikum waantum taAAlamoona
O people who have brought Faith, do not intentionally do dishonesty with Allâh and HIS Rasool (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), do not commit betrayal in your entrusts (Amânât)

وَاعْلَمُواْ أَنَّمَا أَمْوَالُكُمْ وَأَوْلاَدُكُمْ فِتْنَةٌ وَأَنَّ اللّهَ عِندَهُ أَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌ

28.             WaiAAlamoo annama amwalukum waawladukum fitnatun waanna Allaha AAindahu ajrun AAatheemun
And know that your wealth (possessions) and your children are in fact things of test (for you) and there is plenty with Allâh to give as reward. (R) 17

يِا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ إَن تَتَّقُواْ اللّهَ يَجْعَل لَّكُمْ فُرْقَاناً وَيُكَفِّرْ عَنكُمْ سَيِّئَاتِكُمْ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ وَاللّهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ

29.             Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo in tattaqoo Allaha yajAAal lakum furqanan wayukaffir AAankum sayyiatikum wayaghfir lakum waAllahu thoo alfadli alAAatheemi
O people who have brought Faith, if you will adopt the piety then Allâh will grant you a criterion (Furqân) and will remove your sins from you and will forgive your sins. Allâh is Oft Loving.

وَإِذْ يَمْكُرُ بِكَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لِيُثْبِتُوكَ أَوْ يَقْتُلُوكَ أَوْ يُخْرِجُوكَ وَيَمْكُرُونَ وَيَمْكُرُ اللّهُ وَاللّهُ خَيْرُ الْمَاكِرِينَ

30.            Waith yamkuru bika allatheena kafaroo liyuthbitooka aw yaqtulooka aw yukhrijooka wayamkuroona wayamkuru Allahu waAllahu khayru almakireena
It is also worth to remember that time when the deniers of truth were planning against you to imprison you or kill you or exile you.  They were preparing their plots and Allâh was preparing HIS Plan and Allâh is the Best of all the planners.

وَإِذَا تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتُنَا قَالُواْ قَدْ سَمِعْنَا لَوْ نَشَاء لَقُلْنَا مِثْلَ هَـذَا إِنْ هَـذَا إِلاَّ أَسَاطِيرُ الأوَّلِينَ

31.            Waitha tutla AAalayhim ayatuna qaloo qad samiAAna law nashao laqulna mithla hatha in hatha illa asateeru alawwaleena
When OUR Verses were recited to them they used to say: " Yes we have heard, we want we can also make such things, these are the same old stories which people have been telling for a long ago."

وَإِذْ قَالُواْ اللَّهُمَّ إِن كَانَ هَـذَا هُوَ الْحَقَّ مِنْ عِندِكَ فَأَمْطِرْ عَلَيْنَا حِجَارَةً مِّنَ السَّمَاء أَوِ ائْتِنَا بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ

32.            Waith qaloo allahumma in kana hatha huwa alhaqqa min AAindika faamtir AAalayna hijaratan mina alssamai awi itina biAAathabin aleemin
And also remember that thing which they said that: "O Allâh if in fact it is Truth from YOU then shower down stones on us from the sky or bring some painful torment on us."

وَمَا كَانَ اللّهُ لِيُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَأَنتَ فِيهِمْ وَمَا كَانَ اللّهُ مُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ

33.            Wama kana Allahu liyuAAaththibahum waanta feehim wama kana Allahu muAAaththibahum wahum yastaghfiroona
At that time Allâh was not going to send down punishment on them when you were present among them, and nor it is a principle of Allâh that people are seeking forgiveness and he punishes them.

وَمَا لَهُمْ أَلاَّ يُعَذِّبَهُمُ اللّهُ وَهُمْ يَصُدُّونَ عَنِ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ وَمَا كَانُواْ أَوْلِيَاءهُ إِنْ أَوْلِيَآؤُهُ إِلاَّ الْمُتَّقُونَ وَلَـكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ

34.            Wama lahum alla yuAAaththibahumu Allahu wahum yasuddoona AAani almasjidi alharami wama kanoo awliyaahu in awliyaohu illa almuttaqoona walakinna aktharahum la yaAAlamoona
Now why should HE not send torment on them while they are blocking the path to Al-Masjid-al-Harâm, whereas they are not the lawful guardians of this Masjid (Muslims place of worship)?  Its lawful guardians could be only the pious (Al-Muttaqûn) people, but most of the people do not know this thing.

وَمَا كَانَ صَلاَتُهُمْ عِندَ الْبَيْتِ إِلاَّ مُكَاء وَتَصْدِيَةً فَذُوقُواْ الْعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ

35.             Wama kana salatuhum AAinda albayti illa mukaan watasdiyatan fathooqoo alAAathaba bima kuntum takfuroona
What is their prayer (Salât) near the House of Allâh?  It is nothing but whistling and clapping of hands.  Therefore, now taste the punishment in compensation for your denial of the truth, which you have been doing.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُنفِقُونَ أَمْوَالَهُمْ لِيَصُدُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِ اللّهِ فَسَيُنفِقُونَهَا ثُمَّ تَكُونُ عَلَيْهِمْ حَسْرَةً ثُمَّ يُغْلَبُونَ وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ إِلَى جَهَنَّمَ يُحْشَرُونَ

36.             Inna allatheena kafaroo yunfiqoona amwalahum liyasuddoo AAan sabeeli Allahi fasayunfiqoonaha thumma takoonu AAalayhim hasratan thumma yughlaboona waallatheena kafaroo ila jahannama yuhsharoona
Those who have denied accepting the Truth they are spending their wealth to block from the Path of Allâh and still they will keep spending more, but eventually these efforts will be the cause of their regrets, then they will be subdued, then these infidels (Kafir) will be gathered and brought to Hell.

لِيَمِيزَ اللّهُ الْخَبِيثَ مِنَ الطَّيِّبِ وَيَجْعَلَ الْخَبِيثَ بَعْضَهُ عَلَىَ بَعْضٍ فَيَرْكُمَهُ جَمِيعاً فَيَجْعَلَهُ فِي جَهَنَّمَ أُوْلَـئِكَ هُمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ

37.             Liyameeza Allahu alkhabeetha mina alttayyibi wayajAAala alkhabeetha baAAdahu AAala baAAdin fayarkumahu jameeAAan fayajAAalahu fee jahannama olaika humu alkhasiroona
So that Allâh should separate the filth from the pureness and gather all kinds of filth together and then throw this heap (of filth) into the Hell-fire.  These people in fact are the real losers. (R) 18

قُل لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ إِن يَنتَهُواْ يُغَفَرْ لَهُم مَّا قَدْ سَلَفَ وَإِنْ يَعُودُواْ فَقَدْ مَضَتْ سُنَّةُ الأَوَّلِينِ

38.             Qul lillatheena kafaroo in yantahoo yughfar lahum ma qad salafa wain yaAAoodoo faqad madat sunnatu alawwaleena
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), tell these infidels (Kafir) that if even now they stop then whatever have happened before will be forgiven, but if they will repeat the same old thing then everyone knows what happened to the people before them.

وَقَاتِلُوهُمْ حَتَّى لاَ تَكُونَ فِتْنَةٌ وَيَكُونَ الدِّينُ كُلُّهُ لِلّه فَإِنِ انتَهَوْاْ فَإِنَّ اللّهَ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ

39.             Waqatiloohum hatta la takoona fitnatun wayakoona alddeenu kulluhu lillahi faini intahaw fainna Allaha bima yaAAmaloona baseerun
O people, who have brought Faith, fight against these infidels (Kafir) until no mischief (Fitnah) remains and the Deen (Islam -- the way of life) is completely established for Allâh.  Then if they stop from mischief then Allâh is the watcher over their deeds,

وَإِن تَوَلَّوْاْ فَاعْلَمُواْ أَنَّ اللّهَ مَوْلاَكُمْ نِعْمَ الْمَوْلَى وَنِعْمَ النَّصِيرُ

40.             Wain tawallaw faiAAlamoo anna Allaha mawlakum niAAma almawla waniAAma alnnaseeru
And if they do not accept then know that Allâh is your guardian (Maulâ) and HE is an Excellent Supporter and Helper
