Chapter 25

بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمـَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi
(I) Begin with the Name of Allâh WHO is Most Loving and Most Merciful

إِلَيْهِ يُرَدُّ عِلْمُ السَّاعَةِ وَمَا تَخْرُجُ مِن ثَمَرَاتٍ مِّنْ أَكْمَامِهَا وَمَا تَحْمِلُ مِنْ أُنثَى وَلَا تَضَعُ إِلَّا بِعِلْمِهِ وَيَوْمَ يُنَادِيهِمْ أَيْنَ شُرَكَائِي قَالُوا آذَنَّاكَ مَا مِنَّا مِن شَهِيدٍ

47               Ilayhi yuraddu AAilmu alssaAAati wama takhruju min thamaratin min akmamiha wama tahmilu min ontha wala tadaAAu illa biAAilmihi wayawma yunadeehim ayna shurakaee qaloo athannaka ma minna min shaheedin
The knowledge of that Hour is with Allâh Alone, HE Knows all those fruits, which come out of its petals, HE Knows which female has conceived and who has given birth to a child.  And the Day when HE will call these people: "Where are MY those associates?"  They will say: "We have already submitted, today no one among us is going to testify for it."

وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا يَدْعُونَ مِن قَبْلُ وَظَنُّوا مَا لَهُم مِّن مَّحِيصٍ

48               Wadalla AAanhum ma kanoo yadAAoona min qablu wathannoo ma lahum min maheesin
At that time all those deities will be lost from them whom they used to call before it, and these people will perceive that there is no place of refuge for them.

لَا يَسْأَمُ الْإِنسَانُ مِن دُعَاء الْخَيْرِ وَإِن مَّسَّهُ الشَّرُّ فَيَؤُوسٌ قَنُوطٌ

49               La yasamu alinsanu min duAAai alkhayri wain massahu alshsharru fayaoosun qanootun
Human never gets tired praying for the good, and when any calamity comes on him/her then becomes desperate and gives-up all hopes, 

وَلَئِنْ أَذَقْنَاهُ رَحْمَةً مِّنَّا مِن بَعْدِ ضَرَّاء مَسَّتْهُ لَيَقُولَنَّ هَذَا لِي وَمَا أَظُنُّ السَّاعَةَ قَائِمَةً وَلَئِن رُّجِعْتُ إِلَى رَبِّي إِنَّ لِي عِندَهُ لَلْحُسْنَى فَلَنُنَبِّئَنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِمَا عَمِلُوا وَلَنُذِيقَنَّهُم مِّنْ عَذَابٍ غَلِيظٍ

50               Walain athaqnahu rahmatan minna min baAAdi darraa massathu layaqoolanna hatha lee wama athunnu alssaAAata qaimatan walain rujiAAtu ila rabbee inna lee AAindahu lalhusna falanunabbianna allatheena kafaroo bima AAamiloo walanutheeqannahum min AAathabin ghaleethin
But as soon as WE let him/her taste OUR Blessings after the adversity (is over), he/she says, "I deserve it and I do not think that the Hour will ever come, but if I will really be taken back to my Râbb then I will also enjoy there”.  Whereas WE shall surely tell those who committed infidelity that what they have earned and WE shall make them to taste very severe torment.

وَإِذَا أَنْعَمْنَا عَلَى الْإِنسَانِ أَعْرَضَ وَنَأى بِجَانِبِهِ وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ فَذُو دُعَاء عَرِيضٍ

51               Waitha anAAamna AAala alinsani aAArada wanaa bijanibihi waitha massahu alshsharru fathoo duAAain AAareedin
When WE give favor to human then he/she turns away and becomes arrogant.  And when any evil touches him/her then he/she starts praying for long hours. 

قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِن كَانَ مِنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ كَفَرْتُم بِهِ مَنْ أَضَلُّ مِمَّنْ هُوَ فِي شِقَاقٍ بَعِيدٍ

52               Qul araaytum in kana min AAindi Allahi thumma kafartum bihi man adallu mimman huwa fee shiqaqin baAAeedin
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam), ask them: "Have you ever thought that if this Al-Qur'ân is from Allâh and you keep rejecting it then who else will be more astray than the one who is gone that far away in its opposition? 

سَنُرِيهِمْ آيَاتِنَا فِي الْآفَاقِ وَفِي أَنفُسِهِمْ حَتَّى يَتَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ أَوَلَمْ يَكْفِ بِرَبِّكَ أَنَّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ

53               Sanureehim ayatina fee alafaqi wafee anfusihim hatta yatabayyana lahum annahu alhaqqu awa lam yakfi birabbika annahu AAala kulli shayin shaheedun
Soon WE will show them OUR Signs in the universe and also in their ownselves until this thing will be manifested to them that this Al-Qur'ân is the truth.  Is it not sufficient that your Râbb is Witness over everything?

اَلَاۤ اِنَّہُمۡ فِیۡ مِرۡیَۃٍ مِّنۡ لِّقَآءِ رَبِّہِمۡ ؕ اَلَاۤ اِنَّہٗ بِکُلِّ شَیۡءٍ مُّحِیۡطٌ

54               Ala innahum fee miryatin min liqai rabbihim ala innahu bikulli shayin muheetun
Be aware, these people have doubts in meeting with their Râbb.  Listen -- HE is predominating over everything.  (R) 1

بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمـَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi
(I) Begin with the Name of Allâh WHO is Most Loving and Most Merciful

حم

1.                 Hâ­Mîm.
(Hameem -- these are prefixes, muqatta’at, only Allâh, subhaana wa ta'aala, knows the meanings)

عسق

2.                'Aîn­Sîn­Qâf
(AAaynseenqaf -- only Allâh, subhaana wa ta'aala, knows the meanings)

كَذَلِكَ يُوحِي إِلَيْكَ وَإِلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكَ اللَّهُ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ

3.                Kathalika yoohee ilayka waila allatheena min qablika Allahu alAAazeezu alhakeemu
The same way Allâh Omnipotent and All Wise has been sending Revelation to you as well as toward those (Rasools) who were before you.

لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ

4.                Lahu ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi wahuwa alAAaliyyu alAAatheemu
Whatever is in the skies and in the earth all that belongs to HIM, HE is the Most High and the Greatest.

تَكَادُ السَّمَاوَاتُ يَتَفَطَّرْنَ مِن فَوْقِهِنَّ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَ لِمَن فِي الْأَرْضِ أَلَا إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ

5.                Takadu alssamawatu yatafattarna min fawqihinna waalmalaikatu yusabbihoona bihamdi rabbihim wayastaghfiroona liman fee alardi ala inna Allaha huwa alghafooru alrraheemu
It is near that the skies may blast from above.  The angels are glorifying their Râbb with HIS praises and keep asking forgiveness for those who are on the earth.  Be aware, in fact Allâh is Oft-Forgiving and Most Loving.

وَالَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِهِ أَولِيَاء اللَّهُ حَفِيظٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَمَا أَنتَ عَلَيْهِم بِوَكِيلٍ

6.                Waallatheena ittakhathoo min doonihi awliyaa Allahu hafeethun AAalayhim wama anta AAalayhim biwakeelin
Those people who have taken some other deities (Auliyâ') except HIM, Allâh is watching (Hafîz) over them, you are not their governor (Wakîl).

وَكَذَلِكَ أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ قُرْآنًا عَرَبِيًّا لِّتُنذِرَ أُمَّ الْقُرَى وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَا وَتُنذِرَ يَوْمَ الْجَمْعِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ فَرِيقٌ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَفَرِيقٌ فِي السَّعِيرِ

7.                Wakathalika awhayna ilayka quranan AAarabiyyan litunthira omma alqura waman hawlaha watunthira yawma aljamAAi la rayba feehi fareequn fee aljannati wafareequn fee alssaAAeeri
Yes, O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) the same way WE have Revealed this Arabic Qur'ân to you -- so that you may warn the people of the center of the city (Mother of the Towns, Makkah) and of its surroundings, and scare them from the Day of assembling, there is no doubt of its coming.  One group has to go to Paradise while other group has to go to Hell.

وَلَوْ شَاء اللَّهُ لَجَعَلَهُمْ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً وَلَكِن يُدْخِلُ مَن يَشَاء فِي رَحْمَتِهِ وَالظَّالِمُونَ مَا لَهُم مِّن وَلِيٍّ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ

8.                Walaw shaa Allahu lajaAAalahum ommatan wahidatan walakin yudkhilu man yashao fee rahmatihi waalththalimoona ma lahum min waliyyin wala naseerin
If Allâh wanted HE could have made all of them as one nation, but HE admits to HIS Mercy whom HE wills, and the criminals (Zâlimûn) have neither any protector nor any helper.

أَمِ اتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِهِ أَوْلِيَاء فَاللَّهُ هُوَ الْوَلِيُّ وَهُوَ يُحْيِي المَوْتَى وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

9.                Ami ittakhathoo min doonihi awliyaa faAllahu huwa alwaliyyu wahuwa yuhyee almawta wahuwa AAala kulli shayin qadeerun
Are they (so foolish that) they have taken other protectors (Auliyâ') except HIM?  Allâh Alone is the Protector (Walî), HE is the One WHO gives life to the dead and HE is predominating over everything.  (R) 2

وَمَا اخْتَلَفْتُمْ فِيهِ مِن شَيْءٍ فَحُكْمُهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ ذَلِكُمُ اللَّهُ رَبِّي عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْهِ أُنِيبُ

10.            Wama ikhtalaftum feehi min shayin fahukmuhu ila Allahi thalikumu Allahu rabbee AAalayhi tawakkaltu wailayhi oneebu
In whatever matters you may have conflict between yourselves, to give a decision about it is for Allâh.  The same Allâh is my Râbb, I have entrusted HIM, and to HIM I return (in all my affairs).

فَاطِرُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَاجًا وَمِنَ الْأَنْعَامِ أَزْوَاجًا يَذْرَؤُكُمْ فِيهِ لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ البَصِيرُ

11.            Fatiru alssamawati waalardi jaAAala lakum min anfusikum azwajan wamina alanAAami azwajan yathraokum feehi laysa kamithlihi shayon wahuwa alssameeAAu albaseeru
The Creator of the skies and the earth, WHO created your mates from your own kind, and in the same way made the mates among the animals (from their own kind), and with this method, HE spreads your progeny.  There is nothing in the universe resembling to HIM, HE Hears and Sees everything, 

لَهُ مَقَالِيدُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ يَبْسُطُ الرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَاء وَيَقْدِرُ إِنَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ

12.            Lahu maqaleedu alssamawati waalardi yabsutu alrrizqa liman yashao wayaqdiru innahu bikulli shayin AAaleemun
The keys of the treasures of the skies and the earth are with HIM, HE gives in abundance whomever HE Pleases and gives in fixed measures whomever HE Wills, and HE has the knowledge of everything.

شَرَعَ لَكُم مِّنَ الدِّينِ مَا وَصَّى بِهِ نُوحًا وَالَّذِي أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ وَمَا وَصَّيْنَا بِهِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَمُوسَى وَعِيسَى أَنْ أَقِيمُوا الدِّينَ وَلَا تَتَفَرَّقُوا فِيهِ كَبُرَ عَلَى الْمُشْرِكِينَ مَا تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَيْهِ اللَّهُ يَجْتَبِي إِلَيْهِ مَن يَشَاء وَيَهْدِي إِلَيْهِ مَن يُنِيبُ

13.            SharaAAa lakum mina alddeeni ma wassa bihi noohan waallathee awhayna ilayka wama wassayna bihi ibraheema wamoosa waAAeesa an aqeemoo alddeena wala tatafarraqoo feehi kabura AAala almushrikeena ma tadAAoohum ilayhi Allahu yajtabee ilayhi man yashao wayahdee ilayhi man yuneebu
HE has appointed the same way of the Deen (Islamic way of life) for you which HE had ordained for Nûh, and which (O Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) now (WE) have sent down to you by Revelation, and its advice WE have given to Ibrahîm and Mûsa and 'Iesa, with this emphasis that establish this Deen (Islamic way of life) and do not create divisions in it.  This thing has been intolerable for the idolaters (Mushrikûn) towards which you (O Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) are inviting them.  Allâh chooses for HIMSELF whom HE Wills, and HE Guides to HIS Path only those who turn to HIM. 

وَمَا تَفَرَّقُوا إِلَّا مِن بَعْدِ مَا جَاءهُمُ الْعِلْمُ بَغْيًا بَيْنَهُمْ وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٌ سَبَقَتْ مِن رَّبِّكَ إِلَى أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى لَّقُضِيَ بَيْنَهُمْ وَإِنَّ الَّذِينَ أُورِثُوا الْكِتَابَ مِن بَعْدِهِمْ لَفِي شَكٍّ مِّنْهُ مُرِيبٍ

14.            Wama tafarraqoo illa min baAAdi ma jaahumu alAAilmu baghyan baynahum walawla kalimatun sabaqat min rabbika ila ajalin musamman laqudiya baynahum wainna allatheena oorithoo alkitaba min baAAdihim lafee shakkin minhu mureebin
The conflict originated among the people after the Knowledge had come to them, and the reason behind it was that -- they wanted to do injustice against one another.  If your Râbb had not already said it that the decision will be postponed until an appointed term then their matters would have been settled.  And the fact is that after the formers those people who were made the heirs of the Book they are in faultfinding doubt about it.

فَلِذَلِكَ فَادْعُ وَاسْتَقِمْ كَمَا أُمِرْتَ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاءهُمْ وَقُلْ آمَنتُ بِمَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ مِن كِتَابٍ وَأُمِرْتُ لِأَعْدِلَ بَيْنَكُمُ اللَّهُ رَبُّنَا وَرَبُّكُمْ لَنَا أَعْمَالُنَا وَلَكُمْ أَعْمَالُكُمْ لَا حُجَّةَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمُ اللَّهُ يَجْمَعُ بَيْنَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ الْمَصِيرُ

15.            Falithalika faodAAu waistaqim kama omirta wala tattabiAA ahwaahum waqul amantu bima anzala Allahu min kitabin waomirtu liaAAdila baynakum Allahu rabbuna warabbukum lana aAAmaluna walakum aAAmalukum la hujjata baynana wabaynakumu Allahu yajmaAAu baynana wailayhi almaseeru
(Because this situation has been created)  Therefore, O Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, now you should invite (them) toward the Deen (Islamic way of life), and the way you have been commanded stand firmly on it (Istaqim), and do not follow the desires of these people, and tell them: "Whichever Book Allâh has Revealed I brought Faith in it.  I have been commanded to do justice among you.  Allâh Alone is our Râbb and your Râbb.  Our deeds are for us and your deeds are for you.  There is no dispute between us.  One day Allâh will assemble us all and all have to return to HIM”. 

وَالَّذِينَ يُحَاجُّونَ فِي اللَّهِ مِن بَعْدِ مَا اسْتُجِيبَ لَهُ حُجَّتُهُمْ دَاحِضَةٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ وَعَلَيْهِمْ غَضَبٌ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ

16.            Waallatheena yuhajjoona fee Allahi min baAAdi ma istujeeba lahu hujjatuhum dahidatun AAinda rabbihim waAAalayhim ghadabun walahum AAathabun shadeedun
After embracing the invitation of Allâh those people who dispute (with those who have embraced it) about Allâh; their argumentation is false (baseless) before their Râbb, and HIS Wrath is on them and there is a severe punishment for them. 

اللَّهُ الَّذِي أَنزَلَ الْكِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ وَالْمِيزَانَ وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّ السَّاعَةَ قَرِيبٌ

17.            Allahu allathee anzala alkitaba bialhaqqi waalmeezani wama yudreeka laAAalla alssaAAata qareebun
HE is Allâh WHO has sent down this Book (Al-Qur'ân) and the Criteria with truth.  And what do you know; perhaps the Hour of Judgment may have come closer. 

يَسْتَعْجِلُ بِهَا الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهَا وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مُشْفِقُونَ مِنْهَا وَيَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهَا الْحَقُّ أَلَا إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يُمَارُونَ فِي السَّاعَةِ لَفِي ضَلَالٍ بَعِيدٍ

18.            YastaAAjilu biha allatheena la yuminoona biha waallatheena amanoo mushfiqoona minha wayaAAlamoona annaha alhaqqu ala inna allatheena yumaroona fee alssaAAati lafee dalalin baAAeedin
Those people who do not have Faith on its coming they hasten for it, but those who have Faith in it they are fearful of it and know that it is certainly going to come.  Note it well, those people who argue to create doubt about the coming of that Hour they have gone far astray in error.

اللَّهُ لَطِيفٌ بِعِبَادِهِ يَرْزُقُ مَن يَشَاء وَهُوَ الْقَوِيُّ العَزِيزُ

19.            Allahu lateefun biAAibadihi yarzuqu man yashao wahuwa alqawiyyu alAAazeezu
Allâh is very Kind to HIS devotees.  HE gives whosoever whatever provisions HE Pleases, and HE is Omnipotent and All-Strong.  (R) 3

مَن كَانَ يُرِيدُ حَرْثَ الْآخِرَةِ نَزِدْ لَهُ فِي حَرْثِهِ وَمَن كَانَ يُرِيدُ حَرْثَ الدُّنْيَا نُؤتِهِ مِنْهَا وَمَا لَهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ مِن نَّصِيبٍ

20.            Man kana yureedu hartha alakhirati nazid lahu fee harthihi waman kana yureedu hartha alddunya nutihi minha wama lahu fee alakhirati min naseebin
Whosoever desires the reward of the Hereafter WE increase his/her reward, and whosoever desires the reward of this world WE only give him/her in this world but he/she does not have any share in the Hereafter.

أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَاء شَرَعُوا لَهُم مِّنَ الدِّينِ مَا لَمْ يَأْذَن بِهِ اللَّهُ وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةُ الْفَصْلِ لَقُضِيَ بَيْنَهُمْ وَإِنَّ الظَّالِمِينَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

21.            Am lahum shurakao sharaAAoo lahum mina alddeeni ma lam yathan bihi Allahu walawla kalimatu alfasli laqudiya baynahum wainna alththalimeena lahum AAathabun aleemun
Do these people have some such partners with Allâh who have instituted such a way like Deen (the way of life) for them that Allâh has not allowed?  If the statement of decision has not already been settled then their matters would have been settled.  Certainly there is severe punishment for these cruel (Zâlimûn).

تَرَى الظَّالِمِينَ مُشْفِقِينَ مِمَّا كَسَبُوا وَهُوَ وَاقِعٌ بِهِمْ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فِي رَوْضَاتِ الْجَنَّاتِ لَهُم مَّا يَشَاؤُونَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الْفَضْلُ الكَبِيرُ

22.            Tara alththalimeena mushfiqeena mimma kasaboo wahuwa waqiAAun bihim waallatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati fee rawdati aljannati lahum ma yashaoona AAinda rabbihim thalika huwa alfadlu alkabeeru
At that time you will see that these cruel (Zâlimûn) will fear the consequences of their deeds and it will surely going to seize them.  Contrary to it -- those people who have brought Faith and who have done righteous deeds they will be in the Gardens of the Paradise, whatever they will desire they will have it with their Râbb, this is an excellent Blessing.

ذَلِكَ الَّذِي يُبَشِّرُ اللَّهُ عِبَادَهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ قُل لَّا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا إِلَّا الْمَوَدَّةَ فِي الْقُرْبَى وَمَن يَقْتَرِفْ حَسَنَةً نَّزِدْ لَهُ فِيهَا حُسْنًا إِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ شَكُورٌ

23.            Thalika allathee yubashshiru Allahu AAibadahu allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati qul la asalukum AAalayhi ajran illa almawaddata fee alqurba waman yaqtarif hasanatan nazid lahu feeha husnan inna Allaha ghafoorun shakoorun
This is the thing whose good news Allâh gives to HIS those devotees who believed and did righteous deeds.  O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), tell these people: "I do not desire any reward from you for this task, however I do expect the love of relationship”.  Whosoever will earn the righteous deeds WE shall increase virtue in that righteousness for him/her.  No doubt, Allâh is Oft-Forgiving and Most Appreciative.

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ افْتَرَى عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا فَإِن يَشَأِ اللَّهُ يَخْتِمْ عَلَى قَلْبِكَ وَيَمْحُ اللَّهُ الْبَاطِلَ وَيُحِقُّ الْحَقَّ بِكَلِمَاتِهِ إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ

24.            Am yaqooloona iftara AAala Allahi kathiban fain yashai Allahu yakhtim AAala qalbika wayamhu Allahu albatila wayuhiqqu alhaqqa bikalimatihi innahu AAaleemun bithati alssudoori
Do these people say that: "He has invented a lie against Allâh?"  If Allâh wants, HE may seal your hearts.  HE eradicates the falsehood and proves the truth to be true by HIS Words.  HE even knows the hidden secrets of the hearts.

وَهُوَ الَّذِي يَقْبَلُ التَّوْبَةَ عَنْ عِبَادِهِ وَيَعْفُو عَنِ السَّيِّئَاتِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ

25.            Wahuwa allathee yaqbalu alttawbata AAan AAibadihi wayaAAfoo AAani alssayyiati wayaAAlamu ma tafAAaloona
HE is the One WHO accepts repentance from HIS servants and ignores the sins whereas HE knows all about your deeds.

وَيَسْتَجِيبُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَيَزِيدُهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِ وَالْكَافِرُونَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ

26.            Wayastajeebu allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati wayazeeduhum min fadlihi waalkafiroona lahum AAathabun shadeedun
HE accepts the prayers of those who bring Faith and do righteous deeds and (HE) gives them even more with HIS Blessing.  As for the deniers, there is severe punishment for them. 

وَلَوْ بَسَطَ اللَّهُ الرِّزْقَ لِعِبَادِهِ لَبَغَوْا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَكِن يُنَزِّلُ بِقَدَرٍ مَّا يَشَاء إِنَّهُ بِعِبَادِهِ خَبِيرٌ بَصِيرٌ

27.            Walaw basata Allahu alrrizqa liAAibadihi labaghaw fee alardi walakin yunazzilu biqadarin ma yashao innahu biAAibadihi khabeerun baseerun
If Allâh has given affluence provisions to all HIS servants then they would have rebelled in the earth at their utmost, but HE sends down in due measure as much as HE wants, surely HE is well aware of HIS servants and watches over them.

وَهُوَ الَّذِي يُنَزِّلُ الْغَيْثَ مِن بَعْدِ مَا قَنَطُوا وَيَنشُرُ رَحْمَتَهُ وَهُوَ الْوَلِيُّ الْحَمِيدُ

28.            Wahuwa allathee yunazzilu alghaytha min baAAdi ma qanatoo wayanshuru rahmatahu wahuwa alwaliyyu alhameedu
HE is the One WHO sends down the rain after the people have last their hopes and spreads HIS Blessings, and HE is the praise worthy Guardian (Walî). 

وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ خَلْقُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَثَّ فِيهِمَا مِن دَابَّةٍ وَهُوَ عَلَى جَمْعِهِمْ إِذَا يَشَاء قَدِيرٌ

29.            Wamin ayatihi khalqu alssamawati waalardi wama baththa feehima min dabbatin wahuwa AAala jamAAihim itha yashao qadeerun
Among HIS Signs (Ayât) is the creation of the skies and the earth, and these living creatures, which HE has spread in both places.  Whenever HE wants (HE) can gather them together.  (R) 4

وَمَا أَصَابَكُم مِّن مُّصِيبَةٍ فَبِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَيَعْفُو عَن كَثِيرٍ

30.            Wama asabakum min museebatin fabima kasabat aydeekum wayaAAfoo AAan katheerin
Whatever adversity has come to you, it has come because of the earnings of your own hands, and HE just ignores many of your mistakes. 

وَمَا أَنتُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ مِن وَلِيٍّ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ

31.            Wama antum bimuAAjizeena fee alardi wama lakum min dooni Allahi min waliyyin wala naseerin
You cannot fail your Râbb in the earth, and you do not have any helper and protector against Allâh.

وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ الْجَوَارِ فِي الْبَحْرِ كَالْأَعْلَامِ

32.            Wamin ayatihi aljawari fee albahri kaalaAAlami
Among HIS Signs are these ships, which looks like mountains in the ocean. 

إِن يَشَأْ يُسْكِنِ الرِّيحَ فَيَظْلَلْنَ رَوَاكِدَ عَلَى ظَهْرِهِ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّكُلِّ صَبَّارٍ شَكُورٍ

33.            In yasha yuskini alrreeha fayathlalna rawakida AAala thahrihi inna fee thalika laayatin likulli sabbarin shakoorin
Whenever Allâh wants HE can still (halt) the wind and they kept standing (become motionless) on the surface (back) of the sea--there are many signs in it for every such person who is most patient and grateful--

أَوْ يُوبِقْهُنَّ بِمَا كَسَبُوا وَيَعْفُ عَن كَثِيرٍ

34.            Aw yoobiqhunna bima kasaboo wayaAAfu AAan katheerin
Or HE may drown them as result of their a few sins while forgiving many sins (of those who embarked in it),

وَيَعْلَمَ الَّذِينَ يُجَادِلُونَ فِي آيَاتِنَا مَا لَهُم مِّن مَّحِيصٍ

35.            WayaAAlama allatheena yujadiloona fee ayatina ma lahum min maheesin
And then those people who disputed about OUR Revelation (Ayât) may come to know that there is no place of refuge for them. 

فَمَا أُوتِيتُم مِّن شَيْءٍ فَمَتَاعُ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَمَا عِندَ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَى لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ

36.            Fama ooteetum min shayin famataAAu alhayati alddunya wama AAinda Allahi khayrun waabqa lillatheena amanoo waAAala rabbihim yatawakkaloona
Whatever you people have been given that is only provisions of this temporary life of the world, and whatever is with Allâh that is excellent as well as everlasting.  It is for those people who have brought Faith and entrust their Râbb, 

وَالَّذِينَ يَجْتَنِبُونَ كَبَائِرَ الْإِثْمِ وَالْفَوَاحِشَ وَإِذَا مَا غَضِبُوا هُمْ يَغْفِرُونَ

37.            Waallatheena yajtaniboona kabaira alithmi waalfawahisha waitha ma ghadiboo hum yaghfiroona
Those who refrain from bigger sins and indecencies (Al-Fawâhish) and if (they) get angry they forbear it, 

وَالَّذِينَ اسْتَجَابُوا لِرَبِّهِمْ وَأَقَامُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَأَمْرُهُمْ شُورَى بَيْنَهُمْ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ

38.            Waallatheena istajaboo lirabbihim waaqamoo alssalata waamruhum shoora baynahum wamimma razaqnahum yunfiqoona
Who obey the commandments of their Râbb, establish prayer (Salât), conduct their affairs with mutual counseling, whatever provisions WE have given them they spend from it,

وَالَّذِينَ إِذَا أَصَابَهُمُ الْبَغْيُ هُمْ يَنتَصِرُونَ

39.            Waallatheena itha asabahumu albaghyu hum yantasiroona
And when they are oppressed they encounter it--

وَجَزَاء سَيِّئَةٍ سَيِّئَةٌ مِّثْلُهَا فَمَنْ عَفَا وَأَصْلَحَ فَأَجْرُهُ عَلَى اللَّهِ إِنَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الظَّالِمِينَ

40.            Wajazao sayyiatin sayyiatun mithluha faman AAafa waaslaha faajruhu AAala Allahi innahu la yuhibbu alththalimeena
The pay back for an evil is a similar evil (tit for tat), then if someone forgives and reforms -- his/her reward is with Allâh, Allâh does not like the cruel (Zâlimûn).

وَلَمَنِ انتَصَرَ بَعْدَ ظُلْمِهِ فَأُوْلَئِكَ مَا عَلَيْهِم مِّن سَبِيلٍ

41.            Walamani intasara baAAda thulmihi faolaika ma AAalayhim min sabeelin
And those people who take revenge after they have been wronged they cannot be blamed,

إِنَّمَا السَّبِيلُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ يَظْلِمُونَ النَّاسَ وَيَبْغُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ أُوْلَئِكَ لَهُم عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

42.            Innama alssabeelu AAala allatheena yathlimoona alnnasa wayabghoona fee alardi bighayri alhaqqi olaika lahum AAathabun aleemun
Those are the entitled to blame who do wrong to others (are oppressors) and make mischief on the earth without any justification.  There is severe punishment for such people.

وَلَمَن صَبَرَ وَغَفَرَ إِنَّ ذَلِكَ لَمِنْ عَزْمِ الْأُمُورِ

43.            Walaman sabara waghafara inna thalika lamin AAazmi alomoori
However, the one who remains patient and forbears, then it is from the tasks of great determination.  (R) 5

وَمَن يُضْلِلِ اللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُ مِن وَلِيٍّ مِّن بَعْدِهِ وَتَرَى الظَّالِمِينَ لَمَّا رَأَوُا الْعَذَابَ يَقُولُونَ هَلْ إِلَى مَرَدٍّ مِّن سَبِيلٍ

44.            Waman yudlili Allahu fama lahu min waliyyin min baAAdihi watara alththalimeena lamma raawoo alAAathaba yaqooloona hal ila maraddin min sabeelin
Whom Allâh throws in an error there is no one who can protect (Walî) him/her after Allâh.  You will see that when these cruel (Zâlimûn) will see the punishment then (they) will ask; "Is there any point of return?" 

وَتَرَاهُمْ يُعْرَضُونَ عَلَيْهَا خَاشِعِينَ مِنَ الذُّلِّ يَنظُرُونَ مِن طَرْفٍ خَفِيٍّ وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنَّ الْخَاسِرِينَ الَّذِينَ خَسِرُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ وَأَهْلِيهِمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَلَا إِنَّ الظَّالِمِينَ فِي عَذَابٍ مُّقِيمٍ

45.            Watarahum yuAAradoona AAalayha khashiAAeena mina alththulli yanthuroona min tarfin khafiyyin waqala allatheena amanoo inna alkhasireena allatheena khasiroo anfusahum waahleehim yawma alqiyamati ala inna alththalimeena fee AAathabin muqeemin
And you will see that when they will be brought in front of Hell then they will be bending because of humiliation and will see it with secret glance.  At that time those people who had brought Faith will say: "The real losers are those who have lost themselves and their families (followers) on this Day of Resurrection.  Beware, the cruel people (Zâlimûn) will be in a constant torment.

وَمَا كَانَ لَهُم مِّنْ أَوْلِيَاء يَنصُرُونَهُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ اللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُ مِن سَبِيلٍ

46.            Wama kana lahum min awliyaa yansuroonahum min dooni Allahi waman yudlili Allahu fama lahu min sabeelin
And there will be no helpers or protectors for them who can help them against Allâh.  Whom Allâh throws in error -- there is no way out for him/her. 

اسْتَجِيبُوا لِرَبِّكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَ يَوْمٌ لَّا مَرَدَّ لَهُ مِنَ اللَّهِ مَا لَكُم مِّن مَّلْجَأٍ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن نَّكِيرٍ

47.            Istajeeboo lirabbikum min qabli an yatiya yawmun la maradda lahu mina Allahi ma lakum min maljain yawmaithin wama lakum min nakeerin
Embrace the Word of your Râbb before the coming of that Day, for which there is no chance of being averted from Allâh.  That Day you will have no place to hide and nor there will be anyone who will try to change your condition.

فَإِنْ أَعْرَضُوا فَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَفِيظًا إِنْ عَلَيْكَ إِلَّا الْبَلَاغُ وَإِنَّا إِذَا أَذَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ مِنَّا رَحْمَةً فَرِحَ بِهَا وَإِن تُصِبْهُمْ سَيِّئَةٌ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ فَإِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ كَفُورٌ

48.            Fain aAAradoo fama arsalnaka AAalayhim hafeethan in AAalayka illa albalaghu wainna itha athaqna alinsana minna rahmatan fariha biha wain tusibhum sayyiatun bima qaddamat aydeehim fainna alinsana kafoorun
Now if these people turn away then O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), WE have not sent you as their protector (Hafîz).  Your responsibility is only to convey the Message.  This is the condition of human that when WE let him/her taste OUR Mercy then he/she brags on it, and if whatever he/she have done by his/her own hands befalls on him/her in the form of adversity then he/she becomes completely ungrateful. 

لِلَّهِ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَاء يَهَبُ لِمَنْ يَشَاء إِنَاثًا وَيَهَبُ لِمَن يَشَاء الذُّكُورَ

49.            Lillahi mulku alssamawati waalardi yakhluqu ma yashao yahabu liman yashao inathan wayahabu liman yashao alththukoora
Allâh is the Holder of the Kingdom of the skies and the earth, (HE) creates whatever HE wants, Whomever HE wants gives only daughters, whomever HE wants gives only sons, 

أَوْ يُزَوِّجُهُمْ ذُكْرَانًا وَإِنَاثًا وَيَجْعَلُ مَن يَشَاء عَقِيمًا إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ قَدِيرٌ

50.            Aw yuzawwijuhum thukranan wainathan wayajAAalu man yashao AAaqeeman innahu AAaleemun qadeerun
Whomever HE wants gives both sons as well as daughters, whomever HE wants causes to become barren.  HE knows everything and dominating over everything.

وَمَا كَانَ لِبَشَرٍ أَن يُكَلِّمَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَّا وَحْيًا أَوْ مِن وَرَاء حِجَابٍ أَوْ يُرْسِلَ رَسُولًا فَيُوحِيَ بِإِذْنِهِ مَا يَشَاء إِنَّهُ عَلِيٌّ حَكِيمٌ

51.            Wama kana libasharin an yukallimahu Allahu illa wahyan aw min warai hijabin aw yursila rasoolan fayoohiya biithnihi ma yashao innahu AAaliyyun hakeemun
It is not the status of any human that Allâh should speak to him face to face.  HIS conversation is either by Inspiration or from behind the curtain or either HE sends messenger (an angel) and he reveals by HIS command whatever HE wills, HE is Most Exalted and Wise. 

وَكَذَلِكَ أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ رُوحًا مِّنْ أَمْرِنَا مَا كُنتَ تَدْرِي مَا الْكِتَابُ وَلَا الْإِيمَانُ وَلَكِن جَعَلْنَاهُ نُورًا نَّهْدِي بِهِ مَنْ نَّشَاء مِنْ عِبَادِنَا وَإِنَّكَ لَتَهْدِي إِلَى صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ

52.            Wakathalika awhayna ilayka roohan min amrina ma kunta tadree ma alkitabu wala aleemanu walakin jaAAalnahu nooran nahdee bihi man nashao min AAibadina wainnaka latahdee ila siratin mustaqeemin
And the same way (O Prophet, Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) WE have sent one Spirit (Ruhan, Angel Jibrail) toward you by OUR Command.  You did not know anything that what is Book and what is Faith, but WE made that Spirit a light (guidance) with which WE show the Path whosoever WE want from among OUR devotees.  Certainly you are guiding toward the Straight Path,

صِرَاطِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ أَلَا إِلَى اللَّهِ تَصِيرُ الأمُورُ

53.            Sirati Allahi allathee lahu ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi ala ila Allahi taseeru alomooru
To the Path of that Allâh WHO is Owner of all that which is in the skies and in the earth.  Be aware, all the affairs return to Allâh (for decision).  (R) 6 

“Az-Zukhruf – Ornaments of Gold” – (Makki – 43^rd Surah)

Total Verses: 89

بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمـَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi
(I) Begin with the Name of Allâh WHO is Most Loving and Most Merciful

حم

1.                Hâ­Mîm.

            (Hameem -- these are prefixes, muqatta’at, only Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala knows the meanings)

وَالْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ

2.               Waalkitabi almubeeni
By this Clear Book.

إِنَّا جَعَلْنَاهُ قُرْآنًا عَرَبِيًّا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ

3.               Inna jaAAalnahu quranan AAarabiyyan laAAallakum taAAqiloona
WE have made it Al-Qur'ân of an Arabic language -- so that you people should understand it.

وَإِنَّهُ فِي أُمِّ الْكِتَابِ لَدَيْنَا لَعَلِيٌّ حَكِيمٌ

4.               Wainnahu fee ommi alkitabi ladayna laAAaliyyun hakeemun
And in fact, it is written in the Mother of the Book (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfûz), an Exalted Book full of wisdom with US.

أَفَنَضْرِبُ عَنكُمُ الذِّكْرَ صَفْحًا أَن كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا مُّسْرِفِينَ

5.               Afanadribu AAankumu alththikra safhan an kuntum qawman musrifeena
Now by displeasing with you; should WE stop sending this advice to you only because you are transgressors (Musrifûn)?

وَكَمْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن نَّبِيٍّ فِي الْأَوَّلِينَ

6.               Wakam arsalna min nabiyyin fee alawwaleena
WE have sent Prophets many times among your former nations.

وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن نَّبِيٍّ إِلَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِؤُون

7.               Wama yateehim min nabiyyin illa kanoo bihi yastahzioona
It never happened so, that Prophet came to them, and they did not mock at him. 

فَأَهْلَكْنَا أَشَدَّ مِنْهُم بَطْشًا وَمَضَى مَثَلُ الْأَوَّلِينَ

8.               Faahlakna ashadda minhum batshan wamada mathalu alawwaleena
Then WE destroyed those people who were much stronger than these, the examples of the former nations has been passed. 

وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ خَلَقَهُنَّ الْعَزِيزُ الْعَلِيمُ

9.               Walain saaltahum man khalaqa alssamawati waalarda layaqoolunna khalaqahunna alAAazeezu alAAaleemu
If you ask these people that who has created the earth and the skies then they themselves will say: "The One Omnipotent and All Knower has created them."

الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْأَرْضَ مَهْدًا وَجَعَلَ لَكُمْ فِيهَا سُبُلًا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ

10.             Allathee jaAAala lakumu alarda mahdan wajaAAala lakum feeha subulan laAAallakum tahtadoona
HE WHO made this earth a cradle for you and made paths in it for you so that you find the way to your destination.

وَالَّذِي نَزَّلَ مِنَ السَّمَاء مَاء بِقَدَرٍ فَأَنشَرْنَا بِهِ بَلْدَةً مَّيْتًا كَذَلِكَ تُخْرَجُونَ

11.            Waallathee nazzala mina alssamai maan biqadarin faansharna bihi baldatan maytan kathalika tukhrajoona
WHO sent down water from the sky in an exact measure and with it revived the dead land, in the same way one day you will be brought out from the earth.

وَالَّذِي خَلَقَ الْأَزْوَاجَ كُلَّهَا وَجَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ الْفُلْكِ وَالْأَنْعَامِ مَا تَرْكَبُونَ

12.            Waallathee khalaqa alazwaja kullaha wajaAAala lakum mina alfulki waalanAAami ma tarkaboona
The One WHO created all these pairs, and WHO made boats and animals the means of riding,

لِتَسْتَوُوا عَلَى ظُهُورِهِ ثُمَّ تَذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ رَبِّكُمْ إِذَا اسْتَوَيْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ وَتَقُولُوا سُبْحانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ

13.            Litastawoo AAala thuhoorihi thumma tathkuroo niAAmata rabbikum itha istawaytum AAalayhi wataqooloo subhana allathee sakhkhara lana hatha wama kunna lahu muqrineena
So that you should ride on their backs and when you sit on them then remember the favor of your Râbb and say: "Pure is HE WHO has subjected these things for us otherwise we did not have the power to control them,

وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنقَلِبُونَ

14.            Wainna ila rabbina lamunqaliboona
And one Day we have to return to our Râbb”.

وَجَعَلُوا لَهُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ جُزْءًا إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لَكَفُورٌ مُّبِينٌ

15.            WajaAAaloo lahu min AAibadihi juzan inna alinsana lakafoorun mubeenun
(Knowing and admitting all this) These people made some of HIS servants to be part of HIM.  The fact is that the human is obviously forgetful.  (R) 7

أَمِ اتَّخَذَ مِمَّا يَخْلُقُ بَنَاتٍ وَأَصْفَاكُم بِالْبَنِينَ

16.            Ami ittakhatha mimma yakhluqu banatin waasfakum bialbaneena
Has Allâh chosen daughters for HIM from HIS creation and blessed you with sons? 

وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُم بِمَا ضَرَبَ لِلرَّحْمَنِ مَثَلًا ظَلَّ وَجْهُهُ مُسْوَدًّا وَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ

17.            Waitha bushshira ahaduhum bima daraba lilrrahmani mathalan thalla wajhuhu muswaddan wahuwa katheemun
And the situation is that when the news of the birth of that child which they ascribe for the Most Loving (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala) is given to anyone of them then his face turns black and he is filled with sorrow.

أَوَمَن يُنَشَّأُ فِي الْحِلْيَةِ وَهُوَ فِي الْخِصَامِ غَيْرُ مُبِينٍ

18.            Awaman yunashshao fee alhilyati wahuwa fee alkhisami ghayru mubeenin
Has that offspring come in the share of Allâh which has been brought up in jewelry and cannot make her point clear in argumentation?

وَجَعَلُوا الْمَلَائِكَةَ الَّذِينَ هُمْ عِبَادُ الرَّحْمَنِ إِنَاثًا أَشَهِدُوا خَلْقَهُمْ سَتُكْتَبُ شَهَادَتُهُمْ وَيُسْأَلُونَ

19.            WajaAAaloo almalaikata allatheena hum AAibadu alrrahmani inathan ashahidoo khalqahum satuktabu shahadatuhum wayusaloona
They have declared angels as females, who are special servants of Most Loving (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala).  Have they seen the structure of their bodies?  Their witness will be recorded and they will have to answer for it. 

وَقَالُوا لَوْ شَاء الرَّحْمَنُ مَا عَبَدْنَاهُم مَّا لَهُم بِذَلِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَخْرُصُونَ

20.            Waqaloo law shaa alrrahmanu ma AAabadnahum ma lahum bithalika min AAilmin in hum illa yakhrusoona
They say: "If Most Loving (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala) wanted (that we should not worship them) then we should never have worshipped them."  They do not know the reality of this matter; they only try to guess.

أَمْ آتَيْنَاهُمْ كِتَابًا مِّن قَبْلِهِ فَهُم بِهِ مُسْتَمْسِكُونَ

21.            Am ataynahum kitaban min qablihi fahum bihi mustamsikoona
Had WE given them any Book before this (Al-Qur'ân), to which they hold as authority (for their angel-worshiping)?

بَلْ قَالُوا إِنَّا وَجَدْنَا آبَاءنَا عَلَى أُمَّةٍ وَإِنَّا عَلَى آثَارِهِم مُّهْتَدُونَ

22.            Bal qaloo inna wajadna abaana AAala ommatin wainna AAala atharihim muhtadoona
Absolutely not!  But they say: "We found our forefathers on certain way and we are following their footsteps”.

وَكَذَلِكَ مَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ فِي قَرْيَةٍ مِّن نَّذِيرٍ إِلَّا قَالَ مُتْرَفُوهَا إِنَّا وَجَدْنَا آبَاءنَا عَلَى أُمَّةٍ وَإِنَّا عَلَى آثَارِهِم مُّقْتَدُونَ

23.            Wakathalika ma arsalna min qablika fee qaryatin min natheerin illa qala mutrafooha inna wajadna abaana AAala ommatin wainna AAala atharihim muqtadoona
Similarly to whichever habitation WE sent a warner before you its well-off people said: "We have found our forefathers on certain way and we are following their footsteps”. 

قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكُم بِأَهْدَى مِمَّا وَجَدتُّمْ عَلَيْهِ آبَاءكُمْ قَالُوا إِنَّا بِمَا أُرْسِلْتُم بِهِ كَافِرُونَ

24.            Qala awa law jitukum biahda mimma wajadtum AAalayhi abaakum qaloo inna bima orsiltum bihi kafiroona
Each Prophet asked them: "Will you keep following the same way even if I guide you to the better path than that on which you found your forefathers?"  They gave the same reply to all the Rasools: "You have been sent to invite to the Deen (Islamic way of life) we are deniers of it." 

فَانتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ

25.            Faintaqamna minhum faonthur kayfa kana AAaqibatu almukaththibeena
Eventually, WE brought them to account and see what the end of those who denied was.  (R) 8

وَإِذْ قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِ إِنَّنِي بَرَاء مِّمَّا تَعْبُدُونَ

26.            Waith qala ibraheemu liabeehi waqawmihi innanee baraon mimma taAAbudoona
Recall that time when Ibrahîm had said to his father and his nation: "I do not have any relation with those whom you worship. 

إِلَّا الَّذِي فَطَرَنِي فَإِنَّهُ سَيَهْدِينِ

27.            Illa allathee fataranee fainnahu sayahdeeni
My relation is only with HIM WHO created me, HE will guide me."

وَجَعَلَهَا كَلِمَةً بَاقِيَةً فِي عَقِبِهِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ

28.            WajaAAalaha kalimatan baqiyatan fee AAaqibihi laAAallahum yarjiAAoona
And Ibrâhim left the same word behind him among his progeny so that they should incline towards it.

بَلْ مَتَّعْتُ هَؤُلَاء وَآبَاءهُمْ حَتَّى جَاءهُمُ الْحَقُّ وَرَسُولٌ مُّبِينٌ

29.            Bal mattaAAtu haolai waabaahum hatta jaahumu alhaqqu warasoolun mubeenun
(Instead of this when these people started worshiping others, I did not destroyed them) But I have been giving the worldly provisions to them as well as to their forefathers until the Truth and a Rasool (Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) came to them -- who explained everything clearly.

وَلَمَّا جَاءهُمُ الْحَقُّ قَالُوا هَذَا سِحْرٌ وَإِنَّا بِهِ كَافِرُونَ

30.            Walamma jaahumu alhaqqu qaloo hatha sihrun wainna bihi kafiroona
But when truth came to them, they said: "This is a magic and we reject it”.

وَقَالُوا لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ هَذَا الْقُرْآنُ عَلَى رَجُلٍ مِّنَ الْقَرْيَتَيْنِ عَظِيمٍ

31.            Waqaloo lawla nuzzila hatha alquranu AAala rajulin mina alqaryatayni AAatheemun
They say: "Why this Al-Qur'ân has not been sent among the important people of both of the towns (Makkah and Tâ'if)?" 

أَهُمْ يَقْسِمُونَ رَحْمَةَ رَبِّكَ نَحْنُ قَسَمْنَا بَيْنَهُم مَّعِيشَتَهُمْ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَرَفَعْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ فَوْقَ بَعْضٍ دَرَجَاتٍ لِيَتَّخِذَ بَعْضُهُم بَعْضًا سُخْرِيًّا وَرَحْمَتُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌ مِّمَّا يَجْمَعُونَ

32.            Ahum yaqsimoona rahmata rabbika nahnu qasamna baynahum maAAeeshatahum fee alhayati alddunya warafaAAna baAAdahum fawqa baAAdin darajatin liyattakhitha baAAduhum baAAdan sukhriyyan warahmatu rabbika khayrun mimma yajmaAAoona
Do they distribute the Blessing of your Râbb?  WE have distributed among them the means of their living in the worldly life, and WE have given superiority to some of them above the others so that they should get service from one another.  And the Mercy of your Râbb (Prophethood) is more precious from that wealth which (their rich people) are accumulating.

وَلَوْلَا أَن يَكُونَ النَّاسُ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً لَجَعَلْنَا لِمَن يَكْفُرُ بِالرَّحْمَنِ لِبُيُوتِهِمْ سُقُفًا مِّن فَضَّةٍ وَمَعَارِجَ عَلَيْهَا يَظْهَرُونَ

33.            Walawla an yakoona alnnasu ommatan wahidatan lajaAAalna liman yakfuru bialrrahmani libuyootihim suqufan min fiddatin wamaAAarija AAalayha yathharoona
If the fear would not be that all the people will follow the same path then those who committed infidelity with the Most Loving (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala) WE would have made the roof of their houses and their stairs with which they climb to their upper stories,

وَلِبُيُوتِهِمْ أَبْوَابًا وَسُرُرًا عَلَيْهَا يَتَّكِؤُونَ

34.            Walibuyootihim abwaban wasururan AAalayha yattakioona
And their doors and their throne on which they recline,

وَزُخْرُفًا وَإِن كُلُّ ذَلِكَ لَمَّا مَتَاعُ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةُ عِندَ رَبِّكَ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ

35.            Wazukhrufan wain kullu thalika lamma mataAAu alhayati alddunya waalakhiratu AAinda rabbika lilmuttaqeena
All with silver and gold.  This is only the provision of this worldly life, and the Hereafter with your Râbb is only for the pious people (Muttaqûn).  (R) 9

وَمَن يَعْشُ عَن ذِكْرِ الرَّحْمَنِ نُقَيِّضْ لَهُ شَيْطَانًا فَهُوَ لَهُ قَرِينٌ

36.            Waman yaAAshu AAan thikri alrrahmani nuqayyid lahu shaytanan fahuwa lahu qareenun
The one who does negligence from the remembrance of the Most Loving (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala), WE appoint a Shaitân on him/her and he (Satan) becomes his/her companion (Qarîn). 

وَإِنَّهُمْ لَيَصُدُّونَهُمْ عَنِ السَّبِيلِ وَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُم مُّهْتَدُونَ

37.            Wainnahum layasuddoonahum AAani alssabeeli wayahsaboona annahum muhtadoona
These Satans hinder such people from coming to the Straight Path, and they think that they are following the right path. 

حَتَّى إِذَا جَاءنَا قَالَ يَا لَيْتَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكَ بُعْدَ الْمَشْرِقَيْنِ فَبِئْسَ الْقَرِينُ

38.            Hatta itha jaana qala ya layta baynee wabaynaka buAAda almashriqayni fabisa alqareenu
Finally when this person will come to US then (he/she) will say to his/her Satan: "Would that! there be a distance of east and west between you and I, you proved to be the worst companion.”

وَلَن يَنفَعَكُمُ الْيَوْمَ إِذ ظَّلَمْتُمْ أَنَّكُمْ فِي الْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ

39.            Walan yanfaAAakumu alyawma ith thalamtum annakum fee alAAathabi mushtarikoona
At that time, it will be said to these people that when you have done oppression then today it is not going to be profitable for you that you and your Satans are partners in the punishment. 

أَفَأَنتَ تُسْمِعُ الصُّمَّ أَوْ تَهْدِي الْعُمْيَ وَمَن كَانَ فِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ

40.            Afaanta tusmiAAu alssumma aw tahdee alAAumya waman kana fee dalalin mubeenin
Now, O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) will you make the deaf to hear?  Or will guide the blind and those who are in obvious error? 

فَإِمَّا نَذْهَبَنَّ بِكَ فَإِنَّا مِنْهُم مُّنتَقِمُونَ

41.            Faimma nathhabanna bika fainna minhum muntaqimoona
Now WE have to punish them whether WE call you back from the world,

أَوْ نُرِيَنَّكَ الَّذِي وَعَدْنَاهُمْ فَإِنَّا عَلَيْهِم مُّقْتَدِرُونَ

42.            Aw nuriyannaka allathee waAAadnahum fainna AAalayhim muqtadiroona
Or let you see their end, which WE have promised them, WE have complete control over them. 

فَاسْتَمْسِكْ بِالَّذِي أُوحِيَ إِلَيْكَ إِنَّكَ عَلَى صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ

43.            Faistamsik biallathee oohiya ilayka innaka AAala siratin mustaqeemin
So you hold that Book firmly which has been send towards you through Revelation, certainly you are on the Straight Path. 

وَإِنَّهُ لَذِكْرٌ لَّكَ وَلِقَوْمِكَ وَسَوْفَ تُسْأَلُونَ

44.            Wainnahu lathikrun laka waliqawmika wasawfa tusaloona
The fact is that this Book is a great honor for you and for your nation and soon you people will be questioned about it.

وَاسْأَلْ مَنْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ مِن رُّسُلِنَا أَجَعَلْنَا مِن دُونِ الرَّحْمَنِ آلِهَةً يُعْبَدُونَ

45.            Waisal man arsalna min qablika min rusulina ajaAAalna min dooni alrrahmani alihatan yuAAbadoona
You might ask from all those Rasools whom WE had sent before you, "Had WE appointed other deities (Ilâhan) that they should be worshiped except the Most Loving (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala)?"  (R) 10

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مُوسَى بِآيَاتِنَا إِلَى فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَئِهِ فَقَالَ إِنِّي رَسُولُ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

46.            Walaqad arsalna moosa biayatina ila firAAawna wamalaihi faqala innee rasoolu rabbi alAAalameena
WE sent Mûsa with OUR Signs (Ayât) to Fir'aun and his chiefs and he went and said: "I am a Rasool of the Râbb-ul-'Alamîn (Nourisher/Sustainer of the entire world)."

فَلَمَّا جَاءهُم بِآيَاتِنَا إِذَا هُم مِّنْهَا يَضْحَكُونَ

47.            Falamma jaahum biayatina itha hum minha yadhakoona
And when he presented OUR Signs (Ayâts) before them then they started laughing. 

وَمَا نُرِيهِم مِّنْ آيَةٍ إِلَّا هِيَ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ أُخْتِهَا وَأَخَذْنَاهُم بِالْعَذَابِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ

48.            Wama nureehim min ayatin illa hiya akbaru min okhtiha waakhathnahum bialAAathabi laAAallahum yarjiAAoona
WE kept showing them Sign after Sign, which was greater than the former, and WE seized them with torment that they might change their behavior.

وَقَالُوا يَا أَيُّهَا السَّاحِرُ ادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ بِمَا عَهِدَ عِندَكَ إِنَّنَا لَمُهْتَدُونَ

49.            Waqaloo ya ayyuha alsahiru odAAu lana rabbaka bima AAahida AAindaka innana lamuhtadoona
At the time of each torment they said: "O Magician, the rank you have from your Râbb by the merit of that pray to HIM for us, we shall surely come to the straight path."

فَلَمَّا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُمُ الْعَذَابَ إِذَا هُمْ يَنكُثُونَ

50.            Falamma kashafna AAanhumu alAAathaba itha hum yankuthoona
But as soon as WE removed the torment from them, they used to turn away from their word (broken their promises). 

وَنَادَى فِرْعَوْنُ فِي قَوْمِهِ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ أَلَيْسَ لِي مُلْكُ مِصْرَ وَهَذِهِ الْأَنْهَارُ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِي أَفَلَا تُبْصِرُونَ

51.            Wanada firAAawnu fee qawmihi qala ya qawmi alaysa lee mulku misra wahathihi alanharu tajree min tahtee afala tubsiroona
One day Fir'aun proclaimed among his people, saying: "O people, Is not the kingdom of Egypt mine, and are these canals not flowing underneath me?  Don’t you people see? 

أَمْ أَنَا خَيْرٌ مِّنْ هَذَا الَّذِي هُوَ مَهِينٌ وَلَا يَكَادُ يُبِينُ

52.            Am ana khayrun min hatha allathee huwa maheenun wala yakadu yubeenu
Am I better or the person who is low and miserable (Mahîn) and cannot even express himself clearly?

فَلَوْلَا أُلْقِيَ عَلَيْهِ أَسْوِرَةٌ مِّن ذَهَبٍ أَوْ جَاء مَعَهُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ مُقْتَرِنِينَ

53.            Falawla olqiya AAalayhi aswiratun min thahabin aw jaa maAAahu almalaikatu muqtarineena
Why not the golden bracelets were sent down on him?  Or why not a group of angels came along with him?"

فَاسْتَخَفَّ قَوْمَهُ فَأَطَاعُوهُ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمًا فَاسِقِينَ

54.            Faistakhaffa qawmahu faataAAoohu innahum kanoo qawman fasiqeena
He thought his people to be low and they obeyed him, in fact, they were sinful people (Fâsiqûn).

فَلَمَّا آسَفُونَا انتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ فَأَغْرَقْنَاهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ

55.             Falamma asafoona intaqamna minhum faaghraqnahum ajmaAAeena
Consequently, when they made US very angry then WE took revenge from them and drowned them all together 

فَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ سَلَفًا وَمَثَلًا لِلْآخِرِينَ

56.            FajaAAalnahum salafan wamathalan lilakhireena
And made them an example and object of lesson for the later generations.  (R) 11

وَلَمَّا ضُرِبَ ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ مَثَلًا إِذَا قَوْمُكَ مِنْهُ يَصِدُّونَ

57.            Walamma duriba ibnu maryama mathalan itha qawmuka minhu yasiddoona
And as soon as the example of the son of Maryam was quoted, the people of your nation made fuss on it.

وَقَالُوا أَآلِهَتُنَا خَيْرٌ أَمْ هُوَ مَا ضَرَبُوهُ لَكَ إِلَّا جَدَلًا بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ خَصِمُونَ

58.            Waqaloo aalihatuna khayrun am huwa ma daraboohu laka illa jadalan bal hum qawmun khasimoona
And started saying: "Are our deities (Ilâhan) better or he?"  They have brought this example before you for the sake of argument; the fact is that they are quarrelsome people.

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا عَبْدٌ أَنْعَمْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَجَعَلْنَاهُ مَثَلًا لِّبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ

59.            In huwa illa AAabdun anAAamna AAalayhi wajaAAalnahu mathalan libanee israeela
The son of Maryam was nothing except that he was a devotee whom WE Blessed and made him an example of OUR Divinity for the Children of Israel.

وَلَوْ نَشَاء لَجَعَلْنَا مِنكُم مَّلَائِكَةً فِي الْأَرْضِ يَخْلُفُونَ

60.            Walaw nashao lajaAAalna minkum malaikatan fee alardi yakhlufoona
If WE wanted, WE have created angels from you who replace you on the earth.

وَإِنَّهُ لَعِلْمٌ لِّلسَّاعَةِ فَلَا تَمْتَرُنَّ بِهَا وَاتَّبِعُونِ هَذَا صِرَاطٌ مُّسْتَقِيمٌ

61.            Wainnahu laAAilmun lilssaAAati fala tamtarunna biha waittabiAAooni hatha siratun mustaqeemun
And in fact he (son of Maryam, 'Iesa) is a sign of the Last Hour, therefore you should not doubt in it and take MY Word this is the Straight Path,

وَلَا يَصُدَّنَّكُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ إِنَّهُ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ

62.            Wala yasuddannakumu alshshaytanu innahu lakum AAaduwwun mubeenun
It should not be that Shaitân hinder you from it because he is your open enemy. 

وَلَمَّا جَاء عِيسَى بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ قَالَ قَدْ جِئْتُكُم بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَلِأُبَيِّنَ لَكُم بَعْضَ الَّذِي تَخْتَلِفُونَ فِيهِ فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

63.            Walamma jaa AAeesa bialbayyinati qala qad jitukum bialhikmati waliobayyina lakum baAAda allathee takhtalifoona feehi faittaqoo Allaha waateeAAooni
And when 'Iesa came with clear Proofs, he had said: "I have come to you with Wisdom (Al-Hikmah), and (I) have come for the purpose that (I) should make clear to you the truth of those things in which you are conflicting, therefore you fear Allâh and obey me,

إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ رَبِّي وَرَبُّكُمْ فَاعْبُدُوهُ هَذَا صِرَاطٌ مُّسْتَقِيمٌ

64.            Inna Allaha huwa rabbee warabbukum faoAAbudoohu hatha siratun mustaqeemun
The fact is that Allâh is my Râbb and as well as your Râbb.  You should serve HIM, this is the Straight Path”.

فَاخْتَلَفَ الْأَحْزَابُ مِن بَيْنِهِمْ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمٍ أَلِيمٍ

65.            Faikhtalafa alahzabu min baynihim fawaylun lillatheena thalamoo min AAathabi yawmin aleemin
But (despite of his this clear teaching) the groups (sects) differed among themselves, so destruction is for those people who did wrong from the Day of severe torment.

هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا السَّاعَةَ أَن تَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

66.            Hal yanthuroona illa alssaAAata an tatiyahum baghtatan wahum la yashAAuroona
Do these people now only wait for the Hour that it should come on them suddenly while they are unaware?

الْأَخِلَّاء يَوْمَئِذٍ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ إِلَّا الْمُتَّقِينَ

67.            Alakhillao yawmaithin baAAduhum libaAAdin AAaduwwun illa almuttaqeena
When that Day will come then except the pious people all the Friends will become enemies to one another.  (R) 12

يَا عِبَادِ لَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ وَلَا أَنتُمْ تَحْزَنُونَ

68.            Ya AAibadi la khawfun AAalaykumu alyawma wala antum tahzanoona
That Day it will be said “O MY devotees, today there is no fear for you and nor will there be any harm to you. 

الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَكَانُوا مُسْلِمِينَ

69.            Allatheena amanoo biayatina wakanoo muslimeena
(To those) Who had brought Faith on OUR Revelation and remained obedient

ادْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ أَنتُمْ وَأَزْوَاجُكُمْ تُحْبَرُونَ

70.            Odkhuloo aljannata antum waazwajukum tuhbaroona
Enter to the Paradise you and your wives, you will be made happy”.

يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِصِحَافٍ مِّن ذَهَبٍ وَأَكْوَابٍ وَفِيهَا مَا تَشْتَهِيهِ الْأَنفُسُ وَتَلَذُّ الْأَعْيُنُ وَأَنتُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ

71.            Yutafu AAalayhim bisihafin min thahabin waakwabin wafeeha ma tashtaheehi alanfusu watalaththu alaAAyunu waantum feeha khalidoona
The trays of gold and cups will be circulated before them and every desirable and delightful thing will be presented there.  It will be said to them: “Now you will stay here forever.

وَتِلْكَ الْجَنَّةُ الَّتِي أُورِثْتُمُوهَا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

72.            Watilka aljannatu allatee oorithtumooha bima kuntum taAAmaloona
You have inherited this Paradise because of your those deeds which you have been doing in the world. 

لَكُمْ فِيهَا فَاكِهَةٌ كَثِيرَةٌ مِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ

73.            Lakum feeha fakihatun katheeratun minha takuloona
There are plenty of fruits available here for you that you will eat”.

إِنَّ الْمُجْرِمِينَ فِي عَذَابِ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدُونَ

74.            Inna almujrimeena fee AAathabi jahannama khalidoona
As for the criminals (Mujrimûn), they will remain in the torment of Hell forever,

لَا يُفَتَّرُ عَنْهُمْ وَهُمْ فِيهِ مُبْلِسُونَ

75.            La yufattaru AAanhum wahum feehi mublisoona
Their torment will never be lightened for them, and they will remain there hopeless. 

وَمَا ظَلَمْنَاهُمْ وَلَكِن كَانُوا هُمُ الظَّالِمِينَ

76.            Wama thalamnahum walakin kanoo humu alththalimeena
WE did not do unjust to them, but they have been doing unjust to themselves.

وَنَادَوْا يَا مَالِكُ لِيَقْضِ عَلَيْنَا رَبُّكَ قَالَ إِنَّكُم مَّاكِثُونَ

77.            Wanadaw ya maliku liyaqdi AAalayna rabbuka qala innakum makithoona
They will cry; "O owner (Malik), it is good if your Râbb finishes us”.  He will reply: "You will remain like it,  

لَقَدْ جِئْنَاكُم بِالْحَقِّ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَكُمْ لِلْحَقِّ كَارِهُونَ

78.            Laqad jinakum bialhaqqi walakinna aktharakum lilhaqqi karihoona
WE had come to you with truth but most of you had disliked the truth”. 

أَمْ أَبْرَمُوا أَمْرًا فَإِنَّا مُبْرِمُونَ

79.            Am abramoo amran fainna mubrimoona
Have these people decided to do something?  Well then, WE also make a decision. 

أَمْ يَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّا لَا نَسْمَعُ سِرَّهُمْ وَنَجْوَاهُم بَلَى وَرُسُلُنَا لَدَيْهِمْ يَكْتُبُونَ

80.            Am yahsaboona anna la nasmaAAu sirrahum wanajwahum bala warusuluna ladayhim yaktuboona
Do they think that WE do not hear their secret talks and whispering?  WE are hearing everything and OUR Angels are recording it beside them.

قُلْ إِن كَانَ لِلرَّحْمَنِ وَلَدٌ فَأَنَا أَوَّلُ الْعَابِدِينَ

81.            Qul in kana lilrrahmani waladun faana awwalu alAAabideena
Tell them: "If the Most Loving (Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala) really had any offspring then I would be the first to worship”.

سُبْحَانَ رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ

82.            Subhana rabbi alssamawati waalardi rabbi alAAarshi AAamma yasifoona
Pure is the King of the skies and the earth, Râbb of the Throne, from all these things which these people ascribe to HIM.

فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا وَيَلْعَبُوا حَتَّى يُلَاقُوا يَوْمَهُمُ الَّذِي يُوعَدُونَ

83.            Fatharhum yakhoodoo wayalAAaboo hatta yulaqoo yawmahumu allathee yooAAadoona
Well, leave them busy in their false thoughts and fun until they see the Day with which they are being threatened.

وَهُوَ الَّذِي فِي السَّمَاء إِلَهٌ وَفِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَهٌ وَهُوَ الْحَكِيمُ الْعَلِيمُ

84.            Wahuwa allathee fee alssamai ilahun wafee alardi ilahun wahuwa alhakeemu alAAaleemu
HE is the Alone Allâh in the sky and on the earth, and HE is All Wise and All-Knower. 

وَتَبَارَكَ الَّذِي لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَعِندَهُ عِلْمُ السَّاعَةِ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ

85.            Watabaraka allathee lahu mulku alssamawati waalardi wama baynahuma waAAindahu AAilmu alssaAAati wailayhi turjaAAoona
HE is Highly Exalted to WHOM -- belongs the Kingdom of the skies and the earth and of all that is between the sky and the earth.  And HE has the knowledge of the Last Hour, and to HIM you all will be returned.

وَلَا يَمْلِكُ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِ الشَّفَاعَةَ إِلَّا مَن شَهِدَ بِالْحَقِّ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ

86.            Wala yamliku allatheena yadAAoona min doonihi alshshafaAAata illa man shahida bialhaqqi wahum yaAAlamoona
Those whom these people invoke except HIM they do not have any power of intercession, except if someone bears witness to the truth based on knowledge. 

وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَهُمْ لَيَقُولُنَّ اللَّهُ فَأَنَّى يُؤْفَكُونَ

87.            Walain saaltahum man khalaqahum layaqoolunna Allahu faanna yufakoona
And if you ask them who have created them, they themselves will say, "Allâh".  Then from where they are having deception?

وَقِيلِهِ يَارَبِّ إِنَّ هَؤُلَاء قَوْمٌ لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ

88.            Waqeelihi ya rabbi inna haolai qawmun la yuminoona
By this word of Rasool that O Râbb: "These are those people who do not believe." 

فَاصْفَحْ عَنْهُمْ وَقُلْ سَلَامٌ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ

89.            Faisfah AAanhum waqul salamun fasawfa yaAAlamoona
Well, O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) forbear with them and say, Peace to you (Salâm) soon you will come to know.  (R) 13

“Ad-Dukhân – The Smoke” – (Makki – 44^th Surah)

Total Verses: 59

بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمـَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi
(I) Begin with the Name of Allâh WHO is Most Loving and Most Merciful

حم

1.                Hâ-Mîm.
(Hameem -- these are prefixes, muqatta’at, only Allâh, subhaana wa ta’aala, knows the meanings)

وَالْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ

2.               Waalkitabi almubeeni
By this Glorious Book that

إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ مُّبَارَكَةٍ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ

3.               Inna anzalnahu fee laylatin mubarakatin inna kunna munthireena
WE have Revealed it (Al-Qur'ân) in a highly blessed night (night of Qadr-in the month of Ramadân), because WE had an intention to warn the people.

فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ

4.               Feeha yufraqu kullu amrin hakeemin
It was a night in which every matter is wisely decided --

أَمْرًا مِّنْ عِندِنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ

5.               Amran min AAindina inna kunna mursileena
By OUR Command (Amran).  WE were going to send a Rasool,

رَحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

6.               Rahmatan min rabbika innahu huwa alssameeAAu alAAaleemu
As a Mercy from your Râbb, certainly HE Hears and Knows everything,

رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ

7.               Rabbi alssamawati waalardi wama baynahuma in kuntum mooqineena
Râbb of the skies and the earth, and the Râbb of all that which is between the skies and the earth if you really have Faith. 

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ

8.               La ilaha illa huwa yuhyee wayumeetu rabbukum warabbu abaikumu alawwaleena
There is no deity (worthy of worship) except HIM (Lâ ilahâ illa Huwa); HE gives life and causes death.  Your Râbb and Râbb of your those forefathers who have passed away before

بَلْ هُمْ فِي شَكٍّ يَلْعَبُونَ

9.               Bal hum fee shakkin yalAAaboona
(But in fact these people do not have faith) While they are playing being in their doubt. 

فَارْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِي السَّمَاء بِدُخَانٍ مُّبِينٍ

10.            Fairtaqib yawma tatee alssamao bidukhanin mubeenin
Well, wait for that Day when the sky will come with a visible smoke.

يَغْشَى النَّاسَ هَذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

11.            Yaghsha alnnasa hatha AAathabun aleemun
And it will prevail over the people; this is a painful torment.

رَبَّنَا اكْشِفْ عَنَّا الْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ

12.             Rabbana ikshif AAanna alAAathaba inna muminoona
(Now they say): "O Râbb, remove this torment from us, we bring Faith."

أَنَّى لَهُمُ الذِّكْرَى وَقَدْ جَاءهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُّبِينٌ

13.            Anna lahumu alththikra waqad jaahum rasoolun mubeenun
How their carelessness can depart?  Their condition is such that an upright Rasool came to them even then

ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا مُعَلَّمٌ مَّجْنُونٌ

14.            Thumma tawallaw AAanhu waqaloo muAAallamun majnoonun
They did not embrace him and said; "He is well taught unsound”.

إِنَّا كَاشِفُو الْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُمْ عَائِدُونَ

15.            Inna kashifoo alAAathabi qaleelan innakum AAaidoona
WE now remove the torment for a while, you will do the same what you were doing before

يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ الْبَطْشَةَ الْكُبْرَى إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ

16.            Yawma nabtishu albatshata alkubra inna muntaqimoona
The Day when WE shall strike the severest stroke it will be the Day when WE shall take revenge from you.

وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَاءهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ

17.            Walaqad fatanna qablahum qawma firAAawna wajaahum rasoolun kareemun
Before them, WE have put the Fir'aun's nation in the same test.  A very noble Rasool came to them and

أَنْ أَدُّوا إِلَيَّ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ

18.            An addoo ilayya AAibada Allahi innee lakum rasoolun ameenun
He said: "Hand over the servants of Allâh to me; I am trustworthy Rasool toward you.

وَأَنْ لَّا تَعْلُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ إِنِّي آتِيكُم بِسُلْطَانٍ مُّبِينٍ

19.            Waan la taAAloo AAala Allahi innee ateekum bisultanin mubeenin
Do not rebel against Allâh.  I present the clear proof of authority (of my nomination) before you.

وَإِنِّي عُذْتُ بِرَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمْ أَن تَرْجُمُونِ

20.            Wainnee AAuthtu birabbee warabbikum an tarjumooni
And I have taken the protection of my Râbb and your Râbb for it that you may attack me.

وَإِنْ لَّمْ تُؤْمِنُوا لِي فَاعْتَزِلُونِ

21.            Wain lam tuminoo lee faiAAtazilooni
If you do not take my word then keep your hands away from me."

فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ أَنَّ هَؤُلَاء قَوْمٌ مُّجْرِمُونَ

22.            FadaAAa rabbahu anna haolai qawmun mujrimoona
Finally, he called upon his Râbb that these people are criminals (Mujrimûn).

فَأَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي لَيْلًا إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ

23.            Faasri biAAibadee laylan innakum muttabaAAoona
(Response was given): "Well depart with MY servants in night time.  You will be pursued.

وَاتْرُكْ الْبَحْرَ رَهْوًا إِنَّهُمْ جُندٌ مُّغْرَقُونَ

24.            Waotruki albahra rahwan innahum jundun mughraqoona
Leave the sea on its own (divided).  This whole army is going to be drowned."

كَمْ تَرَكُوا مِن جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ

25.            Kam tarakoo min jannatin waAAuyoonin
How many gardens and springs they had left

وَزُرُوعٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ

26.            WazurooAAin wamaqamin kareemin
And fields (green crops) and excellent palaces,

وَنَعْمَةٍ كَانُوا فِيهَا فَاكِهِينَ

27.            WanaAAmatin kanoo feeha fakiheena
How many means of comforts, with which they were enjoying,

        كَذَلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا قَوْمًا آخَرِينَ                                           

28.            Kathalika waawrathnaha qawman akhareena
Were left behind them.  It was the end of those people, and WE made other people to inherit these things.

فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّمَاء وَالْأَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُوا مُنظَرِينَ

29.            Fama bakat AAalayhimu alssamao waalardu wama kanoo munthareena
Then neither sky nor earth cried for them, and they were not given any respite.  (R) 14

وَلَقَدْ نَجَّيْنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ الْمُهِينِ

30.            Walaqad najjayna banee israeela mina alAAathabi almuheeni
In this way WE liberated the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment,

مِن فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَالِيًا مِّنَ الْمُسْرِفِينَ

31.            Min firAAawna innahu kana AAaliyan mina almusrifeena
From Fir'aun he was in fact of higher rank among those who are transgressors (Musrifûn),

وَلَقَدِ اخْتَرْنَاهُمْ عَلَى عِلْمٍ عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ

32.             Walaqadi ikhtarnahum AAala AAilmin AAala alAAalameena
And even knowing about their condition WE preferred them above the other nations,

وَآتَيْنَاهُم مِّنَ الْآيَاتِ مَا فِيهِ بَلَاء مُّبِينٌ

33.            Waataynahum mina alayati ma feehi balaon mubeenun
And showed them such signs in which there was a clear trial.

إِنَّ هَؤُلَاء لَيَقُولُونَ

34.            Inna haolai layaqooloona
These people say:

إِنْ هِيَ إِلَّا مَوْتَتُنَا الْأُولَى وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُنشَرِينَ

35.            In hiya illa mawtatuna aloola wama nahnu bimunshareena
"There is nothing but our first death, we are not going to be raised after it.

فَأْتُوا بِآبَائِنَا إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

36.             Fatoo biabaina in kuntum sadiqeena
If you are truthful then resurrect our forefathers".

أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ وَالَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ أَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا مُجْرِمِينَ

37.            Ahum khayrun am qawmu tubbaAAin waallatheena min qablihim ahlaknahum innahum kanoo mujrimeena
Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them?  WE destroyed them because they had become criminals (Mujrimûn).

وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَاعِبِينَ

38.            Wama khalaqna alssamawati waalarda wama baynahuma laAAibeena
WE have not created this sky and the earth and whatever is between them just for fun.

مَا خَلَقْنَاهُمَا إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

39.            Ma khalaqnahuma illa bialhaqqi walakinna aktharahum la yaAAlamoona
WE have created them with truth, but most of the people among them do not know.

إِنَّ يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ مِيقَاتُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ

40.            Inna yawma alfasli meeqatuhum ajmaAAeena
The appointed time for the resurrection of all of them is the Day of Judgment, 

يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِي مَوْلًى عَن مَّوْلًى شَيْئًا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ

41.            Yawma la yughnee mawlan AAan mawlan shayan wala hum yunsaroona
The Day when no close relative (Maulan) will be able to help his/her other very close relative (Maulan), and nor any help will reach to them, 

إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ اللَّهُ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ

42.            Illa man rahima Allahu innahu huwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu
Except this, that Allâh may show Mercy to a person, HE is Omnipotent and Most Loving.  (R) 15

إِنَّ شَجَرَةَ الزَّقُّومِ

43.            Inna shajarata alzzaqqoomi
The tree of Zaqqûm,

طَعَامُ الْأَثِيمِ

44.           TaAAamu alatheemi
Will be the food of the sinners,

كَالْمُهْلِ يَغْلِي فِي الْبُطُونِ

45.            Kaalmuhli yaghlee fee albutooni
Like the waste of oil, it will boil in the belly,

كَغَلْيِ الْحَمِيمِ

46.            Kaghalyi alhameemi
As the boiling water boils”.

خُذُوهُ فَاعْتِلُوهُ إِلَى سَوَاء الْجَحِيمِ

47.            Khuthoohu faiAAtiloohu ila sawai aljaheemi
Seize him/her and drag him/her into the midst of the Hell

ثُمَّ صُبُّوا فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْحَمِيمِ

48.            Thumma subboo fawqa rasihi min AAathabi alhameemi
And pour over his/her head the torment of boiling water.

ذُقْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْكَرِيمُ

49.            Thuq innaka anta alAAazeezu alkareemu
Have a taste of it, you are honorable person.

إِنَّ هَذَا مَا كُنتُم بِهِ تَمْتَرُونَ

50.             Inna hatha ma kuntum bihi tamtaroona
This is the thing about which you people had doubts."

إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي مَقَامٍ أَمِينٍ

51.            Inna almuttaqeena fee maqamin ameenin
The pious people (Muttaqûn) will be in the places of Peace.

فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ

52.            Fee jannatin waAAuyoonin
Among the gardens and springs,

يَلْبَسُونَ مِن سُندُسٍ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍ مُّتَقَابِلِينَ

53.            Yalbasoona min sundusin waistabraqin mutaqabileena
Wearing the dresses of fine silk and brocade, sitting facing each other.

كَذَلِكَ وَزَوَّجْنَاهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ

54.            Kathalika wazawwajnahum bihoorin AAeenin
This will be their honor.  And WE shall marry them with pure white gazelle-eyes females (Hurain).

يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَاكِهَةٍ آمِنِينَ

55.            YadAAoona feeha bikulli fakihatin amineena
There in complete peace they will order every kind of tasty thing.

لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا الْمَوْتَ إِلَّا الْمَوْتَةَ الْأُولَى وَوَقَاهُمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ

56.             La yathooqoona feeha almawta illa almawtata aloola wawaqahum AAathaba aljaheemi
There they will never taste death.  Thus, the death that came in the world was it.  And Allâh will save them from the torment of the Hell,

فَضْلًا مِّن رَّبِّكَ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ

57.            Fadlan min rabbika thalika huwa alfawzu alAAatheemu
By HIS Blessing, this is the supreme success.

فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَاهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ

58.             Fainnama yassarnahu bilisanika laAAallahum yatathakkaroona
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) WE have made this Book (Al-Qur'ân) easy in your language so that these people should take advice.

فَارْتَقِبْ إِنَّهُم مُّرْتَقِبُونَ

59.             Fairtaqib innahum murtaqiboona
Now you should wait, they are also waiting.  (R) 16

“Al-Jâthiya – Kneeling/ Bending Down” – (Makki – 45^th Surah)

بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمـَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi
(I) Begin with the Name of Allâh WHO is Most Loving and Most Merciful

حم

تَنزِيلُ الْكِتَابِ مِنَ اللَّهِ الْعَزِيزِ الْحَكِيمِ

2.               Tanzeelu alkitabi mina Allahi alAAazeezi alhakeemi
The revelation of this Book (Al-Qur'ân) is from Allâh WHO is Omnipotent and Wise.

إِنَّ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ لَآيَاتٍ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

3.               Inna fee alssamawati waalardi laayatin lilmumineena
The fact is that there are many signs in the skies and the earth for those who bring Faith. 

وَفِي خَلْقِكُمْ وَمَا يَبُثُّ مِن دَابَّةٍ آيَاتٌ لِّقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ

4.               Wafee khalqikum wama yabuththu min dabbatin ayatun liqawmin yooqinoona
And in your own creation, and in those animals, which Allâh is spreading (on earth), there are many signs for those people who bring Faith. 

وَاخْتِلَافِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَمَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ مِنَ السَّمَاء مِن رِّزْقٍ فَأَحْيَا بِهِ الْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا وَتَصْرِيفِ الرِّيَاحِ آيَاتٌ لِّقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ

5.               Waikhtilafi allayli waalnnahari wama anzala Allahu mina alssamai min rizqin faahya bihi alarda baAAda mawtiha watasreefi alrriyahi ayatun liqawmin yaAAqiloona
And in the alternation and difference of night and day, and in that provision which Allâh sends down from the sky then revives the dead earth with it, and there are many signs in the circulation of the wind for those people who use commonsense.

تِلْكَ آيَاتُ اللَّهِ نَتْلُوهَا عَلَيْكَ بِالْحَقِّ فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَ اللَّهِ وَآيَاتِهِ يُؤْمِنُونَ

6.               Tilka ayatu Allahi natlooha AAalayka bialhaqqi fabiayyi hadeethin baAAda Allahi waayatihi yuminoona
These are the Signs (Ayât) of Allâh which WE are describing to you with truth.  Now after Allâh and HIS Signs what is that on which these people will bring Faith? 

وَيْلٌ لِّكُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ

7.               Waylun likulli affakin atheemin
Destruction is for (woe to) every sinful liar,

يَسْمَعُ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ يُصِرُّ مُسْتَكْبِرًا كَأَن لَّمْ يَسْمَعْهَا فَبَشِّرْهُ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ

8.               YasmaAAu ayati Allahi tutla AAalayhi thumma yusirru mustakbiran kaan lam yasmaAAha fabashshirhu biAAathabin aleemin
To whom the Verses of Allâh are recited, and he/she hears them, then he/she persists with great arrogance on his/her infidelity (Kufr) as if he/she never heard them.  Give good news of painful punishment to such person.

وَإِذَا عَلِمَ مِنْ آيَاتِنَا شَيْئًا اتَّخَذَهَا هُزُوًا أُوْلَئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ

9.               Waitha AAalima min ayatina shayan ittakhathaha huzuwan olaika lahum AAathabun muheenun
When something comes to his/her knowledge from OUR Revelation (Ayât) then he/she makes fun of it.  There is a humiliating punishment for all such people.

مِن وَرَائِهِمْ جَهَنَّمُ وَلَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُم مَّا كَسَبُوا شَيْئًا وَلَا مَا اتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ أَوْلِيَاء وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ

10.            Min waraihim jahannamu wala yughnee AAanhum ma kasaboo shayan wala ma ittakhathoo min dooni Allahi awliyaa walahum AAathabun AAatheemun
The Hell is in front of them.  Whatever they have earned in this world nothing will profit them at all, nor their guardians will be able to do anything for them whom they have taken as their helpers (Auliyâ') leaving Allâh.  There is a severe punishment for them. 

هَذَا هُدًى وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مَّن رِّجْزٍ أَلِيمٌ

11.            Hatha hudan waallatheena kafaroo biayati rabbihim lahum AAathabun min rijzin aleemin
This Al-Qur'ân is a complete guidance, and there is a severe painful torment (Rijz) for those people who refused to embrace the Revelation (Ayât) of their Râbb. (R) 17

اللَّهُ الَّذِي سخَّرَ لَكُمُ الْبَحْرَ لِتَجْرِيَ الْفُلْكُ فِيهِ بِأَمْرِهِ وَلِتَبْتَغُوا مِن فَضْلِهِ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ

12.             Allahu allathee sakhkhara lakumu albahra litajriya alfulku feehi biamrihi walitabtaghoo min fadlihi walaAAallakum tashkuroona
HE is Allâh WHO has subjected the sea for you so that boats may sail in it by HIS Command and you may seek HIS Bounty and be thankful.

وَسَخَّرَ لَكُم مَّا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا مِّنْهُ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لَّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

13.            Wasakhkhara lakum ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi jameeAAan minhu inna fee thalika laayatin liqawmin yatafakkaroona
HE has subjected all the things in the skies and the earth for you; all from HIM-- there are many signs in it for those people who ponder upon.

قُل لِّلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا يَغْفِرُوا لِلَّذِينَ لا يَرْجُون أَيَّامَ اللَّهِ لِيَجْزِيَ قَوْمًا بِما كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ

14.            Qul lillatheena amanoo yaghfiroo lillatheena la yarjoona ayyama Allahi liyajziya qawman bima kanoo yaksiboona
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), tell those who brought Faith to forbear from those people who do not have any fear for the coming of bad days from Allâh so that Allâh HIMSELF recompense one group for its earnings.

مَنْ عَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَلِنَفْسِهِ وَمَنْ أَسَاء فَعَلَيْهَا ثُمَّ إِلَى رَبِّكُمْ تُرْجَعُونَ

15.            Man AAamila salihan falinafsihi waman asaa faAAalayha thumma ila rabbikum turjaAAoona
Whosoever will do good deeds he/she will do it for his/her ownself and whosoever will do evil deeds he/she will suffer with it himself/herself.  Then finally all have to return to their Râbb.

وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحُكْمَ وَالنُّبُوَّةَ وَرَزَقْنَاهُم مِّنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَفَضَّلْنَاهُمْ عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ

16.            Walaqad atayna banee israeela alkitaba waalhukma waalnnubuwwata warazaqnahum mina alttayyibati wafaddalnahum AAala alAAalameena
Before it, WE had given a Book and Judgment and Prophethood to the Children of Israel.  WE bestowed them with best provisions of life, preferred them above all the mankind ('Alamîn),

وَآتَيْنَاهُم بَيِّنَاتٍ مِّنَ الْأَمْرِ فَمَا اخْتَلَفُوا إِلَّا مِن بَعْدِ مَا جَاءهُمْ الْعِلْمُ بَغْيًا بَيْنَهُمْ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقْضِي بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فِيمَا كَانُوا فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ

17.            Waataynahum bayyinatin mina alamri fama ikhtalafoo illa min baAAdi ma jaahumu alAAilmu baghyan baynahum inna rabbaka yaqdee baynahum yawma alqiyamati feema kanoo feehi yakhtalifoona
And in the affairs of Deen (WE) gave them clear directions.  Then the differences arouse among them (were not because of the ignorance but it) came after the knowledge has come to them, and because they wanted to do injustice to each other.  Allâh will give the decision about these matters on the Day of Resurrection in which they have been disputing. 

ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَاكَ عَلَى شَرِيعَةٍ مِّنَ الْأَمْرِ فَاتَّبِعْهَا وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاء الَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

18.            Thumma jaAAalnaka AAala shareeAAatin mina alamri faittabiAAha wala tattabiAA ahwaa allatheena la yaAAlamoona
After this, now O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), WE have established you on a clear path (Shari'âh) in the matters of Deen (Islamic Way of Life).  So, you follow it and do not follow the desires of those people who do not have knowledge.

إِنَّهُمْ لَن يُغْنُوا عَنكَ مِنَ اللَّهِ شَيئًا وإِنَّ الظَّالِمِينَ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاء بَعْضٍ وَاللَّهُ وَلِيُّ الْمُتَّقِينَ

19.            Innahum lan yughnoo AAanka mina Allahi shayan wainna alththalimeena baAAduhum awliyao baAAdin waAllahu waliyyu almuttaqeena
They cannot help you against Allâh at all.  The cruel people (Zâlimûn) are helpers (Auliyâ') of one another, and Allâh is the Helper (Walî) of the upright people (Muttaqûn).

هَذَا بَصَائِرُ لِلنَّاسِ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّقَوْمِ يُوقِنُونَ

20.            Hatha basairu lilnnasi wahudan warahmatun liqawmin yooqinoona
These are the lights of Wisdom for all mankind and Blessing and Guidance for those people who bring Faith.

أًمْ حَسِبَ الَّذِينَ اجْتَرَحُوا السَّيِّئَاتِ أّن نَّجْعَلَهُمْ كَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ سَوَاء مَّحْيَاهُم وَمَمَاتُهُمْ سَاء مَا يَحْكُمُونَ

21.            Am hasiba allatheena ijtarahoo alssayyiati an najAAalahum kaallatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati sawaan mahyahum wamamatuhum saa ma yahkumoona
Do those people who have committed sins have thought that WE shall make them equal to those who brought Faith and did righteous deeds, that their life and death be alike?  Worst are the judgments that they pass.  (R) 18

وَخَلَقَ اللَّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ بِالْحَقِّ وَلِتُجْزَى كُلُّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ

22.            Wakhalaqa Allahu alssamawati waalarda bialhaqqi walitujza kullu nafsin bima kasabat wahum la yuthlamoona
Allâh has created the skies and the earth with truth and has done it so, that each soul be recompensed according to its earnings.  No unjust will be done to the people.

أَفَرَأَيْتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ إِلَهَهُ هَوَاهُ وَأَضَلَّهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى عِلْمٍ وَخَتَمَ عَلَى سَمْعِهِ وَقَلْبِهِ وَجَعَلَ عَلَى بَصَرِهِ غِشَاوَةً فَمَن يَهْدِيهِ مِن بَعْدِ اللَّهِ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ

23.            Afaraayta mani ittakhatha ilahahu hawahu waadallahu Allahu AAala AAilmin wakhatama AAala samAAihi waqalbihi wajaAAala AAala basarihi ghishawatan faman yahdeehi min baAAdi Allahi afala tathakkaroona
Then have you ever ponder on the condition of that person who took his/her own desires as his/her deity (ilâh) and even having the knowledge -- Allâh let him/her go astray and sealed his/her ears and heart and put a covering on his/her eyes?  Who else is there to guide him/her after Allâh?  Don’t you learn any lesson?

وَقَالُوا مَا هِيَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا الدُّنْيَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحْيَا وَمَا يُهْلِكُنَا إِلَّا الدَّهْرُ وَمَا لَهُم بِذَلِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَظُنُّونَ

24.            Waqaloo ma hiya illa hayatuna alddunya namootu wanahya wama yuhlikuna illa alddahru wama lahum bithalika min AAilmin in hum illa yathunnoona
These people say: "The life is only this worldly life, here we have to die and live and there is nothing which destroys us except the change of time (Ad-Dahr)”.  In fact, about it, they do not have any knowledge.

وَإِذَا تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتُنَا بَيِّنَاتٍ مَّا كَانَ حُجَّتَهُمْ إِلَّا أَن قَالُوا ائْتُوا بِآبَائِنَا إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

25.            Waitha tutla AAalayhim ayatuna bayyinatin ma kana hujjatahum illa an qaloo itoo biabaina in kuntum sadiqeena
They merely say these things based on assumptions.  And when OUR Clear Revelations (Verses) are recited to them then they do not have any argument except that: "Resurrect our forefathers if you are truthful”.

قُلِ اللَّهُ يُحْيِيكُمْ ثُمَّ يُمِيتُكُمْ ثُمَّ يَجْمَعُكُمْ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ لَا رَيبَ فِيهِ وَلَكِنَّ أَكَثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

26.            Quli Allahu yuhyeekum thumma yumeetukum thumma yajmaAAukum ila yawmi alqiyamati la rayba feehi walakinna akthara alnnasi la yaAAlamoona
O Prophet (Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) tell them: "Allâh Alone gives you life, then HE gives you death, then HE will assemble you on the Day of Resurrection which is sure to come.  But most of the people do not know."  (R) 19

وَلَلَّهِ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرضِ وَيَومَ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَخْسَرُ الْمُبْطِلُونَ

27.            Walillahi mulku alssamawati waalardi wayawma taqoomu alssaAAatu yawmaithin yakhsaru almubtiloona
The Kingdom of the skies and the earth belongs to Allâh and the Day (when) the Hour will be established, on that Day the followers of falsehood shall be in loss.

وَتَرَى كُلَّ أُمَّةٍ جَاثِيَةً كُلُّ أُمَّةٍ تُدْعَى إِلَى كِتَابِهَا الْيَوْمَ تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

28.            Watara kulla ommatin jathiyatan kullu ommatin tudAAa ila kitabiha alyawma tujzawna ma kuntum taAAmaloona
At that time, you will see each group humbled to its knees.  Each group will be called to come and see its record of deeds.  It will be said to them:  “Today you people will be recompensed for those deeds, which you had been doing.

هَذَا كِتَابُنَا يَنطِقُ عَلَيْكُم بِالْحَقِّ إِنَّا كُنَّا نَسْتَنسِخُ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

29.            Hatha kitabuna yantiqu AAalaykum bialhaqqi inna kunna nastansikhu ma kuntum taAAmaloona
This is the record of deeds which WE got prepared -- it has been clearly testifying against you with truth, whatever you used to do WE had been getting it recorded.

فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فَيُدْخِلُهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ فِي رَحْمَتِهِ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْمُبِينُ

30.            Faamma allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati fayudkhiluhum rabbuhum fee rahmatihi thalika huwa alfawzu almubeenu
Then those people who had brought Faith and had been doing righteous deeds their Râbb will admit them to HIS Mercy and this is an obvious success.

وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا أَفَلَمْ تَكُنْ آيَاتِي تُتْلَى عَلَيْكُمْ فَاسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ وَكُنتُمْ قَوْمًا مُّجْرِمِينَ

31.            Waamma allatheena kafaroo afalam takun ayatee tutla AAalaykum faistakbartum wakuntum qawman mujrimeena
And those people who had committed infidelity (Kufr, it will be said to them): “Had not MY Revelation been recited to you?  But you showed arrogance and became criminals.

وَإِذَا قِيلَ إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ وَالسَّاعَةُ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهَا قُلْتُم مَّا نَدْرِي مَا السَّاعَةُ إِن نَّظُنُّ إِلَّا ظَنًّا وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُسْتَيْقِنِينَ

32.            Waitha qeela inna waAAda Allahi haqqun waalssaAAatu la rayba feeha qultum ma nadree ma alssaAAatu in nathunnu illa thannan wama nahnu bimustayqineena
And when it was said the promise of Allâh is true and there is no doubt in the coming of the Last Hour, then you used to say that we do not know what is Last Hour, we only have vague idea, we are not certain”.

وَبَدَا لَهُمْ سَيِّئَاتُ مَا عَمِلُوا وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِؤُون

33.            Wabada lahum sayyiatu ma AAamiloo wahaqa bihim ma kanoo bihi yastahzioona
At that time, the evils of their deeds will be manifested to them and the same thing of which they used to joke will encircle them.

وَقِيلَ الْيَوْمَ نَنسَاكُمْ كَمَا نَسِيتُمْ لِقَاء يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا وَمَأْوَاكُمْ النَّارُ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن نَّاصِرِينَ

34.            Waqeela alyawma nansakum kama naseetum liqaa yawmikum hatha wamawakumu alnnaru wama lakum min nasireena
And it will be said to them: “ Today, WE are going to forget you the same way as you had forgotten the meeting of this day.  Now your destination is Hell and there is no one to help you out.

ذَلِكُم بِأَنَّكُمُ اتَّخَذْتُمْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ هُزُوًا وَغَرَّتْكُمُ الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا فَالْيَوْمَ لَا يُخْرَجُونَ مِنْهَا وَلَا هُمْ يُسْتَعْتَبُونَ

35.            Thalikum biannakumu ittakhathtum ayati Allahi huzuwan wagharratkumu alhayatu alddunya faalyawma la yukhrajoona minha wala hum yustaAAtaboona
This is your reward because you had made fun of the Revelation of Allâh and the worldly life had deceived you.  Therefore, today neither these people will be brought out-of the Hell nor it will be said to them that please your Râbb by seeking forgiveness”.

فَلِلَّهِ الْحَمْدُ رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَرَبِّ الْأَرْضِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

36.            Falillahi alhamdu rabbi assamawati warabbi alardi rabbi alAAalameen
Therefore, Praise is only for Allâh WHO is the Owner of the skies and the earth and Râbb of the entire Universe.

وَلَهُ الْكِبْرِيَاء فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ

37.            Walahu alkibriyao fee alssamawati waalardi wahuwa alAAazeezu alhakeemu
Praise is for HIM in the earth and in the skies and HE is Omnipotent and Wise.  (R) 20
